For me it is Amber King, Luetin, and MK. Each are a little bit different and go about lore differently. MK is nice because it is daily and gives me a laugh. Luetin is like that great history class you had with the great teacher. Amber King makes me love characters that I never got fully into previously. I absolutely LOVE Alpharius now because Amber King made me see him completely differently, the same with the Khan and Sigi.
In a perfect world Eldar featuring in other races' stories would operate under the same mandate James Sterling did in the series Leverage: As the antagonist they can lose, but even then they are tricksy, prescient and clever enough they still come out better in the end than they were when they went in.
There are so many things needed to fix Craftworld lore it's insane. It's like GW looked at every potential story option and deliberately took the worst route in terms of marketability and cohesion. For the Ynnari, I honestly think they need to be rewritten from the drawing board, that's how far back they failed on them.
@PancreasNoWork A possible out for the Ynnari is to pull a Votann and reveal a bunch of Aeldari who hid on small craftworlds / ships, and have survived purely by hiding in uninhabited systems and the voids between them. Many of them now in old age flock to the God of the Dead for renewal and salvation.
If GW ever wanted to give The Ynarri a meaningful ark, A trip into the garden of nurgle to rescue isha (and maybe get an avatar or new isha based units) would be a pretty awesome way to do it. They can even throw in Kaldor draego or some shit so that theirs a space marine around to get the credit, its fine.
They escape from the Garden of Nurgle with a relic for the Imperium in the first Ynnari book. Was great reading about Incubii and Harlequins relishing in slaughtering the minions of Nurgle on his home turf and needing to be told get back into the webway.
Two of my favourite content creators together on one video?! I didn't think I deserved this, but now I've had a taste, I have become “She Who Thirsts".
You HAVE READ MY MIND...I USUALLY listen to like Luton or Baltimore to go to sleep because their lore videos are like hours long or I'll listen to like a border Prince doing a narration that's like a two to three hour video like the bad at War or something you know what I'm saying? Lately I've been listening to fireplaces although the other night I found space cockpit which basically is your traveling through not the warp of course LOL but just space and it's pretty cool it's like white noise with some beeping but the sheer fact that you put this out I know you did it for everyone but it feels like you did it for me and I feel special! LOL seriously though you're in my top five favorite channels bro you rock keep it up for the emperor my brother
I have been using lore videos to help me drift off for over a year now, it’s weirdly how I got into warhammer.. listening to epic stories kicks you right into dreamland
WHAAATT....Lore that Isn't on Humans ?? WTF?? Is the Rhana Dandra on the way ??? A really good discussion too....this is incredible . I didnt know humans are capable of NOT being so ignorant after all
Late here but honestly l, humanity in 40k is boring, they always win, they never have any major character deaths or defeats (asides cadia I guess) and they are always portrayed in the right and everyone is always wrong and bla bla kill all aliens bla bla for the emperor.
Enjoyed the format, hoping for more! This was a very interesting discussion and I'm glad you brought it up. It's always bugged me how badly the Eldar have been treated in 40k. Neglected, abused, badly written. The contrast with Fantasy/AoS is intriguing - I'm not well versed in those settings at all. But I hope 40k manages to turn its treatment of the Aeldari around as there's just so much wasted potential.
I had an idea for Eldar in that with the coming of ynead, and that they die off far faster than they could ever recover from, that the souls of the dead who filter into the infinity circuits and world souls for exodites, could be rebirthed as a form of wraithbone sylvan. It would then progress into these hybrid tree-like Eldar infused creatures to go into a erase all others except Eldar and grow more of these "trees" or forests on dead planets to create situations for Eldar to re-populate, or creat worlds and craft worlds of their own, in the flavor of "trees". It would siphon the dead into new life as a contrast to chaos, yet still destroy in favor of their version of creation.
This was highly enjoyable. As an Eldar fan myself(I don't like the Aeldari name) I wish GW would do more with them... But GW is not invested in the universe so much anymore.
The King's voice is perfect for these podcasts; soothing and enthusiastic. Here for it. Do continue, please; more guests, more talks... Yes. _(Baldermort, Vox in the void, Border Prince, Luetin09, Arch, Only War, Remembrancer, Valrak, even Weshammer, Makorkill and One-mind Syndicate... Henry Cavil and many more.)_
Aeldari lore is very cool. I personally like the sadness it brings. I wanted to point out to podcasters the White Dwarf issue 473 and recent re-emergence of Craftworld Altansar fein the Warp. That's a cool lore of showing the awesomeness of a craftworld battle and the scale of it you are mentioning in the podcast.
I love this idea for video format and i was using this last night to relax and drift off, but I have a suggestion for possible improvement: tweaking the audio levels to be slightly quieter to help with the passing out since the mic input is obviously different for both people on the show
Love that idea of Aeldari ghosts, but would be difficult unless you kept Slaanesh occupied/ ot of commission, based upon the lore. Suppose we could find some aeldari lost tech on one of the Crone Worlds that would make something like this feasible As it currently stands, like you say, I'd just settle for some wins and maybe a bit more love. If GW give them that, then they may actually be able to sell more of their models.....
That introduction slaps. Not sure if it's the Eldar's default tune of smug superiority; or Noise Marines beginning to play something when they spot a Craftworld
im really liking warhammer fantasy for the geographical context for all the factions' interaction. for example greenskins. If they go north, it's all mountains and stunties. except that small choke point entering into old world. If they go south, it's just bloody endless pit of sand and mummies. If they go east, it's blasted land for name sake, and they get enslaved on the way. If they go west, the border princes will blast u into the depth of salty water.
In Warhammer fantasy elves has saved the world more times than you can count and since magic is the most powerful weapon in the setting they really just have a single equal which is the Lizardmen. Despite this they help lesser races like humans improve by teaching them the ways of magic. They are the opposite of arrogance. The assumption that Warhammer elves are arrogant comes from Tolkien elves, despite them being nothing alike. Eldar however are a bit arrogant, they sometimes think they're still the masters of the universe despite being a dying race. They don't expand or build new craftworlds, they're not trying to rebuild their society, or restore the pantheon, all they're doing is trying to maintain their legacy and collect elven souls to temporarily save them from Slannesh. Despite their looks the Eldar are not really space elves, they are slick and pretty space dwarves. They have way more in common with fantasy dwarves than with the actual elves. They're a cool race though and have an amazing aesthetic and I wish Games Workshop would pull their head out of the emperor of mankinds butt and start writing good lore that covers the entire universe instead of just fapping to space marine plot-armor all the friggin time. It has made 40k extremely stale, predictable and boring.
@@philosophyfrog2653 it has potential to be so, but its usually taken at a face value. I just take most of the information about imperium/xenos as the imperial propaganda. Eldars aren't that bad, in many ways they're better than imperium, at least they care of their own, imperium just uses its citizens as cannon fodder while keeping them in dark and pumping them full of misinformation. Eldars look down on humans, sure. But humans look down on any other xeno race. Imperium gets a lot of forgiven for being a "protagonist", but a lot of shit they do to their own is much worse than what tau or eldar do to them, lmfao.
When it comes to lore usually don't like guest appearances/podcast style talk video. This one was the only one I liked until now and until the end. All your other videos are top notch as well Amber, thank you for the time you spent doing this for us.
How would these ghosts prevent slanesh from eating them? I like the idea, but it needs some work hehe. Maybe these ghosts venture forth from their soulstones and all the while they feel slanesh looking at them, till they return to the stone.
When the Imperium invaded Alaitoc it was quite a huge battle with quite the struggle for the Imperium to gain ground onto the Craftworld. The plot made sense for why they weren't as prepared as they would have liked to have been given how they dismissed the concerns of the eldar seer attempting to warn them about the results of the actions of her former friend. While the localized time stop phenomenon they were able to achieve was kinda strange, it was a cool moment to cap off the events of that story. I think bringing back the Phoenix lords for the shining spears and the warp spiders could help to move the eldar story forward. Has there been any update for those Phoenix lords in "recent" lore, or no?
Drasanta, no. But there was a paragraph in phoenix awakening about imperial guard stumbling across armor that warp spiders jumped in and stole. Could be any Phoenix lord armor though.
It seems to me that the writers do not understand any scales regarding Eldar. Especially with them appearing in other books (and even their own honestly). For example, the scale of emotion or Aeldari’s worth to each other. I think they should be written as a tragedy because they are doomed, they know they have failed and try their best to exist in this hell of their (kin‘s) own making. Just these powerful, extremely emotional beings struggling against the darkness closing all around them, always grasping for the dying light. None of this works when you write about horrendous losses that you get numbed from the disaster. I like to think they work best as mythological creatures/heroes. This makes them also so alien when you have both humans and eldar in the same story and just their experience of existence is fundamentally different. It has to be personal, otherwise it does not work. At least for me it doesn’t.
There is so much wrong with the writing of games workshop lore and books like where do you start. Honestly they should redo all the books and go back and fix all the stupid stuff they left writers mess up. I realize they have gone back to rewrite the heresy but they should rewrite that too because so much don't make sense.
If there's so many bodies stacked that it's literally touching clouds, there wouldn't be enough buildings and living space to fit that many eldar in a craftworld. Some of the writing makes 0 sense. Is a craftworld the size of a bus? A football field? Even still it makes no sense it isn't possible.
