It is, but we live in a world that needs big answers for the obvious truths. Something that used to be achieved when we were in nature and surrounded by mysticisim, is now detached from our focus and instead replaced with constant stress, choices and pressures we are not adapted to deal with.
These are the kinds of things I listen to when I go to my back yard or outside, I imagine the talker next to me or sitting near talking to me and when you imagine this, it feels different from when you listen to them while doing something else like school work or writing a presentation for a company, when you sit in a room with two chairs you can see them there and if not then you feel them there and if not then that's okay. But if you listen and focus on the words and understand them, then you will see what they mean
"Fear is just a feeling. You feel hot, you feel cold, you feel hungry, you feel afraid. Fear can never kill you. You must learn to master that fear, or you can accomplish nothing."
I came across this video at the perfect time. I am usually such a "fearless" dude (not like a daredevil or anything outlandish, but I am the type to just do things and take up new experiences without a real worry), but today I had a weird sensation I hadn't felt in a while. Fear. Real fear. Fear that I couldn't seem to fight or explain. I am a martial artist, and recently started doing MMA training classes to begin competing, and when it came time to spar, I sat out until the class was over (only then did I start to want to get in the cage). This was very unusual for me, being that I usually have no fear of diving in with anyone, no matter the size or skill. But today of all days, I kept having this unnerving voice in my head saying "I don't want to get hurt". This video helped me a lot. Especially the part where it states "can I operate with a lump in my throat, yes", etc. I'm going to challenge myself the next time that intrusive fear comes in when I'm training "Can I take a punch to the face, yes", "Can I handle a kick to the body, yes", "Can I work off the ground if I'm swept or dumped, yes". Whats even funnier is that I've been beat to a pulp before (I once had a WBC kickboxing champ break my nose), and still kept getting up like nothing happened. I am not sure if it was an off day, if the devil was trying to get to me, or if I had a random change of heart, but for whatever reason, my mind couldn't think of all the times I had done well and faced adversity in the ring/cage, and only fed me images of me losing and getting hurt. Thank you for this video. I'm not usually one to dump a big comment like this on a video, but to quote the goat Joshua Graham: "It's not something I enjoy, but I pray to God someone may learn from my mistakes".
You know, these Joshua Gram advice stuffs your write are real calming and hit hard in a positive way. I really look forward to these vids. Wish you the best in this channels growth.

You are a rip-off Dustin, of everything that has ever influenced your sense of who you are, and every idea that has ever entered your mind from elsewhere and eventually manifested itself in a synthesis which is the nearest thing to an original thought that you are capable of. It's fine, everyone is this way.
" We live in faith that our bodies will work as intended. " After four years of chemo I can say, faith is NOT enough. Listening to what your body tells you is wrong is also helpful, but if it's something minor like nerves? That's something you can ignore and press on. Pain? You can tell yourself to ignore it for just another second. Just another second. Just another hour. Another day. I learned the limits of my body when I saw it withering away from chemo and leukemia and still was unable to bring myself to cry. I knew people around me needed me to be strong for them. They already had let their emotions get the better of them and shattered, leaving me standing alone on an island as the one person that could keep myself alive. To give in to despair was to give in and die. Something I saw as weakness from the way I was raised and I refused to die the death of someone that didn't fight to the end. Paid off, clearly. But it raises a good point. A thought doesn't experience itself. Your brain doesn't feel itself. You feel all these things in tandem though as if you're watching a system operate, or bound to the system as it works. Your job is simply to listen to what it needs in the moment.
Maybe god do exist I mean think about it we were apes long time ago so I think question everyone needs to ask Is that where truly does emotions come from And what are their purpose in life. Maybe the world isn't just what everyone believes something right maybe it's something else something a higher purpose maybe? Who knows
Wow this is just amazing. I’ve been playing a lot of New Vegas lately and putting off my health care visits just out of fear of what I’ll be told, I’ve been letting my anxiety get the better of me but I just need to tell myself that I can do it, I can take whatever they throw at me.
I have given my control to myself. My own higher power is myself and my own ability to change the world around me. That's why humans have survived so long, and I will use that to survive even longer.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” - Isaiah 41:10
You MUST understand, that by believing in god you are contradicting the video. Its alright tho, most people choose to believe what makes them feel better.
@@Userkaf_II here i can try to help you understand. The point of the video is to not let fear, or use the idea of fear, to control our lives. We do this by thinking less about what might happen, eternal punishment for our sins or heaven, and instead focusing on our current selves. Dont let the fear of the future dictate your actions of the current. And thats just if you put religion into it for some reason. The real answer is you shouldnt let worry about the outcome prevent you from doing what you need to in life, no matter how hard it may seem and u might still fail which is ok “He is the master not who has never failed once, but he who has failed 1000 times and corrected his mistakes”

You have gifted back to me something I forgot I had for a very long time. It is not courage, no. It's reasonning. The ability to refocus your mind when it's confused or drowned by emotions. One of the strongest abilities the brain and mind are able to do. I legitimately think of this video when I'm feeling paranoid fear (often) and have no choice but to deal with it on my own. You helped me and allowed me to be more efficient in moments of stress and adrenaline. I deeply thank you for that, and shall listen to your wisdom again in the future.
I came here expecting to lol at a meme and heard profound truths that I'm familiar with from spiritual gurus, scientists, and philosophers. This is genuinely worth taking seriously. This type of knowledge can change your life.
I think what makes this video so powerful is the fact that this isn't being told to us by a rich and powerful celebrity, or some kind of enlightened guru, but a character that we know well. We also know that this character isn't a real person, and this allows us to be open to hear what is being told to us without bias. When you're told that money doesn't matter by a rich person, you automatically think "That's easy for you to say, you have millions!". When you're told that the only thing that matters in life is spiritual peace and enlightenment, you think "That's easy for you to say, the only thing you ever do is meditate! Your congregation provides for you!". But when we hear someone that isn't real say those things, especially someone that we trust due to them being part of a great game that we all love, we let the flow of words into our mind with no barrier or some kind of thought sorter which filters out things we believe to be wrong. All in all, great video. More people should hear this, even if it's not an extremely complex topic.
Those of us who lived alone for most our lives and when not wishing we were alone because of how people treat us are the strong ones. For those of us who do not fear death and do not let our emotions control us we know what they will never know.

this is how I started dealing with my anxiety/panic attacks. one of my biggest problems is dizziness and vertigo and I'm constantly scared of it. but lately when I started having that panic feeling, I always tell myself "You've easily dealt with worse feelings than this " and my anxiety/panic would slowly go away.
and plus, after that I've been very appreciative of going through these anxiety/panics because I taught myself on how to deal with them.
I love God with all my heart.
Joshua Graham unironically made me strive to become stronger in my faith
"I don't care if you have to tag along, but there are things I have to do today"

I genuinely believe this video and others by similar creators are gonna help a lot of people especially those young men being led astray by these ego maniacs on the internet. A lot of these videos offer advice that most people have heard before but hearing it from our favorite characters that we look up to is and entirely different sensation. Thank you for making this!
Exactly
Now if it was from the flood gravemind, I’d think about it
This was the longest 5 minutes ive experienced in a while. Thank you for that. I needed it.
This is to well written it feels as if it's just what I needed
We need more of his fatherly figure advice! I simply adore the fact that he actually says true advice. A fatherly figure for those who have lost their ways in the internet. I simply request to get more these type of videos published.
"It takes practice, but I know you can do it."
That hit me so hard. Thank you.
“Surrender your control to something higher than yourself. Be present, and be with yourself.” This is the key to a happy life.
My key was getting as much sci fi stories as I could, but I can see why that might work too
@@UCannotDefeatMyShmeat Why's that?
Such a Sophisticated way to say forget about that feeling.
It is, but we live in a world that needs big answers for the obvious truths. Something that used to be achieved when we were in nature and surrounded by mysticisim, is now detached from our focus and instead replaced with constant stress, choices and pressures we are not adapted to deal with.
@@Aogiri_ Please write a book or something. You are too good!
This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you

The steps from this video have proved fruit. Thanks so much!
"Fear is just a feeling. You feel hot, you feel cold, you feel hungry, you feel afraid. Fear can never kill you. You must learn to master that fear, or you can accomplish nothing."
I clicked on this as a joke but it unironically helped me.
Wish you the best in this channels growth.
i live my life every day thinking today might just be my last day on earth, there is not a second that passes in which i’m not on guard, i am constantly paying attention at what’s in people’s hands, how i’d deal with any problems, who is higher up on the scale of risk in my head and why, nothing on this earth makes me scared but a very few things, 1 not being good enough, 2 not being there when i’m needed, 3 being alone for the rest of my life, the only problem with life as i live it is #3, my lifestyle pushes certain people away, the most important people.
It is as the hand says "he who knows no fear, knows no courage. We are what we fight for"
I feel a greater challenge in the words "a thought cannot experience a thought". #GonnaEndUpASchizo
Seriously, this Joshua Graham teaches stuff is pure gold. Keep it up and your channel is going to do well.
That was one of the first things I've heard in some time that my own mind hadn't tried to distract me from, and I felt a genuine pressure, slight, but undeniably there, then gone, from my shoulders, my neck, and from my chest.
Holy shit, and thank you.
Great advice !
This was actually incredibly wise.
I am impressed to say the least.

I just noticed that both videos end with
"I know you can do it", I love that.

@@Aogiri_ let's be honest you just ripped mutiple things off other people none of those thoughts we're original or unheard of I've the hand can't touch itself etc etc, and put into an ai voice
@@Dustpuma1 Let's be honest, there is really rarely such a thing as an original or unheard of thought. You are a rip-off Dustin, of everything that has ever influenced your sense of who you are, and every idea that has ever entered your mind from elsewhere and eventually manifested itself in a synthesis which is the nearest thing to an original thought that you are capable of. It's fine, everyone is this way.
I really needed to hear this. Thanks man
" We live in faith that our bodies will work as intended. "
After four years of chemo I can say, faith is NOT enough.
Who knows
This was actually quite helpful to me who has a lot of anxiety.
Wow this is just amazing. I know this probably sounds dumb but I’ve been having major anxiety about making an important doctors appointment today and after listening to this, I feel like I’ve gained the confidence to make the call and go. I’ve been playing a lot of New Vegas lately and putting off my health care visits just out of fear of what I’ll be told, I’ve been letting my anxiety get the better of me but I just need to tell myself that I can do it, I can take whatever they throw at me.
Good work, take care of yourself.

Very well written. This feels like something the character would actually say as well.
Anything said by Joshua Graham instantly is the deepest thing in the world, and if it’s already deep… it gets even deeper.
I like how people have made Joshua into some friend that has a lot of wisdom
Finally people are getting to some philosophy that i havent coverd yet.
Quite the profound concept this one.
I have given my control to myself. My own higher power is myself and my own ability to change the world around me. That's why humans have survived so long, and I will use that to survive even longer.
The more I hear Joshua speak these words, the more driven I am to better myself.
Joshua dropping the coldest lines on earth
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” - Isaiah 41:10
You MUST understand, that by believing in god you are contradicting the video. Its alright tho, most people choose to believe what makes them feel better.
@@kubglo7502
There is no contradiction here.
"Truth is the essence of God"...
The real answer is you shouldnt let worry about the outcome prevent you from doing what you need to in life, no matter how hard it may seem and u might still fail which is ok

i do not understand why it makes more sense when joshua graham says it but it’s working
This type of knowledge can change your life.
the thing is, you can be non religious and this still works
Please make more of these with Joshua Graham.
I love this Joshua Graham algorithm, keep it going
Im truly inspired.
“Fear is also an ally if used correctly, let it not consume you entirely.”
