  • Today we real-world test the new Xsoldering Pro Dual Handpiece soldering station from JDI tools.
    Apologies for the couple of audio aberrations in this video - the new version of Lumafusion that I use to edit this video has a few...issues...

    Thanks for the first-impressions review! Surprisingly cheap considering the JBC its mimicking. I'd like to see a teardown if you do one at some point.

    JBC is expensive, I'm not defending their high prices but in such cases you do get what you pay for. Not only you're paying for brand name but consider this, they stand behind their products. I have a JBC station from back in 2012 and it had a few heating issues. When I contacted them about it, they were very supportive and replace it for me even after all these years. With these Chinese made stations, yes you are saving a couple of hundreds but when you have problems with it good luck finding supports

      I mentioned in passing to my rep that I had a small scratch on the tip cleaner. Didn't ask to see it, didn't ask for "video of problem". Just handed me a box and a shipping slip. I think I got my new one before they even got a return. I don't know what doing business in Spain is like. But they seem to have something good going at JBC.

      I have done a tear down as I own one and it uses a switching dc power supply and powered by atmel chip, the quality is decent inside, but it’s not esd safe

    Nice review, thanks!

  • @M.E63
    @M.E63 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was one of the first to get this station and it is using a switching dc power supply , it is not esd safe though , I have tried to make it esd safe but when I did add the wires then sleep mode didn’t work, so next I used resistors and different resistors gave me issues like jumping in and out of sleep mode, I did in the end find a resistor that didn’t mess with the sleep mode , I used xsoldering tips and they don’t give the tip error and only the original jbc tips give me that issue, I haven’t tried any other brand tips I don’t know about them, but the xsoldering tips are bad quality , the temperature is way off , they also struggle with high thermal mass soldering compared to original tips , you’ll get a hug temperature drop on ground planes , also this station can’t be calibrated, but with original tips the temperature is accurate and you don’t need to calibrate it

    • @JackyLimictouch
      @JackyLimictouch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hello. sleep mode didn’t work this is the C245 tip problem. some tip quality is bad, the temperature sensor in high temperature can't work normally, repair the error information to the workstation。 Factory use original tip calibration.if use no good quality tip. The temperature will be different
      ,you can setting you need the temperature for station use.

    • @M.E63
      @M.E63 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JackyLimictouch sleep mode works fine for me and I use original jbc tips only , the big problem was it’s not esd safe so it requires modifying to make it esd safe but that affects the sleep mode function if you put a wire direct to earth so I use resistors instead and sleep mode still working perfectly

    what is the difference between 245 and 210 tips?

    • @the_equalizor
      @the_equalizor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 245 tips run off 24v and the 210 tips run off 12v. That and the size of course.

    • @M.E63
      @M.E63 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 245 tips are for soldering anything as it has a big tip selection , you can get lots of tips , small and big, 210 type are mainly for micro soldering and there’s only limited amount of tips that are available and mainly small tips are available , 245 type is around 130w and 210 is around 60w iron

    • @the_equalizor
      @the_equalizor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I’m still using it and it’s working well. Some people in the comments have had issues, but I haven’t had the issues they’ve had. Like I said in my video, in my opinion, if you’re running a full on repair business then JBC is clearly better quality and will certainly last longer, but for a cheap dual iron station, it’s pretty unbeatable. Im glad I bought it, both my Jabe and JBC stations have been put into storage for now. I’m doing a silly project soon that involves soldering 200 smd components onto a 100x100mm board so I reckon 400 solder joints will give it a good workout as I’ll be doing this project in one sitting. Would you like to hear how that goes?

    • @SURGE101
      @SURGE101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@the_equalizor yes I would definitely like to know how that goes please because I’m considering buying one of these and I’m really interested in how they perform because I’ve had a few mixed messages on this machine. Some people say don’t get them and others love them. I really appreciate it. Thanks rich👍❤️

    Question about the station, if you change the sting to a hot one, do you have a station working ??? because on mine I have to turn off and turn on the station, otherwise when replacing the sting she does not see the sting until the station is restarted

    "this is not for professionals" priced at same price as hakko its not the tool that makes you a professional but the skills, any tool can be use as professional i use KSger everyday an those 50 euros stations can make 2 or 3 or 4 times a day its price

    • @the_equalizor
      @the_equalizor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me clarify my statement. What I meant was that I don’t think that this tool should be used in a professional environment where your living depends on having reliable well-built tools. I think I actually said that on one of my clips but it probably got lost in editing. I see what you’re saying about any tool can be used as professional, clearly you’ve never tried using one of those leister-alike hot air rework knockoff tools. Absolute garbage. But I tell you what I’ve seen videos of guys repairing electronics in India and Pakistan and some of the stuff they do with tools that I’d turn my nose up is quite frankly amazing lol so I get your point totally

      @@informediatech-bruno5766 I agree with you, the JBC isn’t worth an extra 200 euros.
