    Hey Colt, nice job!
    Not trying to be mister know it all, just trying to help everyone. Saginaw PS boxes use different size fittings for pressure and return, can't be incorrectly installed, also when grabbing PS boxes from junk yards, don't forget Saginaw boxes use different types of fittings. Early boxes use inverted flare style of fittings, later boxes use O- ring fittings. This pump upgrade is a must when adding a ram, you really need the increase in PSI and GPM to reap the benefits of the ram

    Just a tip when doing power steering work. Once you are putting the fluid in, draw a vacuum on the reservoir and it'll pull all of the air out for you before ever turning the pump at all. I use a brake bleeder, that I stuck the hose through a rubber shock bushing I had laying around the garage. Then you can hold that rubber bushing down on the top of the reservoir opening to seal the system. Works fantastic every time, never had a single air bubble or groaning pump!

    Running power steering through the trans cooler as a part of the radiator helps keep it from "overheating", but also due to the coolant heat, holds it at a stable operating temp of engine operating temp, so that the power steering is not cooling an heating depending on use.

    The radiator's transmission fluid cooler is a great idea to keep power steering fluid temperatures in operating range at 180 F and below 250 F. I actually plumbed the trans cooler of my radiator for additional coolant flow from the heater circuit to help combat the Arizona desert heat. I use a separate trans cooler and didn't want to waste the extra cooling capacity of the radiator. The radiator/trans cooler is really a fluid warmer more than it is a cooler. The cold temperature in snow country can make the power steering fluid flow like molasses and put excessive forces on the pump, the lines, and seals causing failure. Good video. Keep Em rollin.

    Colt, is it better to use anti-seize as a lubricant on your pullers vs something like axle grease? Great video as always!

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally use antiseeze but I don't see why grease wouldn't work too.

      No!!! Antiseize has metal in it! Horrible idea. Should never be used in moving parts and the puller will see pressure in the threads and wear it out faster! Lost some credibility in the mechanical knowledge watching the video and seeing that.

    Toyota and Nissan forklifts have full hydro steering that can be ran on a toyota power steering pump and im sure other's. I currently have 300$ in my truck steering and I'm running 15in wide 36's and can turn them no concrete with one finger at a dead stop.

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Full hydro steering isn't road legal in most states. This is hydro assist because many states require mechanical linkage.

      @@bleepinjeep true true and its not legal in Ga either but luckily none of the states down here as long as we aren't directly causing danger to others I.E. speeding or running over stuff on one cares lol.

      Regular power steering fluid but I'd steer towards synthetic fluid like swepco or Lucas.

      I had a pump failure and it was horrible. So I just capped the ports on the gear then put a jumper hose between extend and retract on the ram I’m willing to bet if you were to have enough fluid in the ram with an orifice in the jumper it would now act as a dampener
