In September 2022, Akane had an entry in the band's email newsletter that was a tribute to Kanami for her birthday, and it says a lot about Kanami and even more about Akane. This is the English translation (so there's some subtlety missing, as in the phrase 'welcome home' which is specifically used for family)... September 28th is Kanami's birthday! Happy birthday Kanami! I can write a lot of sentences for the newsletter, and I'm going to write a long story about Kanami, which I can say because it's the newsletter! I met Kanami when I was a student and we became good friends right from the moment we first met. We worked together as drummer in a support band for Kanami, who was a singer-songwriter at the time, and from that time on I loved the songs she wrote. Her enthusiasm for music and the amount of practice she put in were so great that I was surprised that there were other kids of my generation like her, and at the same time, I was very impatient because I didn't practice enough. I was so happy that when I went to Kanami's house to visit her, Kanami's mother would welcome me and say, "Welcome home. So I always had to say "I'm home. Of course, when Kanami comes to my house, I welcome her back. I am really grateful to Kanami for inviting me to join BAND-MAID, and it is no exaggeration to say that she has made my personality what it is today. I admired Kanami, who is kind to everyone, amiable, cheerful, earnest, hardworking, and loved by everyone. I wanted to be that kind of person too. Whenever I interacted with people, I always pictured Kanami in my mind. I still do that often. LOL. I am so glad to have met Kanami. We became more than just best friends, we became a community of destiny, the five of us. I'm so happy to be able to play music with the best members! Once again, Happy Birthday Kanami! I wish you all the best in the future.
Kanami is cuter than a baby bunny, but she's also a face melting guitarist and genius composer at the same time. All of these ladies are a gift to the world and they've certainly made my life a happier one just by existing. No band has ever moved me like they do. Not even close. 🥰
I call Kanami Tono, with, I believe, good reason, the "Wonderful Little Genius". There are not many musicians in this world who are amazingly creative composers, incredible technical guitarists, and "face melting shredders"!
'anemone', performed by Saiki and Kanami together, brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. And the full version of 'anemone' from the album "WORLD DOMINATION" is surprising in its composition, and Kanami's guitar sounds make my heart tremble, and in the end, I also cry. Kanami likes Debussy and Ravel, and also Rachmaninov. On the day Chick Corea passed away, she tweeted that she would quietly listen to HIS albums. I think Kanami's brain is a genius brain. It cannot be grasped by common sense, and she doesn't care. And Kanami is a fairy. No matter how many times I go to Band-Maid live shows, I never know what she'll do, so I can't take my eyes off her, especially during Miku's MC. She stretches, dances like a Bon Odori dancer, and uses her hands like binoculars to observe the audience.
Kanami is Coji-Coji. This anime is available here on TH-cam, but only the first episode has English subtitles. I watched it, and I can confirm: Kanami IS Coji-Coji. A mysterious being who is all-powerful, who can fly, but who never studied anything in her life... probably because she does not perceive anything as "studying," as anything hard? She is not studying, she is just sucking in any useful information which comes her way, because it's fun. That's why Kanami loves collaborating with other musicians so much. That's why her music is never boring, and that's why it never stays the same. A Natural Airhead, Tennen...
I love that we get to hear a little of Kanami's singing in this version too. Her voice is really pretty, it would be great if one day we could get her doing a lead vocal, when she's comfortable to do so.
@@sai1981 Well, she obviously hates singing, and I understand her. She's got a rather small voice, and being a perfectionist she is, it's clear her voice does not pass her own quality control for a BAND-MAID performance. She is doing it sometimes, but mostly with Saiki, providing some nice harmony. If there is Miku around, Kanami happily passes it to her.
Yeah, if anybody with a better ear and more knowledge of music theory than I have could explain how that extended intro ties into the main song, it would be terriific! My wild-ass guess is that the intro is in a different mode of the song's key signature?
@@stevehall5128 Can't answer your question, but hope someone else can cuz I'd like to know too. It sounds like she starts in the same interval range as the main opening riff, but then creates a beautify little fantasia around it. Ultimately, to me it's musical black magic how she is able to create these amazing intros and layers. Watching NittPicc's face light up when it transitions into Daydreaming was priceless.
@@VladimirChupin Yeah exactly - I think my wording was sort of ambiguous - but it's not in a "standard" or expected way. Because of course Kanami doesn't do "standard" 😊
As far as the Yokohama Arena intro goes, it sounds like Kanami was basically ad libbing, with phrases from the melody and chorus riffs included. "Daydreaming" is in the key of G major. What's different about the song is that it starts with the chorus, or more precisely what Japanese musicians refer to as the "sabi" (サビ). As I recall, in an interview Miku said Saiki wanted to sing a song that starts with the sabi, so Kanami obliged. In Japanese music lingo it's termed the "atama sabi" (頭サビ, "head chorus"). The song begins with the chorus, but it's a simpler, quieter version of the main chorus that follows the main melody.
Nobody composes complete songs and writes riffs, solos, and rhythms like Mincho. And out of all those notes, she has to write Miku's and backing track guitar parts that fit seamlessly into the song. Plus she writes or gives ideas to the other members, too! So much love and respect for one of my favorite composers, guitarists, and individuals. Thx, Ms Picc!
Best comment here and 💯 % true! It shines through Yoyoka Soma, drum prodigy, especially when she was in single digit tears. BandMaid and Yoyoka got me through the darkest period of my life. Was it the music? Certainly! But it was more than that. It was the light that emirates from these musical geniuses!
Why Band Maid is so good Kanami doesn't write songs to be easy to play, she challenges each member so the songs they play will sound good That's why Band Maid is all bangers and no fillers
From my point of view as a Japanese, his documentary video is very elaborate and deserves more recognition. Daydreaming, which starts with Kanami's intro solo in the live version, is also good!
kanami is one of the songwriter giving a soulfull music...ideas which each fans touching by her composition but her bandmates helping her to grow and trusting her to do so ....kanami is a genius and a few of us known the fact that she is....she doesn't limit herself creating her craft....I'm a big fan to kanami and she is my six string samurai...
I'm not a music type artist, I like to create worlds, characters and draw them, but I understand Kanami by this need to create. I just need to stay alone in my head for a while, to automatically think about the world and characters that I have created and the means to make them evolve, to read or see something and the desire to inspire myself for something of my own. It's not easy all the time, because we can be taken for strange people, but when we find people on the same wavelength, we are the happiest people on earth to be able to exchange ideas and share together. But about this documentary, there is not much to say since a lot has already been said in it, I find it amusing that Miku says that Kanami is the "princess playing with little birds" type, when Miku is a pigeon lol. When you think of Sayonakidori and Mincho saying to Miku to go for it for the high note, maybe they were right hehe.
I have the Highest level of respect for Kanami. The most adorable little badass shredder and a compositional Genius! Just a lovable, sweet person, through and through 🥰 Thank you for the excellent reaction, NittPicc!
I know this is about Kanami, a true musical genius. BUT, when Saiki sings in the that lower register ... it sounds like melting butter. So good. And I love how Kanami fan girls Saiki, so cute.
For an insight into Kanami's musical mind look for a song called "honey". it's a song written by a band called MUCC in which Kanami made a rearrangement for a tribute album to the band. listen to the original version, then listen to Kanami's version. truly amazing!
Yes, I second this suggestion. It would be interesting to analyze what Kanami did with the original. In my opinion, that's what she was doing with all the songs presented to them by the external writers: she was giving them a touch which made them sound like a truly BAND-MAID song. I don't hear any differences in style between their old and new material. It's not like Babymetal, where I remember, as I watched one of their live shows, I clearly heard that those were songs from different composers. I am not a fan of Babymetal, I don't know much about them, but then someone commented that some songs are from Yuyoyuppe (those I immediately recognize, Yuyouuppe was my gateway to Japanese music in 2010), and others are from some other composer, whose name I don't remember. That's why I can't really listen to Babymetal, each time I'm like, "Oh, it sounds like Yuyoyuppe, so sweet, let me go back and check that song from him which I love so much..." - and I never return to Babymetal after this, listening to Yuyoyuppe for hours. But such a thing never happens with BAND-MAID, all their songs sound like BAND-MAID songs.
@@VladimirChupin Agree. On top of that, does anyone really write for MISA? No other bass player will contribute to a song the way she does. And does Miku influence the lyrics of the older songs? "All around mе, things I don't even want to see Locked in a box A pigeon traces an arc in the shrunken sky Who are you? I look up and see."
@@TwinTailSteve Those words in THRILL are officially Miku's, as far as I know. The credits for lyrics say, 阿久津健太郎 [Akutsu, Kentaro]***. And then the note by nair0n says: ***Miku's contribution to the lyric was not credited on physical releases and JASRAC database but credited on online lyric sites and Amazon store page.
Ever since I clicked on that little thumbnail on TH-cam in 2018, I fell in love with this band. I adore each and every member of them. But, from around fifth or sixth song, and finding out that Kanami wrote all their songs, I knew that she was a genius and commented so on the videos. And even as I learned more about each member, I loved Kanami the most and still do. She is a special one.
It is so SO hard to have developed that level of work ethic and meticulousness, and still be that sweet and generous to her peers. That is what I love and respect the most about Kanami. From knowing many successful, hyper disciplined people and from my own experience trying to develop that mindset, I can only imagine how much she must have gone through to be the person she is today. It takes a lot of heart to be strict with yourself and still remain non-critical and super supportive of others. As much as she is blessed to have had Band Maid in making her who she is today, Band Maid is undoubtedly way more privileged to have had Kanami with them this whole time. Honestly I'm genuinely envious of them.
I always enjoy Ohrenje's work and watching it with NittPicc makes it even better. Kanami is a musical genius. When I got introduced to Band-Maid, the one thought that kept entering my mind whenever I heard a new BM tune was "What awesomeness is this?" and it usually hits me when I'm driving, my TH-cam mix pulling in a new song. A couple of times I had to pull over for a look. Finding out later that Kanami was the main composer of these masterpieces was surprising, someone so young and astute, and very talented. Nevertheless, I became an immediate fan. It's difficult for me to rank BM's songs because they are all so good but if I had to choose, it would be YOLO. Not only is there a great message being delivered in the lyrics but the composition and performance (official MV release) of this song is phenomenal and this is a Kanami original.
Miku is the extrovert energy that the band really needs along with the musical genius of Kanami and the other brilliant technical musicians in Misa and Akane.
Miku is their shield. Behind this mighty shield, other members can just be themselves. Look at Kanami, such a delicate and sensitive being! Like a beautiful and the most vulnerable flower, which can flourish because she is protected from the harsh winds of the outside world. Miku is the outer line of defence, and Saiki is her support in the inner circle, a pillar of strength which never fails.
That first song that you liked when you were listening to this is Puzzle and yes you definitely need to hear the official live version! It's also an awesome song although totally different as an acoustic.
I still think that the best live version of Puzzle is from Shinkiba Studio Coast, the one shown in this documentary. The spirit of the song is better captured. Akane is not smiling, it looks like she's about to cry, listening to that heart-rending story of the girl who loved the wrong guy.
Apparently Mincho had a very hard time during the pandemic when she couldn’t be with the girls. So they started having a daily live video chat for hours every day just doing normal daily stuff like cooking and talking together.
NittPicc, your comment "That's not a band, that's a family" is so true and so heartwarming and, somehow, these 5 ladies make us, their fans, feel like extended family. That is why I treasure them. ❤🤘✌
Arigatou, HaroMatsu-san 🙇♂ I was sure somebody would respond to NittPicc's request and make the full list of songs in this documentary. Good job listing all of them!
To our fellow Maidiac……great reaction! Kanami deserves to be mentioned among the greatest guitarists….. of ALL time! I LOVE KANAMI … I LOVE BAND MAID ❤️ ❤️
I remember very early in my Band-Maid journey wondering if Kanami "sees" music, like in the form of colors or patterns. I mean, literally SEES it. I think your comments, NittPicc, and Ohrenje's amazing documentary solidified that thought. Thanks sooo much. I ALWAYS learn from you, Teach! 🍎🕊
That intro to "Daydreaming" at the end came from the Yokohama Arena concert in 2023, along with "Anemone", the intimate acoustic duet she did with Saiki earlier in this video. The whole concert was fantastic.
Wow, just another amazing reaction from NittPicc! There are 3 songs you need to react to out of this documentary. First, Alone. The very first song they wrote on their own with no outside contribution. It was so damn good, like hitting a 3 run homer in your first at-bat in the Major Leagues! The 2nd is Memorable - the song that Mincho was singing to Saiki on the bus during their 2022 US tour. They wrote this to express how they felt by all the love being shown to them by their fans during that tour. The last song you need to check out from this Documentary is Anemone. That is the beautiful acoustic masterpiece being performed by just Saiki and Kanami at Yokohama. Acoustic or original, both are just unbelievably gorgeous. And that intro to Daydreaming at the end of the video is such an emotional powerhouse. My eyes get wet every time from the very first strains. Recently I heard that Kanami might have written that intro for her Grandmother in Heaven, who passed recently and didn't get to see them at Yokohama. No chance of keeping the eyes dry knowing that. Kanami is just so special. I don't have the words to properly convey how I feel about her. Kanami Tono, Mincho, is the kindest, sweetest, most humble and caring hard rockin' badass ever! No ego, just love and musical excellence. Thank you NittPicc and thank Kanami! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I have to comment on this video since I have seen the original video several times and it impressed me so. Having been a Band Maid fan for almost five years now, Mincho has always been my favorite and I felt I knew her very well. But this redo of the Kanami video just blows me away at how it brings out even more the enigma that is Kanami Tono. She is a child and a genius. She is a comedian and a teacher. And a true superstar. Thank you to every one involved and thank you x 1000 to the incredible Mincho.
Yes, Mincho is a child. If Miku is really a fifty year old man, then Kanami is an eight year old prodigy. She makes binoculars with her fingers, she twirls her fingers in the air, she rocks back and forth -- all like a child. And she gushes enthusiastically like a child, and unlike the cool adult Saiki. Saiki always seems way older than Kanami, even though Kanami is in fact the older of the two. Being a youngest child in her family may have contributed to this: she never had to grow up, unlike the oldest child.
Dear NittPicc, your emotion at the end of the video, I have also felt it often since I fell into the rabbit hole of Band-Maid. So much generosity of respect and friendship which binds these 5 young women can only move you. Furthermore, in the radio show they did, Saiki and Miku said that they were like a real family. I advise you to acquire all the Blu-rays of their concerts because you will experience unforgettable moments. In that of Shibuya Mincho reveals her talent as a pianist inspired by Chopin like this splendid melody preceding Catharsis. Even the entrance music is also worth listening to because it also teaches you about her fertile mind. Mincho is a pure diamond. Anémone is the acoustic extract that you hear and which was played at the Yokohama Arena in November 2023. A great moment of emotion. THANKS.
Kanami posted on X or Instagram for Saiki's birthday something like, how lucky she was that she was able to write songs for her friend to sing. I wish I could find the quote, it's such a beautiful sentiment and just another reason in a long list that makes her such an awesome person.
With so many bands it's usually a clash of ego's that tears them apart, usually male ones. That will never happen to this band. Their mutual respect and love for each other should keep them together for a long time. They're gradually outgrowing the maid's outfits, their new ones are referred to as "Armor", but I feel as they're just starting to hit the peak of their success. Looking forward to the next 5+ years!
Welcome Home Princess NittPicc! I hope you are having a wonderful day. I saw your second interview with MNN, and I think they couldn't have picked a better guest. You are awesome! I always look forward to your Band Maid Sundays. Please take very good care of yourself and have an amazing week.
Thanks great reaction to Orhenje's fantastic video about Kanami.. I don't know what it is about this small women from the other side of the world. but her music just speaks to me. Any kind of video going through Kanami's journey just seems to turn on a switch on my tear ducts. Tears of love, pride on all her achievements. Love her guitar playing, composition, interactions with her band mates, her personality, kookiness well just everything about her. And of course combined with her equally amazing Band-Mates produces amazing music that can rock you, shake you staisfy your musical cravings
This is going to sound odd, and may not sound like it *until I complete the thought* (I hope, anyway) - but is a compliment and meant in a good way. And it dovetails into your discussion as to how composers think differently. Kanami always strikes me as "odd" and "flighty" and "not all there" - IN THAT - her brain is functioning on a plane different than most of us. During the intermissions on stage, she often just seems to wander aimlessly as if she has no idea what she is supposed to be doing. (Literally seen her off to the side just twirling in place hehe) The documentary mentioned her not worried about the outfits. I always considered that Kanami probably doesn't even "know" what she is wearing, she could be in a potato sack for all the difference it would make. Because her mind is pure music. All-consuming. Always thinking, processing, reformulating ideas. Pull her from an instrument and she loses her direction. Like energy with no outlet and no way to express itself. But put that instrument back into her hands (whichever one(s) it may be!) and suddenly she is back in her element and can now channel that energy in about 1000 different, astonishing ways. True artists like her often seem like that to me.
I have said this on more than one occasion, "Kanami is a prodigy". I would love to spend a day in her head to see how it works. I imagine one moment it would be all unicorns and pixies, and then suddenly a chaos of thunderstorms and new guitar face melting riffs.
Besides being a genius and guitar goddess she also has a great sense of style. Her civilian clothes are always well put together with classic styling. I was hoping the documentary would talk about her maid outfit, I was curious if she was pressured to wear a sexier maid outfit when they started. Now that she is successful the sexiness has been toned down and her skirt lengthened. While I liked her early outfits, I'm happy she is playing in something she finds more comfortable.
I shared some tears of joy with you NittPicc. Kanami is one of my favorite humans, for all of the reasons of personality and talent. Thanks for making my Sunday morning.
I always believe that Band Maid is in pursuit of World Domination, but are now at a crossroad of the pursuit of their personal lives of having their own families (which I hope they do). I think Kanami is alluding to that, where she is content with her band mate family, and treating hers songs as her children because she definitely nurtures every song she composes like a mom would. Selfishly, I hope they have a 25th anniversary tour, but, as Misa would say they would be together until they are "Baachans" (Grandmas), which gives me the impression that they would have grandkids, hence, a family, Po! Long live Band Maid, Po! 🦍🍌 Btw, can you imagine many minchettes running around the studio, even a squab of Pigeons, even an infant of gorillas, or barefoot ninjettes, even Ice Prince/ss. Did I get them all, Po! Thanks for sharing, Po!
I waited to see the new Kanami doc with you, it was great to share it with you. Through out all the songs and live performances by Band Maid that intro to Daydreaming from Yokohama stands out for me as the most beautiful moment from Kanami ever.
They form a perfect pentagon, with Miku and Saiki solidifying and expanding the outer perimeter, while Kanami is in charge of constructing the inner core, which involves production, etc. She is supported by Misa and Akane, but it is Saiki who makes the final decision on which songs to include in order to ensure objectivity, which is a very clever system.
NittPicc, thank for your reaction to Kanami! Ohrenji and all those involved created a gem just like the person their video was about. NittPicc your reactions, and comments are wonderful - thank you.
I already saw it, so I was just going to watch your reaction for a few minutes before going out. But you did such a good job I watched the whole thing. Can’t get enough of Kanami!
*NittPicc* Very happy you ordered *BAND-MAID Prime* so you can experience the special connection between *Saiki* and *Kanami* and it will melt your heart 🤗🥰 _Puzzle and Anemone (acoustic) at Zepp_ and the sweet vocals of *Kanami*
Best rock band on the planet. My favorite band at this moment in time. Only three bands have excited me like this and Band Maid is one of those that came along long after I thought my infatuation days were over. If they keep going another ten years I'll be heading into my middle eighties and I'll still be rocking with them if I'm alive.
i'm happy to have re-watched this documentary with you, it touched me a lot and i don't know why. Kanami is a so much telented girl, for me she deserved the title of one of the best.
I'm not a musician and definitely have no understanding of songwriting, but I'm said to be a creative and I recognize some of Kanami's traits in myself. And the ones that remain I admire, which is probably why after 4 minutes of 'Thrill' when I first saw the MV, she completely had me under her spell. :) ... Every single one of these ladies is special and has characteristics that I admire them for, but Kanami is the one that stands out for me a bit. A very special young lady of which there are not many out there. ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Warning' ♬🕊
This was so touching...so gorgeous...so funny...so adorable...so perfect! The shared admiration is glorious! This is a heavenly sisterhood. Love Kanami-chan❤ Loved the reaction NittPicc🎶 That 47 minutes flew by po!
Thanks, NittPicc, always love your commentary and forthrightness. I especially felt what you said about compositional deficiencies. Tried that myself and realized quickly I'm not made out of that cloth. The fact that Kanami received the fundamentals of a classical education at an early age, no doubt contributed to her talents later in life, regardless of how much theory she actually applies to rock songwriting.
Beautiful reaction, nothing more to say. Mincho breaks me every time I watch her. A true genius, as are you. Keep it up I am loving your band maid journey 😊
In the MNN interview you mentioned that you have Band-Maid Prime but haven't dived in yet to avoid spoiling the music reactions, but there are some things you should check out that have no BM music. Under the PICKUP videos category on pages 2 and 3 there are 5 interviews where the members interview each other. Akane x Kobato, Kanami x Saiki, Akane x Saiki, Kanami x Misa and Kobato x Saiki. Most are fairly short, around 10-15 minutes, but these are more glimpses into the musical process and the personalities.
Hey NittPiccincho, it was great to watch that all over again with you! I suppose it's only natural that Kanami admires Saiki so much, when she comes up with the body of the song before Saiki gives it the 'soul'.
NittPicc, just FYI, the hug between Saiki and Kanami at the 34:00 mark of your video was from their first visit to Dallas in 2019. Hopefully they will visit your neighborhood again soon!
Thank you for doing another Band Maid documentary. It was very interesting to hear your take on it. Also, apropos of nothing musical, your metallic green (blue-green?) nail color is really sweet.
One of the songs in this video is Puzzle. There is a newish Official Live Version and an acoustic version which you can probably find on a fan site. You should react to the two of them together. it's an emotional song about doomed love (for a married man) and Saiki and Kanami really shine.
Thank you again @NittPicc, wonderful listening to your thoughts. This was a great to lift my spirits as my wife and I have been dealing with covid this past week. This made it a bit easier ♥ 🕊🕊🕊
The story of "Black Hole" and the "Hell" drumbeat as told by Akane: According to Akane, Kanami asked her how fast she could drum. Akane said around 190 bpm. Then Kanami went off and wrote "Black Hole" that peaks at 220 bpm! So Akane goes and writes the drum patterns for the track. She wrote 7, for the band to choose which one. She labelled them: 1. Easy 2. Comfortable 3. Normal 4. Possible if I work hard 5. Tough 6. Painful 7. Hell Akane said "Of course, the band chose Hell"!
There is always that tension between what resonates with the fan base, and therefore sells, vs musicianship and creativity. One of my other favourite bands is highly successful but in my opinion don’t follow their band’s collective heart enough. I am glad to see Band Maid constantly pushing the bleeding edge, even when they release something that doesn’t resonate with me. I’ll be honest and admit, in that case, it usually grows on me later... Kinda like Wagner… “What the heck is that?!”toward… “Kewl!!!”
I posted a comment on the documentary with all the timestamps and links to videos for the music and interviews. I don't remember all the videos you've checked out, but from the documentary I recommend checking out Sayonakidori, Puzzle, YOLO (the piano version was the first song Kanami composed before BAND-MAID was formed), Moratorium, and Anemone (since you liked it a lot).
If and when you get to Alone, two things will happen. Not only is it the first song written and produced by Band Maid, but it is the last song in which Saiki is forced to use a mic stand, which she hates. As the video opens in the first three seconds, if you look closely, you will see Saiki violently throw the mic stand to the ground and it will never reappear.
Oh! I never noticed that! Thanks for the great attention to the minuscule details! Now I will have to rewatch all the BAND-MAID early MVs with this thought in mind, whether Saiki is using a mic stand or not...
I just rewatched MV and barely recognized at normal speed so I needed to down to 0.25 . You have awesome dynamic visual acuity !! I am happy to know this . Thanks !!
@NittPicc you need to react to some of the Omajini times to get an idea of their characters on stage. especially from the last US tour where they get up to some devilish tricks on Miku. You will see that Saiki is the boss on stage and Kanami and Miku off stage.
When the Maids go acoustic, it's at a whole other level. There's always a point in their okyu-ji's where they force grown men to connect with their emotions. Any combination of Anemone, About Us, Awkward, Smile, Daydreaming, and more recently Memorable are enough to crack the coldest heart. When me and my daughter went to see them in Minneapolis last year, we got Daydreaming and Memorable... thankfully they went into Freedom next. If they had played Awkward or Anemone next, it would have broken this 56-year-old. So even with that little bit of acoustic Anemone, which you had to play twice, made my Sunday coffee with NittPic a little salty that I had to add some more creamer. 😢That song is my kryptonite. 🤘
16:25 "Matador of love and passion" was BAND-MAID's first MV candidate song, but it was changed to "Thrill". It's a good song with a Latin music style, but if this song had been made into a music video, MAIDIACS might not have existed. In my opinion, this song is based on the band BON-BON BLANCO. A Japanese girl group that was active in the early 2000s and played J-POP, which is similar to Latin music. BAND-MAID hasn't made any Latin-style songs since then, but I'd like to listen to them someday. (using google translate)
Its interesting they start with the bass and then the drums and finish with the guitars, because most rock and metal bands do the drums last and start with the guitars.
That song that was their first solely written by them that label at the time let them record is " Alone ". It contains what is still one of my favorite Kanami solos.
Princess NittPicc, the acoustic song you heard was "Anemone", the live acoustic version. Another live acoustic song with only Saiki and Kanami is from "Puzzle". You may have reacted to "Puzzle", the official live (rock) version. The acoustic version of "Puzzle" is both beautiful and heart-breaking.
Thx rockyetsx.👍
Thanks for sharing this
Thank you 🙏🏻

"a community of destiny" I like that. Friends but more. We are lucky the universe let them find each other.
Kanami is cuter than a baby bunny, but she's also a face melting guitarist and genius composer at the same time. All of these ladies are a gift to the world and they've certainly made my life a happier one just by existing. No band has ever moved me like they do. Not even close. 🥰
Kanami is cuter than a baby bunny. Mincho will shred your face....😉
Meecha Oichi!
@@VladimirChupin I liken Kanami's singing voice to be similar to 90s alt-pop singers like Lisa Loeb or Julianna Hetfield.
Her live intro to Daydreaming brings tears to my eyes every time. The tone, the note selection, the phrasing; I could listen to her play all day.
Kanami is kawaii overload. Most adorable bad ass Ive ever seen.
That documentary was so well done !!!!!!! I totally love that intro to "Day Dreaming" with the spotlight on just Kanami !!!! Sends chill down me
Yeah, if anybody with a better ear and more knowledge of music theory than I have could explain how that extended intro ties into the main song, it would be terriific! My wild-ass guess is that the intro is in a different mode of the song's key signature?
@@stevehall5128 I feel it actually flows pretty smoothly into the main theme of Daydreaming...
"That's not a band man, that's a family", spot on 👍🍻
Both Saiki and Kanami are strong, but very shy. I think they bond so well because they are each others support animal.
The reason you "identify" with Kanami is plainly visible to all but you.....the same light that shines thru ALL our Maids....shines thru you....
Kanami, The delicate genius that beats within that sisterhood that is Band Maid. Kudos Ohrenje!!
Yep, that's a damn good idea.
@@VladimirChupin Agree. On top of that, does anyone really write for MISA? No other bass player will contribute to a song the way she does.
And does Miku influence the lyrics of the older songs?
"All around mе, things I don't even want to see
Locked in a box
A pigeon traces an arc in the shrunken sky
Who are you? I look up and see."
I have done that very thing. It is a damn good song. @NittPicc you will enjoy this comparison.
@@TwinTailSteve Those words in THRILL are officially Miku's, as far as I know. The credits for lyrics say, 阿久津健太郎 [Akutsu, Kentaro]***. And then the note by nair0n says:
***Miku's contribution to the lyric was not credited on physical releases and JASRAC database but credited on online lyric sites and Amazon store page.
Thank you for reviewing this. No band has affected me so much since I first heard the Beatles.
Easily the best songwriting and band of this century.
That acoustic with Saiki.... Kanami sings lovely harmonies in the next verses.
@@VladimirChupin I love all of the versions of this song. In the new live when I love the build up into Kanami solo, and then her letting it rip 🔥
Just a few short days till I see these talented ladies play live again - and The Warning for 1st time! 😊
See you there!! I am going, too. 🌝🌝
Apparently Mincho had a very hard time during the pandemic when she couldn’t be with the girls.
So they started having a daily live video chat for hours every day just doing normal daily stuff like cooking and talking together.

Good job listing all of them!
well done!!
@@VladimirChupin went looking in the comments for the same response.
My man Haru-san 🔥🔥🔥
I don't think she's done YOLO yet either. YOLO is actually an older composition than Alone. One of the first Kanami wrote.
I have seen this documentary already a couple of time, and I tried to convince myself not to cry at the end... but it still happen 😭😭😭
NittPicc i saw you on MNN talking about this documentary so i couldn't wait until you uploaded it. Thank you.🤗

Welcome Home Princess NittPicc! I hope you are having a wonderful day. I saw your second interview with MNN, and I think they couldn't have picked a better guest. You are awesome! I always look forward to your Band Maid Sundays. Please take very good care of yourself and have an amazing week.
If you haven't heard it yet, the tune Kanami was playing on piano was "YOLO".
I can totally see this.
I’ve noticed that Dave Matthews is like this too.
Their minds just work differently possibly…and if so…thank goodness. Lol.
Mincho, Mincho, Mincho! Our humble genius!
She is really special lady ❤❤❤
This is the second video you showed interest in Memorable.
I shared some tears of joy with you NittPicc. Kanami is one of my favorite humans, for all of the reasons of personality and talent. Thanks for making my Sunday morning.
Kanami carries the solo torch from Van Halen. I love her solos. And all the maid's work!! Best band of all time for me🕊️❄️🍌🥷🎸
SAIKI'S , Vocals are the most Beautiful Unique mixture of Japanese & English you will ever hear ! Much love to the MAID'S !
Outstanding! Thank you NittPicc! Thank you Ohrenje! Thank you Kanami!!!!!
I waited to see the new Kanami doc with you, it was great to share it with you. Through out all the songs and live performances by Band Maid that intro to Daydreaming from Yokohama stands out for me as the most beautiful moment from Kanami ever.
I think she was thinking of her grandma during that solo, it seemed to come from someplace in her heart.
私は歌波のビブラートの無い真っ直ぐなギター音が大好きです。まるで彼女の魂の様。

This is a great documentary. Everyone loves Kanami. ☺
I vote kanami tono musician and composer of the decade
I'm Daydreaming of a Kanami🥰- Saiki sideproject.
Thank you for a wonderful reaction NittPicc
Great reaction as usual. Konami is an absolute inspiration. I love her 🤘
i'm happy to have re-watched this documentary with you, it touched me a lot and i don't know why.

"nooooo i dont want it to be over!" is me every time i attend an okyuji
Hey NittPiccincho, it was great to watch that all over again with you! I suppose it's only natural that Kanami admires Saiki so much, when she comes up with the body of the song before Saiki gives it the 'soul'.
Nittpicc fangirling over Kanami!
I knew this was coming. I watched your interview on MNN and thought it went very well indeed. Thank you for sharing your Sunday with all of us!
P.S. your face during the documentary's outro was full of numinous wonder. You so often reflect what we all are feeling.
BTW... It's not mentioned much, Kanami has perfect pitch aswell 😂😂😂
Totally loving your neverending enthusiasm! It matches the greatness of Kanami's brillant work as a guitarist, composer and a friend :)
Kanami teaches music to the members. In return, the members teach the naive "Princess Kanami" how to drink alcohol and the manners of working adults.
This made it a bit easier ♥

She labelled them:
1. Easy
2. Comfortable

Akane said "Of course, the band chose Hell"!
Awesome reaction and I am so happy you found a kindred spirit in my favorite musician. Kanamincho!
So glad someone did a reaction to his documentaries.
Great job!!👏👏👏 and who doesn’t love Mincho!❤
Kanami Kanamincho Mincho!
Wow, I never notice that. So even this move was recorded as a new start - I will not sing like that. Apron - mic stand - what a personality!
I just rewatched MV and barely recognized at normal speed so I needed to down to 0.25 . You have awesome dynamic visual acuity !! I am happy to know this . Thanks !!
OMG you havent heard Alone yet ? Top 5 for sure IMO .
@NittPicc you need to react to some of the Omajini times to get an idea of their characters on stage. especially from the last US tour where they get up to some devilish tricks on Miku. You will see that Saiki is the boss on stage and Kanami and Miku off stage.
Just recently I rewatched that amazing Omajinai Time from Boston 2022: th-cam.com/video/SSYuaVAvlyE/w-d-xo.html
can't wait for you to do the rest of the documentary videos
16:25 "Matador of love and passion" was BAND-MAID's first MV candidate song, but it was changed to "Thrill". It's a good song with a Latin music style, but if this song had been made into a music video, MAIDIACS might not have existed.
In my opinion, this song is based on the band BON-BON BLANCO. A Japanese girl group that was active in the early 2000s and played J-POP, which is similar to Latin music.
BAND-MAID hasn't made any Latin-style songs since then, but I'd like to listen to them someday. (using google translate)
this song Is still one of my favorites
37:52 Best insight of the video. I agree, it makes sense.
The collaboration in this way, the group dynamics, is the magic ingredient of this band.
