I like to camp all year round as you do but struggle sometimes to get the enthusiasm in this wet and windy weather. Once i'm out there though I do enjoy it all ,even the challenging conditions .Watching your videos encourages me to get a grip and get out and I never regret the decision . Great Hilleberg weather! This is when you can enjoy a camp with confidence in your tent, totally worth the extra outlay, for that feeling. Also worth the extra for a fine ale!
Being doing this for 40 years and now doing it in my retirement here in the Philippines, never gets old this route, keep it going my friend, nothing compares ✌🏾🇵🇭
The movement of the clouds overhead was mesmerizing. Personally, the sound of wind and rain, or wind and snow/ice, speaks to something deep in my soul. I loved this.
I walked out of the room. When I came back I heard “that’s what it’s all about. “ I saw the view and said “yup” , that’s when you got a thumbs up 👍 great spot , wind and ice. Cool

Happy birthday buddy. If I had a pair of earplugs and drank 7.5% beer I'd sleep through AC/DC playing outside my tent 🙂. Big respect for the Soulo. They've added a Black Label version to the range so Kerlon 1800 fabric instead of 1200 and 10mm poles instead of 9mm. That must be the strongest 1-person tent Ever! Jeez.. 400gm weight penalty but what a reliable shelter that must be!
If I have to go camping I prefer the wind and rain condition battering the tent as in this video and inside I am cooking a nice hot meal.Of course, hope the tent is the best one for this condition. Great video by the way.Love it.
Wow! Just rewatching this video now. Hard to believe, in literally a few weeks since this video was posted, that the world has flipped over in such a topsy turvy fashion. When this madness is over, I reckon the wildernesses of the UK will be given some hammer BIG STYLE!! And, I hope, that the likes of us wildcampers who enjoy our pleasures in our own unique way, will relish our new found freedom in a way never quite realised before.
It's madness isn't it mate - it's starting to get to me now, very frustrating and difficult. I live alone so it's especially hard. Back garden camping this weekend!

The one thing you can do tomorrow, I think, is, take your time preparing for your wild camp.Treat yourself to some proper grub (in the way that ENGLISH WOODSMAN does) Maybe even prepare it on a wood burning stove to savour the experience. Then, and you do not need me to tell you this, finish off your evening with a few of your favourite nightcaps. Enjoy tomorrow!

Camping in this kind of weather is my favourite thing to do! I camped in the tropical storm that hit the Isle of Wight last year and it was amazing. Tents blowing across the site and tents ripping. We had to triple peg down the tent.
25 years ago, we parked in the exact same place and me and my two sons climbed up there, all be it in mid summer, while Mrs Metalman sat in the car. Great place to pitch and those views were sensational. With you on being sick of the wind and rail, although it has been real nice this week, unfortunately, it is due ti change back to wind and heavy rain, just when we have an overnighter booked on Sunday 😡. 38!.....Bloody hell, I am 65 next Thursday and I always thought you were older than me! Happy Birthday buddy 🎂. Superb watching the sun rise mind and good to see it was not raining on your walk down. Great watch, Like and full watch, cheers Alan

@@MCMOutdoors No, i totally understood what you alluded to. Getting out and about in the wild, with no spy cameras, no floor stickers telling you where to stand. Where the only sheep around you is the actual ones not the human versions 😂 Being out, away from all the C19 nonsense and embracing yourself in nature is the new wave. Which i had done more of this in my 20s and 30s tbh. Hopefully it doesn't catch on too much (if you know what i mean). I've given you an Instagram follow too! Keep up the great footage Chris. Fantastic!! A really enjoyable almost 30 minutes for myself and my kids, and no bad language. Such a well put together clip and great presenting and filming. Thanks so much for sharing. I think I would get lost, good tip tying the tent to the rucksack, I would be chasing mine all over the lake district.

Standard on this one - I've since invested in some delta pegs and would always use them in future conditions like that

@@MCMOutdoors only once back in Yorkshire. It was bloody amazing full moon an cold mate. Snow top was, something I will never forget mate. The stuff dreams are made of. Nice one.
