- So a while back I rescued this poor little ILGETTE from a fellow fan "collector" on Long Island because I thought it was neat and I realized it really wasn't in the best hands... I knew it was a little rough, but as I quickly found out, (only after I completed the trade and got it home) this thing lived a very tough life and is totally beat! After some questioning, (which had to involve multiple people because the person I got it from is very quick to come up with different stories depending on who he is talking to) I learned that he acquired this thing and that it was already in tough shape, but rather than reaching out for help and doing things the right way, he just ran it until it seized up and then realized he should oil it. In addition to that, he managed to bend the blades up somehow and overall just neglected and abused it. Of course he was very quick to blame everyone but himself, and I later learned that this is how he treats all his fans (if not worse) no matter what advise he receives. Luckily I managed to save a couple antique fans and only traded more modern 90's stuff that I pulled from the trash so even if he destroys them it's not a great loss.
Luckily this little ILGETTE is in good hands and will see an easy retirement, which started in this video. I started out by giving it some love it really needed so I can at least run it until I eventually find another motor for it and make it into a window fan for my bedroom!
More to come in the future on this fan as it will likely be re-powered and I'm even toying with the idea of fully restoring it! :) - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
