Big Trouble in Little China has a scene where a guy catches a knife thrown at him, then throws it back. I don't think it's at all practical for real life but here's the link to the clip if you're interested. th-cam.com/video/fpkz047b-qU/w-d-xo.html Love your content and skills Adam. Thank you for the videos!
Have an idea when you do these movies comparisons. Get an airsoft vest makes sure bulky like in the movies. Attach a few knives to it and see if it's even practical to be actually jumping around and throwing in. Then take it off and see how much your aim changes. Sylvester Stalones revolver in the movie was a totally prop, looked good when editing.
Since you teached me no-spin techniques I can totally agree that they are now my favorites most of the time! Also the amount of informations here is very useful for beginners or acustomed folks that just want confirmations in their observations!
I was very late in catching this video, but it was an excellent one, my friend. Very entertaining, but also really educational, at the same time. Brilliant work, brother! 👍👍 I hope you and the family are all doing well! 🙂
So, I'm an axe thrower since almost two years now, and the same principles apply. That's why I'm actually surprised at how much more difficult it seems to stick a knife while moving? As long as I know the distance to my target, I can stick an axe from running, from jumping in, from lying on my back... Of course, the target also moving brings in way too many calculations to do on the fly, but if it's just me moving? Just get to a comfortable distance (for me, it'd be from 3.6 meters to up to 10.5, but I do need a marker on the distance), maybe slightly adjust to offset the momentum from moving, and you're golden.
I suspect the larger sticking area of the axe vs the knife has an affect on it. There's probably more leeway with the axe vs a spinning knife. I imagine a no-spin knife throw would be better in that situation.
axe is much better for predicting the spin, you feel it much better the weight while throwing and the 'deadly' angle < that counts as hit is probably also higher To throw a knife from distances I needed to train a lot, with axe I was able to estimate the rotation instinctively much easier
Adam, your videos are priceless! Thank you for de-bunking the movie knife-throwing nonsense. Let me re-pay with another movie myth that has no bearing on real situation: The standing choke with extended arms, as often portrayed in movie scenes. Having practiced martial arts for years ( judo included ) it is not possible for a grown-up man to choke out another, similar size, grown-up man from the front just with his arms. You can simply stand without escaping and prevent the choke by moving your shoulders and chin. Without even raising your arms...
Years ago I was practicing with the sping through, i was at work so it was a trowel not a knife. But I was about to get better hits by throwing slower or spinning it slower, it still stuck in each time. I haven't seen you try this you serm to always throw at full force. I was about to get a distance with two spings and make it one sping.
sandbags or maniquins or something. because we want to see you do combat throwing. u are the best. we dont care about spins or no spin. only kicking mass
Hello Adam! I look forward to watching😊 Another show you might be able to analyze with some knife throwing is "Bones" season 4, episode 12. The main character 'Seeley Booth' portrays a former Army Ranger, now FBI agent, who uses knife throwing while working undercover. *Edit: I had thought the show talks about halfspin, but I believe I misremembered
i seen a video of the fastest pistol drawer against 'supposed' fastest knife thrower. i forget thier names. the knife guy won. theyre both pretty famous, you may have seen it. they were side by side shooting/throwing at their target. the ahooters name was jeremy something but i dunno the knife guy, this us the only knife throwing channel i watch unless i just run across something. itd be cool if you did a fast-throw video, sorta like the naruto honshu stars 😁
Pro knife thrower is more than a match for a Shooter within a certain range, Shooter can deliver more damage and has far greater range, but thrown knives are more dangerous than it is given credit for, put It this way, not to brag though, if I had throwing knives and committed to using them - better start running FAST 😆😆😆, I am a spinless throwing practitioner of over ten years, it is the method that is the most effective it the most situations and has the least disadvantages Spinless throwing should be your 1st method of choice man, and the way you ought to be training the hardest in, it isn't easy, but you still need to be good at half spin and full spin, half spin is easy, full spin is the most difficult but you still need to be proficient at it because some not all tools can be thrown spinless or half spin
@@Jmbr-eh6xr i totally agree. i actually challenged my friend who loves guns to the same challenge. he got pissed 🤣 ive been throwing a while now, dunno how long. id feel comfortable bringin a knife to a gunfight if needed. in the right situation obviously. sniper>knife lol.
@justinashley7616 A thorwn knife is fast to deploy, providing the shooter has not got body armour on, it is more than enough a threat I shoot right handed but throw left handed, not that I switched due to convenience, (some firearms are made for shooting right handed, this makes it a pain in the ass for left hander) shooting right handed always just felt right, if n the case of a combat shooting situation if unable to reload quikly enough would grab the knife rather than magazine or speed loader Knife throwing is a lethal skill, the beauty and danger of it is that sharp objects are all over the place, so if caught with your pants down situation there are weapons to hand
Adam, I love you're video's I wish you would do this same video with a balistdummy to actually demonstrate penetration on human targets!! Have a blessed day my friend!!
Wonder if anyone responsible for those knife throwing scenes will learn anything about proper knife throwing. Is it not that hard to Google it and watch a few videos like this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, the problem is that for the directors, cool looking > accuracy. Plus, these days after the Baldwin incident, I doubt they'd allow anyone to be throwing a knife near another actor (not that they did before of course, that's why all the jump cuts to the actor holding the knife in the wound). I wouldn't be surprised if they went all CGI on it at some point too with the actor making the throwing movement with nothing in their hand.

At this point I'm just learning how to put more power behind my no spin. Full spin I can bury a knife into a target. No spin, I'm not dialed in yet
