I also find myself gripping the mouse really hard, especially when it's not a really good day for aiming and I keep losing my 1v1s etc so my aim gets progressively worse the harder I grip it. I read somewhere on reddit that to relax your grip, you should pick your mouse up with the least amount of strength needed to pick it up and then place it back on the mousepad and use that same amount of strength to grip it. Do it everytime you feel you're gripping your mouse too hard. It has helped me quite a bit.

im so glad i came across this video, lately ive been trying to improve my aim as im losing consistency in my games. I immediately applied that "egg" thinking strat and my aim has improved drastically already. GREAT VIDEO!!
I switched my primary fire button from left click over to the shift key on the keyboard. It works fine since I use full auto weapons on the finals. If you use a click toggle on right mouse button for ads, then there is no pressing down on mouse while aiming. This helps to keep the tension at zero. It works but it takes time to get used to keeping your aim steady without the tension.
One thing I found out personally was body temperature in general affects mine and my friends aim significantly. Mainly cause if our we are cold our muscles tense to try to stay warm and if too hot we fatigue too quickly, that being said generally keeping my hands on the warmer side allow my muscles to relax easier and in turn make my aim feel smoother, something like desk heaters or even a beanbag can make your aim more consistent but not better imo also nice video I'll so hyped to try the new advices you've given in the video😂

I get the concept. I used to use a G303 shroud edition as my main mouse and I had an aggressive claw grip. I could never make micro adjustments well in game. When I switched over to a GPX2, my grip style changed to a relaxed claw grip and now I can make micro adjustments and also can track way better than with the g303
this is a huge problem for me when aiming. and it feels impossible to break the habit. for me personally i always instinctively start gripping my mouse harder when i focus but the problem is i dont notice im doing that until i stop aiming
I’ve been experimenting with mouse grips and one thing that’s probably helped me was the type of mouse I was using. Prior to my current mouse I used the death adder v3. Pretty cheap but had decent features. Switched to a Corsair mouse cause my brother had it and I liked it but I couldn’t find his so I bought the iron mouse which made it hard to grip due to its design. I had to ease up by default just so it wouldn’t hurt my fingers. I think it’s an okay mouse to start with but not a keeper im already seeing ware on it and I haven’t even had it for half a year yet vs my death adder which has been with me for 2 years and is still going strong.
I have been trying to fix this problem for months at this point, I actually already moved over to space bar primary fire a while ago because of the force I was exerting. In general I have a lot of geralized anxiety and the adrenalin from a fps match seems to tighten my grip and forearm muscles over time regardless of my intentions going in. Between spacebar fire and low sens I have gotten better than average with my aim, but at this point I think I will try intermittently timed alerts to tell me to relax my muscles and see if that can help train myself to relax passively.
bro thank you so much, I was trying the exact opposite thing by grabbing my mouse as tight as possible so it feels more accurate in my mind but now aiming feels so smooth and my arm gets way less tired by grabbing it like a fragile egg. And of course more accurate. Thank youu

So the egg thing, similar to my dad teaching me golf, grip the club like it's a baby bird you're trying to keep warm without crushing.
I switched from a G502 to an Xtrfy MZ1 to an HTX Ace. Light mice are greater for aiming but it is also very important to stay flexible. Warming up your hands with stretches before your games can make a big difference and provide you with more control. Increasing tension slightly helps me when micro-adjusting because I use a knuckle-claw grip, but it's different for everyone. I noticed that I was whiffing significantly more after I stopped death gripping, however, this was just a temporary measure. After aim training for about a week or two, I started to develop fast aim that was much more precise on average. For any new aimers, I recommend trying a light mouse because heavier ones feel like they have somewhat of a skill ceiling. You can't go wrong with a light mouse.
This video could not have been more perfectly timed. I know I have too much tension because it’s been giving me issues in the tip of my thumb as well as my index finger. So much so that it hurts to play apex. Been looking for a fix, but there’s no videos besides this one that I could find
Looking forward to apply these tricks next time I play. I’ve improved my aiming mechanics gradually over the last 3 years but I have plateaued recently and can’t seem to reach that professional level.
Trying to reduce tension is not something some gamer came up with. Musicians and athletes have been using the concept since before video games. Check tutorials on piano if you want to learn practical techniques on reducing tension
I have been a life long console and mobile gamer.. and finally, about a month ago, I've upgraded to full blown PC gameplay and FPS. However I've ran into a issue that is.. More difficult to manage then I anticipated. Trying to learn keyboard movements with out constantly rebinding keys in games, as well as learning how to control recoil in full auto guns and make accurate micro adjustments. I'm not trying to be a pro, but I am trying to be good. Watching other people play, they control recoil as if there is none at all and it's baffling.
For anybody that's thrown a baseball/football: you 'snap' and throw more accurately when you're relaxed and loose. You cannot muscle a 100 mph pitch or 50 yard throw. Same applies here.
I've always had "calm aim" a carry over from wing chun where economy of motion is a major factor. The fastest path from a-b is usually best, I've wondered to my self if there is a point where you can be to calm?
The real question is how you're using an hsk pro without grip tape at least on the lmb. The small holes and slickness exactly where most people (including you) put your finger to click are so bad.
the egg thing worked the second you said it. most the video i was holding my mouse trying to figure out if i hold it too hard or not. as soon as you said the egg thing my fingers lightened up.
I had the same issue with my finger pressure down the Mouse1 button too hard and i simply switched my M1 with M2... now I shoot with right click and zoom with M1. Problem solved... turns out I have have nerve better control over my middle finger and I can click without force.
I will have to try fragile egg. I noticed my aiming with my mouse is much less shaky when my hand tension is low, so I’ve been telling myself “cat paws” while playing fps. I’ve noticed that when my cat attacks me, there’s no tension in his paws at all, hardly any force from the elbow and down, but his paws are deadly and don’t miss their mark 😂 I also use a glass mousepad with glass skates so that exacerbates the shaking. Lots of people say don’t do it, but it has helped me use less force pushing down on the mouse and has helped me calm my hand considerably. Been on that for about a year. I’m gonna try going back to ptfe soon. Before going glass on glass I was eating through ptfe skates in 2 weeks or less on the glass pad 😅
This is a great video and I know many people this would benefit. I personally use a lightweight mouse and a (mostly) fingertip grip, so I tend to hold it very lightly. I've actually had the opposite problem during aim training, where I get lazy and don't click the button hard enough to fire. In game, I keep it pretty loose, probably because of the AimLabs I've done. All of that is to say, I'm still quite mediocre in game. I just think my technique isn't necessarily my problem at this point, it's more my anxiety and mental game
as an actual example of what this can do for your aim just look at loud less aim he uses literally 0 tension and has extremely impressive micro flicks and smooth aim
Hey guys this info could be very useful yo those planning to change grips or use less tension like is recommended in this video. I believe OP made it sound too much like removing as much tension sas you can is always gonna help short of the minimum required to move your device around like you need. I dont believe this is accurate or what was intended to be communicated as such. For a little context before you consider trying what i recommend, ive been playing games on every platform my entire life. Im obsessed with peripherals, efficiency and trying/tinkering with any new or unfamiliar peripheral/methodology that comes across my desk. I also have a couple physical trainers/doctor friends with familiarity in the gaming/pro scene who i love to bounce thoughts and ideas off. TLDR: (aka less detailed rambles): I believe the overall goal here is to be as tense as is needed for the quickest responsive reaction you can have to a perceived threat as is needed. I believe your grip time will have a massive impact on all this so experiment as much as you can. (Just make sure to stay calm and relaxed, the mind needs to be comfy, empty, and ready for speed. The muscles are what will be needed to exert strength and speed reactively in a moments notice ofc.) You want to adjust for the level of stamina you will be needing, dont overdo/under-do posture here. You wanna avoid any stiffness or fatigue overall, similarly just relaxing can be the best thing to keep in mind (overall). When you feel comfortable but also ready for reacting super fast to stress and intensity you still may habit back to older thoughts/posture, remember this overall posture for your hands/arms/back etc and lock it in for everything. Work off this posture towards what you want. Relatively all you will need to do is have somewhat of a symmetrical layout between arms and then full range of your mouse' play area without moving your body/core. Ive gone so far as to creat a keyboard and keycap profile to minimize movements/shifting reaching for keys etc. Consider if you prefer having 360 degrees of motion in your play area or if you want more/less. I prefer one full rotation end to end or roughly 22cm of movement on avg. Would prefer more for shotguns and slightly less for sniping. Now try finding which exact muscles are being used reactively for aiming, do you have a wrist reset or is the resting position going to have any impact on the MS required before the game see your inputs and acts? Tense up just these muscles and work on keeping them isolated so as to not mess with the rest of your bodies posture or to have any impact on your thinking. A thought about your posture or a difference in something you do is considered an impact. Try experimenting with gum, music, and position/comfort levels overall and how it impacts your ability to balance priorities, thoughts, and emotions while playing your game. Extremely surface level conversations even with teammates can produce or enhance this effect of calmness/balance provided too. Now optimize everything with all that learned info and you should notice a very big difference, potentially more if you have adhd like me. "Details re-engaged": If you play a lot of osu you might find that tensing up the entire aim arm/muscles needed will have a massive impact on your reaction speeds and overall preparedness to react properly. Ive had my nerves measured in the past from back of neck to fingertip and was on avg 4x slower than what the avg is i should be getting. Something like 4ms instead of 1ms signals. As such i value any gains in reaction i can get and love to lean on heavy thinking/predicting to help overcompensate lol. A good example of how i spotted this was getting tested, partially because doctors testing reflexes would have to try 20 different things or give up trying to get my left to reflex. On thing i noted earlier was that I tend to prefer to play Osu(rhythm mouse/aiming game) at all without tensing up it also had an insane impact on my overall speed spinning my cursor in tiny circles around circles in osu. I wanted to build up muscle memory for my mouses play area as quickly as possible for destiny 2 and i wanted to simulate my aim especially in regards to being caught off guard or having to quickly react. The reason being i was performing significantly better on console in the same game and still do sometimes. For osu, ive since moved to using the keyboard and alternating my left index and ring like its paintball as the game becomes almost impossible to keep playing well via mouse and M1 only. I still keep my right arm tense while utilizing my moveable right arm wrest as a pivot with bearings in it. Similarly my arm and M1 both do the same, right click is constantly held/tense if not tense at a minimum 2hil3 playing. As A somewhat reliable metric for comparison before and after playing osu. I went from an avg K+A/D of barely breaking even with lots of assists in destiny to getrting lots of kills and an overall KA/D of 2.5:1 if not higher. So say 24 kills with around 4 or 5 deaths, i wasn't keeping track of exact assists manually as much as im still used to using K/D not KDA let alone KAD. But the game output KAD values just to make sure i mentioned that. This was all in roughly a 3 month time period with no changes to my regular setup/peripherals/sensitivity or anything. This was all while using my mouse on Osu with only M1 clicks via my index. I roughly played 40-60 odd mins per day before hopping on my shooter for the night nearly every day during this time period. Keep in mind ive been playing shooter relatively poorly but well enough to enjoy since i first picked up half life 2 when it first came out. I had played CS1.6 a few times with no clue what i was doing before all that and getting CSS. Ive got leagues better game-sense/muscle-memory on console with bungie style super aggressive aim assists or none at all if a given game provides that option and has bad assist otherwise. Finally ive also been playing without any level of "enhanced precision/aim acceleration" since say 2005 and if you give me something that has aim deceleration i cant turn off i just wont play your game lol. Sniper in games im looking at you especially. Inconsistent aim related setting are the devil! Just let me have my standard 22cm 360 rotation on all scope levels w 90 fov pls 😂
Considering this is such a big problem, I'm surprised that I actually don't do this, I hold my mouse rather lightly, as if its part of my hand itself, fits perfectly
I recently started keyboard and mouse. These videos help a lot, however im having problems moving left for some reason do you have any videos on how you should move the mouse around the pad.
you likely grip your mouse in a way that only the pinky touches the left apply a shit ton of tension and then have to balance that with only force from your pinky
I don't do this but my mousepad is couple years old and i never deepcleaned it bc it has RGB in it so my mouse doesn't wanna glide smoothly over the pad causing me to have jittery aim
I think part of the reason why shooting with left click is better in valorant is that you can pull your mouse on a spray with your finger. With some practice you can always adjust your initial 4 bullets (I think the first 4 is still controllable, not sure about the 5th shot) to hit almost the same spot, meaning 4 bullet burst will kill someone if you can hit it all. Depending on how you grip the mouse (probably not applicable to palm grip user) you can just drag the shot with your finger downward, though if I'm being honest a situation where you would burst all 4 bullet probably don't exist too much. Also I wonder is it better to have a heavy mouse / a light mouse? I really favor the heavy mouse since sometimes I found myself in a situation where I lose the gunfight because of a very stupid reason, that is somehow I lifted the back of the mouse on my spray. I deal with it by aiming mostly on my fingertips but it makes accidental grip like that so much troublesome
Aiming with finger tips definitely is helped by a light mouse. Your specific issue idrk id practice a bit more and experiment with a few more shapes as light mice are starting to diversify. As for the first comment, shooting with space is a way to feel a lower level of tension not a permanent solution. My editor did the settings change in val though it was meant for kvks and seemed to insignificant to change it where he went right to a scen right after
Not really. I would argue a higher sensitivity makes a player use more force since it's going to make it harder to keep the mouse in control otherwise.
I cant seem to break this habbit no matter what. Spent my entire life using a tight grip, its gotten me to top ranks but noticing im getting hand injuried now because of this grip, hopefully the egg comparison will help me.
HaiiI! :) I love your videos, you helped me alot! Can you give me recommendations on big mousepad for low sensitivity? I currently have a glorious 3XL or so, it has to be BIG
Actually, the egg example maybe inspired from a film called Shaolin Soccor, where the coach tells his student to juggle with the egg, without breaking it.
I press my left click with the force of angry 41 gorillas without noticing it and have broken every mouse I’ve used within 90 days. Just bought super light 2
That happens to me too it looks like I have the same mouse as him too. Wonder if it’s the shape, weight, sensor position etc that is creating the effect
As a fortnite player who switched to tac-fps, as soon as you mentioned pressure into the mouse and tensing muscles i knew this video would help. ive always struggled with shaky aim
I stopped the document system a while ago in favor of copying rA Unans and making notes in dms. Meaning that to see the notes you just gotta go to the end of the vod on the live channel.
im not sure if you answer but i just switched from a clothpad that had no glide and was muddy but overall easier to stop now on an artisan otsu feels like i have to re learn aiming
question - do you think increasing mouse dpi reduces or increases tension? like 800 compared to 1600. changing sens from 1.5 to 0.75 lets say. since at 1600 we pick up more dots per inch
@@dagger7938 if you optimize many things it adds up. I can easily tell the difference between base settings and the many optimizations I have done. I can tell the difference between 20 ping and 40 so ill take a 10 ms advantage by switching from 400 to 3200.(going from 800 to 3200 provides about 5ms less input delay)
okay that sounds interesting. I mean kinda makes sense that the more dpi you have the more frequent the response. What other things have you done to improve latency?☺@@georget.1023
Invest in a 703 or a gpro. I had a g5o2 felt to heavy had to squeeze really hard to move it. Then bought a gpro loved it then invested in a gprox when the magenta version came out

Awesome vid all of it specialy bucks guide genuine for aiming techs!💪🐐
Hii! I just wanted to say thanks for your videos, you've improved my aim a lot with your advice so thank you :))
This is cool , what is the small orange mouse sometimes in clips?
this immediately improved my tracking scores on aim labs
Trying to reduce tension is not something some gamer came up with. Musicians and athletes have been using the concept since before video games. Check tutorials on piano if you want to learn practical techniques on reducing tension
Oh I know my tension is bad sometimes I think my mouse is gonna break from slamming down on my left click to shoot 😢
If you are a fortnite player like me find a good sens and if it moves like fortnite divide by 1.5 and you will get a good slow sens
@struth or @optimum have a very good vid on tension as well.
the link of Buckshot in your description is broken. Can you update?
good to see you uploading again!
Every 3 weeks until 2024
@@WestProter hell ya, looking forward to it man. Been missing ur uploads
This is the issue im having and I picked up on it on my own. But I haven't been able to fully fix it. I'ma try some of your methods.
I just clicked on this video and in the first few seconds my issue was solved
i tense up so much i literally start shaking lmfao
i death grip too. I usually hit insane flicks but miss when it comes to micro adjustments.
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
I know I'm wrong but I really like to pretend that your mouse is normal sized and that you have absolutely GIGA big hands :)
The vest way is to think hold the mouse with the least amount of force necessary
LOL @ the guy left clicking with his boot.
My hands are too big to hold my mouse properly
Amazing video thank you
The real question is how you're using an hsk pro without grip tape at least on the lmb. The small holes and slickness exactly where most people (including you) put your finger to click are so bad.
ergo mice help your hand cover more surface on the mouse itself making aiming more stable for people with larger hands like me.
I've explained why this logic is flawed in more depth in previous videos. Unless you play fortnite, that's different.
the egg thing worked the second you said it. most the video i was holding my mouse trying to figure out if i hold it too hard or not. as soon as you said the egg thing my fingers lightened up.
I’ve noticed that when my cat attacks me, there’s no tension in his paws at all, hardly any force from the elbow and down, but his paws are deadly and don’t miss their mark 😂
I also use a glass mousepad with glass skates so that exacerbates the shaking. Lots of people say don’t do it, but it has helped me use less force pushing down on the mouse and has helped me calm my hand considerably. Been on that for about a year. I’m gonna try going back to ptfe soon. Before going glass on glass I was eating through ptfe skates in 2 weeks or less on the glass pad 😅
because of that i literally broke my g pro superlight scroll because i was squeezing and pressing hard lol now i don’t squeeze and it works wonders
i´m going crazy trying to find a mouse grip
Wouldn't it be crazy if someone like Razer made a mouse that could lower DPI based on how tight you grip the mouse?
u really help me thank you bro omg
My Skypad arrived intakt, I imagine it would survive shipping even in rough hands.
It does that was comedy.
Good Joke though :)
I claw grip hard as fuck and I think its to compensate for micro adjustments decided subconsciously so i don't over flick
Coming from a medical student, your physics/physiology/psychology explanations were awesome. New sub 👍🏼
Whenever you say muscles, I get PTSD of people saying muscle memory.
TLDR: (aka less detailed rambles):
I believe the overall goal here is to be as tense as is needed for the quickest responsive reaction you can have to a perceived threat as is needed.
I believe your grip time will have a massive impact on all this so experiment as much as you can.
(Just make sure to stay calm and relaxed, the mind needs to be comfy, empty, and ready for speed. The muscles are what will be needed to exert strength and speed reactively in a moments notice ofc.)
You want to adjust for the level of stamina you will be needing, dont overdo/under-do posture here.
"Details re-engaged":
If you play a lot of osu you might find that tensing up the entire aim arm/muscles needed will have a massive impact on your reaction speeds and overall preparedness to react properly.
These videos help a lot, however im having problems moving left for some reason do you have any videos on how you should move the mouse around the pad.
you likely grip your mouse in a way that only the pinky touches the left apply a shit ton of tension and then have to balance that with only force from your pinky
it help so much. Now i aim with my fingers. not claw
Seeing the mouse i used get destroyed kills me 💀
there is no working link on Bucks guide in ur description, pls give new?
I don't do this but my mousepad is couple years old and i never deepcleaned it bc it has RGB in it so my mouse doesn't wanna glide smoothly over the pad causing me to have jittery aim
Ty for the egg tipp
My editor did the settings change in val though it was meant for kvks and seemed to insignificant to change it where he went right to a scen right after
do u got any tips on using ads multipliers or staying 1:1 hipfire/ads?
It’s basically just a different sens and fov so don’t worry abt it
It's also depend on the sensitivity. The slower the sens the more forces u have to put on the mouse when controling it
Not really. I would argue a higher sensitivity makes a player use more force since it's going to make it harder to keep the mouse in control otherwise.
If I loosen my grip my arm starts to hurt so fast
I cant seem to break this habbit no matter what. Spent my entire life using a tight grip, its gotten me to top ranks but noticing im getting hand injuried now because of this grip, hopefully the egg comparison will help me.
HaiiI! :) I love your videos, you helped me alot!
Can you give me recommendations on big mousepad for low sensitivity? I currently have a glorious 3XL or so, it has to be BIG
That’s what I use
Okey! Thank you!
Actually, the egg example maybe inspired from a film called Shaolin Soccor, where the coach tells his student to juggle with the egg, without breaking it.
Interesting take.
Eggs are used for a way to imagine way before that.
the egg strat didn't work for me, i still tense a lot in game
When you feel yourself tensing relax
Try plugging an actual egg into your PC
I press my left click with the force of angry 41 gorillas without noticing it and have broken every mouse I’ve used within 90 days. Just bought super light 2
That happens to me too it looks like I have the same mouse as him too. Wonder if it’s the shape, weight, sensor position etc that is creating the effect
also where your mouse quality may be shown my g pro takes way less force to click over my razer viper
Question for mnk players when using wasd do you guys use your Pinky for cntrl and shift button on the left?
As a fortnite player who switched to tac-fps, as soon as you mentioned pressure into the mouse and tensing muscles i knew this video would help. ive always struggled with shaky aim
i cant get out of using 1 3 1 grip... and i reallly struggle with having my ring finger on the side of the mouse :P
West Proter is my gaming psychologist.
Yes
Amazing
nice i needed this video
that teeny mouse is insane lol
Who the hell holds their mouse like this????? 1:29
Coming from a music background, no I dont overly tense my mouse. (nvm I do, but I pay a huge attention not to)
when i press mouse button 1 my wrist and front forearm hover is that because tight grip too much tension ?
friend, how about I play with palm and arm in 360 degress, the question I have is if my fingers should touch the mousepad 100%
you can touch the pad with your fingers if you like
Now ik im screwed cuz this doesnt apply to me💀
What is that tiny mouse holy
um is link to his document still avaliable? dont see it in the info
Yeah same
I stopped the document system a while ago in favor of copying rA Unans and making notes in dms. Meaning that to see the notes you just gotta go to the end of the vod on the live channel.

im not sure if you answer but i just switched from a clothpad that had no glide and was muddy but overall easier to stop now on an artisan otsu feels like i have to re learn aiming
just practice a lil. it'll be a change for a bit then you'll be used to it. Probably want to focus on stopping power for a bit
question - do you think increasing mouse dpi reduces or increases tension? like 800 compared to 1600. changing sens from 1.5 to 0.75 lets say. since at 1600 we pick up more dots per inch
It will do nothing to anything
It decreases your input delay by a millisecond or two so 🤷♂️
@@georget.1023that doesn’t do shit lol ur not gonna notice it
@@dagger7938 if you optimize many things it adds up.
When plsying with g303 shroud mouse i have no choice but to hold it tightly
Invest in a 703 or a gpro. I had a g5o2 felt to heavy had to squeeze really hard to move it. Then bought a gpro loved it then invested in a gprox when the magenta version came out
