The director said in an interview the scene where Slash us walking down the aisle before the solo is actually him deciding to walk off set having had enough of filming they decided to leave it in.
It follows a story written by Del James called "Without You" and it tells the story of a successful rock star grieving the suicide of his wife. It's never 100% officially been said by the band, but supposedly their music videos and songs "November Rain", "Don't Cry" and "Estranged" form an unofficial trilogy that plays out the story by Del James.
You need to see "Don't Cry"... It is what happened in the middle of this song... And the conclusion is "Estranged". The trilogy of Guns'n'Roses... Go see them epic tunes as well.
Of this particular song, it was roughly about 10 years in the making... It was the song that Axl (lead singer) had rolling around in his head even before Guns was formed. He worked on it until he could get it down right... This is his baby. And the wife in the song was his real life girl friend at the time. You can see her in "Don't Cry" as well... But for the aforementioned reason she doesn't appear in "Estranged".

This is my second favorite GnR song. My absolute favorite is Patience, but tbh I just love them. I had the biggest crush on Slash, lol. This is just an amazing song all around.

From my understanding, I could be wrong.. the wedding itself is a dream. He dreams of marrying the girl he loved but she died by suicide so they never got the chance. The funeral procession is what really happened in place of the wedding.

If you notice in the beginning of the song he's waking up to rain ( it's November). Their wedding was in November it rained, she died in November it rained, her funeral was in November it rained. Hence November rain. So basically it's flash back ( which is why he was taking pills in the beginning) of all the highs and lows happening in November while it's raining.

The actress in the video is model Stephanie Seymour. Her and Axl were married at time. Whether the video is their actual wedding or not I can find no evidence. The video is part of a trilogy. My understanding is they go in this order
1. Don't cry
2. November rain
3 estranged

They filmed this mv here where I live! At the time it was the longest n most expensive mv to the tune of $1 million dollars!!! The tiny church out in the desert was sadly demolished shortly after they used it...

If you look closely you can see there’s a mirror in her casket, so she probably shot herself in the head. And, although the video was not from a real wedding (of course it wasn’t, lol!). The actress of the bride, supermodel Stephanie Seymour, was dating the lead singer Axl Rose at that time.

Did she die that day? I never dug into the story these videos were based on. I lost my wife in 2015 and I just assumed that in his dreaming, his mind jumped from their best day to the worst.

@@Mistilou Wow. Thanks, I'll check those out. I knew from the video she was unhappy (that scene where she's getting into the car), but I didn't realize it was THAT sort of unhappy. I just assumed that something happened to her later, but was unsure what. All I knew for sure was that she looked the same in the coffin, so I figured that not a lot of time had passed.
