The lack of understanding the difference between killing in an active combat zone for your own protection and executing a defeated defenseless enemy in front of the public is wild.
In Megatron’s defense, Sentinel is too dangerous to be left alive. Knowing what he did, Sentinel could still bribe people when he’s on trial to get away with his crimes. What is wrong about Megatron, however, was that he shot Optimus and dropped him to die then tried to endanger civilians.
Also we doesn't even got confirmation if those fodders are living being or not, in other tf series usually they are either clones or just programmed drones. It does make sense because all of them look the same. And make sense too because sentinel must have trust issues to just using real living being.
Exactly. I've seen a few reactors say Orion was being hypocritical, but there is a big difference between killing in battle, a survival mechanism, and killing in cold blood without government sanction.
There's also the political issue. One is a nameless soldier while the other is the ringleader. It's not to say the latter shouldn't get capital punishment, but alas, while they deserve worse than the grunts, they nonetheless get the luxury of due process.
the reason orion stopped d-16 in that moment was not to save sentinel, but to save d-16 from giving into his rage. we see it in the scene directly after, megatron never stops at one. its clear in that moment that d-16 wasnt just being driven by revenge, but now an active lust for blood and violence. the idea that orion would be against sentinel being killed or punished is just bs. he literally hit him with a train earlier in the movie, i dont think thats his issue. its the whole "executing him while he's on the ground in front of the entirety of cybertron". not to mention, it wasnt d-16's decision to make in that moment. sentinel wronged ALL of the transformers, and it is a selfish decision to put himself and his interests above the rest. orion seems more inclined to a just conclusion by fair trial.
Plus, Sentinel was a veritable energon mine of information on the Quentessants. He probably knew everything about their operations on Cybertron, information that was lost when D-16 stopped trusting his brother.
And besides, if sentinel was executed without Orion trying to stop D-16, then all of cybertron (except the high guard) would fear D and see him as a tyrant rather than a hero, leader, or even just a savior.
Exactly. This wasn’t Orion saying ‘I’m afraid to do this’. This was Orion saying ‘I’m afraid of what doing this will do to YOU because you are my brother.’ It was fundamentally an act of love that Megatron rejected in his rage.
Like the other other comment I've seen about this topic, I agree. He did kill sentinel, but it didn't resolve that inner rage and conflict he had after. Instead it had no where to go since it didn't get resolved at all, and pointed out at anything that doesn't agree with his ideals
28:20 The reason Optimus cared about Megatron executing Sentinel was because Optimus knows that when Sentinel is defeated, people will look to them for leadership. The killing part doesn't matter, it's how in the eyes of the people. Starting a new era with your new leaders broadcasting a live execution would send the message to their entire species that the strong rule over the weak, and this rebellion was revenge, not for justice. He can still be punished to death after being tried in court, but straight up Kratos L3+R3ing a dude is not how you want to show you're worthy of running their civilization.
Exactly. Violently executing the old tyrant without anything resembling due process doesn’t say ‘start of a new era of peace and prosperity’, it says ‘meet the new boss, same as the old boss’.
@@caffeinedelusionshey, remember when this happened in the ides of March at Rome? Yeah the next decades were good for people under Augustus after they beat the shit out of the murderers of Caesar. Nah ain't no way they're comparing self defense to killing a defenseless sentinel that was practically begging for mercy 💀 The drone that punched B's mask got his hand broken and still attacked and killed, the two that saw B with knife hands ran away and optimus told B to leave them
So many transformers fans are wusseys. He wasn’t just a regular “enemy” he wanted to enslave the human population and kill a prime . That’s treason in the highest regard . That’s prison in life or Death in the U.S and in most countries. Bayverse Optimus is a realistic depiction and take of the character . He’s a war general and leader. Given how the deceptions were literally portrayed to be demonic and pure evil . You can’t be worse than that . Bayverse Optimus is a realistic Optimus , it’s not a kids cartoon anymore . Most of the people who bash bayverse ignore all of the positives and act aggorant and act so weak . Sentinel prime literally stated to Optimus “you can never make the hardest decisions”. Which he was referring to betraying the humans and rebuilding cybertron , but it was alluding to not letting sentinel get away or have mercy . He wasn’t a random enemy . He committed treason of the highest regard. And nearly killed Optimus.
Bumblebee killed soldiers in active conflict that was about to shoot Orion, while Megatron was literally trying to execute sentinel who was defenseless, injured and in public those are two completely different things
Optimus never kills unless he has too in the movies they didn’t have that crucial part of his character to the point where Peter Cullen even said he didn’t like saying a lot of the lines because that’s not Optimus
The one thing the movies did right is making Optimus smart enough to kill his enemies isntead of this fucking "don't kill him or we're as bad as him" bullshit
@@Morten_Storvikexcept it’s been established over and over in Bayverse that Cybertronians are still highly dangerous and only truly defeated unless they’re dead. Hell, it’s also been established that they need to be literally ripped to shreds to ensure that they STAY dead or else they come back to life and continue fighting the war.
@@Morten_StorvikIt's because of that Megatron and the decepticons win in Cybertron, because of that a lot of people lost they lives, sometimes you have to do what is necessary and stopping playing the hero
The defining line of Optimus Prime as a character is ‘Be strong enough to be gentle’. Being strong enough to be gentle is being strong enough to protect those that can’t protect themselves. Optimus Prime is willing to kill… but not without good purpose, and not without weighing the consequences before the decision gets made.
Really? Calling Orion Pax dumb? D-16 could only see what he needed to destroy, not what he needed to protect. If he executed an already defeated Sentinel, he would never stop, because hate and vengeance would continue to move him and everyone would become a new potential threat that could stand in his path and would need to be killed too. Trying to stop D-16 was trying to prevent him from becoming tyrannical and cruel.
@@siwatchphanratisra2408thank god I read the comments, had bad after taste after some of their reactions(reason why now I check the comments first)… guess I’ll be skipping this reaction (😅 not the first one).
Exactly. Let’s not forget what the first thing D-16 did when he officially became Megatron after putting Megatronus Prime’s cog in his chest. He said “BURN IT DOWN! *ALL* OF IT!!” He immediately proceeded to blow up parts of the city. He didn’t want to reform Cybertron’s civilization, he wanted to tear it down and build it as he saw fit. He was consumed by his rage and anger to the point where he wanted to raze everything around him into the ground. Orion saw the dark path his brother was heading towards and tried to stop him from becoming a monster. Sadly, Orion couldn’t save D-16 from himself.
@@RogueShinobiXX25he’s also not entirely defenseless cuz he’s literally a living weapon too. Look away for one sec he could transform into something worse
@@RogueShinobiXX25 Megatron took everyone's freedom away. He selfishly became the sole judge, jury, and executioner of Sentinel. He's not the only one Sentinel wronged. Optimus was on the side of doing things the right way - which means leaving his fate up to the people, to EVERYONE he wronged. Megatron was selfish, angry, and just wanted to feel better. Optimus saw the bigger picture and knew this was the entirely wrong way to have a transfer of power.
Those who agree with Megatron’s action, just prove they’re unworthy of the Matrix as well. You shouldn’t want anyone dead, there’s a difference between justice and vengeance. Optimus knows it, Primus knows it, and so do I.
"muh beggin for mercy" ☠️☠️☠️ Bruh is smooth brained and lost the point Killing was the easy way out for him, when the only thing everyone in Iacon deserved was justice for his crimes
Lol, he became defenseless when Megatron injured him, so it is the same. Sentinel even had the upper hand in the beginning of the fight. It’s not like D-16 confronted him when he was crippled, before the fight began.
@@davonbenson4361 and? the end result is the same. You would absolutely be charged with a war crime if you went around a battlefield executing enemies that you crippled during combat.
Ngl y'all kinda slow bro not trying to be offensive but y'all gotta actually stop watch and think. There's a literal difference between killing for survival and killing someone that's defenseless
Idk how y’all don’t understand the basic principles of kill or be killed. If an active war zone of course you going to have to kill someone trying to kill you. But when someone is defenseless, begging for mercy it’s a totally different situation, ur killing someone who isn’t fighting back and has given up. It’s the equivalent to executing a prisoner after he surrendered vs killing someone trying to actively kill you
Orian being shot is also the narrative choice to show that even hurting, and potentially killing, his best friend is still not enough for D-16 to rethink his actions. Not that his anger was unjustified, but losing control of that anger and hurting everyone around you because you were hurt.
How is it even possible to not understand the difference between killing people actively trying to kill you in combat, and someone laying on the floor defeated, incapable of fighting back?
Optimus just wanted Sentinel to face proper judgment for his crimes first, while Megatron wanted to execute him out of rage. Optimus saw that Megatron was slowly losing his humanity and sacrificed his life as a last-ditch effort to make his friend see reason
It's also the fact that D16 makes it sound it's personal, when it's not only him that got robbed of when a whole nation of them are there. Optimus wanted the entirety of Iacon to judge Sentinel's crime so he can face consequences, but Megatron just wanted to prove that unity doesn't come from peaceful decisions, rather than from bloodlust and rage
@@JamesRhed935then why everyone in the movie refers to vehicons as "guys" like Bumblebee did, i'm sure as cybertronians they would know what is a drone/full robot with no sentience 🤔
Yeah and also, B-127 were attacked first, they were in a battle where the drones were also trying to kill B-127, which makes the kills self defense. But Sentinel was unarmed and trying to flee, and basically begged for mercy. So even tho Sentinel was awful and did horrible things. killing an unarmed and fleeing transformer is basically murder/execution. Meaning that D-16 would not be any better than Sentinel.
Rt tv, I don’t like that you think Optimus was being stupid, bumblebee caught bodies for sure, but the bodies of the enemies, sentinel and his crew were working for the quintessans, so he was the enemy and megatron killing sentinel, the head of the enemy was not the way to start rebuilding Iacon, and as you saw, he started wilding out and destroying the city which could have possibly killed innocent people, the bodies bumblebee caught were guilty, the traitors of cybertron, the ones who made everyone live a lie, he has a good reason to catch bodies, megatron though, whether you’re innocent or guilty, he didn’t give a damn, exposing sentinel would have been enough to defeat sentinel and avoid unnecessary damage, but of course megatron went off the deep end, and Optimus tried to stop, Optimus’s actions were justified and make sense and so was megatron’s descent to evil
I love Optimus in both the bayverse movies and in this one, but this one feels more accurate to his character for sure. His name is OPTIMUS. He always has hope after all! He wants to set an example for the generations to come. In the bayverse movies there is literally almost no future generations left to save.
Optimus in this movie would be absolutely horrified of Optimus in Bayverse. If he’s disturbed by Megatron beating up Sentinel (he didn’t witness Megatron doing the Jazz treatment to Sentinel), imagine his reaction to the Bayverse version of himself who beheaded Bonecrusher, shot Demolisher in the head, tore Grindor’s head in half, tore off The Fallen’s face while wearing a corpse of Jetfire, Gouged the eye off Shockwave, Ripped out Megatron’s head and spine and shot Sentinel in the head. Not even Hannibal Lecter would go this far.
Bayverse made Optimus Prime way too much of an angsty teenager imo. Like, I get the rage and anger, but everything else after the first three movies went to shit. The only good movie that came out of Bayverse since the third movie, is the Beast wars one...
Bayverse Optimus had been through who knows how many cycles of war with the Decepticons and had seen the literal death of his planet, so I do understand the ruthlessness from the movies. Meanwhile TF One Optimus was less than 50 cycles old, basically a kid for Cybertonians.
For some reason most reaction channels reacted the same way with optimus being "hypocritical" with the execution. Like people dont wanna follow someone with murdering intent. Also im probably like the 100th person to say this but bumblee killed drones, there's a difference.
28:09 this is something to remember, Optimus since G1 aways been a pacifist and he only go to extreme measures if is the last resort. It's one of the reasons why many fans and even Peter Cullen himself said that he never like it his character version of the Bay movies

I love how the comments are correcting these reactors and showing the difference between killing for survival and killing in cold blood/rage/revenge Which are Definitively and fundamentally different
The difference is that Sentinel at his defeat was defenseless and had no more power over Cybertron. He couldn’t do anything even if he tried. Orion’s point was that starting a leadership with killing a bot sends the message that they’ll be no better and maybe even worse, and it’ll send fear that whatever bot would be next to die if they step out of line. However, if it’s started with a fair trial, it’ll show that they weren’t motivated by power but for justice, fairness, and truth. Cybertronian people could finally heal. That’s Orion’s point. Edit: Also, the ones B killed are vehicons. Vehicons are barely more advanced than the AI we have now on Earth. They’re smart, yes, but hardly sentient and not self aware. They’re like the drones from the beginning.
You know, the sad thing about seeing all of these comments is knowing that these guys likely won't read them and even if they do read them they likely won't listen or pay attention and will continue to be as clueless as ever. I've given these guys the benefit of the doubt several times, but overtime the more annoying and dumb they've been getting during these reactions, the harder it was to keep doing that. I was genuinely excited to see this reaction, but after reading the comments and seeing the reaction for myself, I am disappointed. This is the first time I've actually disliked one of their videos. I think I won't be watching their movie/show reactions anymore, it probably won't be forever, but it'll definitely be a long while before I watch another one these. Orion Pax/Optimus Prime is not an idiot, these guys are the idiots. That is all.
Orion wasn't specifically trying to save Sentinel. But he was trying to save D-16 from losing himself in his rage, anger and his burning desire for needless violence. Sentinel was defeated and defensless. He could've been simply arrested and put on trail for treason and be sentenced to death later on. As for bee killing the soldiers, those were just drones without any spark or life. So bee gets a pass.
A comment for everyone: 1. This movie is not part of the Bayverse continuity. That ended with the Last Knight. 2. This is not the original story of Transformers, it’s a retelling that is inspired by it. The original is Generation 1 continuity. 3. Trying to shoot a political opponent after they surrender in front of everyone is not the same as killing someone in the middle of combat. 4. The golden robot soldiers are not drones, they’re clones. They just don’t talk in this movie, likely for time and monetary reasons. They look to be Vehicon clones, which are sentient (they have different names, voices, etc.).
i dont understand why its hard to comprehend that the bots apart from Airachnid who were fighting for Sentinel were DRONES who were ojt to kill them?? Theyre mindless. Also, killing a DEFEATED Sentinel in cold blood after achieving Victory by exposing him isnt Justice, its blind Vengence and Orion didnt want that for D16. Orion was the better man in that scenario, D16 lost his better judgement...just like Sentinel
@@kivash-fg9vf I'm pretty sure they were alive. They at least feared for their lives when B-127 wanted to cut them. That said, there's a difference between a rank-and-file and the ringleader of a massive deception. Sadly, rich/powerful people get afforded due process while the soldier on the front lines die a forgotten death and get accused of being a mindless drone.
Those bots were 100% sentient. Them “looking identical” is not an argument against that considering half of all transformers are just recolours of pre existing characters (Bumblebee and Cliffjumper for example). They constantly emote and react to situations just like any normal Cybertronian. They’re most comparable to the Clone Troopers of Star Wars than actual mindless soldiers. As for Dee killing Sentinel, that’s 100% justified in my books. He essentially executed Robo-Hitler. Postponing his execution wouldn’t have changed anything and imprisoning him would not be a worthier fate for someone as sick as Sentinel. He deserved what happened to him. Optimus is not the better person. He constantly kills, along with Alita and Bee (which by the way Bee is a fucking psychopath, Optimus should not be enabling him), and instead of dismantling the system that put their people down for the last 50 or so cycles he instead just becomes the new leader of it. On the other hand Megatron was a revolutionary trying to tear down the system. I think the only thing he did that was excessive was deciding to drop Optimus down the pit (though that did result in Optimus resurrecting so it was probably the best choice coincidentally). I stand with the Decepticons (up to this point), Optimus and the Autobots are a self righteous group of hypocrites.
@@rexcelsior5415 the clones have some levels of sentience since it makes them more effective than a mindless drone (seeing that they can react to stuff) but they are less alive than members of the high guard or other autobots. Yeah the reuse designs but they always have names & different colors to tell them apart. Like you said bumblee & cliff jumper have the same design but everything else is different from the voice to the colors to their personality. These drones look, sounds & act the same as each other. They aren’t individuals it’s not the same. And a random nobody like D-16 can’t just kill a leader like that. It’s like when you kill a president, it’s not his place to do that. If the people of cybertron & its government want him dead than he will be executed but if they’d rather him be in prison than it’s THEIR choice. 1 transformer can’t make that kind of decision otherwise everyone will want to throw their own kind of justice everyone which is why cybertron eventually falls And Optimus doesn’t kill defenseless transformers. There is a difference between killing someone in a fight & killing someone on the floor injured, defenseless & begging for his life And you seriously siding with Megatron? His idea of tearing down the system is mass genocide. Killing anyone & everyone against him. He even said he tear down anyone in his way. The only people he was going to keep would be his followers which is exactly why cybertron fell. HE is the one who went too far and his system wouldn’t have worked. He’d be a dictatorship, it wouldn’t matter what anyone wants, only what Megatron wants
Optimus was more against killing just sentinel because it would’ve been the same thing sentinel did to the primes the act of going from one dictator to another by murdering them that’s not how Optimus wanted to start a new society to be built on, and Megatron not following ANY leader and tweaking out destroying everything and wanting to kill every follower of sentinels was crazy ngl but i also definitely see killing sentinel as Megatron I’d be mad asf too
As much as I wish it wasn't so, TF One really is a better movie than my beloved 86 classic. The best Transformers movie yet, and if we're lucky, it'll get the sequels it deserves :)
I'm starting to believe that people are indeed becoming less media literate and more emotional than ever now. To not understand the principles of the two at the end is wild because it was so simple. Hopefully we get smarter as time moves one though.
Glad I read the comments first before playing the reaction. These guys never had the best takes in past reactions and knowing of their lack of understanding of Orion stopping D from killing Sentinel, I'm better off skipping this one lol
There’s 3 Things I have to clarify, 1. I’m ok with the Quintessons not showing up, I’m aware how much of a Threat they are but the whole point of this Movie is how Optimus Prime and Megatron began the Formation of the Autobots and Decepticons, IF the Quintessons had appeared more often it would ruin the Film and we won’t get any Sentinel Screen Time, 2. Elita wasn’t the one that had the Idea of using Arachnid to Expose Sentinel, It was Orion who did a Quick Thinking when Arachnid said “I can see Everything” showing how Clever Pax is with his Sharp Edge and Mind, and 3. Bee was done good enough, I get that the Character didn’t evolve but Bee has done Well Enough, his presence is literally the Beginning to Pax and D16’s Journey to who they are destined to become as it was a Red Flag when they found out that there’s 50 Sub Levels instead of 40, his Creation Steve has the Map, and while I thought he was going to ruin the Movie with the Comic Relief I’m surprised there’s Layers of Humanity especially when Sentinel captures him and Dee and Dee stood up when Bee didn’t want him to stand up because he doesn’t want to see his Friends Hurt, like the Quintessons I’m pretty sure Bee will Develop especially when he losses his Voice in the War, anyway this Movie was amazing, not only is it one of the Best Movies of 2024, but it’s clearly the Best Transformers Movie of all Time, the Voice Casting was Great, the Story with the Evolution of Optimus Prime and Megatron is Interesting and Heartbreaking, Sentinel Prime is one of the Best Modern Villains in a Long Time that he’s definitely giving Homelander Vibes, and the Animation and Setup are Flawless, 10 out of 10, I’m hoping this gets a Trilogy because it deserves it and I would love to see more content from this and the Franchise.
Wait, do you five genuinely believe fighting an enemy soldier in a battle and executing an already defeated enemy in front of an entire populace are similar? My brothers in Christ, WAR and MURDER are not the same thing. I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but how can you miss the point that badly?
Bros, preventing a cold blooded execution is WAY different than fighting back against soldiers fighting you. Orion was trying prevent D-16 from executing an already defeated enemy because he had already lost. Orion wanted proper justice.
The important distinction between Orion & co fighting versus D-16 executing Sentinel is that before, they were always on the defensive, protecting themselves or saving hostages. When D-16 killed Sentinel, however, he was already dethroned, stripped of his power, and couldn't even fight back. He had already lost.
22:30 “Why is he gagged?” “He wouldn’t stop talking!” “Even when he was unconscious?” “ESPECIALLY when he was unconscious!” 24:48 “Why should we follow you?” Elita-1 gets rough. “We will follow you!” 😂😂😂
This Transformers movie is awesome. One of the main reasons why I like it is because it shows Optimus and Megatron were once as close as brothers before they were enemies
*THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!!* Everything from the stellar animation, music, the fight scenes and choreography, the story, the character arcs and fantastic voice acting was just incredible. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry truly blew me away, mainly because they absolutely killed it as Optimus and Megatron and brought a level of humanity to the characters as you truly understand where both of them are coming from and how much they care for each other as friends as it genuinely breaks your heart watching them fall apart. Brian Tyree Henry especially brought such a level of complex tragedy and emotional pain as D-16/Megatron that Ive never seen before when it comes to the character and honestly, he might be my new favourite take on Megatron. Usually Megatron has never been portrayed as a sympathetic villain who was a product of a corrupt system before in most media outside of the TF comics. I loved how you can see his thought process through his eyes and how he was genuinely happy being a miner and believed in the system, but after learning about the truth about Sentinel, his entire worldview shatters, and his mental state slowly collapses more and more. The moment he is mocked and tortured by Sentinel, D-16 finally has had enough, and the moment he accidentally shoots Orion, we see I'm going through a complete emotional breakdown seeing his best friend almost dead but also perceiving it as a betrayal as D-16 has always had to cover Orion and save him for all his recklessness. However, he still chooses to take the bullet because he is trying to save D-16 from making a terrible mistake, but ultimately, it is too late, and now only Megatron exists. Chris Hemsworth was also surprisingly excellent in Optimus Prime, and it really shocked me how much range he has as an actor/voice actor, as he sounded like a young Peter Cullen. I especially love his arc of growing to understand his responsibilities, and that scene where Orion inspires the miners to fight back against Sentinel was so empowering because it really shows what kind of person Orion is I love the detail of Orion kneeling down at the miners' level because, unlike Sentinel, he was one of them and saw all of them as friends and family and inspiring all of them like a good father figure, which is everything Optimus Prime should be, a noble, hopeful leader whos never afraid to be gentle or compassionate to others. The movie is also surprisingly dark, as the trailers did not do this movie justice. There are genuinely a few mature and gruesome moments that shocked me and made me question whether this was a PG movie? It may have some moments of fun and levity for kids, which is funny, but when it needs to, it knows when to take itself seriously. It knows that the audience is smart enough to understand the Transformers franchise lore, which I appreciate. Im just disappointed with how poorly Paramount marketed this movie, as it genuinely deserved better promotion for such a great movie. The fact that one guy on Twitter single-handedly promoted the movie better than Paramount themselves and got more people to check this masterpiece is truly remarkable accomplishment. Yet, the box office has many concerned that we might not even get a sequel, which I really hope this movie does get a trilogy of Transformers animated films because there is still so much potential to dive into the Civil War of Cybertron, the Quintessons, how Cybertron ultimately collapsed from the war and explore these characters on a deeper level.
Starting a new age executing the previous leader and taking Cybertron’s future into your own hands forcefully through blood - sounds exactly like what Sentinel did, and what Megatron tried to do
@@wesleygriffiths8748 megatron was made through the greed of others, while sentinel was driven by his own greed. However that still doesn't change the outcome - excessive violence. Megatron was never going to stop just at Sentinel. Sentinel followers. Elita and Bee. Innocent people caught in the crossfire of his grief and rage. Orion gave up his life trying to stop D-16 from crossing that line.
Note on trion from past stuff. He has the ability to see into the future and fans called off hints of this. From mourning for his friend to watching Orion and D talking. It’s not always accurate but he can get a idea of events to come. So he probably knew of the ambush but not entirely sure of the outcome and he knew who Orion and D will become but not sure who would be prime. He also probably knows cybertron fate of it dying and only way to save ir is off world. There is other primes is powers, one is vector prime. He can slip into the time steam and fans noticed his body wasn’t there in that cave. Depending on continuity vector doesn’t interfere with events so he and alpha would talk on what may happen, vector slips into the stream and watches said event. But he can interfere or he may lie on what happens.
I feel like there's a difference between killing mindless soldier drones in self-defense and executing the defenseless leader of your world in front of a public audience. Orion knows the guy is horrible and deserves to die. But he has a point. Turning the guy into a martyr in front of everyone in Iacon was not the solution when Sentinel needed to face justice by everyone since Sentinel wronged an entire planet (and also they could've gotten intel about the Quintessons from him while imprisoned). That and D-16. He knew D was on a downward spiral, crashing out from having his entire belief system and way of thinking uprooted in a matter of days. He knew that if D had taken that shot, there was no coming back from it. He didn't take that shot to save Sentinel from D-16. He took that shot to save his best friend from becoming something he could never turn back from. In the end, D gave into his anger and became Megatron.
The Vehicon clones are definitely not mindless, you’d have to not be paying attention to think that. The active combat is what makes the difference. They only let Airarachnid live because they needed her and successfully captured her.
I swear people literally watched this movie with their eyes closed. D-16 is NOT a good guy. His flaws don’t lie in his ideology but his methods. YES sentinel deserves to die but the whole point of the movie is that bots like D16 had their freedom of choice stripped away and D16 is trying to make change through force. It’s literally the same thing Sentinel did. Violently ending the previous establishment and forcing the creation of a new society. He literally says earlier that he doesn’t care about sharing the truth because the people worship sentinel. It’s should be the choice of the cybertronian people whether or not sentinel gets executed and d-16 rises to power. Did you notice how Orion appeals to the downtrodden miners and Megatron appeals to the militant rebel faction with the ideal of “one bot over another”? It’s literally in your face the WHOLE movie.
Everything is right excepto for the fact that D didnt do exactly what Sentinel did, since D had a better reason to kill than he did and You also have to consider that other miners faced MOST of the same treatment as he did as S also got PERSONALLY disrespected by Sentinel unlike the others even though it still wasnt the most logical thing
@@kenysulivan95 Clown shut the fuck up. Killing in a war, in an active zone is not the same as executing a defenseless person who is begging for mercy in front of the whole population. This is what no media literacy does to stupid people.
Y'all gotta understand Orion/Prime wanted to stop D-16/Megatron from killing Sentinel because he saw him filled with _hate_ . Bumble Bee and everyone else he knew killing their enemies was different because they fought for more than themselves. But Orion saw his best friend succumbing to a darker, blood lust filled mindset, and he didn't want him to embrace that. Megatron was filled with power and anger, and he let himself be guided by hate and superiority, not nobility and heroism. He wanted to kill because _he_ was hurting, not because everyone else was. Also there's a big difference between killing people who are constantly trying to kill YOU on a battlefield, and actively hunting down someone and wanting to make them suffer even when they're defenseless and already defeated. Morally speaking, that's not good, and can fester into something worse, which it did for Megatron. He was so caught up in his hatred that he was willing to destroy his closest friend.
It wasn't about Sentinel, it was about D-16. Sentinel did deserve retribution, but Orion saw the darkness, the hatred, building up within his friend. He wasn't trying to save Sentinel from D-16: he was trying to save D-16 from himself.
The reason Orion had a problem with D-16's attempted murder of Sentinel is because it's a public execution which publicly portrays D-16 as a bloodthirsty murderer and he didn't want people to think of him in that way, he didn't want to think of him that way. One could argue that the people praised him for killing sentinel but the ones present at the monument do not speak for the entirety of Iacon. His fellow miners would change their view of him. Orion didn't have a problem with B-127 cutting up Sentinel's guard because they were armed and were actively attacking them, Sentinel was helpless and severely injured. He also tried to stop him to prevent him from giving in to his rage as we see, he becomes a nigh unstoppable force when he becomes vengeful.
I've seen a lot of their anime reactions and I'll give maybe one or two of them credit for knowing when to shut up and take a scene in. There's emotional comprehension in there but as a whole? Fuck man. Sometimes I wonder if they were watching the same shit.
Damn, ya’ll made me really dislike you and your whole channel with how brain dead you were in comparing Orion killing someone in self-defence in the middle of an active war zone and a defeated, defenceless enemy who’d already surrendered.
They kinda did show the progression of Megatron turning throughout the movie, if you watch closely you can see his eyes go from yellow, bright orange, to red. Also solid reaction 💯
It should also be noted that all this happened to Megatron is like, less than a day. Unlike Orion, who had no regard for authority and the status quo, D-16 lived by that. Then he finds out his leader murdered his hero and the other leaders. And as that sinks in over the next few minutes, he finds out that the energon he works so hard and risks his life for was being given away to their ancestral enemies. Then he finds out that he had an "organ" removed as a "baby", and that he spent his entire life as a second class citizen/slave with limited options because of that. Oh, and later he gets brought to Sentinel where he's told he's gonna be branded as a traitor, gets punched, mocked and actually branded on the chest... then gets beaten-up/losing a fight against Sentinel, until the truth gets revealed to the public. Heck, his own best friend keeps getting in his way toward the end, he accidentally shoots his friend, who just accused him of being like Sentinel just a minute earlier. And then all the cycles of Orion getting him into trouble (against a lying system) comes bubbling up. And all this was happening in a matter of less than a day's time. D-16 never had any time to let his anger cool off. It's just one thing after another, stoking the flames of rage.
I don’t think you understand that you don’t have to kill unless necessary. Orion wasn’t trying to save Sentinel, he was trying to save Megatron from being a murderer.
The entire racing sequence is my absolute favorite part of this movie. It's like a Cybertronian version of Nascar!🏎🏍🏁 Fun fact: Transformers veteran and VA Steve Blum made cameo as the Iacon 5,000 Race Announcer.
The bots they been killing were drones, not actual people/cybertronians. Plus they did it as self defense. Sentinel was not a threat anymore, he was defeated, there's no need to kill him. The point of this movie is to show that these characters are actual real characters and not just props for epic fight scenes. Killing can still have a large consequence in this world.
As a Transformers fan since G1 and the 90’s era, this movie makes me really happy to see Elita One get more focused and action. Scarlet Johansson fits perfectly for the character like she did with Black widow. I hope our favorite female Autobot lives longer in surviving the upcoming Autobot-Decepticon Civil War in future sequels. The only animated show where Elita one I know alive with Optimus Prime is in Earthspark. None of us want Orion/Optimus to suffered like he is in Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Netflix series.
The reactions of this movie really show what kind of ppl some of yall are fr. Ive seen sl very few people actually understand Optimus in any capacity and its just sad.
I even said that because if you do that it'll be seen as more senseless violence. Sentinel should have stood trial and imprisoned forever and his cog removed pernamently, that would be what I would have done but that's fir the people to agree.
So the movie is 90% canon.. like D-16 and Orion Pax being the names of Megatron and Optimus, and them being best friends (brothers from another mother 😂) is true/canon.. Megatron’s backstory can be iffy at times like most origins say that he was a miner which is how he got the name D-16 but other origins say that he was a gladiator in the arena and already had the name Megatronus.. same with Optimus where some origins like this one say that he was a miner but others say that he was a clerk working under Alpha Trion (one of the original 13 primes).. The thing that I liked the most about this movie is the events that led into the lore such as Megatron fighting Starscream for the top spot and almost breaking his voice box led to why his voice is always raspy and why he’s always trying to take over the deceptions/take leadership or Bumblebee talking a lot/being annoying led his voice box being destroyed (in majority of the lore, it is said that Megatron destroyed Bee’s voice box when he was being interrogated but wouldn’t give up info on the Autobots or the whereabouts of Optimus)
Gladiatorship was never an official vocation- It was something Megatron did for sport, and for the needed extra credits to live off of, given that mining paid essentially indentured servant wages, *while he was a miner.* Megatron was also a poet, believe it or not, but, again- That was a hobby, and an occasional source of under-the-table income & notoriety, not an actual official vocation.
I can understand why some people would be on Megatron's side when it comes to killing sentinel, but misunderstanding the difference between killing a soldier on the battlefield versus killing someone who can no longer defend themselves is ridiculous. Also, anybody who thinks that Optimus is an idiot for taking the bullet for sentinel clearly doesn't have an understanding of what conviction means.
Transformers one is definitely one of the best films of the entire franchise. It’s kinda like the prince of Egypt but if everyone were robots. But I’m hoping this movie does well, because they actually planned out a trilogy for this. Also, This movie is probably the closest will get to a non avengers team up between Thor and black widow.
Is people's moral compass so flawed nowadays that they just never seem to actually understand what the guy means when he says "don't be like x(Person who is bad)" anymore? Every reactor I've watched seems to need to visit a fucking ethics class a few times... or learn what "media literacy" means.
Its scary how this movie has revealed the many many ppl siding with D-16 executing Sentinel. I get his reasoning and he is in the right to feel the way he feels but there’s a system everything needs to be followed. Orion was trying to save his best friend from going down into a dark path.
The reactions to Optimus trying to stop Megatron is wild. Especially when one went shit about B killing many others lol. Taking lives in an ACTIVE COMBAT ZONE is different from killing A SURRENDERED ENEMY. One is justified. The other is MURDER. It's like they didnt even listen to what Orion was trying to tell D-16.
As always no one at rt tv has any media literacy or brain cells. Literally the simplest things fly over their heads. It takes talent to be this clueless.
Killing necessary enemies who have weapons that can kill you and killing a target enemy that influences the decision of Iacon City's revolution is different, these drones have no effect on the overall change in the city of Iacon as much as a kill sentinel, and you call orion pax dumb? you all never notice why he doing that.
Man, I hope this movie gets a sequel it is so nice to see a TF movie that actually has touches of comic refs and other media. 😤 The IDW comics have so much good material.
Can't wait for them to use some of the couples from the IDW comics, it's gonna make so many homophobes so mad and I'm here for it😂(the chaos I mean, not the homophobia)
The lack of understanding the difference between killing in an active combat zone for your own protection and executing a defeated defenseless enemy in front of the public is wild.
Real bro
In Megatron’s defense, Sentinel is too dangerous to be left alive. Knowing what he did, Sentinel could still bribe people when he’s on trial to get away with his crimes. What is wrong about Megatron, however, was that he shot Optimus and dropped him to die then tried to endanger civilians.
And D-16 kept killing folks after Sentential was dead . Can’t have a leader that loses control.
@@nont18411There was no reason to keep killing folks after Sentential’s death. No one wants an out of control leader.

They ain’t bright
the reason orion stopped d-16 in that moment was not to save sentinel, but to save d-16 from giving into his rage. we see it in the scene directly after, megatron never stops at one. its clear in that moment that d-16 wasnt just being driven by revenge, but now an active lust for blood and violence.
the idea that orion would be against sentinel being killed or punished is just bs. he literally hit him with a train earlier in the movie, i dont think thats his issue. its the whole "executing him while he's on the ground in front of the entirety of cybertron".
not to mention, it wasnt d-16's decision to make in that moment. sentinel wronged ALL of the transformers, and it is a selfish decision to put himself and his interests above the rest. orion seems more inclined to a just conclusion by fair trial.
Exactly! The amount of people called Optimus as stupid or asked why is genuinely concerns me.
This was Orion saying ‘I’m afraid of what doing this will do to YOU because you are my brother.’
It was fundamentally an act of love that Megatron rejected in his rage.
Like the other other comment I've seen about this topic, I agree. He did kill sentinel, but it didn't resolve that inner rage and conflict he had after. Instead it had no where to go since it didn't get resolved at all, and pointed out at anything that doesn't agree with his ideals

The reason Optimus cared about Megatron executing Sentinel was because Optimus knows that when Sentinel is defeated, people will look to them for leadership.

Let’s not forget what the first thing D-16 did when he officially became Megatron after putting Megatronus Prime’s cog in his chest.
He said “BURN IT DOWN! *ALL* OF IT!!”
He immediately proceeded to blow up parts of the city.

It’s the equivalent to executing a prisoner after he surrendered vs killing someone trying to actively kill you
They are stupid they always have bad takes
Orian being shot is also the narrative choice to show that even hurting, and potentially killing, his best friend is still not enough for D-16 to rethink his actions. Not that his anger was unjustified, but losing control of that anger and hurting everyone around you because you were hurt.

Nah man, after the 1st movie, optimus felt like a war criminal, so gruesome and violent
He has this blind optimism that other mechs admire.

I love how the comments are correcting these reactors and showing the difference between killing for survival and killing in cold blood/rage/revenge
Which are Definitively and fundamentally different
We should require media literacy courses in high school

They killed those soldiers because they didnt have a choice in battle while sentinal was already defeated and was infront of the citizens of cybertron
Killing soldiers in midst of battle and killing defenseless prisoners (e.g Sentinel) are different things.
True.
A comment for everyone:

Those bots were 100% sentient.
I think the only thing he did that was excessive was deciding to drop Optimus down the pit (though that did result in Optimus resurrecting so it was probably the best choice coincidentally).

if you pay attention, optima's never said that he would let sentinel live, just that he doesn't need to be executed right now
Optimus was more against killing just sentinel because it would’ve been the same thing sentinel did to the primes the act of going from one dictator to another by murdering them that’s not how Optimus wanted to start a new society to be built on, and Megatron not following ANY leader and tweaking out destroying everything and wanting to kill every follower of sentinels was crazy ngl but i also definitely see killing sentinel as Megatron I’d be mad asf too
As much as I wish it wasn't so, TF One really is a better movie than my beloved 86 classic. The best Transformers movie yet, and if we're lucky, it'll get the sequels it deserves :)
Both both is good.
Transformers One 🤝 Transformers The Movie 1986

I'm starting to believe that people are indeed becoming less media literate and more emotional than ever now. To not understand the principles of the two at the end is wild because it was so simple. Hopefully we get smarter as time moves one though.

Megatron saying "We were brothers once"
And Optimus replying with "once..."

Exactly. The origins, of beef even before the fall of cyberstronian planet _ war to add to your point.
In the bay movies prime and megatron would call each other brothers/mention that they were like brothers before
22:30 “Why is he gagged?” “He wouldn’t stop talking!” “Even when he was unconscious?” “ESPECIALLY when he was unconscious!”
24:48 “Why should we follow you?” Elita-1 gets rough. “We will follow you!”
😂😂😂
You guys really need to understand how movies write certain scenes.
Now imagine we get a movie about the war of cybertron it would be so peak
This Transformers movie is awesome. One of the main reasons why I like it is because it shows Optimus and Megatron were once as close as brothers before they were enemies
God dammit I’m seeing all the comments and preparing myself for the dumb shit they’re about to say. 😅

*THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!!*
Everything from the stellar animation, music, the fight scenes and choreography, the story, the character arcs and fantastic voice acting was just incredible.
Starting a new age executing the previous leader and taking Cybertron’s future into your own hands forcefully through blood - sounds exactly like what Sentinel did, and what Megatron tried to do
But the motives were entirely different. You’re oversimplifying things a little imo
Facts bro i am literally scared of some of these reactor's judgement
Everything is right excepto for the fact that D didnt do exactly what Sentinel did, since D had a better reason to kill than he did and You also have to consider that other miners faced MOST of the same treatment as he did as S also got PERSONALLY disrespected by Sentinel unlike the others even though it still wasnt the most logical thing
Bro, shut up! I swear to god bumble B offed more people than megatrone and yet he should be the one to be stopped? Why?
@@kenysulivan95 Clown shut the fuck up. Killing in a war, in an active zone is not the same as executing a defenseless person who is begging for mercy in front of the whole population. This is what no media literacy does to stupid people.
@@kenysulivan95 Also since you are blind and ignorant, the "people" B killed were drones not sentient beings. So shut the fuck you
15:39 "First thirty minutes was kids stuff." Ya can't say that while wearing a Sailor Moon shirt man 🤣
Clowns
2:44🤣😂🤣😂that’s funny as hell.
Damn media literacy really is a dying skill huh. Yall sounded REAL goofy trying to shit talk Optimus at the end there lmao.
"We're brothers once" "once!" Hits different now
Comments section telling me all I need to know😂😂😂 They be watching with they eye closed fr
It should be obvious how braindead these clowns are, why would you expect anything good from them? Their comment section is way more entertaining
28:48 killing a enemy fighting you is different from killing a surrendering foe it’s not stupid at all Prime knew how bad it could lead to
bumble bee didnt kill other transformers. he only killed those grunt bots which they don't have any sentience
Aren’t Sentinel’s troops just drones and aren’t as alive as the rest of the Cybertronians?
I don’t think you understand that you don’t have to kill unless necessary. Orion wasn’t trying to save Sentinel, he was trying to save Megatron from being a murderer.
The entire racing sequence is my absolute favorite part of this movie. It's like a Cybertronian version of Nascar!🏎🏍🏁
Fun fact: Transformers veteran and VA Steve Blum made cameo as the Iacon 5,000 Race Announcer.
These guys don’t understand Transformers
I mean...they were exposed to the bayverse films first which don't represent the franchise properly so...what did you expect
@@Kaiju-bm4ts I swear the Bayverse made people dumber.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Exactly bayverse isn't even cannon to the old G1 cannon and before the newer and stuff that came out after to add to your point.

Think the dinobots will introduced in this cannon later .
30:55 we see arcee and ironhide
The reactions of this movie really show what kind of ppl some of yall are fr. Ive seen sl very few people actually understand Optimus in any capacity and its just sad.
28:02 it makes perfect sense, the comments explain it to you guys so I’m not going to echo what they say.
I even said that because if you do that it'll be seen as more senseless violence. Sentinel should have stood trial and imprisoned forever and his cog removed pernamently, that would be what I would have done but that's fir the people to agree.
It’s sad state we are in that people think that killing the defenseless and for self defense is the same thing.
Bumblebee killed a whole buncha droids not even transformers. Also why is it megatrons gets to decide what happens to sentinel?
Bumblebee wasn't killing Transformers. He was killing the aliens that the dude sided with.
Every reactor I've watched seems to need to visit a fucking ethics class a few times... or learn what "media literacy" means.
yall miss the point big time
Its scary how this movie has revealed the many many ppl siding with D-16 executing Sentinel.
