One small rules correction: during an involuntary blip conversion, the Marine player chooses the square(s) into which the Genestealer models will be placed, but the Genestealer player always chooses the facing of the placed models.
Another mistake was made with line of sight (it's hard to explain, but she should look up the line of sight rules again to see how it works). She should have had an additional shot on overwatch in one turn. I also saw her failing to utilize diagonal moves around corners with blips and genestealers, making the blips slower than they needed to be, which isn't against the rules, but it looked like she didn't know that you could move diagonally around a corner.
It's good to know those Genestealer's mother taught them to always close the door begins them when they leave a room. After all, she's not paying to heat Space!
That was one of the best battle reports I've ever watched! The lighting and the music really helped to create a sense of tension and the quick, to the point play by play was perfect for keeping the pace up. This really makes me want to buy Space Hulk.

@@witchdocendugu I think Space Hulk doesn't change that much between editions, not sure about this detail though. Random notes. Memo-notes for GAME: 1) There's a special tile for the "step" to get off the torpedo. It adds an extra cost of 1 action point for each space marine to get off their torpedo. Memo-notes for myself as SPACE MARINE: 1) remember to use the free shot associated to every move/turn. Destroy doors when possible. 2) You can move to the forward-diagonal square for the same cost (1 action point) as a forward movement. 3) Best case scenario, you manage to position your canon-dude facing north in the north room, in overwatch, covering a bottleneck to 2 GS reinforcement entries, while 2 overwatch dudes cover the sides, while the rest clean up the board from stray-GS. Work towards that clear goal. Memo-notes for myself as GENESTEALER: 1) you can move in diagonals to close in the distance as a blip. 2) Consider revealing your blips to avoid being positionned by the Space Marine on his terms. 3) Don't overstack the blips if you want to avoid loosing a GS out of a 3-GS-blip when revealled. 4) you can close the distance between your GS-blip and the Space marine by "one step surprise step" by revealing your triple-blips before moving each of the GS born from that blip. 5) don't leave multiple blips in a room that you know can be flamme-grilled in the next turn. Maybe leave one "cheap" blip to get the flamer-dude to spend all his flame-ammo (known as his "flammo“). Memo-notes specific to this mission as Space marine (BEACHHEAD MISSION #1): 1) The 1st turns are important. SM should Rush Forward, Open doors, flame a room or two before the GS can do anything about it and wake up properly (and get their 6AP). 2) The North-Central-Room is the "hard-room" to conquer for the SM in this mission. 3) Recognize when you can't win the mission any more, and when your best shot is getting a DRAW, then work towards it. 4) GS can only win if SM makes mistakes. Even with quite a lot of bad luck, SM should win everytime if given enough time to think.
For both Marines and Genestealers indeed. And would've been one less Overwatch Shot on Genestealers that come into line of sight around a corner diagonally. And Genestealers can move Out of Line of Sight and thus 'Dodging' one Overwatch Shot while moving diagonally across any Junction and/or Intersection towards a Marine.
i think it'd help if you had an overhead view of the table, maybe in the bottom right corner? that way it'd be a lot easier to keep track of where everyone is and the overall progression of the game :) great video, looking forward to the other missions!
Subscribed on the strength of this vid! Have had Space Hulk for a while and now want to start playing, video reports really help to confirm that i've understood how to play etc
Excellent painting on the minis, i remember the original version put a time limit on the marine player's turn, something like a minute to decide. Down to 30 seconds if you lost your sergeant. Really captured the whole "Game over man, game over!" feel from Aliens.
Thanks, we put a lot of work into them! The current version of the game does come with a timer, but the nature of filming a battle report just slows the whole thing down so it wouldn't be fair to constrain the player to a time limit. Also, I do have the next mission on the editing timeline so it should be out soon!
Great models! Great video! Also the genestealer player always gets to chose the facing of models when a blip is overturned regardless of who turned it 👍
One of the best board games ever made. The space marines have it a little to easy now. Thanks for the bat rep. You can move forward diagonally forward and backwards. Just a tip when playing :)
I haven't ever played Space Hulk, but it seems like a really fun way to play would be DnD styles with the DM being the one running Genestealers and players being the Squad. Each person is a squad member (or you could do something like 2 squads where each player controls a squad) and the command points/resources are shared between them while play otherwise progresses normally.
Dude, you just reinvented Space Crusade. A wonderful game very similar to Space Hulk, but more oriented for kids. I play Space Hulk with my friends and Space Crusade with my kids.
I've heard that this is how people play a "multiplayer" version of this game (or when they have more than two players); some even have the Terminator players take their turn at the same time with the 3-min time limit.
Nicely painted, I got the last copy in Europe I'm sure Feb 2017 in Manchester as GW was all out !! I'm not even going to say what I paid on ebay for the Final Fantasy Flight Death Angel variant of this game and expansions.
30:34 well done. This is text-book example of how jams and spending CP for unjamming works. I've seen many people get it wrong, but not you. 1) GS moves (1st). SM has line of sight on landing square of GS, and therefore has the option to use his overwatch ability (version 4 of space hulk). 2) SM choses to use overwatch. (If he had multiple space marines with vision on landing square of GS, he would have to specify in advance which Space Marines are going to fire an overwatch shot - too few and he might not kill the GS, too many and he might unnecessarily jam a Space Marine). 3) SM throws his overwatch dice and gets doubles -> he jams. He Flips the jam token upwards besides his miniature. 4) GS moves again (2nd time). SM is jammed and cannot shot despite having line of sight on landing square. But because he has line of sight on landing square, he can spend a CP any way he sees fit (on any space marine, by the way, doesn't have to be the one with line of sight on the GS landing square)- to unjam, for example (how convenient). 5) SM choses to spend that CP to unajm. He is now in overwatch again. But he cannot shoot. yet. 6) GS moves again (3rd time): again, triggering overwatch from SM, who choses to overwatch-shoot the GS, hoping to not jam this time around. -> moral? often, when GS moves and SM jams, the GS can close the distance by 2 squares without being shot at. Some people mistakenly think Space Marines can sequentially unjam and shoot in the same GS action. That's erroneous. When jammed, you are not considered in overwatch. Seeing a GS move while jammed doesn't trigger your overwatch rights, as you have none while jammed. You have to see the GS move while in overwatch to trigger your free overwatch shot. Long ramble, but i wish someone had explained it like this to me a long time ago. Can't post a potato picture on youtube. Sorry.

Love these videos, Thanks to you i have convinced my wife that wargames are not just for nerdy men lol, and the way you explain the rules made it easier for her to learn before our game
Hi Miranda & Dilan! I am so happy to see Space Hulk video (they are so few, and lacking in production and accuracy of rules). Your is the BEST yet and one can tell that it was made with great deal of effort and planing - i appreciate the quality you have produced - great job! Also i like to compliment on fully painted miniatures, and that you tell characters names! Please endure and bring us another mission as soon as you can - cause many people say that they will make it into series - and than they don't :( Lastly i will like to contribute with few minor mechanical details that i picked up, which can improve your gameplay: 1- Brother Valencio can automaticly destroy doors (whith Chainfist) in close assault 2- Genestealers (and blips) can move diagonally in corners skipping one sqare 3- Genestealer player is the one who chooses facing regardless of involuntary conversion Final note is that next mission (2) "Suicide mission", was filmed many times already - being 1st. in 2009. edition of the game. Best regards, Željko
Thank you Željko, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate the game tips you, and several others, have pointed out. I will definitely try to remember them for the next scenario. I do plan to eventually shoot a video for each of the 16 missions in the book. All of the battle reports I produce take a lot of work and time to create, so it will probably just take quite a while to finish out the series.
weird, I'm pretty certain the SM player is the one to choose facing on involuntary conversions. The 2 other tips are correct though. Chad Valencio's entire goal is to destroy doors, with his freaking chainfist. That almost makes him a standout character xD
This was a lot of fun to watch! Not having any experience with the board game myself, I felt you did a good job of explaining what was happening on the board in such a way that it was pretty easy to follow along. As a fan of your Warmachine tabletop reports, that's what I've come to expect from your videos, along with the professional commentary without background sound from the game/players themselves. All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing more from this game (and hopefully Warmachine, too)!
May say that you forgot about diagonal movements. Terminator may move for one diagonal forward and backward with same cost as for straight movement. That would help terminators many times
Great Video, thanks. You might want to review a couple 4th edition rules areas: Page 12, The movement pictures. You can move models and blips diagonally forward unless BOTH corners are blocked. Page 17, Revealed Blips, second paragraph. The Genestealer player chooses facing regardless of who revealed the Blip Page 19, Shooting at Doors. The Sustained Fire bonus also applies to shooting at doors. Love the format, great job. Peace
Such an athmospheric game. And top quality of the video itself. Its a pity that almost no possibility to get a new box, especially in my country. Well, I hope we will see a new version.
Great video. Excellent production value. The narrative is especially well done. I feel like I have a good understanding of thevrules after watching. Thank you for posting. 😁
A good informative and clear battle report, but I would have liked more personality showing through... like "This turn I massacre his filthy four armed monstrosities. Look at that roll!" or "This round I'm going to disembowel brother Peach and paint the walls with his entrails, before shoving the dice up my opponents nose." although the commentary improved towards the end. Could have used some commentary from the alien player as well.
It always felt dumb that A. Deathwatch are xeno killers and do fine without terminator armor, and B. Other marines get attacked by gene stealers and go down like they’re wearing carapace. If it’s not working you might as well be comfortable! The game seemed slow and then all hell descended in Aliens movie fashion. I enjoyed the narration. Some standard table top would be fun to watch. Thank you for sharing.
The terminators are very aggressive about taking ground, and take a lot of risk doing so. Space Hulk to me is always a game where you're forced to be considerate of every single terminator loss. The xenos can always pile on more models, and killing one terminator is usually worth a few blips. A lot of terminator deaths in here are due to weird choices about sacrificing them and leaving them in the open. Overwatch is dang powerful, and leaving a terminator on it is often better than using those AP for two shots. Later expansions and fan material added hybrids with ranged weapons. Fans made lists for using orks, imperial guard, eldar and such in Space Hulk. Imperial guard/navy armsmen only have lasguns but can pack four models facing forward instead of a single terminator. They also don't turn like beached whales like terminators do.
Excited to see this one! I always feel on the fringe when y'all are talking about Warmachine and Horde's things, but it's still interesting. We got a super nice rulebook at Adepticon this year. This was a great video, loving that servo skull haha. Everytime you said "But this shot misses too near the end there it was like, OHHHH NOOOO it's going to get hiiiiiim hahahaha.

The greatest enemy of space marine terminators is, in fact, doors.
😉 ...except when you're playing Space Crusade on an Amiga - doors are then the most powerful weapon in the Imperium!
It's good to know those Genestealer's mother taught them to always close the door begins them when they leave a room. After all, she's not paying to heat Space!
Closing doors limits the future overwatch potential of marines. Marines have line of sight range on most of their weapons.
I wanna see an indie movie, called "The Door", starring brother Dano, its about struggle and determination
It could be the highly anticipated prequel to "The Room".

Please endure and bring us another mission as soon as you can - cause many people say that they will make it into series - and than they don't :(
Lastly i will like to contribute with few minor mechanical details that i picked up, which can improve your gameplay:
1- Brother Valencio can automaticly destroy doors (whith Chainfist) in close assault
2- Genestealers (and blips) can move diagonally in corners skipping one sqare
3- Genestealer player is the one who chooses facing regardless of involuntary conversion
Final note is that next mission (2) "Suicide mission", was filmed many times already - being 1st. in 2009. edition of the game.
That almost makes him a standout character xD
this is really well-edited! I wouldn't've minded a full-board view to go along with the closeups, but still, excellent.
I was hoping to get more wide shots in this one. Next one will be better =)
Brother Noctus was an absolute legend. He will be missed.
Best Space Hulk war-riport(s) on youtube.
May say that you forgot about diagonal movements. Terminator may move for one diagonal forward and backward with same cost as for straight movement. That would help terminators many times
Great Video, thanks. You might want to review a couple 4th edition rules areas:
Page 12, The movement pictures. You can move models and blips diagonally forward unless BOTH corners are blocked.
Page 17, Revealed Blips, second paragraph. The Genestealer player chooses facing regardless of who revealed the Blip
Page 19, Shooting at Doors. The Sustained Fire bonus also applies to shooting at doors.
Love the format, great job.
Peace
Thought it was kinda weird that so many genestealers were staring at walls in the critical moment...
Such an athmospheric game. And top quality of the video itself. Its a pity that almost no possibility to get a new box, especially in my country. Well, I hope we will see a new version.
The new Warhammer trailer is really Space Hulkish... I really hope for a new edition. And I can have this game in my collection.
Excellent format! Smooth and engaging! Subscribed!
Excellent battle report!
Yay ! Nice too se more content from you Miranda !
Cool, really hope to see more of this.
That was thrilling :D
Wow, first video I saw of your stuff, high quality work there. Great! Also the miniatures look amazing.
Great video. But when the marine player reveals a blip he decides the PLACING of each genestealer. The genestealer player always decides facing.
My son says that the floating skull should have a mustache. I say you get the door killer award.
Loved the music. It seemed to get faster when the Genestealers were swarming Lorenzo.
That servo skull is unsettling. I like it.
I love Space Hulk, it's such a fun atmospheric game. I know some gamers are turned off by the randomness, but I personally love throwing dice.
As always your videos are awesome. Keep up the good work.
I'm new to your channel but really enjoyed seeing this play of the game. Please consider doing more Warhammer board games, very enjoyable!
Tempted to try this now....
Looked like fun! Thanks guys!
Purge the doors, Burn the blips.
That Servoskull is the most adorable thing. Ave Imperator and ave Omnissiah!
Space Hulk is such an awesome game.
