The white marshmallow/white chocolate/Dots candy looks (to ME) just like the Brach's white & fruit square nougat candies that we all use to ne able to Self-Serve by the pound at the Brach's Candy Stations in most grocery stores. Great job Tawra! I'm gonna give it a try this year. Love your channel, your Family, and You!
The white nougat with these gummies was my favorite at the Sears candy counter. Do any of you remember the square counter of candies at Sears? The chocolate stars were another of my favorites!!
Oh my gosh i remember chocolate stars yum 😋, they sold them at the candy counter at Kresge, and the broken milk chocolate. I'm 70 so you may not remember kresge. Chocolate was so much better back in the day
I was born mid seventies. We shopped at Sears a lot!!! I don't remember a candy counter. I must have missed that era, darn it. We had a Sees candy, and can still go, if we wanted to drive an hour to get there, lol.
I don't remember a candy counter at Sears when I was a kid in the early 80s here in Canada but I do remember the Kresge candy counter mentioned by @princessmariposa828 above- I also have fond memories of our old Woolsworth downtown which had a cafeteria counter and classic lunches. I wish I could see the Sears candy counter so I am going to Google it and try to find pics. Edit: just Googled "Sears candy counter" and some lovely vintage photos of it came up. It looks like it was such a cool spot! Did we ever miss out here not having one! They probably had one in a larger city like Toronto or Ottawa, but at the time I lived in Northern Ontario and our city had a Sears but it didn't have a candy counter.
You can freeze the dots and run them through a processor once or twice on pulse to make the prices smaller or use brands that are mini's. Also, you can melt the marshmallows much like for rice crispy treats then add the chocolate half way through since the melting point is different. Always start melting the ingredients that will take longer and more resilient first before any others.
If you run water over the crumbled parchment paper, shake the water off and there's no need to cut it! Learned this from a friend who was a chef. And it forms perfectly! and since its water , it evaporates easily and won't harm your recipe!
So glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I was coming to say, Excuse me Miss. You left paper on your butter. My OCD is satisfied now that I have spoken. Have a great day everybody.
I like how her son was involved with the cooking process and when he asked about a double boiler she took the time to explain and even showed him what it was. I think I will give this a try but I'm going to use candied fruit instead.
This looks so good!! Do you remember the Brach's pick-a-mix candy that you could get in the grocery store? They had those white nougat candies with the colorful jellies in them. They were my favorite. 😊
Yes, when adding food coloring to chocolate you have to use candy food coloring. regular food coloring will cause your chocolate to seize... but you can rescue seized chocolate as long as it's not burned because as you know even a drop of water will cause it to seize. so just put some of that coconut oil in it and it will smooth it back out again
The 1/2 stick of paraffin also thins the chocolate just enough for an even coat with easier dipping and it keeps the balls nice and shiny. I've been using it for decades with my peanut butter balls 😉
The nougat is great with oreos to make cookies n cream. Instead of dots just use chopped up oreos. Im thinking of trying the nutter butter cookies this year.
I remember those! It was one of my favorite things to get for Halloween, that wax tasted so good! I would chew it until it lost its flavor then throw it away.
I made the nougat candies from a recipe I saw about 4 years ago, and it was during covid, and I lived alone. Took forever for me to eat them all. LOL I also made some with Crows, because I like black licorice. Those were the bomb!!!!
Made the white nougat candies with the gummies and they are a hit in my home!! I remember these when I was a kid. My husband and son love them. Thanks for the recipe! Next up, peanut butter, chocolate balls!
I made the nougat candy last year for the first time, it was SO good! It reminded me as a kid getting these but like your husband said, its fresher and better
I used these recipes and this year changed it up some. I added imitation banana flavor to the (white) fudge and walnuts, then chocolate coated it, I love it. Also did some of the nougat candy without the dots in banana flavor. I also did butterscotch flavorin white fudge and nougat as well. Dipped some of the fudge in chocolate also and added powder from some sea foam candy on top. Butterfinger fudge lol. Just trying for some different candies lol.
I just now stumbled over your channel! I'm definitely staying around! I can't wait to try making the nougat jeweled candy! I already have a quick trip to the Amish market in the next little town (in northern lower Michigan) for baking/candy/spices ingredients because they are super cheap, later today! Adding a couple of items to my list. Have to save money where I can in this crazy inflation! Thank you for sharing your time and effort with us! 💜
She was saying northern lower Michigan, you might wanna try northern Indiana or drive up to Fremont Michigan or over to stanwood Michigan @mikipappas4326 Either way, it'll be a couple of hours drive 😊❤
Just a tip: use a plastic spoon to stir your melting chocolates. A metal spoon cools the chocolate while you stir it. Leaving the spoon in the chocolate cools it also, which makes you have to remelt it
I’ve had the cheaper generic brand white chocolate do the same thing to me if I added anything to it. So I figured out if I want it to turn out well, it has to be Nestle or Girardelli.
If you grease the bottom of your pan with a little butter it will hold the parchment paper down while you pour or spread your ingredients. We also make Reece's bars at Christmas and I use plain old chocolate chips. No wax needed. It will melt in your hand pretty quickly, but they are so tasty you aren't going to hold onto them very long.
Had a similar experience with chocolate melting wafers from another brand. Ghirardelli tends to have a better consistency for melting and resolidifying.
I put mine in freezer for like 15 minutes or so...gardening makes it learned and not poofy😄 oh and to keep parchment in the pan spraywith pam or sprinkle with water😉
looks, delicious. try adding in or replacing your white chocolate with milk powder. i think it adds a wonderful depth to the flavor. you might like it!
If you want to stop the wax paper from sliding when you are pouring it into the baking pan get a bowl of water then crumple the wax paper and wet the wax paper, drizzle a little in the pan then squeeze some of the water off the wax paper then line your baking pan this way it will not move and it stays put when you get it all in line :) just a little baking tip :) xxx
That’s a microwave popcorn bowl, lol. I have the same one and got it on Amazon too. It comes with a clear flat lid with vents. You just put the raw popcorn kernels into the bowl with a little oil, cover it with r he lid and microwave to get fresh made popcorn! It’s great and we use ours all the time!
If you melt half the chocolate for 30 seconds or until it's melted and stir, then add the rest, let it melt on the countertop, it won't seize up. Mix well with your marshmallows
Your hair looks so pretty up like that! Very attractive on you. Great video! Thank you! - I am watching again the next day for the nougat recipe and I am wondering if you added just 2 TBSP more of butter and only melted the marshmallows first with just the butter and then once that is all melted add the chips and I think it will be easier to stir and spray your spatula with oil (just a little) to stir the mixture. Just a thought! Thanks again for all these great recipes!
I’m wondering the best way to store the nougat candy so that it doesn’t get too hard. Thanks for the recipes and tips! I make Buckeyes, which are peanut butter balls. I need to try using the microwave. It looks easier than my old fashioned way! I have to get the tools for dipping!
Your Microwave Bowl is a popcorn bowl, there is a yellow lid that goes with it. I had one for years, best Microwave bowl I ever owned. I’m going to try the nougat recipe! I love that stuff!lol
I think if you melt the marshmallows a little before putting in the white chips that would work better. I have been making different kinds of candy for years and I never had the trouble she had with the chips.
If you use sour gummies rather than dots it is delish. I make it all the time and everyone calls it Jackie’s taffy. I also make it thinner and use parchment paper on top to push it down.

Those Brachs candies were amazing!!! Something for everyone in that little white bag that you measured for yourself. Wonderful days
Yes I remember Brachs. Mom bought bridge mix, choc stars and choc covered peanuts.
Loved those as a kid.
I made a comment similar and then I saw yours. Yes, these definitely remind me of the Brachs pick- a -mix jelly nougats. They were always my favorite!
This💯💗 The thumbnail alone brought me here✨💗💗💗💗
The white nougat with these gummies was my favorite at the Sears candy counter. Do any of you remember the square counter of candies at Sears? The chocolate stars were another of my favorites!!

Yes! I loved the hot cashews in that greasy, salty paper bag, oh what memories 😇

The margarine had a piece of wrapper in it yummm
Omg I’m so glad someone else noticed lol
I saw that haha
Just like a king cake, the finder gets good luck for the year!
A method that I learned is I use almond bark and put it in a crockpot on low. Melts beautifully and keeps the chocolate smooth and easy to dip.
Do you put on high or low and for how long.
When you use parchment paper crumple it in your hands before you line your pan. It forms exactly to the pan without curling.
I'm going to try that!
Love this tip thank you
That’s how I do it!
If you run water over the crumbled parchment paper, shake the water off and there's no need to cut it! Learned this from a friend who was a chef. And it forms perfectly! and since its water , it evaporates easily and won't harm your recipe!
Came here for that comment ;)
Love this. Also love the background music. Sounds comforting like Charlie Brown Christmas music
One of my childhood faves....plus there was the tri colored coconut squares.. thanks for bringing back such pleasant memories ! ❤❤
I LOVED the tri color coconut candy!!!
Roll dots in corn starch and place in food processor using just the pulse. You can add more of the starch and brush of the excess afterwards.
someone will get a special surprise in their bite of colorful candy.
I noticed that too lol
@@untilwemeetagain709 same
I think we all noticed and told her to pick it out, of course, she couldn’t hear us…lol.

I haven't seen these in a while.
@It.Is.Not.Me.It.Is.You.1 I picked up the ingredients on my grocery order today, so sometime this week I'll be trying the recipe out. 😋
Yes, I loved the display and the candies.

My mother married my stepfather 1 month after she met him. I'm loving your recipes.
That chocolate/marshmallow base looks quite versatile. You could probably use just about any candy.
The nougat is great with oreos to make cookies n cream. Instead of dots just use chopped up oreos. Im thinking of trying the nutter butter cookies this year.
My husband and I married 6 months after meeting, been married 35 years. Also my parents married 6 months after they met. ❤
Does anyone remember those wax lips that we ate as a kid? And we are still alive.
Yes people have no idea how much wax they eat in food. You literally just poop it out! LOL
I loved those and the orange whistles or harmonica wax
I still have a pair of waxed lips, that I brought about 17 years ago in a candy store, lol never opened them up
I remember those! It was one of my favorite things to get for Halloween, that wax tasted so good! I would chew it until it lost its flavor then throw it away.
I know I am showing my age but what about chewing the wax from the top of the homemade jelly and jam.
I love dots candies for some reason. I used to love trading everyone's chocolate for DOTS.
I have been making them for several years now, but I use Spice Drops instead of Dots. Family loves them,
I made the nougat candies from a recipe I saw about 4 years ago, and it was during covid, and I lived alone. Took forever for me to eat them all. LOL
I also made some with Crows, because I like black licorice. Those were the bomb!!!!

OMG! Your peanut butter balls look exactly like the ones my mom used to make when we were growing up! And yes, my mom used the wax!
In the Midwest we called them buckeyes
the peanut butter balls are called buckeyes
Are they still Buckeyes if not made to look like Buckeye nuts??
Some peanut butter balls are the ones with rice crispness in them. Delicious 😋
I would do maybe the life savers gummies not a fan of the dots but your candy looks good .Thank you for sharing ❤️
These videos just put me in a good mood! Thank you for sharing! ❤ everything looks so yummy!
Going to try this for sure. (NOUGAT)
Ghirardelli is always great ❤
No, I’m not drinking anything 😂 Perfect candy for the Christmas season. Love you guys.
Just a tip: use a plastic spoon to stir your melting chocolates. A metal spoon cools the chocolate while you stir it. Leaving the spoon in the chocolate cools it also, which makes you have to remelt it

That's haystack his awesome. The haystack that I grew up with was chocolate and dry chow me in noodles.
The nougat is one of my favorite recipes. I use the sour jujubes and add a splash of vanilla. So good.
I think the haystacks are better if the coconut is toasted a little.
I’ve had trouble with Nestles white chips melting. The Ghirardelli melt nicely so the added expense is worth it
Had a similar experience with chocolate melting wafers from another brand. Ghirardelli tends to have a better consistency for melting and resolidifying.
I used to buy similar candies as a kid in the 60s. I believe they were called Frenchies made by Brach's l will definitely try this recipe.
This was such a pleasure. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try all of these recipes. I love candy.
Thank you for sharing this. I'll try to make this for my brother's Christmas dinner and some for my family as well.
For the toffee, I have always used chocolate bars instead of chocolate chips. It melts perfectly and I don't have to spread it.
I put mine in freezer for like 15 minutes or so...gardening makes it learned and not poofy😄 oh and to keep parchment in the pan spraywith pam or sprinkle with water😉
Love an easy recipe! The base of marshmallows and white chocolate would go great with sooo many different ingredients
Omg! The peanut butter cups recipe is AMAZING!! I put them in the Oreo molds with the chocolate and they looked and tasted amazing
Love these recipes. My favorite is the peanut butter balls.
I'm loving all of these quick meals/ treats you've been making lately. How is your mom doing, I miss seeing her ❤
She's good, thanks for asking!
I love watching you make Christmas candy . I need to start collecting my ingredients so I’ll be ready to make some of these 😊❤
Yes my favorite, i wonder if it tastes the same
I can't get over the paper left on the butter. I tried. I swear, I really did.
It's not paper. It's a piece of Dots. This might help for next time. Enjoy! amzn.to/3Jyg4Fi (affiliate)
My all time favorite candy I can’t find it anymore I will be happy to try this though.Thank you!!
looks, delicious. try adding in or replacing your white chocolate with milk powder. i think it adds a wonderful depth to the flavor. you might like it!
Microwaves cook from the outside which is why you need to stir. For large items, you need to cook at a lower power. Thanks for the cookbook.
This is something i can eat im allergic to milk chocolate/dark chocolate migraines but white chocolate i can eat all day long and this is perfect!!
Thank you so much, your a great cook! I can't wait to try your recipes!! ♥♥
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy them!
So many wonderful treats. Thank you.
Marshmallow dots white choc candy looks like something I would like.
One of my favorite candies. Going to try.
if your almond bark seizes up when you add food coloring, you can add a little shortening or coconut oil to fix it.
This one by Brachs (nouget) was my Mlm's favorite candy! Thank younfor the recipe!
You make such goodies that bring back wonderful memories for me. Thank you so much!
Ty I've never made Christmas candy before , but I think I will try it now , u have great recipes thanks so much for sharing these ...🌲
I'll try making it for the holidays!
If you melt half the chocolate for 30 seconds or until it's melted and stir, then add the rest, let it melt on the countertop, it won't seize up. Mix well with your marshmallows
God bless you. I love this candy by Brachs. Yummy!❤
Ty so much for sharing your families traditions, I can't wait to make these candies 💙💙

Your Microwave Bowl is a popcorn bowl, there is a yellow lid that goes with it. I had one for years, best Microwave bowl I ever owned.
I’m going to try the nougat recipe! I love that stuff!lol
I love love love these. Used to buy them loose in Pathmark
i love love that Bowl w/ nice handle ! omgosh
Just saw similar ones in TJMaxx a few days ago.
I love them!!❤ thank you for sharing!!!
Definitely going to make Christmas candy this year and not cookies
TY
I used to make Chocolate Covered Cherries using the Parafin Wax
Lucky hubby to have such a good wife.
P.S., A tip to make parchment paper much easier to lay out in your pans... crumple it first. It works like charm!
Thank you so much for the E cook book. I've never had one and will figure this out. It is truly appreciated.
I have missed you and your family and was so glad to see this come up on my feed. Merry Christmas.🎄🎄
I use my kitchen shears to cut my dots. I found it much easier.
Great video .. I cant wait to try the Dots Nougat candies
I’ve been making goodies for many years and the idea of using the spray on my hands never occurred to me. Simple yet brilliant. 😊
My mother always made this for Xmas, it is delicious, keep in a closed tight tin.
Yum! Thanks Tawra , Mike, Jack I’m watching this video while we’re having a outage
The bowl you used to make the nougat looks just like my old microwave popcorn bowl. Never thought to use it for that kind of stuff.
Try toasting your coconut for the haystacks, also can add toasted sliced or slivered almonds.
Everything looks delicious
I think if you melt the marshmallows a little before putting in the white chips that would work better. I have been making different kinds of candy for years and I never had the trouble she had with the chips.
Thanks a bunch! I gave my print copies away as gifts! Excited to have the recipes again! Great video!
Thanks for sharing! Excited for the nougat recipe. The Brach’s nougats were my favorite and they discontinued them.
Elevate that dipping chocolate by adding a dash of instant espresso in the stirring stage.
If you use sour gummies rather than dots it is delish. I make it all the time and everyone calls it Jackie’s taffy. I also make it thinner and use parchment paper on top to push it down.
I love the look of this candy!! And I LOVE Dots❣️
