Did you only do Digital Downloads with the PS4 Pro? When you do upgrade you will appreciate the faster start-up time and the game load/start times. (And believe it or not, sometimes it's too fast - there are times when you won't be able to read what's on the screen, say, between levels, because the text flashes by too quickly.)
@@wallyjohnn6434 The only digital games I have are demos and the COVID promo games like Horizon Zero Dawn Complete, every other game I have is on disc. And yes I’ve known about the fast loading times since 2020. What used to be megabytes per second is now gigabytes per second
I just bought a customized one from eBay with some customed mods to the plates and to the controller. I was torn between getting this and the regular PS5 but after watching your review hearing they're so performance drops and hearing about the upgrades compared to the original. I felt confident getting this one! I can't wait and I'm so stoked to be finally playing a PS5 for the very first time ever! Thank you.

There is just so many games i wanna play on the playstation i think i have decided on getting the digital slim. Ill just get the disc drive later as i rarely ever use discs anymore anyways. And it would be amazing to be able to play both xbox and playstation games.
I have the original Ps5 but I am looking to get the PS5 Slim I like the size difference for the Slim over the original. The Ps5 Pro isn't for me I say no thanks. The Slim with the disk drive seems like a good option thanks for your input helps a lot
Lucked out on october 10th with Slim 30th release, was considering Pro but the nostalgia aspect got the better of me, still this upgrade felt rather weak compared to PS4 > PS4 Pro, will now wait until PS6 comes around they'll have plenty of time to polish PSSR and update that good ol' CPU. Thanks for the review btw, helped with my decision process
Took a risk and bought a PS5 slim 2 months ago. Thought Sony would make me regret it with announcements of pro version. Turned out. My risk was worth it.
Thank you great video. I decided to upgrade to a PS5 but wasn’t sure to go with the slim or pro but thanks to this video i have made the decision to go with the slim considering it’s cheaper and my many PS4 games i can play on the disc version.
What it comes down to is whether you're willing to pay $250 more ($450 PS5 Slim vs $700 PS5 Pro), $280 more (OG PS5 with disc drive vs $700 PS5 Pro + $80 disc drive), or $300 more ($400 OG PS5 diskless vs $700 PS5 Pro.) The PS5 Pro basically appeals to PS4 owners who haven't upgraded, or those who have never owned a PS, new owners, say, those coming from a Switch, or, an xBox.
I agree. I haven’t owned a PS console since 2008, I made a switch later on to Xbox, and I want to get back and enjoy some PS games. The pro appeals to me since it’s got PSSR, more memory, and I’m playing all digital. I’ve got a series X and OLED already, and Black Myth Wukong and Stellar Blade would look amazing on the pro
@@adalberto.valdez Yeah, if you're coming from a Series X then the PS5 Pro is the natural choice. Going from a Series X to a PS5 non-Pro will probably feel like a down-grade.

I just bought the PS5 slim console today along with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition game, and since there's a tax break here in Canada starting today until mid February, no taxes were included. A good Christmas this year.
When I got the ps5 slim at Walmart the price was 350$ the best part is, is that it was brand new, no scratches nothing it was brand new, when I saw this price I was like “ I have to get that “
The PS5 slim was the perfect choice for me. First off it's the perfect size for entertainment centers, because of its compact size. I have a tv that does 144hz refresh rate, so I was able to go in and maximize the settings for 120fps and set everything to max. The graphics are amazing with all these options. I will not buy a new pro for 700, they can keep it. I know a lot will buy it, and that is up to them, but for me my slim is all I need. It just seems like an upscaling machine for already established PS4 games. This all being said, I am a PC player mostly, but this PS5 slim is amazing.
PS5 Pro will be artificially scarce to induce FOMO, there are no more supply chain issues. Yes, some components have gone up in price due to greed-flation, but they are plentiful.
no supply issues for the pro here. they must have been anle to make more. i brought a slim with drive last week on sale. have not opened it yet in case i decide to go pro. but $1199.00 AUD is to dear. and the one thing i can't get is a drive all sold out ages ago. more are supposed to be released when the pro is. but the drives may not be out till early next year. the pro sounds nice. but coming from a ps3 the 5 slim will be a nice upgrade. considering the other day was the first time i plaed a game for about 5 years and the 2013 tomb raider still looks good.
I’m looking to get a ps5, looking more towards the ps5 slim for exclusives since the series x is my main console. I’m in Canada and with tax the pro is just over $1000. Doesn’t make much sense considering all the exclusives at the moment I want would still under that with deals. Also with Black Friday deals I can get a ps5 slim disc version and a psv2 for roughly the same price, I’d be crazy to not get either of those ways over the pro right?
I would like to hear an opinion. I'm a PC user, but my last PS console was PS3. Wanted to get on PS again to play some exclusives. Should I get the PS5 Slim or Pro? 🤔 thinking about GTA6, for sure, a beast of a resource hungry game...
If you have the wherewithal, get the PS5 Pro. If you get the PS5 Slim you will only second guess yourself because your mind is already conditioned to think in terms of better graphic GPU chips and over-clocked CPUs. With the Pro you know you got the best possible and will readily accept any shortcomings, and know how to change graphics settings to their best advantage if they are available in the game.
@@MannyRataulThank you very much! 🙂👍 I just have a Full HD TV. With a 4k TV it would cost me 720€ MORE than the normal ps5 slim (all together 1220€) . Just not worth it for the tiny difference right? How big is the difference in terms of picture quality with a 4k TV? 🙂
Also are you sure about that? No picture improvement at all with a Full HD TV? The frames are not that important to me. Or do you think they are important? The frames of the ps5 slim are still better then the ps4 pro right? Do you think the ps5 slim has enough frames? 🙂

@@flowless1773 the graphical improvements on the ps5 pro will definitely help with performance. The performance increase will vary on game to game though
Depends on whether the game is CPU bound or if it GPU bound. I don't know what BMW is, though. If it is CPU bound then it may not make a difference as the CPU is the same, meaning that it may be locked at 30fps.

If you have a PS4 pro, I'd skip this generation and see what the PS6 has to offer later. The CPU is quite old architecture rdna gen 2. This does not bode well for future proofing and a damn good reason to hold off. Even the PS5 pro has the same cpu. This will be an issue as games get even more complex.
Do you have any games that are taxing the PS5? One that I can think of is Final Fantasy XVI. If you play FF VII Rebirth, are you troubled by the smeared backgrounds? If you see stuttering when playing on-line multi=player games, first find out if it is the PS5 or the Internet connection.
I've been waiting for the pro since some years , forecasted it. But to be honest right now I am a bit lost because the Slim is quite good and I don't need super fps and raytracing etc. And the fact that the pro doesn't come with the disc drive bothers me a lot actually!
I got the disk version just yesterday and got it at digital price cuz it was on sale, worth the buy imo but if you already have a ps5, don’t buy another one

And my series X for any competitive fps gaming/playing with my buddies who have the series x. I would rather have one of each than just one ps5 pro imo
I really wanted a ps5 original disc drive model. Mainly cuz i hate the idea that for the slim version you have to depend on internet to use your disc drive. Ps5 pro is worse as it is the same but even crazier expensive. Atm still just with my ps4 slim
Completely happy with my Slim. Never bought Pro versions and I rather save the money for PS6. By the way to all people saying GTA 6 won't run good on base PS5 this is a downright lie. Just imagine how stupid Rockstar would be if the game would only run good on PS5 Pro. Rockstar won't disappoint and they will optimize the game perfectly also for the base models
I had a slim for a week and return it. The performance on not the same as it original and it was very Laggy at times. I felt more rip off paying $499.99 for that downsize in parts Console.
I got a PS5 Slim Disc Version for $300 used... Thanks, I'll stick that for now. I'm not spending $700 for a PS5 Pro that doesn't come with a Disc Drive... Nonsense.
Ps5 pro costs 951$ and the slim digital 570$ and slim disc 633$ here in sweden… if we had us prices i would by the pro directly but i dont se the worth of spending almost 400$ extra for the pro…
I've noticed that the Slim runs hotter than the launch PS5. Has anyone had any issues with this? It runs fine so far, but the excessive heat worries me.

Let me tell you something and try to think about it carefully. I’ve bought the OG PS5 disk version at launch with 1 extra controller and 1 game for 650€. Two months ago I had to buy a used PS5 for 250€ because my OG PS5 broke and it didn’t make sense to repair it because believe it or not the motherboard just got fried. You do understand what sucha repair would cost. Now for the last 4 years I had to spend another 400€ for PS plus subscriptions just so I can play online multiplayer. And now I would have to spend an insane 800€ for a so called “PRO” just to have slightly better background graphics, no disk drive and ffs not even a stand included?! So I would have to spend atleast an extra 120€ for a disk drive just so I can play my physical games. Let’s now add everything up for the last 4 years and I didn’t even count the overpriced games or the 2 extra controllers that I’ve bought on top of the 2 that had with my OG PS5 and we get a whopping 2220€! My fellow gamers do you know what kind of PC I can build for that amount of money? The kind of PC that will outperform the future PS6. So tell me do you think that KuSony made a good call by using this ridiculous and straight up predatory strategy or did they just convince loyal customers like myself to finally make the switch to PC gaming?
Sony is no different from Xbox and Nintendo and not everyone has the wherewithal and knowledge to build a custom pc. Not to mention the upfront cost of a custom pc exceeds the dollar figured you layed out if you want to game in 4k in min 60fps for AAA games.
@@MannyRataulYou’re point is frankly utterly ridiculous. I see this ridiculous argument coming back everytime someone doesn’t have any good poiny to make and I have always debunked it without any sweat. First off saying that the competition isn’t any different doesn’t justify anything. Second off, it’s not really some rocket sience to build a PC these days. It’s pretty simple child’s play and you can always look up compatibility online or ask in the store where you buy the components. You can also let the store build you a custom PC as you like for a small extra cost for the time put into the build. And it won’t take more then an hour for a professional to build you a PC. Also like I said for a total of 2220€ you can build a PC that will outperform the future PS6, buddy. So I’mnot sure what you’re trying to prove except the fact that you either dishonest and just trying to mislead viewers/readers at this point.🤦🏻♂️
@@FortuneCookie187 I used to PC game. The countless nVidia driver update problems finally got to me. I am a computer tech, I've always built my own PCs. I would only do AMD graphic cards these days. Using your example, if you tell someone that isn't tech savvy that they will need to spend 2220€, or they need to buy a 1000€ video card to get the best graphics, they'd probably laugh at you. The vast majority of people are just looking for a $300 console, for example an xBox Series S, which has outsold the Series X by a wide margin, 3:1. The problem with building a gaming PC is that it will likely not be used just for gaming, it will be used to access the Internet, do banking, do FB and X, read mail, etc., and very possibly get a virus. It's one thing to build a gaming PC and only access websites for video drivers and buying games, and another for surfing the 'Net.
@@wallyjohnn6434 I didn’t hear lately about any nVidia driver update problems. Choosing the right GPU is something subjective, it depends what your priorities are, what you need it to do for you. You might prefer AMD for what reason you personally have. AMD is overall in the mid tier GPUs better value if you look at FPS/€ but if you’re looking in the high tear GPUs the winner is nVidia. Personally I hope that atleast in the mid tier AMD will stay competing with nVidia and not throw the towel in the ring. Competition is always beneficial for the consumer’s wallet at the end of the day. That is an issue most playStation users are finally realizing. Now you’re taking things totally out of context from my example or better said my take and misrepresenting them. I never said that you have to spend immediately over 2000€ on a gaming pc or the ridiculous argument of an expensive GPU. I was talking about how expensive PlayStation has become over the last 4 years. And if you add up how much money a person spends on PlayStation most people would have by now a pc that surely will outperform the future PS6. Basically making the point that in the long term you get alot more bang for your buck if you invest into pc gaming and that is just pure math. And your claim that’s it’s a problem with PC that you can use it for multiple tasks is somehow a disadvantage is frankly ridiculous at this point. To the contrary most people see this as big advantage when a device can do more for the money. You’re arguments are here only for the sake to get on top of this discussion and disregard any logical reasoning.🤦🏻♂️
@@FortuneCookie187 THEN I had problems, years ago. I don't know what pc gaming is like now. I gave up on PC gaming. I bought PS and XBox consoles instead of building a gaming PC. I no longer care to pay $400, and up, for video cards.nVidia drivers are at rev 561. I gave up after the 400 series. As a computer repair technician I prefer Intel CPUs to AMD, I prefer AMD to nVidia graphics, and if I got a laptop it had better have an Intel wi-fi card and not Broadcomm, etc. I won't build a PC with 8GB of RAM, etc. That's just me. I don't know how AMD or Intel CPUs act to-day.I just want an all-in-one solution. Yes, a gaming PC can be built to game, but will it be graphically comparable? The PS5 came out 4 years ago. Are you using a PC made in 2020? Or, did you upgrade the graphics card since then? As far as the PS5 Pro goes, if you have a good enough TV to be able to exploit the full potential of the PS5 Pro than that is what you should get - the best console for the best TV. It's a luxury item. If you can afford a $1000 cell phone you can afford an $800 console. If you paid less than $800 for your phone, why? Whatever your reasons, those are the exact reasons why someone isn't willing to pay $800 for the PS5 Pro. IMO. And if you have a $1300 iPhone 16 Pro, you can probably afford a PS5 Pro no problem.
If you had to, I would upgrade to the Slim, especially if you get the disc version if you were coming from a PS5 OG disc version. DO NOT get the Pro. It's just not worth it. Sony have really dropped the ball when they not only omitted the disc drive so that your ONLY choice is the digital version and then get the disc drive as an option, but they also omitted the vertical stand and again, can only get it as an option. And STILL charge us $1000 or it (in Australia at least) REALLY SONY!!!!!!!????????? Also, I can't understand Sony's thought process that regardless of whether you get the Pro or Slim, you have to 'register' your disc drive online. WHY!!!!!!!????????? IT'S A DISC DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think if someone already has a PS5 fatboy that there is little reason to get the slim. They'll lose too much on trade-in. If someone has a $300 PS4 Slim, going to the $780 PS5 Pro probably won't make sense. Even if someone has a PS4 Pro it may not make sense if they're a casual gamer. OTOH, if they are a hard-core gamer, say, where they're playing mostly only one game, say, Hell Divers II, a COD, Overwatch, etc. the PS5 Pro will be a better choice. They will invest thousands of hours on the one game, so they're not fazed paying $70 for the one game, $80 Season Passes, and $160 for PS+ Premium.
Slim looks sooo much better to me than the original ps5. The pro uses the same design language but may even look better. I will stick with the slim because of the size

The PS5 slim was the perfect choice for me. First off it's the perfect size for entertainment centers, because of its compact size.
They will invest thousands of hours on the one game, so they're not fazed paying $70 for the one game, $80 Season Passes, and $160 for PS+ Premium.
one reason i like the fat station is because you can play it without internet out of the box. thats a plus for physical media collectors like me.
