We cant even compare the old issued Ka-bar with that new mushy heat treatment they're making today. As for the throwing the best half spin thrower is a Cold steel Jack dagger.Heavy, sharp tip and even the blade can be sharpened to hair shaving sharp level.
Maybe. I’ve never thought of that. If you throw the gel at the knife, one of two things can happen. The knife will penetrate straight through the gel, or the gel will completely miss from horrible accuracy, yet again it will more than likely not do nothing since you are throwing and object with more mass at an object with way less mass.
This was a really well made vid. I had no idea just how devastating knife throwing was. Whenever I’ve seen knife throwing comps it never seems that bad going into wooden targets. Unreal.
I'm a nitpicking asshole, but I can't find a single flaw in your video. Especially like the slow mo's of each throw so I CAN ACTUALLY SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING. Great video, one of the best.
Not trying to be a douche, but a couple things couple affect the outcome of the throws. 1. He can't throw all of them with the exact same arm strength every time, and 2. He's throwing all at the same ballistic gel, meaning previous wounds are prexisting. If you hit in the same place twice it will look far more deadly than it would be if it had to penetrate the exterior. This was overall a great video though, just a couple thoughts. I'm impressed by your throwing abilities!
when i was 7 i used to go down to my basement with three seperate kitchen knives and throw each one until i mastered throwing them, my target was a cardboard cutout of a man holding a sign and i practiced for years
um I played bo1 and when ever I threw a combat axe at the player they always died so this video is false. Disliked, report, unsubscribed, copyrighted jk
Theadore Lol. Its almost physically impossible for a person to throw a knife and stick it into you. Basic physics. Mass and velocity isn't enough to puncture through tissue and muscle and stay stuck in you. It will leave a puncture wound and the knife will fall to the ground
The only problem with this is that he is doing a spin throw, this type of throw is entirely unrealistic in a combat situation because you can only stick the knife at certain distances. A no-spin throw would be much better. To be fair he is REALLY good at the spin throw.
No spin throwing has hardly any power behind it, and quickly looses accuracy past 10feet. other than soft woods most "No Spin" throws won't stick into objects...it is very hard to keep any type of speed or power behind no spin throwing. The max distance I'm at in this video is 30feet, and I would LOVE to see any "No Spin" thrower try to even have 1/4 the power of these impacts. Lets just all be honest, THROWING your primary blade is LAST RESORT, I'd much rather run up on the target and go to work with it in my hands.
I agree! The spin actually adds force that causes a deeper penetration and a harder blow, but it's also less likely that you'll stick it in someone. And of course throwing your primary blade is a last resort! But you can have multiple knives, and sticking a knife in someone is a pretty good distraction so you can effectively get to them. Then again any knife flying at you would be a bit of a distraction, just one sticking in you would be quit a bit more.
Having thrown spin, no-spin, and combat many times. the combat throw is the best suited to a combat situation and personally a more accurate and more powerful throw, it is a choked half spin throw that the thrower instinctively holds the knife by the blade at the correct position to achieve a stick for the distance required. I have only tried this once to kill, it was over 30 years ago, whilst hunting It was very successful it was requested by my foreman for food, not fun, also a horizontal throw to the back of the neck was the chosen method to achieve an almost instant death and minimal suffering.
Yeah, no spin throws don't work well against vertical or horizontal grain wood targets as the knife tends to bullet spin because usually the knife sticks better when it hits within the grain, that's why you notice a lot of Russian No Spin throwers have these targets made up of blocks of wood with the End grains facing out, that way you can do no spin and spin throws at the target.
you never know , you might be in the woods out of bullets and have only some knives or a tomahawk , or in a dream in the woods with only knives , or let's say you went thru a time machine and they had no rifles back then. always be ready man.
Imagine this guy throwing a bayonet at you, missing, saying “oh woops hold on”, pulling it out of your shoulder, walking back 20 feet, throwing the bayonet, and hitting you right in the stomach What a way to go
The shock on the gun with the ballistics gel would probably move something inside the gun. And the weight would have drag through Air resistance would slow the whole gun down while it move through the air, And the weight of the gun would probably make the gun just fall and hit the ground
+Call me Smith Have you ever fired a Mosin? 7.62x54r is a pretty significant round. Every time I fire mine, a shockwave goes across the grass in front of the gun, a fireball comes out about 3 feet, and the leaves get rustled around. That's from firing 185-grain military surplus ammo in a standing position.
They aren't the most accurate guns in the world, but they are sturdy as hell. Look up IV8888's Mosin torture test. He even stabbed a cinder block with the bayonet.
N8THEGR8 It depends on the rifle and ammo, though. My rifle tends to hit within an inch of grouping at 100 yds. With light-ball, it's about 2-3 inches. I've seen some that aren't quite as accurate, but they tend to have corroded barrels.
@Xbus6 Gaming And the next thing you'll say is that it's a "personal choice" but I'll tell you it is not. What about all those animals that you enjoyed eating? Do they have a choice? No but if they did they would choose to live and not be eaten. And this is no place to discuss these topics so shut up for now you selfish person

Carter Gonzalez well you'd most likely see hypovolemic shock from blood loss with that placement and Trauma that would happen. From a bio chemist and er nurse practitioner
WW2, German and American soldiers were shooting at each other, ran outta ammo. all of a sudden, a bayonet hits the German in the shoulder out of nowhere... all i can thinking of is what that soldier is going to be thinking like "OW!!! WTF?!?! WHO'S OUT HERE THROWING BAYONETS!?! FUCKING ASSHOLES!"
Rickey Bullington you're telling the truth.when i was about 11 i threw a machete at a tree and it bounced back and hit me dead in the chest,i only survived because it hit me with the pommel/handle of the blade so ace spade listen to this guy hes being for real
Not only that but the easiest way to consistently stick it in target is to figure out the ideal distance for a specific throw(velocity, rotation, etc) It's hard to throw a knife dynamically (moving targets, random distances, etc) Yeah if you hit them with the handle it will hurt but that is true for any item of similar mass. Might as well throw rocks.
I used to do straight-throws with knives... They're actually pretty reliable for about the first 3-4 meters. Then you can go to half-spin throws that cover twice that distance and are flying basically straight after the spin. Straight throws were a lot harder than spinning throws but would be useful if someone was charging you and you had an extra knife to chuck at them.

I'd like to see similar tests with different types of throwing stars and shurikens although I know that neither would be as effective! Great video though!

I've saw a lot of videos in which they say that throwing knives at someone has very little chance of injuring your target and zero chance of killing them, regardless of how much practice you put in or how good you get at it. They always say that you can't get enough force behind it to cause serious injury and that it would perhaps serve only as a small, momentary distraction at best and serve to give your weapon to your target at worst. John Marston wow really? I have been throwing knives and tomhwaks at tress for years BD I figured if they can go into a tree it's going inside a person lol
John Marston Agreed. We have performed test were hatchet style weapons show to have a higher kinetic force after being slung as opposed to swinging. People tend to sling harder than they swing due to not have to be concerned with following control of an object remaining in the hand. So, if you can generate enough energy to to cause injury by swinging, an object with enough mass will definitely have plenty of force when throne. When you see those videos, another option would be to refer them to baseball players being hit by pitches. A throw, round object with much less mass generally takes down those it strikes for what would be long enough to shift the balance of a hand to hand scenario.
Great points. I've seen someone being knocked on there ass by a pitch. I've also been at football/soccer games and watched players as well as fans being kocked out cold after being hit with the ball in the head. Soccer balls are extremely light and round and cause a reasonable amount of damage. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a knife or hatchet being thrown with even a FRACTION of the force of a baseball pitch/hit or a soccer kick!
I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream you must be 12 then. Calm down dude. He threw multiple knives and axes and got them all, he is skilled. Each knife and axe you have to throw differently.
He's good, but with a little bit of practice and repetition it's not particularly hard to stick it every time once you get feel for the same distance every throw. I speak from experience.
i really like your videos too.. but i have a question... can you make a detailed video of how to throw tamahawks cause i seem to be having alot of issues with getting the blade to actually fully hit and i noticed the way you released yours
thank you.. i found it.. though i have another question.. does it matter whether the blade is heavier than the handle or whether the handle is heavier than the blade on knives?
i prefer to have blades where the handle is heavier myself.. i seem to cut myself alot with lighter knives or knives where the weight is all in the blade
Well done! Thanks for thinking this through and giving us such a clear exhibition of the science that supports the art of excellent throwing skills. I'm looking forward to more of your fun and informative videos.
Dude you are awesome! You seem like a very humble nice guy. You aren't arrogant, you are very good at explaining things, and just make extremely enjoyable/well made videos.
That was fukn amazing. That's the highest level of knife throwing I've seen. I don't know how long it took to get to that level but the dedication Definitely paid off.
Been training in throwing blades for over 8years...more focused and strict training over the last 2 years. They dont always stick, but you keep throwing and learn the rotation and wear to hold your blades at different distances over time and LOTS OF PRACTICE.
Do you mean when he threw the axe into Magni's shoulder? One of Thor's sons? I don't recall Kratos throwing the axe into Baldur. He broke his neck to kill him.
If you have a knife or hawk that were not designed for throwing, DO NOT THROW THEM on a regular basis. Throwing causes a lot of lateral stress that the tools were not designed to handle. It is a fast recipe to damage or break your tool. The Kabar bent after one throw, and that's exactly what will happen to a knife that was not designed for this. Throwing is a form of heavy abuse, especially with knives that have high hardness blade to maintain good edge performance. There is a reason why throwing knives are made of cheap soft steels--they can absorb shock and lateral stress way better.
obviously if your gonna throw a knife know that its original purpose probably is gone because of throwing it and trying to learn the exacts to it in general

You don't get it kid... LOL
I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream you must be 12 then. Calm down dude. He threw multiple knives and axes and got them all, he is skilled. Each knife and axe you have to throw differently.
I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream can you explain how so i am?
He's good, but with a little bit of practice and repetition it's not particularly hard to stick it every time once you get feel for the same distance every throw. I speak from experience.
That Tomahawk is one scary weapon! Nice video
Thank you for fast forwarding and staying on point. Keep it educational 👌
i really like your videos too.. but i have a question... can you make a detailed video of how to throw tamahawks cause i seem to be having alot of issues with getting the blade to actually fully hit and i noticed the way you released yours
Already did a while back. Link is on the screen at the end of the video. Thank you for the support!
thank you.. i found it.. though i have another question.. does it matter whether the blade is heavier than the handle or whether the handle is heavier than the blade on knives?
i prefer to have blades where the handle is heavier myself.. i seem to cut myself alot with lighter knives or knives where the weight is all in the blade
Jacob Dewitt I
Colleen Bradshaw i cant see your comment for some reason
Comrade, yuo ar doing it all wrong, you throw mosin with bayonet attached, not just bayonet

Especially considering the deadliest snipers of WWII used them.
Artyom Zaytsev exactly
Well done! Thanks for thinking this through and giving us such a clear exhibition of the science that supports the art of excellent throwing skills. I'm looking forward to more of your fun and informative videos.
Dude you are awesome! You seem like a very humble nice guy. You aren't arrogant, you are very good at explaining things, and just make extremely enjoyable/well made videos.
this is my 3rd time watching this video... seriously the most interesting, badass video I've seen in the last 6 months. this is the shit we love!
Thank you! Means a lot!
That was fukn amazing. That's the highest level of knife throwing I've seen. I don't know how long it took to get to that level but the dedication Definitely paid off.
😎🤙🏼 since I was about 10 years old Ive been throwing
Getting flashbacks of Spike's Deadliest Warrior tv show. I loved that show when they used all those different type of weapons on ballistic gels.
This is the most aesthetically pleasing video I’ve seen in a while
Lol he practicing for those cross map kills for call of duty
How many years did it take to be able to achieve all these throws nearly the first time?
Been training in throwing blades for over 8years...more focused and strict training over the last 2 years.
They dont always stick, but you keep throwing and learn the rotation and wear to hold your blades at different distances over time and LOTS OF PRACTICE.
GY6vids I bet, I throw knives myself, and knowing how tricky they are to stick, this was extremely impressive.
You just got yourself a subscriber good sir
Welcome to GY6vids! Thanks for supporting and watching.
Lime Shredder *at least 2
Lime Shredder
Your throws are so perfectly accurate !
Thanks for the video. I have always wondered if a thrown knife/tomahawak can kill a person. This info makes my purchase of a SOG tomahawak a good one.
Bill Loveless you wanna kill someone or something?
Chainhog IdkwhatToPutAsLastNameXD LOL, no. I'm just a curious fella.
***** no he was happy because he found out his weapon could kill someone, I know he doesn't wanna kill someone anyway , it was a joke

“When you touch yourself”, the facial expression after that phrase said “ dammit never the best choice of words” 😂.

I enjoy this guy.
7:06 The Way Kratos Threw the Leviathan Axe at Baldur's Shoulder ,would be cool if he called the Axe back into his hand 😂
Do you mean when he threw the axe into Magni's shoulder? One of Thor's sons? I don't recall Kratos throwing the axe into Baldur. He broke his neck to kill him.
That decorated riflemans hawk was bad ass! Thanks for this sir!
Rest In Peace Karl. You shall always be remembered in our hearts . 😢
'Gooey parts' scientifically accurate XD
9SS94Cr Yeah I broke the tip on my western-style knife from a company that went out of business in the 1970s
I just broke a couple ribs last week. That last throw was a tough one to watch. Nice throwing.

That's very odd that the ka bar bent. I'd definitely contact ka bar because mine never did that and I'm pretty hard on it.
