Taking care of a dementia resident can become very frustrated but you always got to learn how to have patience
Having patience is the hardest challenge.
Taking care of my grandmother who had a mental breakdown and now symptoms of dementia, I have faced so many difficulties that require massive amounts of patience.
Ok so secret is nerves of steel. My bed-bound grandma called me 4-5 times yesterday to ask why I moved her from her apartment (which i didnt, shes been there for the past 50 years but suddenly didnt recognize her home)

I've gotta give a lot credit to those who take care of dementia patients. I don't think I would ever have the patients to deal w/ someone who has full on dementia. My dad is in early stage dementia (or at least what I think it is) and his stubborness, ignorance, pride-fullness, and forgetfulness already drives me nutssssss
It’s very different when a family member is involved. I’ve been a Med tech and CNA for over ten years and if my mom had dementia it would drive me crazy.
And the first comment is just telling you your dad will be a shell of himself and there’s nothing anyone can do. If I get dementia take me the fuck out with 3mg of morphine. 2mg Ativan and 1mg of haldo on the hour tell I’m out .#facts
I wish it is as easy done as it is said. You can only let soo much go.
It’s sad that it seems like I have to avoid him in order avoid a fight or argument
I love that the employees are actually nice to the elderly. Unlike many other in the nursing homes. Thank god for that.

This is a very mild depiction of a true dementia patient. Most aren’t capable of speaking this clearly unless they are in the beginning stages and don’t have any other issues like bipolar

nothing is easy about dementia, the most we can do is make clients feel comfortable and safe form their own mind and that’s the bare minimum standard. everyone should be as caring as this lady

I'm being insensitive but I understood the pre-appointment scene less than the post-; I'm guessing she (caretaker) would get to that point over a long time

I'm a CNA. If I ever get dementia, I would use this lucidity to end my life. I do NOT want to burden my beautiful children with having to care for me for nearly a decade and for me to live in Hell for that time. I've given my children their lives. The last thing I want to do is take theirs away from them just because I wanted to stay alive a little longer.
There is certainly an argument for euthanasia but you damn well better be atheist, because for those that believe in God know you cannot kill yourselves. This is not to begin a god discussion. It’s just a euthanasia discussion
Simple. Make arrangements that you have a retirement fund to cover your financial expenses that you are not a financial burden on your children. 2) then all they need to do is be your kids and supervisors for your caretakers. 3) you live a comfortable happy life as long as the Lord has you on this earth for your children and grandkids to enjoy you. That's it.

I'm surprised that someone would make a joke with something that is so heartbreaking for the caregivers and debilitating for the patient. My mother-in-law is struggling so, and these videos are incredibly helpful to me and my husband as her primary caregivers.❤️
