Omg, you just hit on my childhood trauma. My mother scraped out every drop she could from the bowl while I stood there begging her to leave me some. As a mother, I remember and ALWAYS leave my son enough in the bowl and beaters to make him happy. Also, I bring him choice things that he likes as a surprise treat. For example, he likes plain ground beef with salt. So, if I'm frying some up for chili or other meal, I'll fill a small prep bowl and walk it upstairs to him to eat while he finishes his homework before dinner. ❤ Food is love.
That’s so sweet. My mom used to do all those same things for me when I was little and I loved her so much for it. Trust me, your son will always remember that you thought of him that way, it’s the little things that matter so much.
Yes food is love and an awesome way to bond with family and loved ones. I too would purposely leave extras in bowl and on the beaters just to watch the joy on their little faces. Memories I will cherish for a lifetime 🥰
Yeah when we were little the left overs were the best part. Before mom could put them in the sink we grabbed them and did some pre cleaning before they were ready to be either put in the dishwasher or washed by hand.
These recipes look good, can't wait to try them. A hint to help manage the unruly parchment. I use binder clips along the edges to hold the paper in place.
The first recipe I make chocolate truffles with. I use big Hershey bars, cool whip and roll them into 1" balls and roll them in nuts, or coconut, or leave them plain!! So good!!!
I just want to say Thank you for the E-cookbook. I've never owned an actual cookbook before. And I'm 52! I started cooking at 9yrs old for my younger brothers. We were latchkey kids & I wanted to help out so my mom & dad could rest when they came from & went to work. They had crazy shifts. My mom commuted from Denver every day & my dads schedule fluctuated between 1st & 3rd shifts. So basically I'm self taught. I've always learned by watchin & doin! I had to learn from wherever & whomever I could before TH-cam was a thing! I get asked for my recipes often but I rarely use actual measurements so those are hard to share. Anyway, I'm excited to see all the recipes & make everything proper! Again, thank you so much for such a lovely gift. ❤
a recipe I use you'd like is 2 ingredient macaroons- 3 C unsweetened coconut- 1 can of sweeten condense milk- put it in the freeze over night- grease cookie sheet like you are putting on cold cream. Drop mixture by teaspoon on the the cookie sheet - bake at 30 till tops are golden color- let them cool completely before removing from cookie sheet. Optional - put small amount of melted chocolate on top an sprinkle with crushed almonds.
That's a different version of Haystacks i didnt know about. We use butterscotch chips, peanuts and chow mein noodles. Thanks for your video! I like easy peasy recipes
We always use the butterscotch & chow main noodles but I don't really care for them. Love, love coconut & will make these the cherry mash, and turtles & try toffee not sure about not burning it. My electric stove needs the temp regulated, so we will see. Love simple, no bake everything. 😂TY for the tips & goofs which you made "lemonade" with which really helps a beginner(at 78 lol) candy maker. ❤
Reminds me of making candy with my mom. ❤ We didn't have microwaves back then. She liked to make divinity, fudge and also a variety of yummy baked desserts for the holidays. I know with the microwave you have to do it in increments to make sure it doesn't make the chocolate to dry or burnt. I think there is powdered food coloring? The red didn't seize up the second time with the cherry flavour? Maybe you just needed to remelt the red chocolate?
I want to do the same with walnuts. Grind some to mix with choc & add 1 whole half of nut pressed a little on the top. Love nuts & add them to a lot of desserts.
Your white chocolate seized up because you never, NEVER add liquid to chocolate. The tiniest drop can cause a whole batch of chocolate to seize. You need to add oil based coloring. Another option is to use red candy melts which would be the easier option
@@donnamalone324 True. Oil based food coloring (and flavors) are designed for chocolate. I've been known to seize my chocolate on accident now and then, too. I turn those batches into ganache by adding just enough more (hot) milk to smooth it back out. There's always something that benefits from a good splodge of ganache!
@judyharding2702 Ganache is when you add just the right amount of a water based liquid (usually cream) to melted chocolate that it doesn't seize, but becomes liquidy and smooth while hot, and thicker but still smooth when cold. The insides of chocolate truffles are usually ganache, and so are the drippy bits on drip cakes. Ganache can be fudgey or runny, depending on how much liquid there is compared to chocolate. I hope that helps. :)
One of the Christmas candies my Mother used to make every Christmas was Cherry Mash (I haven't ever met up with anyone else who made it...brought back fond memories)
I make the caramel turtles too.Except for I make it easy on myself. And I put a rolo on the middle and bake it. I also use pretzels for people who don't like nuts
I used to coat my chocolate like you did here for the first candy. I found that if you put all the pieces in rows on a cookie cooling rack with a baking sheet underneath and pour the melted chocolate over them… SO much easier. Takes way less time and minimal mess. Can’t wait to try this recipe for Christmas! Yum! New sub btw. 😁👋👋😋👍
I love that you are a messy candy maker just like me 😂 I have never had success microwaving chocolate. I always use the stovetop with a tad but of coconut oil
My Mom made haystacks with butterscotch chips and chowmein noodles. I’m not sure what else was in it. It looked more like hay than the chocolate. One of my son’s favorites.
Ahhhh like fresh air what a real kitchen and cooking process without all manicuring..... more that's what i call an old fashioned Christmas! New sub here!
I use a spatula with a silicone head to Pat sticky stuff like this in the pan. Doesn’t stick to it and you can push the gooey down where you want it. I’m trying this tonight!
I make my haystacks with Chinese noodles ( the ones in the can or bag - they’re dried). That and the white chocolate chips. I also have a bark recipe that no one believes has only two ingredients!! lol. ❤❤
Thank you so much for the ebook cookbook. I love your videos. I love your hair up like that in French curls! Very becoming. Have a blessed holiday season.
Yummy!! Your candy looks delicious and easy to make! My kind of recipes especially if your making a lot. Love the TH-cam videos, and can’t wait for the next one.
I think I would scoop the mixed ingredients out on a baking sheet covered in parchment with a 1” cookie/ice cream scooper If the mix is to sticky I would dip the scooper in water and shake excess water off before I dip into mix again Cool Cover with chocolate Return They will look like bom boms
Thanks for the videos! I have a question. You did not tell us how you prepared the dipping chocolate on the cool whip candies? Can you please update me? I’ve never made candy but I want to try these.

I'm thinking I would probably heavily grease the pan instead of using parchment paper for the Cool Whip Candy.😋
Thank you so much! Cant wait to try these out!! Love that "Don't worry" apron lol I need one of those 😆

That's a great idea!
Funny, me too!
Clothes pins work well also
One could also grease the pan, to make the paper stick to the pan.
You wad it up really good and then smooth it out and it will stay in place
First time I’ve watched your video. I love how you leave mistakes in there and that encourages me to go ahead and try your recipes.

How do u make them,I'm not a great baker,but can cook.Please drop recipe if u don't care.
The cool whip candy is soooo rich, too sweet! Maybe milk chocolate would be better. I’m going to try dianethompson6804 ‘s idea!

yes that's in vol. 1 and a great recipe. I don't consider it candy more of a cookie but maybe it should be a candy
The music is relaxing, I love it
Thanks!
That's starting with the spoon is giving me the chills like chalk on a Blackboard
YES!! I kept saying use a wooden spoon! lol
A tip you may find handy-I run hot water over sweetened condensed milk before I open it pour out of the can easier & a little less messy.
Thanks for the recipes , can't wait to make them for thanksgiving and christmas

I made this (the 3 musketeers with no dipping in chocolate) yesterday, keto style. I just add nuts to it and call it fudge. Pretty dang good stuff.

You can use paraffin wax in your chocolate dip for a shiny finish and to hold together good. I have used it for years for all my dipping chocolate.

I seemed 2 skip the part where you melted more chocolate I guess for dipping that first recipe. 💜💜💜
You can run the knife under hot or warm water for a few. Cuts easier that way.
Dip your knife in tack sugar when you’re cutting that fudge and it won’t stick to the knife
It looks like it would taste good if you dipped Carmel squares in that chocolate .
