Slash is honestly one of the best guitarists ever 🖤
Brother maybe been remastered in '22 but this IS the original video played a million times on MTV, back in the day.
I was confused when he said 2022 version and this video came on. Axel’s voice also doesn’t sound like this anymore.
The original song is the most viewed rock metal song since TH-cam existed. Somewhere around 2.3 billion views.
For a better example of their earlier, wilder output, most people would recommend Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, and Paradise City.
Heck. The entire Appetite For Destruction album is filled with bangers.
Rocket Queen!!!
Yes, Paradise City!!
PARADISE CITY LIVE IN TOKYO 92!!!!!!!!!
And then he’ll pretend he’s never heard them
I was in 7th grade when this came out in 1991. I watched the video with my mouth open, having never heard an orchestra with a metal song before. Obsessed. Absolutely obsessed. I would visit ALL of 1987's "Appetite For Destruction" which is a perfect album. GnR was one of the pivotal metal bands of the 80s and 90s. Pivotal.
Classic GnR! Slash is one of the greatest guitarists ever!
That guitar has soul even without context
A couple years these guys were literally the hottest and most popular rock band on the planet. They helped transition out of the excesses of the hair metal era back to a more hard Rock sound, also bridge the gap to grunge believe it or not. I wouldn't call them hair metal.
Highly recommend their song Estranged. It is just a massive epic... Like November rain
NOT HAIR METAL
Perhaps the greatest music video and song ever created...... EPIC and I was around for the very beginning of MTV when the actually showed music videos. And now you have met Axel and Slash -
i wish i could hear Use Your illusion 1+2 the first time again
This song is actually part of a trilogy and you need to listen to the other two to understand this video. You've almost certainly seen/heard of Slash, he get's everywhere and with everyone, imo one of the greatest rock guitarists.
It’s wonderful seeing someone else so thoroughly enjoying the music of my generation. This is the original version, the original video. Now you should also listen to what I am remember as their first song, Paradise City
Love love love! Took my son to his first concert in the mid 80s. Awesome concert. My late husband and I used to dance to this song in the evenings. Great memories.
Just beautiful ❤
"sweet child o mine" , "paradise city" n "welcome to the jungle" are the 3 gotta be next. That's the bangers everyone knows n loves. Do the visoes. There very entertaining 😉
It's all Slash!! He's that good, he makes the emotion come out of that guitar!! Rock on Slash!!
True artists.
Love, love, love GNR!! This is the second song in a video trilogy of theirs based on the short story Without You (which is pretty good). The first song is Don't Cry, second is November Rain, and the third is Estranged. All three are amazing. Also, their whole Appetite For Destruction album is absolute 🔥. Not a bad song on the whole album. Great reaction!! 🙂
Looks like your the first reactor that didn’t get so distracted by the bride in the coffin that you basically missed that outstanding guitar riff by Slash at the end. Congratulations! So many overlook it trying to figure out how she died that for once I wish they’d only listened to the lyric video .
Stephanie Seymour in that amazing gown too! This was a huge moment in rock when we were moving from LA hair metal to Seattle grunge. I'm lucky enough to live in Oregon, smack dab in the middle. The tours in the 90s were EPIC!
They had NOTHING to do “hair metal “
Incredible band. Evolved a lot with time but imo every one of their albums ranges from great to incredible (except the Spaghetti Incident, we don’t talk about that one). I would recommend checking out a lot of their live performances, especially Don’t Cry from 1987 At the Ritz (not 1988; also rly the entire performance at The Ritz in 1987 was insane), Knockin on Heavens Door at the Freddy Mercury Tribute concert, Estranged in Chicago ‘92, Knockin on Heavens Door 2006, November Rain at Tokyo ‘92, and so many of their recorded songs are incredible as well: You Could Be Mine, You’re Crazy (from GNR Lies), Welcome to the Jungle, Locomotive (Complicity), Patience, Move to the City, Rocket Queen, Breakdown, Get in the Ring (rly funny one), the entire Chinese Democracy album, and so so many others. Love this band, hope you do, too.
They really were brilliant. I honestly think that was the original version there may have been an extra 30 seconds of orchestra in with the rock but couldn’t really tell myself.
Guns N Roses... Only my time favorite... Our precious daughter used to
Get more active than normal when I was pregnant with her when I listened to them. I'll always remember that. They were my favorite before that, and always will be. Now they remind me of her. (She had trisomy 13, and I had her stillborn) They really are a great group. She loved the same stuff mama loves.
Slash makes the guitar cry, I've heard this song hundreds of times n I still get chills on the guitar solos. I've seen Slash twice, when he was touring with Myles Kennedy doing his own thing and twice with Guns n Roses, in a coliseum n a stadium. Sadly now Axl's voice can't reach the high pitches as before but still, always a good show. Gotta take advantage of bands like that playing live, not many of them left
Slash -the king of the singing electric guitar he's one of the greatest to ever pick up the instrument. Easily in my top 5
Like other said, you should hear Paradise City, as an example of their earlier faster and louder songs, also to hear Axl’s voice and style. To be honest, the albums Use Your Illusions I and Ii from which Nov Rain is taken are fantastic with their style versatility. You have a bit of everything on them rock-wise, but their first album is iconic.
Everybody needs sometime alone..to..everybody needs somebody...that's a change.
What’s happening!? What are we doing here! Hold on! PRICELESSS! I laughed out loud! Love it.
Best rock song of the 90s. Also my favorite rock band of the 90s. More G&R songs!
My favorite band of that era. GNR changed my life. Paradise City will knock you out of your chair. Mr Brownstone, Sweet Child, Welcome to the Jungle, Rocket Queen… you can’t go wrong
guns 'n roses is ICONIC- to my generation of growing up in the 1980's.... Axl's falsetto is phenomenal- Slash's guitar is some of the best... This song is one of the best ever.... listen to "sweet child 'o mine" next- the opening guitar riff is one of the best EVER!!
Slash going crazyyyyy
Slash is the GOAT of swag
One of their better songs. Live and let die.
You mentioned the mature lyrics, and I think it's interesting because rock music has always had a rich tradition of poetry and irony. There are many great story tellers in rock history.
First time I heard that last part, I was a kid, and I felt like I was discovering rockn'roll.
In my opinion, the last great rock band. Loads of talent as opposed to the typical vapid hair metal of the late 80s. The rock 'n roll torch was handed down the Sunset Strip from Led Zeppelin to Van Halen, to Motley Crue, to G'nF'nR. 🤟
looks like I gotta hear more!
@@SalvoG Facts.
Hey Charles. You may be interested to know that the good rock/metal is starting to make a comeback. Instead of trying to be faster/heavier/louder than the next guy, or relying on gimmicks like growl vocals or whatever, some bands are stepping it back to what made the genre huge in the first place. Great songwriting. I would suggest checking out Liliac or Plush. Let me know if you'd like some suggestions.
Gotta go with "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child O' Mine." Personal fave is "Rocket Queen." All from "Welcome to the Jungle," seriously one of the best debut albums of all time. Enjoyed the reaction. 🙂
I think you might have meant "Appetite for Destruction" as the album title!
Rocket Queen is a stellar track...
@@EchoesDaBear you're totally right - overzealous in my typing! 🙂
@@racing2cat no worries!! For all I knew, there might have been some awesome bootleg called "Welcome To The Jungle" with these great live versions!
Indeed, sometimes my fingers act faster than my brain. Cheers.
The only difference I could hear with this version vs the original was a BIT more orchestration. Nothing else is different as far as I could hear (or see)
It is the exact same one we’ve always known it’s just remastered and enhanced a bit for clarity. Not sure why it was sold to him as not the original… earlier versions don’t count because this song didn’t appear on a GnR album until 1991 so I guess it’s all in how some people look at it. 🤷🏻♂️
Whew, I thought it was just me. I kept thinking, "isn't this what we've always seen/heard?"
Salvo, what a great reaction! Such an amazing song - still remember when it came out in '92. Few could imagine how great hard rock & orchestra could sound, GnR made us believers! (I'm sure it might have paved the way for Metallica and Scorpions doing their symphonic concerts 6 years later!) Slash's solo at the end brought a new definition to a funeral march! To say we were awestruck is an understatement!
Between this song, Estranged, Don't Cry, Civil War and a handful of others from their Use Your Illusion I & II albums, GnR could do no wrong in the early 90's!! ...and then came The Spaghetti Incident a year later & GnR would be no more for quite a while...
When that flute kicks in at the beginning, makes me laugh every time.
6:43 Tracy and Roberta
This came out in 1992. Man, how time flies. The masterpiece really stands the test of time.
This is another great rabbit hole to dive into!!
Thank you for sharing your time with us. ☮️
SalvoG sorry but you start for the end, when guns wrote this song was "The Master Piece" after this they Made the album spaghetti incident, fulls of covers a goodones but the band never do something like the previous albums.
Also the song Is the same than the 90's version only a few More scenes of the orchestra and a louder chorus.
Great reaction SalvoG.
And this is why Gen X had it the best. We got to watch and enjoy and live all of these bands you people are now going back watching for us. Reliving it with is. Understanding what you missed out on.
Check out "Mr Brownstone!!!"
Paradise City
Check out I Use to Love Her... one of their funnier ones!
Their Debut Album is one of the best selling ever. Literally 8 awesome songs.....
"Paradise City" is one of their absolute best songs that gets me hype everytime!!!!
"Sweet Child of Mine" has a KILLLLLLLER SLASH SOLO....... Check these two songs out and react to them please.
Yes, Paradise City!! Video is amazing, too
You really wanna hear Slash and the Boys do their thang, check out any song from "Appetite For Destruction" or the songs "The Garden" (And "the Garden of Eden") or "You could be mine." Or "RIght next door to hell." Knock yer danged socks off, those will!
This song, along with Estranged (which is part of a trilogy, you started in the middle with November Rain) are kind of like GnR's Opus Magnus. This song in particular came about due to a melody on piano that Axl had started writing before GnR was even a band. As for the trilogy, it goes Don't Cry, November Rain, and Estranged. I highly suggest checking both of those out, you will love them. The only difference that I have noticed in the original version of this song (which I've listened to millions of times) and the 2022 version is that instead of the synthesized orchestral music, it's been overlaid with actual orchestral music. It makes the sound richer, something IMO they should have done when first recording it.
I absolutely LOVE your description of Slash's playing style, it's one of the reasons that he's one of my favorite guitar players. His style makes you FEEL something, which I appreciate. You should really start where it all began for GnR, with Welcome To The Jungle, that's the song that rocketed them into the mainstream. Their whole first album Appetite For Destruction is fire, not a bad song on it! I can't wait for you to go down this rabbit hole!!
Estranged is about something TOTALLY different than some relationship…there’s hidden messages all through the song, especially the video…Axl was warning us about the satanic cowards in power…in Don’t Cry he has a baby on a royal like cloth with green reptilian eyes and it says “THERES A LOT GOIN ON”. Axl Rose. The video shows him killing off his old satanic sell out self and then being “born again “ when they come out in all white with Jesus Christ directly behind him…Axl is “hiding “ in the video from the “illuminati”….which is actually the CFR, Council on Foreign Relations….
“Paradise City” “Sweet Child O’Mine”
LOVE this song, you have to hear others that are mentioning in the comments below. Axl Rose's vocals are really good.
I'm a 48 year old man from England and your reaction to Slash's first guitar solo made me smile. You haven't heard the rest yet!
Finally some Guns'N Roses!!! Do Paradise City live in tokyo 92 that's a fking masterpiece!!!!!!
Patting myself on the back rn for a great choice. Almost suggested Sweet Child O Mine but I'm sure you'll get to that 🧡
Another one from that same era, with a beautiful music video too is "Estranged", but yes, to discover the "origins", jump to the "Appetite for Destruction" era (Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O'Mine, Paradise City...)
More GnR plss!
Gotta check Estranged by them. Great song and video.
Sounded exactly like the original
React to Guns N' Roses : (Don't Cry) Live Tokyo 1992 : Axl's vocals are amazing
“November Rain” is based on the short story “Without You”, written by Del James and published in his book “The Language of Fear”. The story is basically about a rock star, grieving over the death of his girlfriend, who had committed suicide.
LA BALADA MAS TRISTE DE LA HISTORIA MUSICAL
Even amazonian tribes heard of GN'R ! Axl and Slash are God's favourites pals when he is throwing a party in Heaven, now and then...
this is the original version of the video
It's the same video and song they released back in the day, it's just mixed a bit differently.
Guns N Roses isn't heavy metal. It's hard rock. Too many groups became labeled heavy metal that aren't. Don't get me wrong, I will always like Guns N Roses, just wanted to set the record straight on the proper genre they should be included in.
Most people in the comments are naming their popular mainstream songs (Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City and Sweet Child O'Mine). Check out, Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, My Michelle, It's So Easy, Out Ta Get Me and You're Crazy from their first album, Appetite for Destruction.
Love Guns & Roses 🌹 Slash is actually British/American!! 🎩 🚬 💨
“We got into doing these huge production videos and by NovemberRain it was too much, just too involved. At the end of day, it was a great video but that’s when I started realizing that it was getting out of hand.” (Slash) 🎸
There was always an orchestra in this song...did they add more, or just remastered?
Heard it hundreds of times and I can't find anything different in this 'version'. To me it's a Top all-time great _song_ let alone the Rock genre, where it's equal to Stairway To Heaven in my book. Not even a G&R fan, but this is a masterpiece. Paradise City is another that will blow your roof off.
Paradise City is heavenly rock and roll.
The entire thing sounds remixed/mastered to me.
You can hear the pumping of the synth pads clearer at the beginning, the strings sit much higher in the mix while the flute is given a touch more treble.
The acoustic picking is clearer too, and there's some deep droning background vocals that I've never really heard before.
Slash's guitar solo is less drenched in reverb and sounds slightly more mid-forward.
It sounds to me like they've sharpened up the orchestration to be more prominent, and the whole thing sounds noticeably clearer and less cluttered than the original.
@@Nui. I think it is good, the only thing I don't like is that you can no longer hear Axl's piano during Slash's solo. I don't know why they would do that, it was great.
If you need a concrete example of why Slash is one of my all-time favorite guitar players...
👍❤🔥
what the slash???? ahahaha
Check out this page for how the 2022 version actually differs and also the reason why it was done. It is very faithful to the original classic (only 3 second difference), which has has nearly 2bn views !! th-cam.com/video/8SbUC-UaAxE/w-d-xo.html
You said "With an orchestra" like that's weird lol... Yea, the original song, from Use Your Illusion had an orchestra from the beginning as it was supposed to
"Appetite for Destruction"... your welcome... Peace
Axl Foley?
Original version
Elton john 🤝axl rose
Believe this is about Axl and Erin Everly relationship broke pregnancy miscarriage she left him heart broken he a started stung amstephanie woman in video.
this version feels off to me
Axle rose is actually known as having the most range of any rock singer
Much better showing the groups talent without the orchestra
No way that youre this old and havent heard any
The absolute antithesis of what made Appetite for Destruction great. Bloated, overproduced, hyperindulgent sentimental garbage. Slash is the only thing worth listening to on this
At the time of making it was the most expensive music video ever made. It cost over a million dollars back then
I auggeat you to listen 1986 piano versikn of this song you dont have to do a reaction to it but its fucking amazing. You can hear his voice so clearly there so powerful. He has 6 octave voice
Hey dude, how’s the taliban training going?…
