    Tommy, you are truly a google maps and real estate locator extraordinaire. Thank you for the shout out!! 😊 So kind! I hope between our channels people can realize the French (or Italy!) dream is closer than they might have thought.

      I hope so too! Sharing your “day in the life” experience is great for showing Americans that life in France is just life, but in a lower cost, beautiful country.

    Hi Tommy. I'm glad you've referenced Baguette Bound. I've recently discovered Raina and Jason's channel, and like yours, it's super helpful for those of us who are serious about relocating to France.

    For the cost of the properties plus the reno costs, you'd still be ahead financially. I don't know about the US but here in Canuckistan, renos can be prohibitively expensive. You get so much more bang for the buck in France.
    Going to check out, BaguetteBound! Thanks, Tommy

      Agreed! I think you could have a nice renovation on both these properties for $200k or so. So around $250k all-in.
      No way you could do it that cheap in the US.

    The town is charming and would be a great place to settle in. My favorite area you have showcased is the Dordogne area. I have found south west France my favorite area. Thanks for the videos they are very helpful.

      I fell in love with Dordogne when I got to visit in high school. Absolutely magical.
      But doing all this research (and meeting folks who live there) is really opening me up to so many other incredible areas of France.
      Thanks for watching Thomas!

    You don't show enough of the internal houses - it would be like buying 'site unseen". A person is NOT buying the surrounding area as a priority- that comes with investigation.

      I would not recommend buying a house until you have spent at least a couple of weeks living as a local.
      A nice property in a poor location will not work long term.
      But a decent house in a great location can become a dream home.
      Location > property

    Tommy where do we pay less taxes Italy 🇮🇹 or France 🇫🇷 as Americans?

    • @traveltirement
      @traveltirement  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends.
      If you retire to Italy in a 7% flat tax area, probably Italy.
      But France doesn’t tax US Social Security or retirement accounts. They’re only taxable in the US.
      So that could be a tax break in France if you live off Roth IRA distributions or just Social Security.
      Sorry I can’t be more specific!

    Could you give approximately ? Say min.25000 to max 55000 pounds?

    • @traveltirement
      @traveltirement  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the renovation of both properties I’d say $50k minimum. Max depends on the style and finishes you’d want.
      Shoot me an email to tommy@traveltirement.com and I can connect you to my connection in France.
      They’ll be able to give you a better idea.
