This turned out well! Love how you used the space available and able to pack so much in. I haven’t used any decoration mods myself, but I understand there are some good ones out there (ESO?).
@johnwpipes8927 yeah was quite pleased with this, wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it's not bad if I do say so myself 😁 I've had a few recommendations of mods in other comments 👍🏻
Hey Mike I saw something really cool the other day with The Furious Power Fist that you get from killing swan and if you use it with VATS it is actually really effective and makes for a good cinematic 👍
Lovely chill build video. This place is looking great, just needs some peeps. As far as decoration mods go, yes, there's a mod for that. You just have to find it lol. The vanilla choices are quite limited. For example, there are three bed mods that I make heavy use of. Sofa Surfer allows the player to sleep on any sofa in the commonwealth. It never made any sense to me that this wasn't an option. Ideal for survival mode. Crash on My Couch adds a couple of vanilla looking couches for settlers that are assignable as beds because, why sleep on a scank mattress on the floor right? Snappy Beds is my go-to for variation of sleep options. It has some decent variation of textures on vanilla single, double, and bunk beds that actually count as such, and settlers will use them. Texture flicker ( like your floor) occurs when two textures are competing for the same pixels. Simply adjust one object ever so slightly up or down and the issue is resolved. Nobody will ever notice. 🤏👌 Hope you and the family had a great vacation. See ya next episode. Remember, f2 will allow you to bypass vertical snapping, so you can place items under tables or sink a chair into a rubbish pile 😉
@BionicleJackson thanks for the recommendations, I've added them to my ever growing list of mods I need to check out when I finally jump in at the deep end 😎. Glad you like the settlement! I finished it off this evening so will upload the showcase now (it does have some settlers in it now at least, beacon is on to keep bringing em in!) Vacation was lovely thank you, kids had a great time and the weather was perfect 😎👌🏻
Hangman's Alley has two spawn points. The first is outside the western entrance. The second, irritatingly, is just INSIDE the northern access. Defending against this is fraught so I tend to put turrets back near where you have your 'Drugs' sign at ground level to catch the buggers as they run in. The eastern door is free. Note 1: you can place turrets on the balconies adjacent to the western fence. Note 2: I recommend at least 4 turrets facing spawn points. Higher level enemies toss grenades at them so space them out. The most effective turrets are missile turrets as area-of-effect weapons. They also have twice the defensive rating of other turrets. Note also for electrical turrets, wire each separately, don't string them together as damage to the first kills them all. The separate conduit section in the build menu comes with one of the DLC, it's not provided in vanilla FO4. Oh and, great job with this build. You displayed more imagination than I for the first time. As a caution I will hazard, however, that when the peops move in, they tend to stand around and block up narrow corridors. Worse still when a brahmin wanders in.
@AlmostFair oh that is annoying, not online at the minute but if the northern one is the one I'm thinking they'll spawn underneath the turrets I've placed at higher levels 🤣 I finished it off tonight as well and the showcase is uploading as we speak. Ah well I can see what an attack ends up looking like and if it's a car crash I'll amend accordingly 😁 On the settlers standing around, I've encountered that issue today, they all seem to loiter rather than do their jobs. Even the store staff don't actually stand at their stations 🤣
@@mike-thegamingdad FYI, I have recently found a vid provided by oxhorn and while it is 8yr old it is helpfull "Here are all the attack spawn points for every single settlement". Hangman's Alley is not the only settlement with a spawn point inside the build area. He also released an informative companion vid "How Settlement Attacks Work - Fallout 4". I can recommend both.
Mods for crafting I would recommend, Homemaker - Expanded Settlements by: Bombasticmori (so, so many buildable items from within the game), Craftable Display Shelves by: Elianora (always hated the vanilla Bobble display, and this gives a Robot Model Display, as well as Nuka Cola, and Vim Displays), and if you are in to decorating then OCDecorator by: mcface is a must (you can make just about any object or junk item a static item that Settlers or companions (or explosions...) can not knock around).
@theidajawho awesome thanks! The Last one sounds great, I'd have made use of that tonight as I've just spent a few hours finishing the settlement off and placing a load of items down. I carefully placed teddy bears in the corner of all the beds and overnight the settlers moved them all 🤣
@@mike-thegamingdad BTW, you know there is no dirt at Hangman's so you can not put down Water gathering assets. A mod adding that would be handy also, I use Food and Water standalone (or something like that).
@theidajawho ah yeah I did struggle for spots to put the water assets. There were only a few places that I could find that would accept the small ones. I'll add that mod to my list.😁
I'm assuming that this is some kind of outdoor vault experiment. You have provided them with guns to shoot each other after becoming addicted to chems and alcohol. Nice.
Great job, it's really hard building in this alley.. I like the one that made it look like a neon sign downtown area, but it does tax the system like all that stuff will kill your FPS in that area....it's always been a 'problem' area.
@iamyourmuse I've started to notice that Boston is a problem now anyway, going into buildings it tends to load quite quickly, but exiting back into that area I've had some really long load times
@@mike-thegamingdad Yes, there is a mod to help with that, it's the previs of the game and how they lump assets together so it loads faster but also if you scrap any of them connected it breaks the precombine previs...so there's a mod for that called Boston Previs Precombine that helps with all that. It''s just the game...there''s alot of info on it some say to disable the previs/precombine, but that is only if you have a very high end graphics card and CPU processor that can handle all that...I use Boston Previs and then also use a mod called FAR which keeps the game running smoothly so as not to load in the far away stuff till you get so close to it, plus I use Vivd textures BEST CHOICE which also helps the textures look better and are smaller so as not to cause loading, there's also LOD with that VIVID mod which I haven't used yet, but I have no problems with the previs or it not loading...I've had crashes but it is probably a mod conflict who knows....I have a stable load order now in my current game and no crashes so far.
Funny you should mention ' Breaking bad". That's how my Minuteman faction becomes by far the richest and most powerful faction in the Commonwealth. By selling drugs and arms. 😂
Hey Mike, good build. Do you find your settlers use the elevator, mine don’t, never managed to get them to use it. Is there any chance you’d consider doing a Fallout London playthrough. Ive watched a couple of others play it and it looks fun. I can’t play it myself because I only have PlayStation.
@NannyOggins as of yet I've not seen them use it no, maybe they aren't programmed too, it's probably worth while I look to see if there is a mod called 'settlers use elevator fix' or something 🤣. I've fast travelled back and they've been on upper levels, but that's it. Yeah I'd consider it for sure! 👍🏻 I've been asked about a survival mode run as well. I'd be tempted by either once the main campaign of this one is done.
You commented about leveling up faster when you build settlements, and it got me wondering: if you put on INT gear while building, would you get the XP bonus for having higher INT?
@ppierce72 hmm that would make sense actually, yeah! I made sure I slept regularly at the settlement to get the resting bonus XP, so in theory INT gear would do the same 👍🏻

I use a mod, 'Settlement electricity overhaul' (SEO). You place a small power box anywhere you like and everything is powered.
@shaneferris6742 ah yeah I have seen that one on the mod page, but I didn't know that's what it did 😮
uso and oc decorater
