Main thing to note - this should have gone up yesterday - this game is out on OCT 9th store.steampowered.com/app/492230/Space_Hulk_Tactics/ If I can - I will get out the 2nd ep later today just having a look at the Skirmish missions
From playing the original Space Hulk from the 80's....Always....Always...overwatch. I don't care if there is nothing on Auspex within 50 klick's. You overwatch. Also remember your Heavy flamed has very limited Ammo. Keep him in the middle and you Marines around him during overwatch. Kill zones are your bestest friend, move your Marine into the T-junction where you can cover 3 of the corridors and overwatch. You can watch the carnage.
That back stepping while using the tab to fire at potential enemies after a move, is genius and also something i NEVER would've known to use without you.
having now played this game for myself i can confirm, without a doubt, that having to use action points to turn around is the worst thing in this game bar non
Very similar to how Mechanicus plays. Action points instead of cognition points, And the characters have to be moved into optimal positions in order to attack and be used effectively. Position is everything. I love games like that.
Would love to see a full play through of both if you enjoy making the content LT! Long time creeper and just wanted to say Thanks for all the entertainment!
Regarding your point about "How could he miss? It's right in front of him." You have to remember what you have in games like this (Xcom or Fallout) or table top versions of Space Hulk (Necromunda, Kill Team etc) are snap shots of "real time". The Stealer/Terminator hasn't walked up to each other and stood there for a few seconds, winding up for shooting or Melee combat.
I love this game got it on PS4 but I seem to be the only person that ever plays it so it's nice to see a vid about it :) *edit* just realised this is a year old :(
I bought the game last week, a few patches into it, so any teething issues on launch i appear to have avoided. I'm really enjoying it, its an excellent version of Space Hulk. The best digital form of it.
It seems like they used the standard board games rules, save for the Command Points that the Space Marines draw each rounds. These have been supplanted with the Card System which does seem to offer a few interesting choices over the old, here have a few global Action Points system.
Mhmm, I wonder if that's not to discourage the more casual crowd, but I've a feeling there's just not enough EMPRAH! and overall 40k lingo in the briefings and dialogue. Feels a little weak.
This seems like a piece of cake. That Last Space Hulk game I played was Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels on the 3DO that came out in 1995 (1996 on Playstation and PC) and that was all real time.
@Jimbo Spike I too well remember the old Space Hulk VoBA title .... maybe better than you do .... Since i remember it had a action point accumulation system that allowed you to freeze/suspend time once you had built up enough points via the realtime mode. I also recall unlimited ammo and very rare weapons jamming mechanics. It was an interesting halfway between a Table top conversion and full action game, since it retained elements of both, but seems GM have decided to push a more TT orientated strategy since then, maybe because VoBA was a little one dimensional. I be stunned if this game wasn't significantly more challenging than VoBA, since every singe space hulk since VoBA has be a much harder challenge.Remember this is the 2nd tutorial mission IRC .........
The Blood Angels Captain doesn't like him either. But that is not surprising, considering that the Blood Angels are always wary of Inquisitors nosing around in their area due to their..... special conditions.
Its just I bet its possible to be inquisitor and not be an asshole, he could told captain exactly same thing but differently, w\o creating conflict from the beginning. Now this Inquisitor looks less trustworthy that genestealers who tired to kill Angels :)
Im maby wrong... But I think you could have interacted with the Ultra Marine corpses... For one action point. Think you missed good loot 😊🤘🏻 But, can be wrong...
This game looks a lot better than Ascension. I really liked the game, but never got too far. Found the gameplay a little clunky and frustrating at times. This seems promising though. I’ll check it out after I’m done with Dawn of War and Space Marine.
I couldn't beat this mission, which was driving me nuts, but I know what did I wrong now. This is 40K. I need to let some of the guys die, ha ha. I kept pairing them up with overwatch trying to make sure nobody died. I need to get more grim, less compassionate about human life lol.
Any chances of there being more playable factions getting added sometime down the road? I'd love to be able to play as orks or chaos and customize my squad just like the terminators and nids. I think orks could play similarly to the nids and chaos space marines would be similar to the terminators. Hell an ork campaign would be fucking brilliant for this game! Please let there be orks and chaos! The more factions the better
This game along with Deathwing keeps crashing on my PS4 Pro. No problem with Warhammer Inquisitor though which is also a far superior game albeit different. Both games crashing come from the same developer Cyanide Studio.
I really enjoy your 40k lore videos and I think this game would be awesome to watch since you know the lore so well. Did you ever like the Dawn of war series?? how come you don’t play it on your channel?? Or do you play it on twitch??
Will be nice play a fps in warhummer 40k universe. Being a Space Marine. Btw nice game didn't knew it I will try to find it, thanks for it. Nice video though.
I stand with you, Brother Blade. AGAIN with these damned Blood Angels. Also, those are mighty words coming from Lion El'Johnson. Any time you want to wake from your apparently eternal slumber to earn your keep, send us a vox. Or are you waiting for the Salamanders to finish all the hard work first...?
Even though I'm not a massive lore fan. I bought the game as I did deathwing and the 2014 Space Hulk before it (and the Amiga & PC game from 1994). What I don't like about this game so far is: 1. The Genestealers can appear out of any point in the halls so whats the point of having marked Genestealer spawn points? It make course plotting impossible from a strategic point of view. 2. When a Genestealer is shot at they seem to dodge the shot at least 50% of the time and get in close where they win hand to hand attacks most of the time (in my last game one Genestealer killed three of my space marines in a row in the same move). 3. I hate the portals. I want to see the layout of a map and work out a strategy but with portals everything gets so convoluted. 4. The swapper tiles are stupid. They are the kind of thing that hard core players think up when they get bored with the basic gameplay. 5. Not sure why the fire tiles exist. Genestealers seem to be able to traverse them most of the time. 6. Going through the first campaign it seems that as I don't care about the story and just want to do the maps, I take ever fight and so far I've been given the same two missions about four times each. 7. The game seems way too random/OP with the Genestealers tearing through the Space marine squads too easily. I don't mind if they have an advantage up close as that is their design but they either endure being shot or dodge too often. What's the point of having a badass space marine with badass weapons if they are so ineffectual?
sounds like its a faithful adaption of the Boardgame. A shot from a space marine has a 50% chance of killing a genestealer......so the best bet is to shoot in overwatch as far back as possible...if you get 6 shots then the odds of a hit are lot better. I almost never shoot on my turn when playing the actual boardgame. on a hulk the odds are definitely in the genestealers favor.
So weird... when you expect Luetin's voice when the narration starts, but then there's a totally different voice. I know, copyright rules etc, but I would have preferred your voice over Luetin (you could take that as a compliment).
if a nid one shots your termi why even use termi's? biggest flaw in space hulk imo could just use scout armor .. its not like it would matter and at least you wont be wasting ancient hard to make and very rare terminator armor
Yeah I have to say, I wish there's be more spotlight for the other Legions, almost ANY other Legions. Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Dark Angels, Wolves of Fenrir, just name ones that are at the top of my head.
The game looks good, but I wish they had spent more time with the lore. I don't think it makes much sense for the Astartes to intend to destroy a space hulk full of archaeotech, especially through a boarding action. Furthermore, I don't see why the Ultramarines would have abandoned their sacred Terminator armour and the precious geneseed, and there was no justification at all for the Blood Angels here to just leave the invaluable Ultramarines Terminator armour behind. I also hope the inquisitor doesn't turn out to be an evil Chaos agent, since that's such a cliche.
Not sure if he is bad but pretty much both the tech priest and the inquisitor sounded as though they had been told to play the most evil fucker ever. That said the tech priest may just have sounded so bad since they vent with the WW2 gas mask filter. One would think the tech priest had a better solution at hand for comms.
a) why did they not include the ability to modify the appearance of the Campaign chapter? b) the Progression System doesn't look very motivating (Ascension did it alot better, rpg Elements) c) the first 2 pc games did all the bolter-type firing animations and Sounds alot better: Shooting the bolters, overwatch, moving fire everything looked and sounded alot better tbh. i cannot imagine the game will be entertaining for Long, Looks just like Relics of War: nice ideas, but probably no longlivetiy.
Hell yeah brother ! My pc is shot! And I have no wish to fix it... also the wife stole all the good parts for her comp so... anyone have a recommendation on a game like these for iPad . I downloaded a 40k game from the App Store and it sucks
You've likely found or played it by now, but Dawn of War 1 is INCREDIBLY cheap to run on your PC. I play on a work laptop made in 2008 that struggles to run most games with decent graphics, yet DOW1 runs smoothly up untill major shit starts going down. Dawn of war 2 also runs fairly good at low settings as well They're both RTS games though, and they both use arrow keys as the method of camera control so it's weird to control at first. With Dawn of war 2, you can rebind keys by going into it's files and altering them, which is a bit obscure.
Hey, i have an idea, lets make a great strategy game in the 40k universe. That would be awesome. But because only genestealers are fucking boring, we don`t do space hulk and call it dawn of war..... ;/! Why are there so few good 40k games ;/!
The voice acting is way to over the top for my taste. Honestly the only Warhammer game with stellar voice acting is the Space Marine game. Then again Mark Strong (and for that matter Richard Hawley and Christine Roberts as well) is probably a whole not level of voice acting compared to the people they brought in for this game. That said the main reason why they sound so much better in my opinion is because they sound like normal soldiers in a shitty situation and not your run of the mill caricature of a rugged soldiers.
Main thing to note - this should have gone up yesterday - this game is out on OCT 9th store.steampowered.com/app/492230/Space_Hulk_Tactics/

And I do apologise on the audio levels, its not too bad but not where I wanted it to be, will fix it all in future episodes from ep 2 onward.
That back stepping while using the tab to fire at potential enemies after a move, is genius and also something i NEVER would've known to use without you.
having now played this game for myself i can confirm, without a doubt, that having to use action points to turn around is the worst thing in this game bar non
That’s Space Hulk, it’s to represent how cumbersome the Terminators are. Genestealers don’t need to spend an action point to turn the first time.
A single squad of Blood Angels Terminators vs an entire space hulk full of genestealers? Now that's Ballsy lol
Yeah, that Space Hulk has some stones.... xD
Very similar to how Mechanicus plays. Action points instead of cognition points, And the characters have to be moved into optimal positions in order to attack and be used effectively. Position is everything. I love games like that.
mechanicus is way easier , the characters dont die with one hit, this is way harder imho
Space hulk rule of thumb, you actually only have 2 AP as you must overwatch on every move after the first.
The first person mode is quite a nice feature.
So far my favorite Warhammer 40k game is Inquisitor.
Still haven’t found that amazing 40k game....the games are always good, but not great.
Imo this is much better than Iquisitor
Of all the ones you could have chosen... why THAT one?
It's sad hearing you say that as inquisitor is a trash tier grind fuelled cash grab.
Would love to see a full play through of both if you enjoy making the content LT! Long time creeper and just wanted to say Thanks for all the entertainment!
As ever, a thumbs up is given b4 I even begin to watch one of LT's lore uploads. I know it'll be perfect.
Not even a lore video tho :p
Just watching the start of the video.. the main menu. I just realized that I really want a Servo-skull.
They're bloody adorable!
You should see the Commisar one from Inquisitor. I named him "J.K." (Simmons, not Rowling.) He even has the cigar. xD
Regarding your point about "How could he miss? It's right in front of him." I already dont like this Inquisitor guy...
Haarba1 They seem to be untrustworthy in the few games I’ve played. I’m very wary of this one.

In the fluff it's hit home hard how powerful the space marine is. It doesn't get translated into games very well
In the Lore some hulks have been cleared with 50 terminators only losing a couple and killing thousands of Genesteelers, Orks or Chaos denizens.
