This guy is actually using a step bit in a drill press on a thick piece of steel that has all kinds of sharp edges on it WITHOUT and kind of clamps/hold downs.....bro...you have balls of steel lol love the channel by the way, gives me all kinds of ideas for my XJ
I was using safety glasses at one point, grinding on a bracket for a 93 xj... got some hot metal on my cheek and decided to switch to face shield. Then I managed to get a splinter in by eyeball like you. At the ER the nurse went through the battery of questions and asked if I lived in a safe environment. I asked what she meant, she goes: "well, aside from flying Jeep parts, is your home safe?"
9:10.. matt after all that safety equipment (ppe) you just used a grinder and zip disk without a guard spinning at roughly 3600 RPM. hahahaha Captain redundancy!!! keep up the good videos and stay safe
I don't see why you didn't mount to "skid" to the bottom of the ram and choose to put it on top instead? Do you have plans to mount a different skid for the bottom; as I see the bottom having much more contact with trail obstacles than the top? perhaps the trick mounts you made allow it to be mounted either way?
I probably could but I see this more as a compliment to the other bracket, plus a protector for the hoses, and a front end smack guard. The ram is actually up 4 or so inches higher than the bottom of the axle tube and I don't foresee it getting hit very often unless I come sliding off a rock going in reverse. If it does get whacked then I'll consider a slider there but many just put them out front with no protection at all and have no problems.
A lot of people use dry ice and a chisel. I use a tool by steck called a body knife, cheap on Amazon and cuts right through it. I have been doing rust repair and it's worked better than a razor for the sealer. I suppose a regular chisel could work also but would probably need to be sharpened a couple times.
+ScurvyPerformance Haaa, i went the complete wrong way i used a heat gun and a razor knife. it didnt work so well. even when i painted over it it still stick to my boots
idk if this is gonna protect you from any rocks.. but if you throw a piston throught the oilpan at red line this might have your back.. still wont work though if bits are flying out of your infernal combustion device

I love watching you build and explain what and why your doing. Keep it up.
The amount of fab put into this axle and the attention to detail makes me really interested to see what you do to the rest of the jeep
If I can get what's in my head on the "canvas" then it will be the coolest Cherokee man has ever seen... But I still have a lot to learn.

Are you planning to protect the bottom of your ram? They tend to get beat up if you play in big rocks.
another great video! the jeep is coming along beautifully :)
You are now the official poster child for OSHA. Just kidding I do the same
Great video thanks

Why not fab up your own mount? Other the cool plasma table cuts?
Cool plasma cuts
How did you hook up the hydraulic cylinder to the power steering and steering box.
+cheep jp it goes to the orbitol valve

Hey Matt, i was wondering if you had any tips/tricks to removing the stuff that looks like sound Deadening on the foot wells of cherokees
+pondbear71 Really coarse sand paper, old wire wheel, laquer thinner and elbow grease. it sucks haha

Not sure, i was thinking about leaving it.
3:28 and this is why I keep every piece of scrap I’ve ever come across haha you just never know
Are you going to weld the 4link bracket completely.
Yes
Shot be gettin reels son! 😲

Nice
Matt what happened to those "dinosaurs" you made in a prev vid? Are you still going to use them?
Yep, I need to buy struts before I can weld them on.
cant wait badass
I've always been told and learned that you usually want to mig weld up instead of down, but I'm no pro so I could be wrong.
thats correct for mig tig and smaw
shes a beauty
That guard would make more than 0% sense if it was on the bottom.
grinding wrecks and car parked near on a dewy2 night
man, I need a bench big enough I can lay on...
It's looking good!!! 4 THUMBS UP HAHA
Try cutting the weld instead of cutting the actual material youll have far less to grind
You forgot your hard hat
