    Angling your rod ends inwards at the correct angle (as mentioned at the 12 minute mark) gives more of a 1:1 steering ratio.
    As an example, I ride my ends on the 2nd hole back of my high steer arms.
    Yet another great vid Matt.

    nice work...you remind me of me lol....we are the types that enjoy doing the (hard) projects almost more than we do driving the finished project....I spent 4 years building a street rod from scratch, including the frame, front inboard horizontal coil-over suspension and the 4 link rear, the complete body and removable top and interior...geesh! I must be nuts lol...it won many awards including best of show.....not bragging at all....just sayin most people would not attempt so much work but people like you and me enjoy it lol....nice to see others using their brains and common sense

    You got lots of knowledge and lots of tools. And you are using all of it with amazing skills. One suggestion I have.
    Invest on knowledge and equipment for stamping and heat treating metal. A simple strong bracket will be more effective some times.
    Outstanding video as always

    Just some info when grinding Aluminum, apply some grease to both, the Aluminum and the soft wheel disc.
    This keeps the material from gumming up the disc.
    Generally a 36 grit soft wheel works best.

    The best way to work with aluminium is to cut it with a saw. Only grind the last few mikrometers. This work really well

    How have you found the ox locker? I have currently got a rubicon locker in the front of my jk and a 35 spline arb in the rear. The front locker is playing up and the rear locker is leaking yet again and im over it. Was thinking about giving the ox a try just havent seen too many reviews on them

    Care needs to be taken when changing shape of diff. inside shape of stock covers are designed to feed gear lube smoothly and not aerate. If lube does not flow well will decrease amount lube going to pinion bearing and fluid with air in it does not dissipate heat as well. Those cool looking squared off aluminum covers with fins I see on many rears are poorly designed.

  • @MrJTime

    Never weld next to a ram. The weld spatter can damage the rod which will rip the seals to bits.

  • @BrianW2979
    @BrianW2979 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not mount that piece to the bottom of the ram, instead of the top, and use it like a skid plate to protect the ram? Looks good what you did though :)

    welding your ram to sheet metal and a cast diff cover. have fun with that.

  • @djtoo7
    @djtoo7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    why didn't you just make a bracket that welds/mounts to the top truss and the axle??? U never want to put such stress on a cover anything cast like that could crack with all that force on it, You could make a beefy C shape or U Shape very shallow that would bold/weld to each side of the tubes and truss that you can take off. just a thought... keep it up

    Sanding aluminum and steel using the same belt or disc sander is not necessarily the smartest idea. Aluminum powder or grinding swarf is potentially dangerous if it is mixed with iron or steel grinding wastes and is wet. These are the basic ingredients of a thermite bomb, and there is a very real risk of a fire due to the reaction between the aluminum and the iron.

    • @bagelbytes69420
      @bagelbytes69420 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick Gross I sincerely doubt that the temperatures will get hot enough to ignite the supposed thermite, and couple that with the fact that the ratios will likely be far off from what the reaction requires I think he'll be okay.

    so my gas gauge on my jeep keeps bouncing around so it's confusing knowing how much gas I got left, it specially bounce when I give a big turn. Does anybody know what it can be? Sensor maybe

    • @devinearls7117
      @devinearls7117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sending unit, maybe. Yknow, the lil doodad in yer tank what fer slurpin' up fuel and sending it to the engine.
      If you drop your fuel tank and disconnect all the fuel lines to it, there's an assembly that screws into the top. This assembly should have an inline fuel filter, a tube that sucks up the gas into the lines, and a float that shows fuel level. (like a carburetor, toilet, or swamp cooler) This float may be rusted, loose, or have a hole in it, allowing it to fill with gasoline, which would prevent it from floating and give you erratic readings.

      +joe smith Full Hydro has no backup plan or hard link to the wheels in case of a hydraulic failure... meaning if you were going down the highway and a hose busted you would have no steering control. You might get by with hydro assist which keeps the stock steering but just adds a single ended ram to help it along. See my upcoming video on this topic.

    • @nekoroms
      @nekoroms 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BleepinJeep Adam Savage had the pitman arm get loose on his land cruiser while driving on a freeway...quess the nut keeping it on was a tiny bit loose and it destroyed the axle coming out of the steering box. you can never have too much redundancy on your steering :). full hydro basically has no redundancy in a case of failure.
