  • Here I show how to repair the Harman Kardon AVR 2000 receiver, where it keeps the voltage for a short time and then turns off, luckily I found the fault and fixed it.
Please follow me on my channel
and give it a like, it's nothing to you
but it means a lot to me,
Thank you in advance if you do that to me..

I just bought the 510 amp home tonight for the first time, it looks identical to the one above, and I had the same problem, the amp seemingly overheated and did the exact same thing at the beginning of this video, I pressed the button above the power button to the out position and then pushed it back in then tried it and for whatever reason it came on and stayed on, I'm not even sure what that button is for but it worked, that after I tried turning it on about 20 times with no luck

I have a HS 2X0 with kind-a-like item but half year ago on this thing the powerbutton went blinking but it did not swich on.
Then next morning I could switch it on and it functioned well for many weeks. And unexpectedly it went wrong again. I have taken the powersypply out to check condensators and diodes and visual inspection of parts and printboards and ordered some new condensators, ,-not those big ones-, diodes, thermoswitch and standby switch. Waiting now for the parts shipment I have build the powersupply back and the thing works 24/7 properly since 2 weeks...How possible?

How did you determine the caps are bad? Were they bulging or did you measure their ESR or capacitance?

Hi, i have a AVR5550 (same series of yours) . It start and after a while it shut down (like yours). the thing is that the fans are not spinning when the amplifier is getting hot . Do you have an idea ?
    Thanks a lot.

Hello, You have a different problem, I think you have a problem in the chip itself where it is programmed to turn on the fans when it is needed, you should probably do diagnostics using an oscilloscope to find that fault. I hope I helped you.

Harman Kardon just like any other brand they used cheap capacitors and it looks like the caps in the power supply goes bad. I had the same problem and after changing those caps started working again.

Had the exact same issue with the exact same device. Unfortunately swapping the condensers did not solve the issue… Guess, Imma get a new one.

Hello, my friend, I don't have a store, these devices that I post here, most of them are for sale and for presentation, and some of them are for repair, harman/kardon is a very specific device that needs a serious craftsman to repair it, because sometimes there is no noticeable fault with them and where it can be seen. my recommendation to you, if you care about that device and are very attached to it, then it is best to take it to a repairman, by no means do not tamper with it yourself because you can only make it worse. Greetings.

Why was it necessary to completely disassemble the receiver? It has a technological opening for quick access to the PCB tracks. A few screws are loosened at the bottom, and the hatch is open.

It could be done from below, but then I would have to cut that bottom sheet, I didn't want to damage it, but I had time to take everything apart to solve it.
