    Dude what’s your signal chain????
Apparently I’m majorly dumb and can’t figure out how to make bass vi sound good

Hey man! I'm recording the DI signal straight into my UAD Apollo Twin. Getting this tone was a bit complicated since I used a lot of things, maybe I'll do a little tutorial video in the future!

You have too much bass is my guess. That's like the most common issue people have with baritones, ERGs, etc. Anything tuned low. You dial too much low end probably. Anyway, just something to think about.

@@Ste20389 > this. I almost always EQ my DIs! Especially with erg/baritone guitars. EQ and multiband saturation can do wonders if used correctly!

Also - it's not super easy to make those bass VI guitars sound great, take your time and try A LOT of different impulse responses (using the right IR is CRUCIAL!). I'll do a short tone tutorial if i get enough requests, i see quite a few people are interested.

What strings/tuning do you use on the Subzero? i got the same guitar modded through the roof, But looking to get a decent balanced set of strings.
the standard D'addario Baritone are unbalanced af!

I'm using the ones that came with the guitar, everything is stock. But yeah, finding the right set of strings for extended range guitars or even baritone can be a pain in the ass. Try looking for LaBella strings, I've used them for my erg quite often, and I was very satisfied! If you can't find anything the only way is to probably order them string by string and "build" your own set, if you're really picky! Hope that helps.

which amp sim? :0 im struggling to get such clarity with a 30"

    • @RiccardoBelliPersonal

Hey man, my signal chain is a bit complex. I'm using a boost pedal from tse X50II, the high gain amp in Archetype Gojira from Neural dsp and some custom impulses, but there's also some processing before and after the amp. I'd suggest you to EQ your Di signal to shape it the way you want, that can be really helpful. Clarity comes from using your eq in the right way (wheter it's the amp eq or any other EQ pre or post amp)
