Not only not only keeping the sabbath of the land, but also idolatry. They were to sow the land for six years, but in the seventh yesrs, the land was given a rest.
Pretty close! But the exile DOES seem to have started in 607 BCE, not 605. 1: the 605 date seems to be primarily fixed because Nebuchadnezzar did not actually take the throne until 605, therefore people presume that was the earliest he could have been taking cities. Indeed Nebopalassar was sitting king in 607, and Babylonian records confirm he was on a war campaign prior to his father's death. It was the news of his father's death that brought him back home (with captives) in 605. This actually resolves a proposed contradiction between Daniel 1 and 2. Daniel 1 says Daniel was to be given 3 years of education prior to qualifying to serve the king. Yet Daniel 2 shows him serving the king during Nebuchadnezzar's 2nd year. Nebuchadnezzar has taken Daniel in his first year (605), then in his second year (604) Daniel would still be at the beginning of his Babylonian education. However, if Daniel were taken in 607 (when Nebuchadnezzar's father were still reigning), then Daniel's 3 year education would match up with Nebuchadnezzar's 2nd year just fine. 3: Also, note, Daniel 1 starts off "in the 3rd year of Jehoiakim." Josiah died when he intercepted Pharoh Neco, and fell in the battle of Megiddo early in 609 BCE. His son Jehoahaz was put on the throne for only a few months, and then Jehoiakim took over... His first year still being in 609 BCE, 3 months after his father's death. That makes Jehoakim's 2nd year 608 BCE and his 3rd year 607 BCE. So, 70 years from when Daniel was taken to when Daniel saw that the 70 years had expired, 607-537. The only challenge is the first two sieges (in 607 and 598 BCE) weren't a complete destruction. Life went on in Israel (see the book of Ezekiel, even the King Jehoiachin was captive, yet rather than the priests calling for repentance and submission to God, the Levites were committing idolatry in the temple. The temple and city weren't completely destroyed until the 11th year of Zedekiah. So, some could point out that the city was still populated and we can presume farming was still going on even for the first 20 years of the exile. Now, when the people returned in 537, the temple wasn't completed the same year. It wouldn't be until about 517 when that would happen (conveniently 70 years after the Temple's destruction), but the 70 years that the temple was pulled down (587-517) lags 20 years behind the 70 years of captivity (607-537).
❤ Wonderful explanation. The law of the God is pure as silver that purified seven times .What happened to Israelites then may happen to any faithful today l. Let us obey the commandment, the precepts , the ordinances , the law, the and degrees of God with fear and tremblings. -Amen.
Great explanation of 70 years....but thank God it is NOT the end.... Our God restores HIS people after discipline and protects the SEED. Is it the Ramnent Theology?

Wow learning something from babylonia in captivity❤❤❤❤❤
I cant understand how a community with this much pain can do the same atrocities to other community.
They are the people ezekiel talked about. They are the dry bones brought back to life but they still have hearts of stone
They are defending themselves from the people that want to annihilate them, because the evil forces want to destroy God's people.

How does the yr starts in fall when the yr starts in the spring
They weren’t in exile for 70 years. The 70 years are a period of Babylonian dominance as a world power from 609 BCE- 539 BCE
They were in captivity! God warned them this would happen if they didn’t stop their abominations!
After all everything is sabbath 😮😮😮
and here we are again.

The exile was NOT 70 years long. The Bible does not say this.
The Bible says so, you're only questioning the Word of God.
