Kasi po itong amplifier kong harman kardon model no.avr 135/230 factory 2005 of july ,complete power sya pero walang sound,ano po ang sira nito?
Dasol, Pangasinan ang pwesto ko. Sir na try nyo nabang e reset ung unit? Pag ganito na ang case kalimitan may nakikita akong mga sirang capacitor, kaya hindi tumutuloy ang signal. May mga case naman na hdmi board (where audio processor is located) ang may problema. Mahirap kasing tukoyin kung saan ang problema hanggat hindi nada diagnose ang unit.

Good day sir. For sure na reset mo na ang unit mo. Sir pweding gawin mo to. E unplug ang unit. Tapos buksan mo ang takip then e disconnect mo ung connectors CN20 ito ung red black and white. Supply ng main amp. Pagka disconnect ay e plug mo ulit ang unit at e power on mo. Kung nag on at meron ng display ibig sabihin ay nasa main amp ang sira. Isa sa power transistor or pre driver transistor ay shorted.
Pero kung same psrin ang problem ay malamang sa PSU or audio processor/hdmi board ang problem

Hi po. Same situation din sakin, AVR151 "blinking orange light" Pina check ko po sa service center ng HK -Manila ang sabi digital board daw po. Pero diko pa natry gawin yung mga advise nyo ,check the speaker or wiring or resetting.
May idea po ba kayo kung may nabibili na spare ng digital board? Mahal po kasi presyo nila sakin sa pagawa. Salamat po .sana mapansin nyo concern ko. 🙏🙏

Good day po. As mentioned na system reset nyo na ung unit nyo. Maaring ang problema ng unit nyo ay:
1. Isa sa output transistor nyo ay sira/ shorted.
2. Cold solder sa Audio Processor Chip nyo (HDMI board)
3. Power Supply
Kung meron po kayong whatsapp (KIndly install kung wala) paki sms nyo ako. Para po e guide kayo.

Saludos y muchas bendiciones tengo la falla de un Harman Kardon modelo AVR 2700 parpadea la luz de Standby pero no Enciende algun consejo ya revise toda la fuente de alimentacion y no consegui daño alguno midiendo con el multimetro .

Usually po pag sa service center ng HK ay aroung 6 to 10K po ang singilan nila. Mostly ay board replacement po sila. Ang charge ko po sa unit ay reasonable with 3 months warranty. Kindly PM nalang po sa WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram.

Good day sir. Natry mo nabang e isolate ang power rail ng main amp. Pag hindi pa ay pakisubukan. Pagkataos mong e isolate ang power y etry mo ulit e power on ang unit mo. Kung nagkaroon ng display. ay may tama ang isa sa mga output transistor mo.

the complete part number is IPW65R280E6 located in the power supply area. Q901 location in the pcb.

Bossing Kung hindi mo pa nasusubukang e reset ung unit mo ay pwedi mong gawin to.
Reset Procedure:
1. Standby mode
2. Press the "Tun mode" key for a 6 to 10 seconds until “RESET” will appear in the Front Panel Display
If the problem persist then may internal problem ang unit mo. May ilang unit ng Harman akong na encounter na ganito ang problema. ang problema kalimitan ay Power Supply at mainboard lalo na sa Main Amp section. Pinaka mainam ay dalhin nyo nalang sa Service Center

I had the reciever working many hours and once i forget something on it and it overheats. After that it started blinking. Turned it off, waited, turned it on and worked. After 15 minutes of operation its shat down again, and now it cant turn on in any case. I replaced the two 1kv 470pf caps on the primary, because one of them was burned, but that did not fix the problem. I replaced the caps on the digital board (the 5v ones) because the seem to leak, but the problem is still not fixed. I have jumping standby 5v voltage, like 2.5-3 volts when amber blinks. No info on the display. Its not the amp board. I want to check the temp sensors but i dont know what to do there. :/ its avr 270
Good day. I've experienced that problem before with some other model of HK. Did you try to isolate the main power for the power amps section? (CN20) base on the schematic diagram. If not kindly try. Once the connector was disconnected/ isolated, try to plug the unit to power. Once the display showed up. then you have problem in your Main Amp board.
Did you try to manage to check the following: voltage regulator?
IC97 - 7812A
IC98 - 7912A
IC99 - 78L24
If one of the voltage is missing/ abnormal, it will give you Amber light (System protect mode)
Just in case you don't have schematic diagram.. please find below your service manual for your amps along the additional service bulletin from the manufacturer:

Hi, once I have encountered the same problem. I found the problem in the power supply section.
@@wamopa So, what were the parts you changed in the power supply section? Did you change the capacitor?
@@ozidarkside4141 If I'm not mistaken capacitor and change value or resistor. That is a couple of years ago... I forgot which specific parts in the board. Kindly reset your AVR by pressing Surr Mode for 5 to 10 second.
@@wamopa I did the reset process you mentioned, but it didn't work :( I gave it to a service that does electronic repairs, I hope they can detect it with a measuring device.

Did you try to Factory Reset your AVR?
If not kindly follow below's procedure:
Unplug the power cable. Wait for 3-5 minutes. Then plug it back in, While in standby mode kind press and hold the Surr Mode button in the front panel for 5-6 seconds.

BTW saan galing nga pala ang unit nyo? Kasi pag hindi bili dito sa pinas hindi tinatanggap sa service center. Ang kalakaran ay bayad ka ng 10k php as membership in order to repair your unit.

Ganito ang gagawin natin.
Sa tingin ko ay hindi mo pa nabubuksan ang ang unit mo. E unplug muna ang power ng avr. Subucan mong e isolate ang 45 -/+ supply.
Pagkatapos ay e plug sa power ulit. Pag nag start at may lcd diplay ang unit. Ibig sabihin. Ang problema ay sa main amp Section.

I recently asked a local repair shop and the tech' himself went "lutang" trying to comprehend what I was describing him about an HK ARV161... Actually, malapit lang ako sa Beyond Innovations service ng HK dito sa QC. pero kung ganun pala ang kalakaran nila sa repair - eh baka ipamigay ko na lang ito AVR ko to anyone who wants to salvage parts from it. Hello, If not power supply, most of the problem is cause by a faulty HDMI board and sometimes Main amplifier section. Did you try to your AVR to any Reliable Electronic Repair shop?

harman kardon 161s ang AVR ko sir... pag nag open eh mag device sleep na sya tapos blinking na yung orange light the mag stop ng blinking. pero after several attempts na on-off ko sya eh bigla nalang sya gagana... parang wala lang nangyari. ano po kaya ang problem?

Sir kaya nagkakaganito ang Amplifier ay meron syang nadedetect na problema sa loob ng amplifer. Kaya bago pa magdulot ng pinsala ay nag si system protect sya.
ito ang problema ng Harman Kardon mostly pagkatapos ng 5 to 6 years na ginagamit natin. Habang tumatagal ay pahirap ng pahirap e power on yan.
Pag napapagana mo sya napansin mo ba kung lahat ng channel ay gumagana? To test pindutin mo lang ung TEST button sa RCU or remote ng AVR mo.
Ngayon kung may isang channel na walang sound ay try to disconnect lahat ng speaker mo. then check mo kung may short sa isa sa mga terminal ng speaker mo, baka may maliit na hibla ng wire ito ay makaka apekto sa system.
Kung wala ay sundan mo nalang ang mga sumusunod:
I assumed ay familiar kayo sa electronics? paumanhin kung nasabi ko yan.
Mostly ito ang kalimitang problema ng AVR na to. Paki visual check nalang lalo na ung mga capacitor.
May similarity ang diagram na to sa model mo (wala lang suffix na (S) sa dulo ng modelo.

Brother same issue with my AVR as well, I have check the caps they are ok. Even base board caps are ok. so what else do you want me to check? if I remove this heat detect resister this unit will work?
Hi brother,
Have you tried the Factory reset of your AVR? by pressing the Surr.Mode button of your AVR 5 to 6 seconds? (while standby mode/ with amber LED)
If the caps are okay, kindly check also following:
1. Speaker binding post terminal for any possible short circuit of strand of speaker wire.
2. Check the output transistor with Multi meter for any defective.
3. Check for any cold solder on the main amplifier board.
These are the things that will cause the AVR to turn into system protect mode. Don't remove the heat detect resistor, otherwise the system will not work and will turn itself into system protect mode. BTW what is the model of your AVR?

Be noted that the Power Output transistors of AVR151 are Darlington type, With 70 ohms built in bias resistor.
For PNP Transistors
1. Set your Analog Multimeter to Ohmmeter X1 Ohm Scale.
2. Connect the Negative Probe (Black) to Emitter and the Positive Probe (Red) to the Base. The needle should deflect to the right side, reading less than 100 ohms.
3. Now invert the probe connections to the Emitter for the Red Probe and to the Base for Black. The Needle should not deflect.
• If the results are the same as above, your Emitter-Base junction is OK.
4. Now we will be testing the Base-Collector junction. Connect the Red probe to the Base and the Black probe to the Collector. The Needle should deflect to the right, resistance usually is not less than 100 ohms.
5. Invert the probes again, Black to the Base and the Red probe to the Collector. The Needle should not move.
• If results are the same as above, your Base-Collector junction is Ok.
6. Connect the probes to the Emitter and Collector (probes may be inverted), a reading above 1Kohms indicates a working transistor.
For NPN Transistors
1. Set your Analog Multimeter to Ohmmeter X1 Ohm Scale.

Detecting Defective Transistors
1. If there is no resistance between any of the pairs during test (needle goes all the way to the right) for all the steps. The transistor is shorted.
2. If for all the steps, no needle deflection occurred, the transistor is open.

My AVR151 drops sound most of the times in any of the following scenarios:
a) change of source
b) pause and play of the same video
This applies to all HDMI, ARC and Optical sources. What I have observed is, once the receiver loses sound, even the test tone is not working in the speaker setup menu.
Once the AVR is switched off and turned back on after a few seconds, everything comes back to normal until either of the above scenarios comes in action mostly. Appreciate your help on this. Thanks!

Have you done the System Reset? If not please do follow below's procedure.
1. Press the front-panel Standby/On switch to place the unit in the Standby mode (the
Power Indicator LED will turn amber).
2. Press and hold the front-panel OK button for at least 5 seconds until the
RESET message appears on the front-panel Message display.
NOTE: After performing a processor reset, wait at least 1 minute before pressing any
Source Selector buttons.
If you "DON'T HAVE ANY INTERNAL COMPONENTS FAILURE" like the one showed in this video.
Sorry to say that you need to replace the HDMI board (processor /system controller) which is easily available upon order request at any Harman Kardon service in your area. Specially if you are in KSA, UAE and Qatar.

@@jasimmuhammad8974 One way to confirm is to swap the HDMI board from other unit. Trouble shooting this type of AVR, you need an oscilloscope and other tools in order to diagnose the problem.
Most common problem of AVR' at long run is the audio baseband network processor chip FS1230 (IC1105) BGA (ball grid array)
This problem happened also in ONKYO.
In my case I found some corroded/leaked SMD electrolytic capacitor in the HDMI board as well as in the Main Amplifier board.
Sometimes reflow of smd components will help to solve the problem.
I believe 2012 was the manufacturing date of these particular model. Usually the life span of consumer electronics now a days is 4 to 5 years.

Sir, I'm also facing the same problem with my avr 151. From last 3 year as rainy season starts it goes in protection mode (Orange light blinking) initially if we blow some hot air by hair dryer the get started, later this trick was not working.as rainy season ends the avr starts normally. It's rainy season here in India so as usual it goes in protection mode. After watching this video I tried to reset it by 'surr mode' button but not working. Cleaned that hdmi pcb, no signs of capacitor leakage even in the main board or SMPS. Even my JBL subwoofer sub 140P/230 as went in protection mode ( standby light blinking) .sir help me with this.

Good day. Sa tingin ko na System Reet mo na ung unit mo. Kung same tayo ng Amp. Unit, kung nakastandby mode at kulay orange din ang led. Ang unit ay nakasystem protect sya. 1. Maaring may problema ka sa isa sa mga output x'stor. 2. Pwedi ring may problema ka sa HDMI board/ Audio Processor.
To check kung may problema sa amp section. Subukan mo ngang bunutin o e isolate ang power connector sa SMPS side CN20 +VCC (45v) -VCC (-45V) Kindly unplug muna ang Unit from Mains,

I have another problem with HK AVR4000RDS after switching ON the set and selecting any source it takes nearly 20 - 30 minutes for the sound to come ON. Thereafter it works till it is switched OFF. noted preamp O/P from opt amp are muted. what does it trigger to unmute.
Hi Mohan. Did you notice if the MUTE indicator on FRONT Panel display is lit?
Kindly check Power ON/OFF mute circuit (Q558, Q559, D405, D406, R570 and R571) for components failure and change value of resistor. BTW don't disable this circuit. It's help to protect the speaker by eliminating a strong pop up upon opening and closing of power.
Hi, @@wamopa Thank you for the tip. The Power ON/OFF mute Q558/559 stage is working. No sooner the amp is powered I can feed a signal to main amp/s and it works. It is the O/P from IC716,717,718 &719 in the Processor board that gets muted for about 20-30mts and comes ON automatically.

With reference to the schematic diagram, by removing temporarily the below x’stor (e.g. Q721 for Front speaker) you can bypass the muting. (Make sure that these x’stors are okay.)
Q716, Q717, Q719, Q720, Q722 and Q723
I believed you already check the below list of x’stor, specially the pull up resistor connected to VCC
Q718,Q721,Q725,Q724,Q730 and Q731 (x’stor with build in pre biased resistor)
Check also these x’stor near IC 201
Q222, Q223, Q224, Q225 and Q226
Lastly if still the same and other components were okay and still the same problem there is possibility that IC 201 is the culprit.

Pag naka standby mode po ay hindi iikot ang mga fan nya. May sensor po kasi sa loob ng unit nyo na pag umabot sa certain temperature na naka preset ay saka lang iikot o aandar ang mga fan.

Bhaisaf, In my humble opinion it is a good quality AVR with the typical lifespan of 5 years from date of manufacturing. (but in my case 7 years with cooling fan added) Not with the HKTS210SUB/230 the subwoofer is poorly design and one of the difficult sub to repair.
The things that I don’t like about this company: They have, Unreliable and Poor Customer service.

capacitors leaks..there is no ventilation.
In SUB TS-11, Power supply is Transformer. But other components frequently fails. Only sound quality is there, but components don't have long life, quality less components..

The production date of your Sub is more or less 2008 at this life span, you need to decap (change all the electrolytic capacitor) your sub woofer. Need also to remove the OLD silicon heatsinker compound and replace it with new compound. The amp of your sub is CLASS D the design has the highest efficiency

@@ricardoausejo3261 * Sir paki check sa main board ang Q960 (NPN) - RT1N144C with built in bias resistor (10K at 47K) dapat makasukat ka ng 57K sa Base to Emitter, nag che change value kasi ang bias resistor minsan. Ang 47K ay connected sa Base at Emitter while ung 10K naman ay naka series sa Base. In case nag sira ay mag substitute ka nalang ng 2N2222 at lagyan mo nalang ng resistor na 1/4w tapos e gluestick mo nalang.

May posibilidad may problema sa firmware need ng update. O kaya naman ay may problema sa Audio Processor/ HDMI board, usually cold solder sa chip. Isa ito sa problema hindi lang HK ganon din sa Onkyo at iba pang home theatre.

Baka nais nyong sabihin ay kung pano e connect ang Sound ng TV to AVR po.
Kung tama po ako sa tanong ay:
Option 1: from Audio Out ng TV (located at the back or side)
connect to your AUX/CD in ng AVR using RCA connector po. Then from source/input select nyo
AUX/CD.
Option 2: from HDMI out ng TV, (Use HDMI cable) then connect nyo po in one of the HDMI input ng AVR nyo. Then select kung anong HDMI port from your Source/Input.
Incase walang Audio Out ang TV you can use Headphone jack kung available sa TV set nyo.

Based on the service manual of your AMP, the output voltage of this small transformer is 12v-0-12v AC.
This transformer supply the 5v standy for the CPU and supply for the relay RY94.

Since you already replaced the small transformer. It means that the old transformer is okay, just return back the old one. 1st kindly check if 5v Standby is present in the pin 3, and Pin 1 (should be 12 to 15V DC) of 7805 ic (IC94) if not check the fusible resistor R905 it should be 10 Ohms, you should get 15v dc from the side of D901 & D961.
So that you can find easily those components and it's location kindly download your Service Manual/Schematic diagram. please find below:

Connect your receiver to your router with an Ethernet cable (CAT5 or CAT6 with RJ45 connector).
Using your computer, determine the IP address of the AVR 170/1700 on your local network. You can do this by logging into your wireless router's web interface, or by using a portable software utility from nirsoft : www.nirsoft.net/utils/wnetwatcher.zip download and install in your laptop or computer hit F5 in your keyboard to scan the network. You will find IP address e.g. (192.168.xxx) of Harman Consumer Group under the column “Network Adapter Company”
Type the IP address of your AVR 170 into a web browser on your computer. If done correctly, you will be looking at the Harman Kardon web interface for the receiver.
Click the Choose File button and any small file, e.g. a small txt file. Now click the Upload button. Dont' worry about what file you choose, because the operation will fail, and will reset or get the AVR receiver out of update mode.

e check ung mga resistor for change value at kung may ESR meter ka check mo ung mga capacitor, anyway kahit visual inspection ay kuha nayan.
Isa pang isyo sakin ay ang puldown resistor na binanggit ko sa Digital board. Good Luck sa Amp mo.

Please check your power supply for any busted fuse. If you are familiar with
electronics/electrical circuit, then I can guide you.
If not it's better to bring to any electronics repair shop or authorized service center.
Hi, what is meaning of the 'Device sleep' mode and how to rectify this error, after 5 sec orange light is blinking

Resetting the AVR
:
Power off the unit, unlplug the power for 3 to 4 minutes then plug it back in. Place the receiver in Standby mode (press the frontpanel
) Standby/On Switch so that the Power Indicator turns amber).
Press and hold the front-panel Surround Mode Button for 5 to 6 seconds
until the RESET message appears in the display.
NOTE: After performing a system reset, wait at least 1 minute before pressing any Source Selector buttons.
@@wamopa If pressed that button it's coming to reset and immediately went to device sleep mode error
I have changed 3 capacitor and standby 5v is coming, then power supply is fine right

Hi, I believe you are referring to subwoofer. you need to buy a seperate sub woofer in order to add extra bass in your system.
