I'm guessing yes, but if I got a bias spark can I use these patches?
Nice video Andrew. May I ask the string gauge used in this for Esp guitar
?
@@petr3484 some where around 12 to 54 the a 68 for the 7th string. Or 10 to 52 then 64 for the 7th string. Or possibly 13 to 56 them a 74 for the 7th string. Can almost guarantee its only a few numbers off of these sets if not near exact.
Vildhjarta might be the only band to ever truly succeed Meshuggah by evolving what they started directly, instead of implementing their style in another genre.
Swedish blood♥️
I mean, periphery did the same thing, although Vildhjarta is more true to Meshuggah’s style of djent and is more of an extension of their sound as opposed to periphery’s more electronic, jazzy, and futuristic sound 🤔
@@Djent_Djenerator Periphery is essentially metalcore that’s heavily inspired by Meshuggah, Allen Holdsworth and film score.
Vildhjarta takes a lot of the same influence as Meshuggah, but it’s rooted in more black metal, doom, drone, and death metal backgrounds.
@@CrzyWzrd4L yeah id say that description is better
Nobody succeeds meshuggah you could never be more wrong about anything. Flatearthers and Holocaust deniers are more believable than someone who can say "*blank* has succeeded meshuggah" with a straight face.
Still remember the moment when the opening riff from Dagger completely melted my brain in high school. Never gets old
Fuckin’ A
We had a beginner and intermediate guitar class offered to us in my high school. At the beginning of each class one student would get to share a song with everyone. I made everyone listen to Dagger and Shadow, also played some Tesseract for my turns in the intermediate class lol
Same, except I was a freshman in college. I'd never heard of them before they were announced as part of Veil of Maya's US tour with Northlane and Structures, who I loved at the time. So I pulled them up on YT and Dagger was the first thing that popped up, and I'd never heard anything like it before and was completely blown away. By the time the tour came around, I knew their entire discography back to front. I still watch the videos I took on my phone from that show to this day. I just wish my Vildhjarta hoodie still fit, I've gained some weight since then 😅
My 600lb riff lyfe
My 700lb riff life lol
That was chuckle worthy……….so I chuckled.
Passage Noir and Toxin are told tier 👌🏼
Måsstaden under vatten is a masterpiece 🔥
Passage noir or den helige anden are my favorite ont this album but it's not easy such an amazing album
Man, I remember the first time I ever heard Shadow. My mind was instantly melted and I ended up listening to the whole album after. Riff magic.
For me, it was the Omnislash EP. Shiver and Don't Fail Me Now (Lady Luck) were what got me into Vildhjarta. It was wild when Masstaden dropped, they really sank into their particular style by that time. Traces getting lyrics was weird at first, but hell it was worth it no doubt. Masstaden was a masterpiece. Then Thousands of Evils dropped before they went quiet for some time. Then, finally out of nowhere, not only do they release a sequel to Masstaden, Masstaden Under Vatten, they completely remastered Masstaden and Thousands of Evils. It's not often you see a band so absolutely dedicated to perfecting their own works.
The end of Eternal Golden Monk is probably my favorite piece of music ever written
BIG agree
Gonna have to agree
But as you know "when you reach perfection...."
Flow like water
One of my favorite riffs from this band has to be from Shadow, that riff is just majestic
There he is
ur still everywhere
Best riff on that album for me is in Deceit at the 4 min 13 sec mark.
The fact that that bend on Passage noir is almost (if not exactly) equivalent to a hammer on-> pull off is crazy to me. Masstaden under vatten is easily one of the best albums of last year.
Always great to see people talking about Vildhjarta and spreading their music!
However, I certainly recommend checking out all available playthroughs made by the actual band as Baena's video displays some but misses several crucial elements of what makes the original riffs so great.
Take Shadow for example, here at 1:27 Baena plays only a descending pattern, but if you look at 1:01 of Bergström's original playthrough he's essentially sweep picking a chord, faster, ascending AND descending. At Baena's 1:49 some additional hits have been left out (see Calle's playthrough from Euroblast having more notes at 4:29) and the high note with the bend is sometimes played on the lowest string for variation in the original playthrough. How important the choice not only of which notes but also what string to play it on is crucial to Vildhjarta's sound, and it is something the band has mentioned as important (I'm glad Baena did show this for toxin though).
I was going to comment the sweeping motion bergström does. The first time I saw bergström playing that part I was surprised that's how you make the guitar sound like that....
@@ricardopieper11that sweeping motion got so many sleepless nights for me when tabbing the song out. I wanted to get as close to what Daniel played. That little lick is very similar to the licks in phobon nika. It sounds completely different when it's clean and only sounds the way it sounds because of the distortion. The shadow tab that is circling around over the years is completely different to what Daniel plays too.
This is probably your best video yet. The tones, production and transitions go crazy, especially considering that it's Vildhjarta
im sad lavender haze's breakdown isnt in here but god damn are they masters of their craft
same with heartsmear and vagabond :(
Same dude, I was also sad Traces didn't make the list. The first 40 seconds of that song is heavy as hell.
Sick! The All these feelings riff is still one of the heaviest riffs I have ever heard
I've been listening to Måsstaden under vatten while working for a while...what a special album. Like, really incredible.
All these feelings is my favorite song of theirs. The intro is sick, everything after goes hard, but the outro my god that hits harder then a tank.
När de du finał riff breaks my head, love it
So sick.
One of my favorites is the intro to Nojja
How it goes:
Dun dun dun BLARRP
Dun dun dundundun dun BLARRP BLARRP
You feel me
0:31 my brain was fully geared up to hear a BlueChew or Hims ad after you said that..
😂
i dont remember bias being so CHUNKY
If that's actually a stock Bias IR im really shocked by how good it sounds lol. Vildhjarta actually use old Line 6 Pod units for their tones so maybe we should not be suprised lol.
@@hannibalbarkas1350 I used the Bogren Downtuned IR (Gonnojira) but the tone I uploaded to the cloud has the closest stock IR I could find to sound like this as possible
The flow and playing here is fucking seamless man, probably my favorite mix of yours yet 🤘🏼
He's looking over at a music sheet and counting with all his might lol. I love it. These guys are my favorite band of all time
That section in Benblast, where it sounds like screaming and tormented souls in hell…it comes right before the riff you showcased here - that’s one of my favorite things to play with the windows down in traffic😂 never gets old
Some of these definitely seem more sporadic and random than meshuggah riffs therefore making them more difficult to memorize imo. You nailed it man good stuff
All theese feelings probleby the best song ever made
The last riff in 'Paaradiso' might possibly be the heaviest Vildhjarta riff of theirs I have ever heard. Next to the middle breakdown section from 'Längstmedån'.
Hell yeah, finally got a heaviest riffs on my favorite band! Sounds awesome!
Yup, i’ll definitely be covering Passage Noir. Love that sound!!! Thanks for sharing
I first heard Vildhjarta with their latest album and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. Great work man.
Man i love Vildhjarta, they're hardcore af, nice job on the riffs, they do have a very different technical style to their unique riffs. I believe my favorite song by them is "All These Feelings", such a relentless unforgiving banger.
That ending breakdown from Nar De Du Alskar is top tier, low tuned as shit and sounds like it's straight out of a glitchy hellscape, this band is legendary to say the absolute least.
One of the reasons I love Vildhjarta so much is because I have no earthly idea what is going on. I watched this video, I saw the tunings, and I still have no clue. 🫠
Great video!
I saw them live 2 weeks ago, it was sick!
Lucky soul
YAY!!!!.... my favorite kind of riffs.
Heavy Vildhjarta ones.
The bass drops in this video were like actually insane. Watched this video in my car and yeah.. good shit 👌🏼
When the playthrough for Shadow came out years ago, I was soooooo blown away by how bizarre it was composed. Yet very drawn to it. Definitely my favorite riff of the bunch.
Sick bro! Looking forward to hlb’s heaviest riffs!
Just their entire discography 🙌
The day I’ve been waiting for so long! He finally did it
The old demo song "as the sky drops dead" had some of the roots of heartsmear and kaos2, just a deadly heavy song
You should consider doing a full on thall side project, outside of Carcosa. You get it. The more thall the better.
I love that you used the whammy pedaali phrase from Calle's vid =D
this goes crazy hard
I'm watching this again a year later. Commenting again a year later. Vildhjarta is fuckin absurdly heavy with challenging schizophrenic riffs.
definitely one my fav vids youve done so far brother
That riff of phantom assassin is one of the absolute sickest
The one sentence to describe all vildhjarta's music is, "This is not a confession, this is more like a betrayal."
Passage noir is by far my favourite on that entire album.
Nar De Du... is so unique. Loved the bit here!
My reaction when I saw that you posted this: YEAHH FINALLY!!!!
THALL indeed. This band is F****** amazing and such a "sit down and play the entire album"
These wild tunings
not that wild, just drop F with the low string tuned differently sometimes
Vildhjarta ❤🔥
Well played, awesome tones you got there! Nailed it, very proud of you as a human being 💪🏻 Your content is only getting better!
Bro that transition was flawless
Good for you man! Couldnt of been easy, appreciate you bringing us this top notch content.
INTHALLIGENT VIDEO ANDREW
Once you learn that part in Dagger, you can no longer not stank face that riff 🤘
What I love about vildhjarta is that they don't stick to the same clichés as modern djent/metal (Generic Breakdowns, Pitch Shifter abuse, overdramatic clean vocals, etc.), they are way more brutal and atmospheric, just like meshuggah.
Vlidhjarta fuckin rules. Complex riffs and grooves all day, babyy!! 🔥
thank you for being metalist, its soul healing
my favorite riff by them is definitely the one at 1:45 from penny royal poison
vildhjarta riffs have resulted in some of the most spastic faces I've ever done
_they _*_c h o r m k y_*
I like the green sparkly paint job.
WHAT GUITAR WHAT GUITAR WHAT GUITAR WHAT GUITAR PLEASE ITS SO COOL
As a thall society official member I approve this message.
Thall Pedaaliii. Also that pink headless eight string is super dope
Vildhjarta has started a theme which is currently new , even though vildhjarta did it a decade a go, in comming years we shall witness djent thall dominating the scene
That harmonic sound you get when you play the lowest string open on a baritone or 8 string is so exaggerated on the alumniati that's crazy sounding it's like I'm hearing the harmonic more than the note itself. I wonder if it's because of the metal neck.
Lavander haze is my favourite so far
En Mork Vit Logn from Thousands of Evils is very high on my list of some of the heaviest Vildhjarta riffs. That groove of the first riff absolutely destroys anything in its path
Yeah that section needs to be twice as long
@@deathonion404 I could listen to that first section all day
Steeped my tea while listening to this 🤘
THALL
heaviest vildhjarta riffs
*plays literally every song*
And the man didn't play Deceit! Mad props. Even tho that riff goes hard AF, I would assume it's much easier to play than any of these.
running the 10-74 8 string pack by daddario on my stephen carpenter 607b & it melted my face my eyebrows are non existent
Do Humanity's Last Breath heaviest riffs next
Thall
ahit yea im down to hear some vildjharta
This was amazing. Loved the hlb riff video too. Next video idea - tony danza tapdance extravaganza. Complete with the atonal sweeps. Come you can do it. And to challenge yourself, do it on the baritone Jazzmaster lmao
Just melted my brain.
when a band's HEAVIEST riffs are half of their debut release you know they're a cut above
I needed that, AWSOME ! 🎉
Bro that bend in Shadow is meatier than even Vildhjarta does how in the fuck
so slick, so fresh
You nailed it! Good job 👏👏
You done did good, chief!
Nuts. Sounded sick.
Hell yes. Have you checked out “Means End”? I think two of Vildjhartas ex members were in it.
Well done man!
THALL!! 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome video dude! However the set tones you created i will say every guitar is different and if you want to achieve a more vildhjarta tone (esp off the newest album) then i would manipulate the eq before the signal hits the amp.
Bias fx has a handy 100-3.2k eq, perfect before the amp. You can cut the 200 ,400 and compensate with 800 and a cut on the 1 6 will smooth it out.
Passage noir hits so hard
My dream is to someday be able to play Shadow. Great video!
If Dalí played metal, these are the kind of riffs we would get
My favorite riffs by vildhjarta are in heartsmear and lavender haze, but they sound so complex...
incredible vid! I'd like to see you doing a Strapping Young Lad or Decapitated video like this please.. 😃👍👍
yes sir this the one 🔥🤘🏽
This is so sick!
Heaviest Monuments riffs! I give props to anyone that can also nail the Outro riffs to both Origin of Escape and The Uncollective. Both great examples of rhythmic riffs that use all 8 strings, and combine melody with feel with calculated syncopation.
Origin outro is so fucking fun to play!
@Tarkenton i always gotta lock-in for that 3rd cycle of the riff before it resolves cuz the displacement starts to get to me haha. The whole song is so damn groovy.
You could literally pick any Vildhjarta riff and I would agree that it’s the heaviest
Hey Andrew ! Could you make a video about bias fx and custom a setup with us please ?
Like from bottom to the top !
And give us advices about how to use it great.
Cheers fam, great video
super!
Nice. Thall
2:20 that shit mad asf
Nastyyyy❤
Ah, whaami pedaali, a man of culture!
