Quarter Million Mile 6.0 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel Excursion Engine Out Service Begins!

- Time for some more "Truck Stuff" here at Lucore Automotive, and this time we're back on the venerable 6.0 Powerstroke Ford that's done a quarter of a million miles in the front of our customers 2004 Ford Excursion. As you saw, and more importantly HEARD in a recent video it's no longer starting and running, so it's time to tear this thing down to see what's what and what needs fixed.
Step 1 is getting this big International 6.0 Diesel out of the front of the truck, and there are a number of ways you can do it. Take it out through the nose, decab the entire vehicle, or in our case, use a trick engine lift plate and pull it up through the hood hole. This is the beginning of a full build and engine rebuild project so if you are interested, stay tuned!

Great job I used to work for a transit bus company we have e450 Ford cutaway vans with the 6liters in them we have a guy that did o rings injectors and such on them with the body on guys a wizard such as you are sir

It certainly IS a big job but one we are very familiar and comfortable with. Can't tell you how many 6.0 powered vehicles we have brought back to life over the years. We know the process pretty well around here ;)

@@LucoreAuto - lol, no Rich, I only saw you laying on the gray mat and my stomach hurt just thinking about all of the fun I had working on my ‘84 GMC C30 tow truck with a push bumper. I was tempted to buy one but I’m pretty cheap 🤣 At least he replaced it!

snap on will sharpen them for a nominal fee, it is worth it.
I have an 07 6.0 I saved from the scrap yard, EGR deleted, new heads and short block. 8 years amd about 30K later 4 trips to the shop it runs well. Last shop redid the tune and it is sluggish from a dead start, I still have a check engi e on, so I am trying to keep up
Big Job Rich. Another rebuild. But you’re an amazing mechanic. So going to enjoy this as well. Never seen a rebuild on a diesel. Thank you for sharing.
