I saw on a different comment about this video how you used an underpainting in tones of red. How did you determine that should be the color you used ? Thanks for answering if you can.
Hello! I use red because I wanted this painting to have a warm tone. The red shows through a little. It also contrasts with the blues and greens. This way, I know what’s underpainting and what the top layer is and I don’t miss a spot.
Really like your videos…great stuff! Also like your recommendations for brushes. What oil paint do you recommend? Also, what fan brushes? Thanks for all you do.
Though this is a really informative video, have you made a video showing how to paint the field of grass from the beginning ? I realize that could be a bit "monotonous," 😉 but, some of us need that extra bit of instruction. Either way, thank you for sharing this video with us. It IS really helpful. BTW, I use acrylics, so, do you have any tips for painting grasd with that kind of laint? Thanks bunches. 👍🙂
Thanks for being nice. I’ve had a lot of rude comments lately. To answer your question. I spontaneously decided to make a video while I was in the middle of working on this painting. It wasn’t planned. That’s why it started in the middle of the process. I will do a short that shows the beginning, next time I paint grass. The reason my videos are not very scripted is because I am an artist before I am a TH-camr. I don’t plan these things. I appreciate your comments. Thanks.
@@PaintGoodwithChad Just saw how the words were spelled grasd and laint in my message above. Sorry, but I don't know HOW those words were misspelled. 🤔😉👍
I painted the grass first and the animal last. It’s easier to paint the background before the foreground. However, I painted the animal and the background together, in monochromatic tones of red, as the first layer. (Under painting) I let that layer dry and then I start adding colors.
@@PaintGoodwithChad If I see a clean palette, I know I haven’t done much. 😅 I just finished a big field of grasses (ranch scene). Wish I’d seen your video first. I would have done a few bits differently. I’m strictly acrylic, BTW. Appreciate you. Great attitude in your non-scripted presentation. Not a peacock in sight!😮💨😁
Ha ha! Your not the first to say that. It would be hard to clean it. I might have to use a sander. Buying a new one is probably easier. It might be time to do that. Thanks for your comment!
I am unable to clean my pallet. It’s stained from all the paintings I’ve used it for. The only solution is to buy a new pallet every time I make a video. I’m not doing that. BTW, You don’t have to be rude and give me 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

@@skysky9115 That’s cool. I paint oil over acrylic all the time. You just can’t paint acrylic over oil. It will crack when dry.
Thanks bro, I needed this

BTW, The process is the same with acrylics. Just use water instead of paint thinner. The paint should be runny when using the liner brush.
@@PaintGoodwithChad So THAT'S the trick - thinned out paint. TYSM for your help. 👍😉
And, I'd rather your videos be "unscripted," myself. NP with that to me. 😉👍

How do artists work with a messy palette
The same way we work with a clean one.
