I did not do boxes on my pct hike. I had a few gear boxes and a bounce box of dehydrated food in case I had a hard time resupplying in any given town. Never opened the bounce box. Way cheaper. I ate simple whole foods mostly and for on average $35 a week
Thanks for the info. The shopping list is a great way to be supported. I hope that you and your family have a Happy and Healthy New Year. Good Luck, Rick
I still enjoy listening to your strategies. I am in the 60 year club so it's good to hear from views closer to our age bracket. Good sound info and it seems that you adapted and changed to fit your specific needs as you walked . The trail changes a person for sure. God bless.
WOW! This is one of the best videos about resupply boxes that I've seen! (Okay, I've only been watching thru-hiking videos for less than a year, but I've seen my share of such videos.) I really like the way you present the information and I like how you mentioned how to organize things at home for your support! ... Also, you referenced spreadsheets. It sounds like an excellent idea (I'm sure some other people do this?). How did you organize your spreadsheets and, maybe just as important, what types of info did/didn't you really need? Sorry to ask so many questions! Some people - like you - explain things well!
I concur videos on resupply boxes are the best ones out there compare this with the one before she left for contrast. Also download the files of all the places and addresses to send boxes very helpful.
Thanks, Allen, I glad it’s helpful. You can get the spreadsheet for where I planned to send the boxes on my website here: www.joyfulrambler.com/hiking-advice/ship-resupply-boxes/ (scroll down to Shipping Spreadsheet) I’m a bit of a geek, so I have spreadsheet for all kind of things. If I can get my gear spreadsheet cleaned up I’ll post that, too.
Hi Adam, the cost was really just for the items that I put in. Since I bought some things in bulk and others on sale it was pretty affordable, - less expensive than resupplying on the trail. My mistake was putting to much in each box. I should’ve packed them for just three or four days of supplies.
Can regional rate boxes be shipped at the counter or do they have to be click-n-ship? I'm trying to make box shipping for my support partner. Click-n-ship can only be done within like 3-4 days, but I can self address the regional boxes (requiring a wait in line at the PO to ship). Advice needed please.
When you resume your hike, do you think you will continue to use the resupply boxes? Did you feel that the savings of the food items you bought in bulk ahead of time were enough to offset the cost of the postage?

It would be great to read more details on the whole foods you ate.
Great ideas. Knowing what to send and what to skip is really helpful.
Outstanding video! I'll have to review this video several times before my start date of February 2021,
That's my start date too. :)
None Ya nobo I assume.
Yes even though I live in the North. Lol
I didn't even know there was a butterfinger cup !
Thanks planning for next year and I want to do resupply boxes. Thus was helpful. Thank you! 🌞
Very helpful as I prepare for my 2020 AT thru hike. Thank you.
When are you starting?
Another really helpful video. Thanks!
Thanks Moon Pie, I appreciate the information and technique. Thanks for sharing.
Very informative video. Hope you are able to get some hiking in during Jan & Feb. I know you miss the trail
Very helpful advice & feedback. Thanks!

Thanks, Rick, same to you!
This was so helpful and things I had not even thought about
This video was so informative! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks very good information

Thanks, James, I just did a post on The Trek about hiking after 50 that you might like: thetrek.co/appalachian-trail/whats-different-hiking-after-50/
Great video thanks for the information
You really broke that down nicely. I’m exhausted .

Great video. Good information to have
Dry wipes? Just brilliant. Glad to know they exist.
How much did it cost to prep all them boxes? I am looking at doing a Tru hike of the AT. How do you get sponserships?

I think you can send them at the counter, although they probably don’t see many of them. I’d suggest stopping in at your local PO to confirm.
Do the regional boxes have to be sent to post offices or can they go to hostels as well?
You can send them wherever the post office delivers 🙂
When you resume your hike, do you think you will continue to use the resupply boxes? Did you feel that the savings of the food items you bought in bulk ahead of time were enough to offset the cost of the postage?
Next time I’ll just leave a few items I might want and have them sent as I need them. I saved some money, but more on things like razors than food.
Did you ever run across Prime, the guy that was dyeing his beard? He resupplied using Amazon Prime ( hence the name).
No, I didn’t get to meet him. Amazon Prime was great, as long as they didn’t ship ups to a post office!
This video made me hungry.
Too many hikers carb up. Fat adapted means steady long term energy and it's lighter. You could go days without food
Look into getting fat adapted/keto.. You won't need much food at all (or cookware) every ounce of body fat IS food and you don't need the vitamins
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great info!
