I know it's probably too late for this kind of feedback while you're so close to release already, but I think it's still gonna be possible in the updates (maybe new furnitures/room types/etc?) so here's some of my initial thoughts:
- While inspired by Studio Ghibli work in general, I can see that the Hotel itself is heavily influenced by Spirited Away's bathhouse. The exterior is based on Japanese Architectures but the interior is strictly European Mansions, picturesque cottages. I get that it's supposed to be a whimsical fantasy hotel with changing aesthetics for customers (and the player's preferences) but everything isn't blending as seamlessly as you'd want it to be - maybe it's only the few starter rooms in the preview gameplay but I'd like to see more Japanese details blending in, or at least the main reception room should match the exterior more. Exterior being Japanese and everything else, even the outdoor workbench is Medieval European fantasy just doesn't blend well. I'd like too see more japanese/asian-inspired varieties.
- The rooms are way too dark at the moment. A hotel needs to give off cozy, homey and with (inspired) Ghibli styles you especially need warm lights. Hotel Galatic's interior is giving dull and dark steampunk with a lot of cool tones which isn't ugly per say but it's not the same vibe as the animated trailor. The main source of light in the room being dependant on doors/windows while the lightings barely lights up anything doesn't really make sense, it looks dramatic but it also doesn't make the hotel cozy and feel live-in. I want brighter light sources, brighter wood tones and furnitures with warm colors.
Again might just be a gameplay showcase problem, I don't know what's in the game yet I'm just stating my opinions based on the trailer.
