    2 pin for c210 because thermocouple is in series with heater element. And 3 for c245, because it has separate heater and thermocouple.

    Thank you ! You always provide what we ask ! Nice teardown ! Looks like a good deal for the price

    Looks nicer than I expected! Would have liked to see some better filtering on the high side so less of the switching noise leaks onto the mains, as I tend to keep scopes and sensitive meters etc on the same circuit... but its not that big of a deal I guess. Thanks for the teardown.

      I definitely expected to be a lot more crappy for sure :) but yeah quite a pleasant surprise. The lcd screen mounting was a bit cheap and nasty tho. Made me laugh.

    wow thats definitely better than i expected, those things look kind of awful in the pics, i was going to go with the mechanic or i2c, eventually i grabbed the aixun assuming with its updatable FW, high power and JCs usual good support itd get a T210 handle in no time but it didnt so i grabbed the recent OSSTeam(GVM) t210 which was a cracking iron but mine went faulty, i picked it up one day and the tip went glowing red and then it just died, shame as it was a lovely bit of kit really. ive seen the new T16 which seems a bargain as while it comes with a T12 its compatible with a T210 (and id assume the C115) but im thinking i may just buy a real JBC instead at this point instead of buying clones over and over

    Thanks for the video. But I have a problem with this station: when the C245 temperature goes above of 230 deg the C245 cannot see the stand, so cannot powering off. And if the temperature goes lowest of approx 230 deg the C245 'stand' status working well. I cannot take my mind what is happened? Is there a EEPROM have a not valid data? Why it breaking near 230 degrees?

      That's right, I discarded it for it, it is a known problem, even the sellers describe it in red letters

    Very throughout and quality review, especially for such a niche Product!
    Have you found a suitable replacement for the fan yet? It's driving me nuts that this little thing works so poorly and makes more noise than all of my desktop's fans together (from what i see its 40-50mm 2 pin dc fan).
    Otherwise i am quite impressed by this station, only one issue : when I heat up the c245 tip above 300°C , it wont cool down unless i press the tip against the metal plate. I suspect, that it may be aconfic issue, but I cant seem to edit the software...

    • @the_equalizor

      I replaced the fan with a dual ball bearing one from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NTCXCYD/ and it work great! So much quieter, makes a huge difference. With regards the cooling down issue, have you tried just doing a factory reset (It wouldn't work on mine IIRC but ymmv)

    Dear sir ! Please tell me how to solve this issue.......
    I have bought a new Xsoldering pro......but from first time I am facing a problem with this.....
    C245 iron handle auto sleep sensor don't work above 250°C ....Maximum time I work in 350° ....then I have to reduce the temperature manually under 250°C ....
    But C210 handle is working fine.....at 400°
    how can i solve the problem sir !

      Sound like maybe the power supply is tripping out when it kicks in to heat the tip perhaps? That’s a return to sender issue I think.

    The black solder mask is more than cosmetic. It is a thermal "heat sink" (or more accurately "Heat Spreader") to mitigate hot spots created by power components. It shows up in many higher quality AC Adapters used to charge mobile phones.

    • @the_equalizor
      @the_equalizor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter,
      That didn't''t sound right to me, I don't think any PCB designer worth their salt is going to rely on the Solder Mask for real world cooling. Thats what copper pads/pours, heatsinks, thermally conductive pads and to some extent via stitching achieves.All of those can be factored into the design to achieve real world cooling.
      I've also repaired/torn down a large number of power supplies from companies like Astec, Besttec, FSP, Delta, MeanWell and the only ones which had black mask on were the Apple ones. Everything else has normal FR4 with usually, green resist.
      I think black mask is more a cosmetic thing than anything else. As I'm not an expert on this, I asked the question over on the EEVBLOG forum and the general consensus is that solder mask colour doesn't make a whole lot of difference to heat spreading or dissipation.

      Rob, many thanks for following up on this topic. While I agree that the "Black Solder Mask" is a fad (possibly a fashion statement), I know for a fact that black coatings and other "magic" are in volume product for heat mitigation. I'm under an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) so I can't share more details. However, with a bit of Patent research you will find it - some of the US Patents are now granted and in the public domain. Hope this piques your curiosity!

      @@pstonard In the absence of any verifiable evidence to show that black mask is used to assist in thermal dissipation on a PCB I think we’ll leave this discussion here. Definitely got me (and some eevblog guys) thinking though so that was interesting!

      @@sprflyenya cant use real jbc handles, constant reset while you are working with it. Their upgrade package comes with a virus to infect your computer. Not real accurate either. It looks like a children's toy sitting there.

    • @the_equalizor
      @the_equalizor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @vic lorenz I’ve never had my station reset while working with it and I’ve used it a lot. I’ve done plenty of smd and thru-hole with it and it’s been great so far. The updater doesn’t come with a virus (to infect your computer), - that’s nonsense. I even ran it through virustotal.com to check. Granted it’s not as accurate as it could be, but as long as you know that you can mitigate it, like I did. Now I have no affiliation with jdi, I get no kickbacks or sponsorships, so I’m completely independent. I don’t care if people buy it or not, all I can do is give my opinion on it.

      @@the_equalizor Norton 360 kicks it right out for spyware, also why would you use an executable on a 32 bit controller instead of a simple bin file upgrade? But of course the seller says "no problem, just turn off your antivirus". yeah....No. And the seller also admits you really need to use their tips because real JBC tips cause that issue (crashing).
      They advertise "using JBC tips and handles, then tell you, you can't use real tips and handles. Now the single handle unit will use real JBC tips and handles, but only runs 210 not 245. Read their fine print carefully. If they just said "JBC like" I would be less unhappy about their sales tactics.
