      Haha, right? Because otherwise what am I going to do with a huge ball of kitchen twine?

    Watched it! Looks great. Good vids man!! Gonna try the chicken on my Q1400. Yes electric Q here!

      Very cool! I should try to get my hands one - even if it's just borrowing one - for the channel! Let me know how it turns out!

    I'll have to try it on my weber q1200

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely give it a try! You'll probably have to use foil/rack or the Weber convection tray/rack/set. If you use a regular pan like I did it might be too big to close on the Baby Q. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching!

    Expertly done and in full control of the cook throughout. It must have tasted really nice.

      Thank you for watching Mark. I wish the glaze thickened up a little bit more, but it was still a very nice holiday meal.

    Very well done on the content of this channel! I just bought an Airstream Caravel, so a Weber Q1200 seemed like a perfect addition. Love everything about what you’ve put together, and wish you well! Back to binging your channel!

      I’m jealous! I will admit there was a pretty lengthy period in 2020 where I was really itching to figure out how to get an Airstream. Now I just live vicariously through all the VanLifers and TH-camrs

    Thanks for this demo. We made duck for 4 last year and it was so popular we are doing it again this year. The family prefers duck to turkey. We are hosting guests and I am making 3 ducks but I can't fit them all in the oven. This video is a big help, thanks!

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Duck is my favorite, and I don't make it nearly enough. Haha yup, with 3 ducks, you'll need a grill (or two) for that extra real estate!

    Hi
    I'm a fan ❤
    Wanted to ask.. weber recommends not using a baking tray for grilling meats as the condensate ( of the rendered fluids) drips down the sides of the lid.
    They specify that one must use a perforated aluminum foil for indirect cooking.
    Did this happen with you ( condensate drippingdown the sides of the lid)?

    Well done video. Great details & I look forward to making it like this. Q: How come you don't sear it on high for just a few minutes at the end?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting! No reason other than we were hungry and didn't think to do that! A quick sear at the end would be great to add a little flavor and texture!

    I love this preparation, Jerry - and I never would have thought of smoking a duck on a Weber Q! I've never scored a duck - I always just poke the skin with a fork all over. Do you find that scoring allows more fat to drip out without making it dry? Oh - and I'm going for a thigh!

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I've heard/read that you can just poke holes in the skin. I couldn't really tell the difference. I'm thinking scoring in a criss cross is more for show. Thanks for checking this video out!

    Ya i did a 12lb turkey this year in my weber q1200. It barely fit in there so i had to spitch cock it. But it worked came out amazing. Super juicy and definitely better then oven.

    Looks awesome only had duck once didnt find you got alot of meat on them

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah duck is great but like any other bird, you're right there's not a whole lot of meat on them - particularly duck because of all the fat I think. For four of us, I think there was only enough for one portion of leftovers.

    Is this roasting rack and pan giving results as good as the weber roasting rack and weber heat shield?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this rack and pan is just an ordinary oven set that I pulled out of my cupboard. It works just as well s the Weber rack and shield. To be honest, there is nothing special about the Weber branded rack and shield - an ordinary baking rack and even aluminum foil (which is what I normally use) works just as well! Thanks for watching!

    Is the salt and pepper mix 50/50?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's personal preference. 50-50 will do. In our household we go light on salt so our ratio might differ from your preference.

      Thanks for watching! Yeah duck is awesome, and the thighs are great. But the problem is there's really not a whole lot of meat on them, so be hungry but not too hungry!
