I am a multi-stan, but FTISLAND is like home to me. Vocalwise, Lee Hong Ki is my MOST favorite.

Just to share with you a little of the band's musical history.
FTISLAND has been around since 2007. They started out as an idol band but ever since 2015 when they released their album I Will, they tried to redirect their group to a more serious rock genre, which was what the band initially wanted to be. However as South Korea’s main audience do not appreciate rock like how they do mainstream K-pop and sentimental ballads/soul music, their company made them into an idol pop rock band.
So that’s why in their earlier works, you see poppish songs like Hello Hello, I Wish, I Hope, and rock ballads like Love Sick, After Love, Bad Woman, Severely, etc as these music are what sells in the Korean market. Back then when they were still considered idols, they did not have the creative freedom to compose and write their own music. They were forced to perform whatever music that was produced for them by their company.
Only when they were promoting in Japan were they able to release some actual rock songs since Japan has a huge rock fanbase.
After around 2014 when they started fighting with the company for their rights to create music THAT THEY WANT did they manage to release PRAY in 2015, and right after, Take Me Now in 2016 which is also heavy rock.
Ever since then they were able to produce more and more rock songs in their album.
    Back story of FTISLAND:
They were originally a 5 member band. Lee HongGi as vocalist, Lee JaeJin as bassist, Choi MinHwan as drummer, Choi JongHoon & Song SeungHyun as guitarists. However, ever since 2019 they lost both their guitarists. JongHoon was arrested for his involvement in the Burning Sun Scandal, and SeungHyun left the group to pursue a normal life.
With all that they've been through, throughout their career life, it's a wonder how these 3 remaining members are able to pull through. They have professed to their fans that they're not about to stop anytime soon. Their passion for music and love they receive from their fans are what keeps them going.
I recommend you also check out their Sage album released last year. Watch the MV with captions. It’s basically them telling the story of how they want to leave the past behind and start a whole brand new chapter and walk a new path with just the 3 of them now with their fans.
They have promised us Primadonnas that despite all the hurdles they faced, their passion for music is even greater and it’s not gonna stop them. They’re still gonna continue and come back even stronger with better music that represents them.
I want to believe SAGE is the first Korean album with just the 3 of them, that truly represents FTISLAND’s real music. Not industry puppets but true artistes who make their own music.
So far they have proven us right with this new album that dropped right after. Every single track has their contribution from composing to lyric writing. I hope this continues on and that they can finally have full control of the music that they want to make.

If you think this song gave you chills, you ain't hear nothing yet. FTISLAND's music is worth diving into. After this you should check out their main title track from this new album, Serious. th-cam.com/video/pnrmW_Man7I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mhC2XqkzQTy8HGkx
My personal favourite track from this album is T.I.V (Tears In Vain), and I highly recommend you listen to that as well. There's no MV to it, just an audio clip. This link has the best translation to the song imo. th-cam.com/video/bqpQKe5C4Go/w-d-xo.html
In fact I think you should check out the rest of the album, on your own time if not a reaction, just to understand their sound and music. I would come back with more recommendations in the future if you enjoy their music. They have a large Japanese discography too, many of them better than the Korean ones. SHADOWS is one of them and it goes reallyyyyyyy hard. 🔥🔥🔥 It's probably their hardest one yet. th-cam.com/video/WHcGnzqUzFU/w-d-xo.html
