I got one of these when it was first launched so got it for $8, I already had a TS100. I would recommend this over the TS100 as you can buy several with a different tip for less and get roughly the same performance. I've also found these work best at 15V too.

What do you mean by best?
at 24V it heats up like 5-6 times faster compared to 12V

I have seen versions of this with a clear case and an temp screen so i would say its just for that (regarding the LED mystery)
