I know how hard it is with your health, but it is so wonderful to see you painting.I enjoy hearing your voice and watching you painting. Be well and safe.
That's the most beautiful sky painting I think I've ever seen! Oh, I keep meaning to mention that I REALLY appreciate it when you mention the dimensions in " inches " for us dumb Americans. LOL Love it when you include your precious kitty! 🐱
Happy New Year, Stuart. Hope the year ahead finds your health improving and that you continue painting and hopefully selling some of your beautiful pieces. I feel very happy when the little bell lights up telling me you’ve got another video up and running! Great stress reliever for this perennially anxious personality! 😂❤
It's just really, really awesome! I really like your paintings, your painting style and of course the videos of the process of creating them. Thanks to You Tube, I came across your work (not long ago), I am extremely happy about it. I actually enjoy watching these videos and paintings, I could do it 24/7. I especially like that in the creative process you share your thoughts and explain why you do or change something. You are such a great artist and a true source of inspiration. I myself am a beginner and self-taught. No more days go by without watching your videos. All the best, peaceful and pleasant and beautiful Christmas holidays and continued creative joy.
Good to see you back! Another magnificent painting. Hope you’re as good as you can be. God bless! Wishing you good health so we can see more of your beautiful work 👍
Hello Stuart! So nice to see you again and so glad you are feeling better. I'm glad you had your midnight epiphany and decided to change course on your painting. It is truly beautiful and in that frame it's just majestic. Enjoyed watching :)
I've enjoyed your work for sometime, Stuart. Your instruction has helped me become a better artist with each video I watch...I sometimes watch them over and over again and I seem to pick up something new each time. I hope you're feeling better asap. I sent a little thanks... I hope it helps. Merry Christmas!
I enjoy watching u paint and through your teachings I have gotten much more relaxed with the paint brush in hand so thank u so very much for doing what u do.
Thank you for sharing your gifts here online. I love watching you make blobs and messes into art. I tried my first oil painting today, and it was harder than I thought it would be. I did make a good mess though and had fun doing it. 💙
Thanks Stuart for showing us how to paint a dark sky. I love the scene with so much texture. Have a happy Christmas and a healthy wonderful 2023.Cheers from Australia.
mă bucur enorm că am întălnit canalul dumneavoastră , niciodată nu e târziu , în artă înveți tot timpul multă sănătate și putere ,vreau să învăț cât mai mult , evident și pictând cât mai mult și bine 🌈
I like to paint while you are chatting away. You make me smile and every now and then I glance over to see what you are doing. I find your relaxed attitude very inspiring. Thanks
Thank you for another beautiful and relaxing painting experience, Stuart. So sorry for your health challenge. Prayers for you. Merry Christmas and a new year Blessed with improved health. Enjoy your voice, too!
I once saw a cat wearing a turbin in one of your paintings, LOL! I think I enjoy your humor as much as your painting. I am also glad to see someone with your skill decide what they've created is bad & start over. This is encouraging. I have had some disasters & have sworn nearly in tears, that I will never paint again! So nice to know there is hope after making a mess of things - thank goodness and thank you Stuart!
That is beautiful 😍 Loved every minute & glad to hear you are back on top form. The first salad 🥗 was a touch too bright, l think. Have a good Christmas & a Happy healthy New Year.
I love ❤️ the amount of information you give 💓 in this interesting💓💞 video thanks for the beautiful💕 video💯 ,you shared 💗 with all of us a big hug and good luck in what you do. thanks for sharing 💞💓💞 .
Hi Stuart, sorry to hear that you have been unwell again lately, but so glad to hear that you are feeling much better now and back in your studio making this video. It was very interesting to see a rare moment when something you wanted to paint did not quite go the way you envisaged it should. But hey there, you recovered the demo by peeling it back to a point where you could begin over and bring it to fruition. Surely this is truly a good example of The Master at work. Making Happy mistakes or unhappy mistakes is just what Bill Alexander often spoke about in his demos. Clearly you demonstrated that oil painting is so forgiving and can easily be changed by just wiping back the layers. It was a real pleasure to follow along and watching and listening to everything you said and did. Thank you for all your demonstration videos Stuart as each one has been inspirational. Wishing you good health both now and in the new year. Wishing you and your family and your cat a very Merry Xmas and a happier New Year in 2023.👍🌞💯🖐️
What a pleasure to wake to a new video from you. I look forward to enjoying this one during the Christmas season. Thank you for the gifts of sharing your creative talents over the year and years gone by. You are an inspiration to us and I appreciate the encouragement that you provide to your students around the world. Merry Christmas to you and yours
Another beautiful painting, nice to see you painting again! I'm here in the nutty USA planning my escape to southern EU. Anyhow, is that white gesso you cover the plywood with? Also, what kind of varnish should I use to seal the painting. I have at least 50+ some odd frames, too bad you are so far, I'd gift them to you. LOL. Looking forward to your next painting. Be well xx Lilly R.
When you wiped the landscape clean it actually looks very calming n inviting. you like bold and beautiful but some people like soft and calming when you start selling put two side by side and see which sells first curiosity you know. What is nice looking at every stage of your painting because when you just look at whatever stage you stop at we see it further away we don't see what you see close up so it all looks good far away
This is the first of your videos I've watched, despite having subscribed at some point. I was so disturbed by that bright kelly green, couldn't imagine how it was ever going to work and was so relieved that you came back and rubbed it off. Am fascinated by your technique. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you improved health in the year ahead.
Imagine my surprise when you mentioned the message I sent to you a few days ago concerning my difficulties in imagining - or seeing - the process of painting a landscape. That while I was pleased with my progress painting skies but was struggling with the landscapes. I feel by your comments regarding this landscape that you painted this painting just for me. (Probably a bit narcissistic of me but…) In any event I watched and learned from this video - as in all your videos - and will trudge on learning as I go.
I love your work and being a past oil painter and now only watercolor in much the same as your approach I find pleasure and wonderful results thank you!!!
Loving that I've found you and your painting. I am not painting with oils because I prefer looseness and it is just perfect to watch you paint. Do love your sense of humour and I see it in appears in your work. Thank you for making these. I just have to get the courage to try! When you say a cheap brushes, where do you buy them please. Again thank you. Marilyn
So glad to see you back, I was getting a bit worried about you. I suffer with the same heart problems as you, so know some days are worse than others, my problems started after my second jab, not been right since. Love the sky in this video, and the information you have imparted is very much appreciated. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, and please stay well.
Thank you for all your artistic encouragement! I feel so fortunate to come across your channel. I would like to know more about taking lessons with you in France. I hope you have a stellar holiday season!
I watched your videos for hours admiring the technique and the results. My paint is the Louvre by Le franc and bourgeois, and they no longer exist but I’m happy that I bought a lot of the huge size. I tried the tonality technique and finished two pieces in an afternoon, is it normal? 😅. They looked great, but I feel it’s too easy it’s like cheating 😅, I certainly will be doing more, the only difference is that I used a light canvas color, sometimes more than one colour. The cloud is a bit challenging to incorporate a colour that’s unusual. Thanks for your advice specially the tip of a napkin for grass it solved that problem for me after years of annoyingly using brushes. 🌷
i really enjoyed the new intro, I have always asked myself how you prepare the plywood and paint. And I am of course relieved to see a new video from you, I was a bit worried…
Thank you for another great video. Just a quick camera tip if you get the chance see if you lock the exposure setting to the painting, so it does over expose when you move in front it stops the glare. But its just a tip doesn't effect your great work and videos
NICE save, Stuart! Yeah, the first attempt was not going anywhere good -- but this one ... Very evocative! Good luck with your painting sales. Lucky you that you found a good source of used, authentic frames, too. Excellent. Kind of like you, I prefer to paint, not sell. But it is also true that they stack up and gee, for some reason, extra money comes in handy, dunnit?? So... all the best in that endeavor as well, dear Stuart. Be well, and enjoy the holidays.
Hello Mr Davies. I started yesterday painting. I’m happy some what but disappointed with the brushes I bought. I got two different Ives to scruff the paint in to start . It went well. I bought what I thought was soft four inch was largest I found, unlike your sizes. No matter how hard I tried to hold the brush high and in a slant I still see fine lines. Is that picture to be wiped away or is it me or what could be the problem maybe to oil maybe a possible not heavy enough in paint ? Help Thank you so
I know how hard it is with your health, but it is so wonderful to see you painting.I enjoy hearing your voice and watching you painting. Be well and safe.

Beautiful painting Stuart!
Fantastic painting
As a fellow artist.... I love the sky !!

That method of doing the grass is the best technique I have learned. Love that path too👍
When you wiped the landscape clean it actually looks very calming n inviting.

Hi and hello Stuart!! 🤩
The problem with the land/foreground started when you put on that bright green. With your magnificent expertise the painting ended up being magical.
I watched your videos for hours admiring the technique and the results. My paint is the Louvre by Le franc and bourgeois, and they no longer exist but I’m happy that I bought a lot of the huge size. Que bello ❤❤❤
Wonderful! Just missed the live (animals to be fed), but I wanted to thank you for teaching me how to relax with painting.
Happy Christmas Stuart! 🎄

24:50 😂😂 and I thought I was the only one who did that! If I don’t do it I’ll spend a half an hour looking for my car🤦🏼♂️
Great consistency of fine paintings 🖼️ how long do you wait when the painting is completed and dry do you varnish it. Thank you 🙏
I would wait a minimum of 3 months.
Thank you for your help and reply
Magnificent!
Very nice👍❤

Phenomenal work
this video useful for who are beginer
Beautiful!!
Before applying the Geso on the wooden panel do you sand it down?
Yes, and between each coat of gesso.

Don't worry about fine lines - think of them as texture. You need to experiment with the oil until you find the right amount.
We got a nice photo of Devil's Tower in Wyoming USA and the blue sky had white clouds. A little more wispy than puffy and mine look very artificial.
More incredible,genius work👍🏴👍
