To be fair it's obviously directed towards a very specific audience (now whether you/I think these types of ppl shouldn't be recruited into the armed forces is another discussion) There are other US Army ads today that are still more hard core so I think it's a bit unfair to point out one ad and generalize. Another thing to consider is that there is a shortage of recruits (I could be wrong) so it's enviable that they'll start to market to try to appeal to other ppl. My husband was 17 when he joined the AZ National Guard. In his junior year, he didn't quit school; school quit him. His parents signed the papers to make him an emancipated minor so he could join on his own . That was in 1981. He got his GED and some college and retired in 2005.

Im okay with some people with a college degree coming into enlistment vs. Officer route. Truth you come out as a better product out the enlistment side into officer route. Mustangs are a better in so many ways. Being an officer straight out the gate is nice too but everyone is still going to look at you like a boot or bootenant. Which kinda sucks, tbh.
