Better than the other videos I have seen on this subject. I just followed his technique, and not only was it quick, but the cubes came out pretty uniform.
That sounds perfect cutting! Very impressed. Thanks for the idea, I never thought of cutting the ends first, then placing the watermelon on the flat end and cutting the rind around it. You made it look easy! Thanks for the video.
Yup, I’ve been using that same technique for over 20 years. The one thing I do different is that I put a dish cloth under the cutting board rather than a baking sheet. The cloth absorbs the juices that spill as well as helping to keep your board from moving around. **Tip: Anytime you’re using a cutting board, put a damp paper towel under it and it won’t move during cutting.
Amazing! And it works great, so fast and simple! I just got back from the fruit farm with a new watermelon and put it to test! Thank you for the great video! Well done! Now I am going to see what will work on the cantaloupe sitting in my kitchen,,,,
This idea is great I follow the directions of course I had to get my sharpest serrated knife thanks for the knowledge I was struggling cutting at the old fashion way cutting it in the middle I thought I was going to hurt myself thanks!!
Sir, You Forget To Talk About The Most important Part Of Your Video is Type Of Knife That You Used To Cut Watermelon : Type Of Knife That You Used To Cut Your Watermelon & Where To Buy it ?
I cut my watermelon like this yesterday cause I hate eating it in slices with the rind still on. except I used a crappy knife. might have been a bread knife but it was the longest one I could find.
I love your idea but tell me what kind of knife you use cause I tried this and I have a very scrape knife and it wont cut so easily like you show on here. But thank you
One thing important it to always wash your watermelon , other melons before you cut. They have a lot of bacteria the way they are grown and get mixed with other things. You can get sick
Why do you use a serrated knife to cut the watermelon? Ive never seen a chef's knife like that. Does the serrations make a huge difference? I'm curious. I'm teaching myself at 48, how to cook. I watch a lot of cooking shows on tv & TH-cam, currently watching Gotdon Ramsay, but no one explains why you use a particular knife.
I use a melon scoop. Nice round balls. Quick and easy. Minimal mess. Of course, you get irregular pieces as you go, but I'm not a chef in a fancy restaurant. Just a slob "putting food on my family". ;)
I just cut myself trying to cut a watermelon so my boyfriend sent me this link. I am probably not going to do it this way because i can't use a knife very well. but it is a very genius way to cut a watermelon.
Better than the other videos I have seen on this subject. I just followed his technique, and not only was it quick, but the cubes came out pretty uniform.
I never even thought of cutting off the ends first! We've always just cut them in half! That watermelon looks good... 🍉🍉🍉

Joe Riordan true.
Works great when cutting up a whole ribeye, NY Strip, or tenderloin as well.
A damp towel under the baking sheet keeps it from sliding on the counter, too. 🙂
