I'm a FREAK, I love the word FREAK. And besides, stop trying to get people to not use that word, this is our proud descriptor, you freak.

Joseph Merrick what a kindred spirt he was such an intelligent man but to be afflicted with such a disability and treated so badly for those many years. It was a beautiful day when he was sponsored as we say by the hospital and given the life he deserved with enrichment by his Dr friend who saw who he really was,a gentle and kind man. Josephs story touched my heart ,lm so glad that most of humanity now sees that disease for what it is and don't persecute the afflicted instead show compassion and care .

I'm finding your hodgepodge of clips from different movies and such very confusing. I've learned that my kids, not being interested in the history of film, don't realize that, for instance, none of these clips of little persons with the Marx Brothers or in Freaks are actually of Tom Thumb because he didn't live long enough for moving pictures. And you are showing several pictures of the Doll Family, little persons who were performers in their own right, with no credit to them in the Tom Thumb section. In between all this are some news clips, etc., which are accurate and portray the correct people. This gets sloppy and misleading.

I find nothing but admiration for these unique people who found fame and fortune simply by being proud to be "different." I am disgusted by some of the handlers. Exploiting them as freaks instead of celebrating their uniqueness and essentially "owning" them. There nicknames were often insulting to these gentle folks.
Many sideshow performers did go on to handle their own affairs and had a good quality of family life in a strong loving community. Some were well educated and welcomed worldwide as celebrities. Mostly these special people just used their appearance to attract crouds where the audiences would learn of their congenital personalities and talents.
Acceptance of differences is what we strive for today. Many of the folks seem like they are just wonderful people, valued for who they are. Nothing shameful in being different and capitalizing on it in my mind!

4:45 I was an acquaintance of a young man two years older than I who had only one finger on each hand and only one toe on each foot. His fingers were so strong that he could accidentally break your fingers and often did break other peoples fingers. He often said it was an accident and nothing would happen to him but after several years of others broken fingers he would have to be arrested on battery charges. I don't remember his name but he live in the county around Hot Springs, Arkansas. All the kids were afraid of him because he broke several kids fingers and pinched a plug out of your Hyde!!!!

I don't understand using all the "filler" photos, clips, & scenes from things that are totally unrelated. Using the child from the movie Wonder while talking about John Merrick, the elephant man?? That's not right.

TY. I enjoyed your words. Your Explanations are very understandable. I'm not a Christian but I try to follow the 10 Commandments and Morals my Parents taught me. My Mom and Maternal Grandmother were very Faithful Evangelist Christians . They'd be appalled of the MAGA Cult Christians Beliefs and Actions. The Hypocritical and Blasphemous.

Ringling Bros.?????? That's Ringling BROTHERS. Was Gen. Tom Thumb born in 1838 or 1938 like it is written.
So, was the movie "Jo-Jo The Dog-faced Boy", starring Annette Funicello a documentary?
