When you think about how evil Sentinel Prime is, think like this... he INVENTED RACISM. There was no distinction between Cybertronians until he started removing the cogs. Discrimination didn't start until he came along.
No megaboy, not every form of discrimination is racism. There is classism, xenophobia, hatred for religious or political beliefs. That English speaking people always think of racism when they see discrimination is the reason why the US never advances socially.
And something I like is that he's similar to that old kid's movie archetype of "golden boi character who turns out to be a jerk," but combined with Big Jack Horner in just enjoying the power choosing evil has granted him. He revels in being at the top, in having the fame and power of a Prime, but he's not a complex villain with real interesting motivations, which makes it the perfect setup for Megatron to usurp his position as the true villain of the film. It's satisfying when he's killed, and but we dread what's to come next.
Bro invented racism, classism, and slavery all at once. Absolute menace. He was fun to watch because John Hamm played it perfect, but his death was so unbelievably satisfying, despite being a horrible moment for D-16/Megatron
I took my dad (who is a G1 And Micheal Bay Transformers Era fan) to see this film on opening night, I was worried it was going to be your typical, boring waste of money theater experience. But MAN, THIS FILM, blew my expectations out of the water!!! It brought out my dad’s inner childhood of the original series. I had to teach him the full lore and all the other series/movies he missed out on because I thought it would prepare him for the film, but I guess I didn’t need to. Thank you Josh Cooley for the revival of an underrated franchise. P.S: When D lowered his head, I knew his eyes were gonna turn red, but I didn’t expect him to say “I’M DONE SAVING YOU” and my heart literally dropped like when your in a roller coaster, that’s how impactful this movie is.
The marketing for this movie was utter garbage. Advertised as just another “kids” movie when it is so much more than that. A beautiful retelling of a 40 year old franchise which tf fans can tell had so much love and care put into it
I like how the movie gave us a reason why Starscream sounds the way he does. I can imagine him wanting to overthrow Megatron later despite being for the Decepticon cause and the voice being a reason to contribute to that.
Plus Starscream was an actual military leader with a pretty long history of experience, while Megatron in this movie proved that he really isn't much of a tactician and resorts to blindly lashing out at whatever he's angry at or sees as being in his way.
Transformers are the kind of media that depend on toy sales to do good which I never worry about because Transformers toys are literally the best toys to ever play with.
ABSOLUTELY YES. Tbh, Prime is on my top three childhood shows alongside Avatar and Clone Wars. It’s THAT GOOD in my opinion. Side note, it’s loosely tied to the Cybertron games which are ALSO top tier.

@@JustAJinx-ci6hg you clearly didn't pay attention to how Megatronus was portrayed in this film. Unlike other iterations of the character, this version stayed loyal to Primus and his fellow primes, AND was present with the others when Orion Pax was bestowed the Matrix of Leadership. Meanwhile, D-16 (in a twisted sense of loyalty) took the Cog of Megatronus from Sentinel for himself, but never considered if he truly deserved it.
I wish more people went to see this in the theater. They don’t what they were missing. I saw it on the September 22nd with my dad, since he was a transformers fan when he was a kid.

It’s really cool to know that Brian Tyler worked on this film’s soundtrack because fun fact: He also worked on the music for the Transformers Prime series.
I love that TFO shows off a good example of "don't kill because we're better than them" trope. All the fighting everyone did before D-16 executed Sentinel was in self-defense. They were always on the defensive; once Sentinel's lies were exposed, however, he was dethroned, emptied of all his authority and respect. At that point, D-16 and co had already won. There was no need for him to be killed right then and there.
Plus I feel as though people misunderstand Orion’s/Optimus’ act of mercy as him wanting to let Sentinel go scot-free. While he doesn’t want to execute Sentinel, he definitely would have wanted him to face proper justice by way of a fair trial and definite imprisonment for his treachery and crimes.
@@murk4552 He only managed to kill the Primes by surprising them at their weakest. One of the Primes had the super powerful blaster, Sentinel stabs him through the back, steals his gun, and in the confusion, immediately starts blasting the Primes. They could have taken his cog as punishment, and jailed him forever. Instead Megatron ripped him in half lol
@@murk4552 you are completely overselling Sentinel, dude. He literally backstabbed and caught them by surprise and also had a rival army ambush them. Sentinel, no matter how skilled, couldnt have done jack shit against an entire population who has been informed of his deception.
The animation and story was just incredible!! The relationship between Optimus and Megatron was so well done , felt a gut punch as their friendship crumbled..
This movie is separate from the other 2 live-action movie universes. The first live-action movies, the Bayverse movies, started with Transformers 2007 and ended with The Last Knight. The second set has Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts, and the yet-to-be-released Transformers/GI Joe movie.
This movie was absolutely incredible! The person who made the Trailer did this film such an injustice. Saw it in Theaters, it was worth it. Shame it was in an Empty Theater.
I went to go see this movie on the big screen, and my theatre was full of Transformers fans. I can guarantee that this is *THE BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE EVER!!!* Everyone in my theatre was on the edge of their seats and clapped at the end of the movie, and Ive never seen people clap for a Transformers movie before! The trailers did this movie SOOO DIRTY! Everything from the stellar animation, music, fantastic fight scenes and choreography, the story, the character arcs and fantastic voice acting was just incredible. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry truly blew me away, mainly because they absolutely killed it as Optimus and Megatron and brought a level of humanity to the characters as you truly understand where both of them are coming from and how much they care for each other as friends as it genuinely breaks your heart watching them fall apart. Brian Tyree Henry especially brought such a level of complex tragedy and emotional pain as D-16/Megatron that Ive never seen before when it comes to the character and honestly, he might be my new favourite take on Megatron. Usually Megatron has never been portrayed as a sympathetic villain who was a product of a corrupt system before in most media outside of the TF comics. I loved how you can see his thought process through his eyes and how he was genuinely happy being a miner and believed in the system, but after learning about the truth about Sentinel, his entire worldview shatters, and his mental state slowly collapses more and more. The moment he is mocked and tortured by Sentinel, D-16 finally has had enough, and the moment he accidentally shoots Orion, we see I'm going through a complete emotional breakdown seeing his best friend almost dead but also perceiving it as a betrayal as D-16 has always had to cover Orion and save him for all his recklessness. However, he still chooses to take the bullet because he is trying to save D-16 from making a terrible mistake, but ultimately, it is too late, and now only Megatron exists. Chris Hemsworth was also surprisingly excellent as Optimus Prime, and it really shocked me how much range he has as an actor/voice actor as he sounded like a young Peter Cullen. I especially love his arc of growing to understand his responsibilities and that scene where Orion inspires the miners to fight back against Sentinel was so empowering because it really shows what kind of person Orion is as I love the detail of Orion kneeling down at the miners' level because, unlike Sentinel, he was one of them and saw all of them as friends and family and inspiring all of them like a good father figure, which is everything Optimus Prime should be, a noble, hopeful leader whos never afraid to be gentle or compassionate to others. The movie is also surprisingly dark, as the trailers did not do this movie justice. There are genuinely a few mature and gruesome moments that shocked me and made me question whether this was a PG movie? It may have some moments of fun and levity for kids, which is funny, but when it needs to, it knows when to take itself seriously. It knows that the audience is smart enough to understand the Transformers franchise lore, which I appreciate. Im just disappointed with how poorly Paramount marketed this movie was as it truly deserved better promotion for such a great movie and yet the box office has many concerned that we might not even get a sequel, which I really hope this movie does get a trilogy of Transformers animated films because there is still so much potential to dive into the Civil War of Cybertron, the Quintessons, how Cybertron ultimately collapsed from the war and explore these characters on a deeper level.
What immediately hit me with this movie was that it has the vibe of an old high-quality Cartoon Network TV-movie in like 2005. While watching this movie, I felt like a kid again, and I was getting flashbacks of staying-up way to late as a 9year old watching Cartoon Network during the days when children's entertainment was actually produced with the same amount of passion (if not more) than adult entertainment. I miss those days man... that vibe alone was enough to make me cry in the first 5 minutes of the movie, and I'm not even a transformers fan.
I say this anytime I watch a TFO reaction, but I'll say it again: I *love* the parallels between D-16 getting OFF his knees in the face of Sentinel, versus Orion Pax getting DOWN onto his knees to speak to his fellow miners to face Sentinel. Beautiful.
Movie was so amazing. The animation, the VA work, and how DARK it got. When D-16 goes "No I want to kill him!" I literally went WOW in the theater hearing that. I really hope this starts off a new series of movies based on this One (ha, puns).
31:40 this is easily my favorite fight moment in the entire movie because it perfectly scratches that itch of the obligatory "optimus bodies a whole group of decepticons because he's just like that" scene
Best Transformers movie ever made in my opinion. I started off with this franchise with Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime, and I’m glad the franchise is still going
What I love about this movie is that it's both a great entry point for new fans and full of easter eggs for the existing ones. Even the background characters with no dialogue are fan favorites, and every name on the race leaderboard is real. All that and so much more. You can tell this movie was made with love and care.
10:01 If you think she’s creepy in this film, you should see how she is in Transformers: Prime. In that series, she’s a psychotic murderer, and it was still a kid’s show! Speaking of, I definitely recommend watching Transformers Prime. If you needed any other exposure to the franchise aside from the movies, believe me, you’ll want to watch that series.
6:01 The Main Reason Peter isn’t voicing Optimus Prime is because he himself confirmed that he will do Live Action Projects but he’s giving his Blessing let others voice his Iconic Character in Animated Projects
Remember when movies used to take like half a year to come out on DVD? Hell remember VHS? And now I can see this in theaters the same week someone makes a reaction on youtube!
This Movie was a complete masterpiece, it needed more attention than it should have, but I would recommend to watch Transformers Prime, it is the best transformers show anyone could ask for
The way writers depict orgins of good guys turning to bad guys is always chilling when you know the story. Like anakin to darth vader, Magento in Xmen first class, etc
oh I'm so glad y'all did this I've been fanboying over this movie for weeks and seeing y'all enjoy it so much is really heartening. Highly recommend the various TF shows although some of the older ones might be a hard sit through if you aren't a fan of mid 90s CG animation. TF Prime, however, and the War for Cybertron games, I think are right up your alley.
That said you should absolutely check out the 1986 animated movie as well. Just keep in mind it came in after two seasons of television and was supposed to be a bit of a restart point for the franchise.
This was such a wonderful surprise. Please… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Watch Transformers Prime, Transformers Animated, and some of Generation 1 (1984) & the G1 movie (1986). If you’re truly interested in more of the lore and this type of action, TF Prime is the closest.
This movie was SUCH an unexpected delight, and I was genuinely flabbergasted from how much I personally enjoyed it. I really wished more people were able to watch it, because something about the plot and schematic development was SOOO well thought out and devastating at the same time.
Just to be clear this movie has nothing to do with any of the live action movies. It’s a separate continuity. The same can be said for the shows most of them reside in their own continuity with little overlap. There are shows that directly tie into one after another, but that’s not true for all of them.
The trailers did this movie no justice. After reading early reviews saying that exact description, I gave the movie a shot and told my friends the same thing. The amount of references to the previous Transformers works, storytelling, and the much darker tone revealed in the movie was so well-done. I'm hoping that the other movies are produced in the future!
Omg as a huge Transformers fan this is amazing…also Yes this is its own continuity it is Not connected to the bay films 😅 Edit: YALL Gotta watch *TRANSFORMERS PRIME* it’s the best TF show imo 🔥
The games War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are not only the best Transformers games but are also two of the best that I have played, personally. They also have some of the best narratives in Transformers and are actually messily tied to the show Transformers Prime, which is also top tier.
Please continue supporting Transformers One man. It's one of the best Transformers films and it deserves more attention. See it cinemas, buy digitally or physically and even buy the toys. It's great movie and we deserve a trilogy !
Fun fact this movie takes place in the war for cybertron universe serving as a prequel to the events of the game, and hopefully, the start to more war for cybertron movies
I don’t understand the hate this movie gets, it’s such a refreshing new take on transformers, the comedy was just right and the origin of Optimus and Megatron is something I think they nailed with this perfectly
i feel like most people who actually saw it liked it, it just had really crap marketing that kept a lot of people from giving it a chance. I remember being extremely unimpressed with the trailers, just saw it out of spite like the bayverse movies...and ended up loving it.

Hell yes, thanks for helping promote TFOne. Def should check out some of the animated series even Beast Wars. Also if you want a game series to play, you gotta play War for Cybertron series, sadly it is no longer on Steam so you will need a physical copy. Also the thing with TFOne was that word of mouth is what saved this film as the trailers and ads screwed it over badly with how childish they made it seem.
YEEEEEEEEESS holy shit I was REALLY hoping you guys would see this one, and Im so glad its before the live action movies, even something to bear in mind tho, Transformers One, the Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beasts, Transformers 07 through to The Last Knight, ALL separate continuities One exists in an entirely separate realm from any of the live action movies up to this point AND predates any of their events, and Bumblebee and RotB act as like a reboot prequel series that take place LONG before 2007, Bumblebee takes place in 1987 and RotB in 1994 there are plenty of references and callbacks to each other, but they do not take place in the same timeline

Its a masterpiece and the highest rated Transformers show. And its free to watch on the Transformers World TH-cam channel. Be aware that Transformers has at least a dozen, if not dozens of different unconnected continuities. Most of which feed off of each other for inspiration and story aspects. Edit: War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are must play games imo
So glad y’all enjoyed it! Transformers franchise has got some SUPER deep lore. Visually, this film has so many references and details for fans, but also condenses decades of lore into a form of introduction for new fans. The best part, imo, is that you can tell the people who worked on this movie grew up with shows like TFAnimation and specifically TFPrime/the entire Aligned Continuity. Even the score was made by the same guy who made the TFP score! (I highly recommend the main theme from TFP). In terms of games, War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are probably the most popular from what I’ve seen. There is multiplayer, just not co-op split screen
4:35 If you guys wanna watch any Transformers cartoons, I highly recommend watching Transformers Animated. It has an art direction similar to Ben 10 & Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, it's cast includes Greg Cipes (who voices Beast Boy), Bill Fagerblake (who voices Patrick Star), and Tom Kenny (who voices Spongebob). But I will tell you this, it was supposed to have a season 4, but it got scrapped when the Bayverse and the HUB network were in production.

@@williamharmon4039he really got that "you ain't that guy man" energy but damn that scream though "I! Am! Megatron!!! "
@@redandrit2105
Oh yeah. Gave me chills.
Yeah, that to me was insane how Megatron nearly crushed his vocal cords and that was the result.
Agreed, very cool detail when you consider Starscream always had the highest voice of the transformers, more or less
Transformers are the kind of media that depend on toy sales to do good which I never worry about because Transformers toys are literally the best toys to ever play with.
Wrong. Bionicle figures are the best toys to ever play with. But this transformers film is quite lovely.
I highly recommend watching transformers prime for more content its the highest rated show the franchise has made
Been saying this for the past month
ABSOLUTELY YES. Tbh, Prime is on my top three childhood shows alongside Avatar and Clone Wars. It’s THAT GOOD in my opinion.
Side note, it’s loosely tied to the Cybertron games which are ALSO top tier.
I’m pretty sure it won awards too.
@@Gaspatim have you been doing this daily? Because they mentioned how repeating recommendations on youtube comments hurts on the algorithm which them less likely to react to the show recommended.
Animated and prime are in my opinion the S rank shows (a few others do come close) but prime is definitely much better for new fans.
I wonder how Megatronus would feel seeing his biggest fan use his name for the Decepticons and seeing his face used for their cause.
He's like that one meme of Mr Incredible to Syndrome going "You're not affiliated with me!"
Seems like Autobot Propaganda to me.
If he could, Megatronus would scold Megatron through the Cog that Was taken and haunt Megatron till he either concedes or outright tunes out Megatronus.
@@LockeLynx Sounds like Goody-two-shoes Autobot pandering to me.
The advertising didn’t do it any favors, it over played the comedy and made it look a little more “kiddie” than it was, which to be fair this is a movie that fans of ALL ages can enjoy, as it should be.
@@jeremytung1632 i know I mean their was some strong language but I heard the three cuss words in pg films before. I still loved it though. Hopefully, it will do better on streaming.
It’s really cool to know that Brian Tyler worked on this film’s soundtrack because fun fact: He also worked on the music for the Transformers Prime series.
This movie was probably the best transformers movie since 86.
What about bumblebee?
@@Therealones745 gotta say bumblebee is Good but TF one really topped it imo
@@Therealones745 Bumblebee was good, but TF One was something special. (Bumblebee has the best live action designes though)
That ain't too surprising considering majority of the competition (minus Bumblebee and I'd day Rise of the Beasts)
The '86 movie would be a PERFECT choice for them to react to, now that they know the origin story, they can watch what happens in the future lol
For more Transformers content, I wholeheartedly recommend Transformers Prime, Transformers Animated, and Transformers Cyberverse.
Prime was good. Had the most badass representation of Soundwave I've seen yet... and solidified my allegiance to Decepticons.
the '86 movie would be fun too
G1 was better in my opinion
Beast Wars all the way, dated CGI but the story and characters were so good
@@Kutomi1 Not gonna lie, I sat in the theatre asking "Where's Megatron's Energy mace [spiky ball and chain weapon]?"

@@bryannkamWho is going to imprison Sentinel? Like this mf killed the PRIMES!
@@murk4552 He only managed to kill the Primes by surprising them at their weakest. One of the Primes had the super powerful blaster, Sentinel stabs him through the back, steals his gun, and in the confusion, immediately starts blasting the Primes. He undoubtedly had a great plan, but he was not overly powerful. He had the most powerful cog in existence and, in a fair fight, still lost to the physically weaker Megatron. He was beaten. They could have taken his cog as punishment, and jailed him forever. Instead Megatron ripped him in half lol
Nah, eat the rich
@@murk4552 you are completely overselling Sentinel, dude.
He literally backstabbed and caught them by surprise and also had a rival army ambush them. In a straight 1v1 Sentinel vs any Prime he would lose hard and Sentinel vs all the primes? Would have lost even harder.
Same when I went to see it in a theater...I was the only one in the theater screening it
I was literally the only person in my theater, and that's just tragic.
D-16 caught him. Megatron let go
Best Transformers movie ever made in my opinion.
The most based thing for a voice actor of his caliber
Remember when movies used to take like half a year to come out on DVD? Hell remember VHS? And now I can see this in theaters the same week someone makes a reaction on youtube!
It's so weird!! I do wish if the movie stayed at theaters for a while, but it stinks that the movie's marketing is so bad. :(
This Movie was a complete masterpiece, it needed more attention than it should have, but I would recommend to watch Transformers Prime, it is the best transformers show anyone could ask for

The birth of Optimus and Megatron was so god damn hype to see in the theater, I nearly started shedding tears. This movie deserves to make way more.
To quote the many people I’ve seen say it because it’s so true “D-16 caught Orion, but Megatron let him go….”
Came into this movie blind, left the cinema as a renewed Transformers fan. I'm hooked, I've already made plans to binge the older cartoons.
Fun fact: this is the same director for Toy Story 4
Oh my god I didn't put together the A-a-tron/A-a-ron joke when I saw this in theaters.
This movie was SUCH an unexpected delight, and I was genuinely flabbergasted from how much I personally enjoyed it. I really wished more people were able to watch it, because something about the plot and schematic development was SOOO well thought out and devastating at the same time.
31:25 It was more due to bad marketing rather than people dunking on it. Kinda just flew under the radar because nobody was talking about it.
Just to be clear this movie has nothing to do with any of the live action movies. It’s a separate continuity. The same can be said for the shows most of them reside in their own continuity with little overlap.
There are shows that directly tie into one after another, but that’s not true for all of them.
oh hell yea! it’s Transformin’ time, excited to see this reaction
The humor in this film feels weirdly indie, like jokes I'd see in Digital Circus, which I'm not complaining that means the humor is pretty good
The trailers did this movie no justice. After reading early reviews saying that exact description, I gave the movie a shot and told my friends the same thing.
The amount of references to the previous Transformers works, storytelling, and the much darker tone revealed in the movie was so well-done.
I'm hoping that the other movies are produced in the future!
Omg as a huge Transformers fan this is amazing…also Yes this is its own continuity it is Not connected to the bay films 😅

something to bear in mind tho, Transformers One, the Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beasts, Transformers 07 through to The Last Knight, ALL separate continuities
One exists in an entirely separate realm from any of the live action movies up to this point AND predates any of their events, and Bumblebee and RotB act as like a reboot prequel series that take place LONG before 2007, Bumblebee takes place in 1987 and RotB in 1994
there are plenty of references and callbacks to each other, but they do not take place in the same timeline

The music that plays when they find the Primes in the cave is a modified version of the Transformers: Prime show's theme. Transformers Prime is another show you guys absolutely NEED to watch. Its a masterpiece and the highest rated Transformers show. And its free to watch on the Transformers World TH-cam channel.
Be aware that Transformers has at least a dozen, if not dozens of different unconnected continuities. Most of which feed off of each other for inspiration and story aspects.

Transformers Prime (2009) / Transformers Animated (2007) They’re up there with One and the OG cartoon as the best of the franchise.

If you guys wanna watch any Transformers cartoons, I highly recommend watching Transformers Animated.
Also has David Kaye as Optimus, which makes it funny when you remember something. yeessss a very funny history. With him in particular.

This was my favorite among the Transformers franchise... I got total goosebumps when Orion and D embraced their own destiny.
So much underrated which makes me sad.
This movie is a prime example that marketing is super important or else a good movie would risk failing
This movie is such a good example of great storytelling and perfect pacing. The moment you feel the movie slowing down, it picks up the pace instantly. And d16's mood switches were perfectly timed. And why did Optimus still turn into a semi truck?

The way I see it when they showed the flashback with Orion telling D that we'll watch each others' back really goes back to when D shot at Orion. In Orion's perspective, he saw himself having D's back to not allow him to fall further into darkness, whereas in D's eyes he saw the one bot he thought who had his back betray him by taking a hit for Sentinel.
