30 years as a palm gripper until I came across this video. Thanks for the great content, I've caught a few live sessions as well and found them very helpful. I don't aim train, tracking is so-so, but flicking at under 11" / 360 is so much fun and I'm hitting a lot more vertical flicks. Cheers!
Live sessions are all available on a public playlist, they're just unlisted formally bc I shut down channel memberships. I unlisted them as the day I made them all public I spammed the channel feed and lost 200 subs. But if you go to playlists you'll see them.
Really good vid. I agree heavily with your explanation of shakiness vs stability. However, I would add to your definition of stability, as I think the ability to comfortably lift and reset/re-center your mouse is the best sign of a stable grip. I had an issue with just this until fairly recently, where I was gripping too low on my mouse causing bad instability. In aim trainers, I could get away with this. But in Apex, since I'm constantly looking around and resetting my mouse, I just never had feeling of control and performed poorly. I fixed this by gripping further up on my mouse with my thumb more extended, and my pinky more curled which effectively pushes the mouse to the left into a more "locked-in" position against my palm (although, I am still able to freely move the mouse up and down in and out of contact with the palm). I think a good sign of an unstable grip is if one lifts the mouse by sort of only lifting one side of the mouse and dragging the opposite edge against the pad while reentering, it's something I used to do very recently. I think aim trainer mains are at highest risk of developing an unstable grip since you can sort of get away with it, since there is minimal re-centering.
I agree with this 100000%, I tried his Kovaaks playlist and found my natural mouse grip. However, the moment I hopped on a val death match my grip instantly changed back to a more stable grip. Everytime I tried to force my grip back into the natural grip I had for Kovaaks, I lacked stability and it messed up my ability to make quick turns, and sometimes ruins my accuracy from death gripping with a unstable grip to hold on to the mouse.
Never expected I would be a fingertip type grip. I always used a claw grip leaning fingertip but never even acknowledged fingertip cuz I thought it was done. I have aimlabs and the training I just did with the new grip feels great. Def subscribing
Slightly changed my grip (hybrid palm fingertip) to be more relaxed and allow more finger motion. First game of apex of the day dropped a 3k game. Subbed. You're the man
This is amazing! I can't thank you enough for your job! You've helped me to finally find a better grip that will suit me. It was so hard for me sometimes to hold my mouse but now I feel like it's part of me. Thank you so much!
Very good on point out that people need to stop using categories like palm, claw and fingertip and find the grip that works for them, as special and hybrid and unique it might be. Finding a grip that works is much more important than using "the specific grip the pros use" Same with dpi/cpi actually, there isn't the perfect mouse sens, some are more focused on precise aim, some more on fast turns, some are inbetween. Finding one that fits the own playstyle is more important than "what the pros use"
I feel like this video is probably one of the best videos covering grips. I agree with pretty much everything said. although, I think you should have mentioned mouse shapes and pivot points a little more since those contribute a lot to how your shape affects your aim. overall really solid video though!
Mouse shapes and pivot points could be a video on their own. I think you can get away without it, and perhaps be even better without thinking about them, and try to find the grip "instinctually". Only when that fails you should try to expand the knowledge.
The irony with this "fingertip grip vertical movement good" thing is that it's being advocated mostly by tac fps players where most aiming is horizontal. Microadjusting towards the head after a horizontal flick doesn't really need that much vertical motion. Even a relaxed claw can microadjust that much. Meanwhile, in games like Apex, the vertical finger range of motion is mostly only applicable when aiming at normal movement mid to long range targets, or when simply moving around the map. It's not viable for tracking things like an octane jump pad, horizon Q, or valkyrie passive especially at close range battles. Apex has high ttk so it's not uncommon to reach your fingers' maximum range of motion limit while tracking a vertically moving target, which feels weird and inconsistent since you'll have to use your shoulder anyway at that point.
If you’re going to max your fingers rom then you’d probably need to use your shoulder for that motion so based on your description and nothing else, apex finger motion would likely be reserved for longer ranges
Well I mean you cant really say tac fps games are mostly horizontal. The amount of time I've missed shots due to slight height difference is crazy. Also you aren't meant to only use your fingers to aim, they are more of a supplement to your shoulder and forearm movement, you just make the slight adjustments with your fingers. I recommend using an edpi somewhere around 200-400 for best results using your shoulder, forearm, and fingers to aim.
CS is basically a very extreme in terms of mouse. Very low sens for recoil compensation and precise aim, a rather slow and methodical gameplay, basically no big turns and most stuff happens on the same horizontal level. I'm not saying it's a bad game, more than 20 years prove that the formula works really well, but it also comes with very specific requirements. Mos games will either have faster movement, more vertical, reaction over prepositioning, or a combination of those.
The thing is you can't micro-adjust with a shoulder as well as you can with your fingers. That's why fingertip indeed proves better for verticality. However its only downside can be a decrease in stability.
as a person who got VT diamond with palm grip wanting to swap to fingertip doing the mouse grip scenarios - This is what i found helped the most incorporating the use of my fingers once you find your natural grip I really recommend jumping into B180T Voltaic Regen and bind your fire to your shift or spacebar and i just focusing on using your fingers to track the bouncing bots. as they regen quick youll need to stay on target but if youre trying to get out of palm grip i recommend this massively.
i recently stopped using a mm720 after my arm lost all its muscle memory that i had for aiming, i had to use a palm grip to feel comfortable and i felt weird, after getting a g305 it felt a lot better but i still felt like something was missing and normal fingertip wasnt the answer, this vid helped me because its so different than the usual valorant guides of "HERE IS 100% WAY TO GET BETTER IN-DEPTH GUIDE ON HOW TO GET BETTER" and its just a guy saying hit your shots and train or xyz pro player does this grip, this vid genuenly made me get all of my muscle memory back and remind myself dont use templates other people have made because its usually just copied from someone else so that people will get ego. If anyone is having a similar issue try to make a formula for yourself like what your arm does when you aim, for me i had to picture it as my arm just moving my hand so that my finger/wrist can do the precision aiming, and from then on it was just getting them to work together again.
i realised i was always a fingertip player this month and i was always transitioning onto claw and palm grips due to low sens addiction or just copying other pro grips. also my shakiness went away with this grip, funny how its fingertip grip thats making the shaky aim go away now i am at peace with my 0.36@800DPI with fingertip grip
This was really helpful, just subscribed! I just recently switched to fingertip grip and I'm liking it a lot but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on not using the side buttons? The mouse side buttons are difficult to use without messing up my aim but i find that game abilities that require you to hold the key down to use (such as grenades and stuns in CoD) are so much better suited for mouse side buttons since you don't have to compromise on movement by moving a finger from wasd. What do you suggest i should use for those types of keybinds or have you just learned to shift your fingers around the keyboard so you can still have 360 movement while holding down a key?
I'm pretty diverse with mice. I have a 300s, 600 and a 305 on the desk. I played MWO professionally with the 300 paired with a g13. Back then, being the shot caller and primary sniper whom had to charge his weapons first, I always double tapped violently and it secured me the cockpit kills that are more difficult to pull off than almost any shooter to date. But since my time with MWO reverting to more traditional shooters; my aim has never been able to come back fully since 2017. But if there is one thing I can certainly say about claw is that; the closer your can comfortably plase your fingers to the back of the buttons without compromising your ability to press them, the more vertical room you'll have. Also if you're just not able to get the most efficient overall posture while playing, and it hurting your aim. Rest your arm on some form of padding just after your elbow. You'll put almost ALL of any applied weight on to a cushioned, singular, articulating point. This should additionally make waying your arm alot easier. I use the face shields I bought from SA-Company as an elbow scrunchie; and it works well when I ever need it. I used to have (A few actually) of this massive clamp-on mousepad from XFX. Because it curved over the table; it was the most comfortable mouse pad I have ever used to date. They have been unavailable for years; and I wish they would return.
Like he said, fingers are our most precise joints. I played lazily on a full palm grip on Razer DeathAdder and using fingers to move the mouse around helps me achieve the kind of precision that I was good at in my young csgo years
hey buddy, i just brought a deathadder recently i fell sort of uncomfrtable switching from a office mouse. Just wanted to know if it gets ok with time.
@@windsofdestruction Hey m8 congrats on the buy. You have a pretty good mouse on your hands. Ergonomically, I never paid attention to that. I was never even aware of different grips so I definetly got used to it BUT!. It's really worth finding a mouse you like gripping like you grip your pet snake. It must feel good. It can even be 100g as long as you like gripping it and have a precise sensor like the newest mice have. I have a Roccat Aimo XP(non-wireless). I like the shape.
@@windsofdestruction Welcome mate. If it's worth mentioning. I still feel like my hand doesn't sit quite well after years of gaming on DeathAdder. The newest wireless has everything perfect (technology wise) except the ergonomic shape will always remind you that you're not holding it quite straight
Imagine a palm grip then lift your palm off the mouse slightly this is how I incorporated finger movement into my grip and it helps a lot with those vertical flicks
I "naturally" hovered my wrist for a while but found it impossible to not strain my hand and fingers while doing so, so I forced myself to learn to keep my wrist touching the mousepad and now find it a lot more comfortable (and less risk of injury)
you are absolutely right i've been holding my mouse firmly ingame sort of claw grip (i think to compensate for my double higher sens than what pros use), it feels tight, but whatever settings i use i can't be good vertically i noticed that while browsing i relax my grip and use only fingertip and my god i always am so precise while closing tabs etc, im gonna try this grip ingame, for some reason i used a different grip ingame i noticed this for some time now, i think it might work good will report back
@@kukazyamra7191i didn't haha, stayed with the same grip, there is a reason to use different grips depending on the situation, browsing is relaxed, but ingame I need stability so I just hold it how I want and watch my posture
@@kukazyamra7191no problem, the best thing to do actually is not to think about your grip, those terms like arm aiming, wrist aiming bla bla are all nonsense, you place your hand on the mouse how you like and depending on the situation you will naturally hold it differently :D it's good to try and see, but it's best to just play
Dropped a sub mate. Got a chuckle out of the “conscious mind” statement 😂 Great video by the way. I have recently discovered grips outside palm and I’m trying to learn a new one because I’ve noticed I lack micro adjustments to hit headshots in Warzone. I appreciate the relaxed and simple/natural approach you have.
using your fingers aswell makes sense, and I actually do feel like I need the sometimes, but I just can't use them, it totally ruins my aim whenever I try to... my aim is good anyway, so I don't know if I should actually try to fix my grip or not
When you mentioned stopping aches and pains I was stupidly like "eh, I don't mind the pain that much" and then you said "because you don't want to get carpel tunnel" and I was like "oh shit, right.
I love that you mentioned Natural Learning. I learned about the concept in the book The Inner Game of Tennis. I'm thinking about changing my grip to allow for some more comfort. The exercise to observe how you're gripping the mouse was exactly what I wanted to see.
I feel like no one that I've watch so far has had the same sort of mousegrip(s) I do. My normal mouse grip isn't palm, but it's only the base of my fingers part of the palm that touches the mouse, however, this is only for normal gameplay, however when my unconsciousness knows I need to make a small adjustments that part is now removed to give access for my fingers to move more precisely. But sometimes my unconsciousness wont make that adjustment for me and since I'm not used to making it myself I will most of the time whiff and die. How would you approach this? Do you recommend to switch my grip fully, or just to learn to make the adjustment myself.
I wanna use fingertip so bad but it’s too straining on my wrist! Use a palm arched fingers so calm hybrid and I just can’t get good vertical motions and control spray in Val. Really shows. Great vid ty
I used to play on a palm grip. My fn coach recommended a mouse that's just smaller and shaped so I can't even use it with my whole palm. It kind of naturally fixed the issue. Maybe helps someone :)
Hi! Question. I’ve been trying to fix my grip so I can click my side buttons easier, however, I don’t see many pros trying to adjust their grip to have easy access to the side buttons. Even some of the examples you showed here don’t take in count the reach to click the side buttons. Is it something I should be caring/focusing on? Thanks!
I tend to map the side buttons with stuff that also is mapped on the keyboard for situations where you need that action, but can't spare a finger. (Like holding the interact key while keeping full movement control) If the buttons aren't in the right spot for you, might always be worth looking into different mice. The general r/mousereviews shape comes with many mice, with the buttons at somewhat different positions.
One of the main problems for me is my terrible chair and high desk. I can't get close to a comfortable position where I can use my whole mousepad and arm. My 500x500 mousepad might as well be 200x200 at most. I'm forced to use wrist only for the most part but my mouse grip is solid I believe. I use fingertip grip and it's the most comfortable for me. I sometimes switch to claw. I know their generic terms as you say but as of now, I have left index finger on left click and middle finger on right click with my thumb loosely touching the right side. main problem with that is having to pull a finger away to use the scrollwheel. and yeah, I use what is the most natural to me. can't even experiment with palm. I still remain to be above average but mainly play heavy tracking games with a eDPI of 960 ((quake, finals, apex). Lower than most apex pros. There is one pro with an eDPI of 4320. Way higher than every one else and somehow does very well. . I can't do twitch shooters with my current setup. Great video btw. Looking forward to practicing your scenarios. edit: what is your opinion of recommended DPI of 1600 for lower latency? Also, what is your though on the 4k polling rate trend with mice nowadays?
i dont like fingertip not b/c its uncomfortable, but b/c it feels unstable trying to lift the mouse up and then down. Thats why i think claw is good 99% of the time for tac fps. You can still micro adjust to head with fingers, while you still feel stable when lifting mouse up and down
hi thanks for this my old mouse grip was starting to feel uncomfortable and not that good still feels kinda weird to me but ill get used to my new mouse grip
would like to know does having my pinky finger sticking out and not touching the mouse have an effect in my aiming ability? (think of NRG's Ethos and how he holds it) it does check all 3 criteria you listed earlier
great video. I aim train for two years now. I started with fingertip grip, don't knowing it's fingertip. after one year I switched to claw grip, after watching all the pro players main it. I have big hands, and settle down on glorious model D ergo mouse after searching for the perfect mouse for me. it Took a while to get used to claw. but I feel locked in, very consistent with my aim and finger placement on the mouse. the tracking always feels good. and I got kind of good benchmark with it. but the main feeling of movement restriction and unnatural blocky mechanism of the "claw" grip never leaves. I try switching back to fingertip from time to time and when I do it I feel more coordination with what my eyes see and arm do, if too describe. now your video make me want to go back to fingertip and got me confused.
This vid is excellent, I've always went with you should try claw, You should try fingertip, Rather than just find whatever is natural to your self, I'm gonna put the ground work in with a more natural grip thank you for this.
I have small hands and got a disease so i have less strength and for me only palm grip is comfortable but it doesn't allow for much finger movement, i tried some smaller mice but it was a strain for my hand, now I'm using the Logitech super light, i hope i can improve my palm grip with this kovaaks playlist
For me i dont really understand the concept of "aimming with your fingers", Because you just don't? They just kind of sit there holding the mouse, Atleast in claw grip. In fingertip i can kind of understand but then your mouse turns in different directions instead of being straight which just messes up things when you are trying to go fast and especially when you run out of range of motion. Puts your shoulder in very weird positions and it doesn't feel right at all whereas if you just used your shoulder to aim its alot more accurate and feels way more natural even when out of your range of motion. So since the only way i can understand aimming with your finger tips is with the finger tip grip, From what ive tried it just gives like a 1ish degree (very small) bigger range of motion (a very shakey and slow one at that) which just kind of ends up with your mouse being sideways and messing everything up. idk
Yeah, I don't get it either. I use palm grip and whenever I try to move my mouse using only my fingers they just slide back and forth on the buttons but no mouse movement is actually happening.
ngl i did the grip thingy and my score went from 84k to 101k in aim labs lol but i used to be 110k+ back in my days but diff mice. Gonna keep on testing on this because that was kinda sick tbh
So I did this and basically came out with my version of a fingertip, with basically the same grip I was using before but with the only palm contact being at the base of the thumb. If I'm being honest, really didn't change much (just freed my fingers).
I used to train and play with finger motion to control precise movements but I found it hurt my fingers, made them sweaty, AND made my wrist tired. I switched to a palm grip and I've done consistently better even without training as much as I used to. I'm not saying this video isn't good or informative, just that the concrete statement to "make sure your grip allows for finger motion" isn't the best advice. The again, I'm not high ranked and maybe I'd do better but I'm not sacrificing my comfort for that.
I have a question regarding comfort I have already developed carpal tunnel (or at least soreness) for quite a while now. How would finding comfort change in a scenario where bad positions may sit *just* right for the pain at the moment, or good grips trigger a bad area?
do you have any advice on improving finger stam/dexterity. As i have an issue where my fingers get sore after playing quiet early on a bit of it, im left handed so maybe its just my right isnt as "used" to doing stuff idk, i try not to death grip too so im not sure why. Also since i mentioned im left handed would you think my aim would be better if i used my mouse in my left hand if i got completely used too it?
Check out the TH-cam channel 1HP or do exercises for rock climbers (finger flexion and extension exercises), you want to do finger and wrist strength exercises
Man I have an awful grip and am now researching what to do to fix it or at least looking for a mouse that can support my weird grip. I use my index finger and middle finger for the main buttons and have my ring and pink and thing hold the sides. My palm is elevated and very rarely touches the back of the mouse unless it’s tall enough and all this while tilting my wrist to the right a bit no matter what. I also squeeze my mouse pretty hard when in an intense gunfight which already led to broken mice
No matter what grip I use I always feel a bit of fatigue, mainly if I'm focusing on my hand and not fully distracted. Don't know what to do. Don't know if this is relevant but I also stretch my hand A LOT I feel an urge to like every 30 seconds I'm at the computer. It's especially worrying because this compulsion to stretch has gone from just when I'm playing to when I'm purely typing, like right now for instance, or sometimes just randomly day to day. My left hand never has this kind of problem.
My natural grip makes me struggle to find mouse with proper shape for me. It's really tilted, somewhat flat and I naturally put mouses sensor inline with my wrist. It's like I try to hold mouse like pencil. You could say I shoud try ergo mice, but ergo mice have such an agressive flare out at the left side of the mouse.
This whole grip thing is on my mind for years since I have never seen someone hold the mouse like I do. In the early 2000s I played a lot of RTS and only later with CSS started really playing shooters so I think this might stem from that time but I hold the mouse between my thumb and my pinky, my middle finger is resting on the wheel and I press right click with my ring finger and every time I stumble upon grip conversation I wonder if something is wrong with me. It's the most natural for me though the pinky gets cold fast if the room temperature is too low but maybe my hands are just baby hands but if I try to use the right mouse button with the middle finger like probably the rest of the human population I start looking at my hand and it just feels weird. Just wanted to get this out of my system, sorry for the long text.
Sounds like 1-3-1 mouse grip to me. I've been practicing with it recently. Not sure if I'm going to switch or not. But it definitely feels comfortable.
I hold zowie fk2 in a way that my ring finger is on the edge, because front of the mouse is too low for two fingers and having pinky in the middle is not comfortable. But now I have 3 mice and they basically define how I hold them.
I switch my grip depending on mouse shape. My xm1r works well with fingertip (but with a curled pinky finger) and claw (but with a straight pinky finger) while . Viper mini works great for me with flat fingertip grip with strong thumb pressure.
i mean a fair point to make is that with correct technique no fingers at all can still be good, like in the case of Tenz. He has said he doesn't use any finger movement which could be wrong?
I just started M&K a few weeks ago and my aim was 10x better than on controller as soon as I started. I didin’t even know about mouse grips but I guess just got lucky with a good natural grip. I naturally started playing claw and I love it.
I mean it's not really a matter of luck as it's very easy to change your natural mouse grip. It's not natural in the sense that your born with it, rather natural in the sense that you learned it with natural learning.
This is true, Ive recorded handcams of me deathmatching, and my grip changes nonstop every 180 i readjust etc its like ill go from claw to extended claw, to fingertip vice versa
Yo creo que el agarrar el mouse es muy natural al igual que agarras una botella de agua o cualquier otro objetos, si requiere que tengas una presión para que el objeto no se caiga, pero no es necesario demasiado en el caso de un agarre del mouse
I think my mouse grip is weird because my side mouse buttons are really far front on the mouse so I have to bend my index and middle for my thumb to reach it, otherwise I would have a palm grip
I think that grip is defined by shape of the mouse. I tried to focus on it at home and at work. I have ZowieFK2 and LogitechRX250. I was sure mice are similar and fine and price of Zowie is not justified. To my surprise, Logitech feels much bigger, much heavier (it really is like 141g vs 85g) and i basically use palm grip with two fingers on side. With zowie I use something between relaxed fingertip and claw depending on vertical adjustment with one finger moving to edge a bit over RMB because front is much lower.
I just use the grip im natural with and its a claw/fingertip depending from the situation, usually its claw in games and ftip in browser etc, thats kinda cool cause my hand/brain do it automatically, also my fingers tilt a bit, maybe i should get an ergo, i had an ergo before and it was as fine as the g304 somehow so idk (it was the xtrfy m4)
A fellow context dependent user. Yeah, when browsing I don't need as much precision and tightness, but less muscle usage is preferred. When gaming, having that control is important. So I switch as well.
If it is essential for a grip to allow finger motion, does that mean that palm grip is not good enough? I have been playing csgo since 2017 and valo ever since it came out and always played with palm grip. The fingers fall flat on the mouse, which means that the fingers cannot be used for aiming.
I get you can use finger to vertically flick, but has anyone personally felt improvements use fingers to micro adjust horizontally as well as combining it with wrist movement and arm movement. I feel like it would better because you are using different muscles simultaneously, but it would be extremely difficult to learn. Im gonna switch to fingerstyle for a bit because i usually play claw, but i find that the way i hold on to the mouse doesnt allow for any finger dexterity what so ever, so i might as well be just full palming it. Has introducing finger movement to your overall aim improved tracking, accurate flicks, and comfortability? how hard was it to learn how to use arm, shoulder, fingers, and wrist fluidly? And lastly would you recommend it?
Just thinking if fringertip grip is really better I found that there are only minimal pro player using fringertip grip i guess less than 5%. If it is really that good there are no reason those pro are not using it (at least the new generation like those under 20 should try. I dont know if this make any sense
@@Nux75 i think its the best mouse grip period just because of the added range of motion allows you to be way more precise, but actually learning and perfecting the mouse grip is way harder then any other grip to the point where its just more convenient to use claw or palm. I believe fingertip is better but it would probably take 5x the amount of time to learn then claw or palm since its hard to be able to move your arm, wrist, and fingers independently, and when you start out your fingers will cramp and hurt a lot as you get used to it and adjust your grip. Some games its kind of useless to learn fingertip as well. Games like valorant and csgo probably benefit the most for hitting precise headshots and flicks but games like cod and apex would probably have less of a benefit since they rely a lot more on tracking. A lot of players will use a hybrid between claw and fingertip depending on the gunfight in game which is a best of both worlds type of grip. At the end of the day you can make any grip work at the top level of competition anyways so its important to focus on comfort over range unless your current grip is super restrictive
i mainly use my fingers for aim and i have a small mousepad and bad wrist and hand aim so in my part i have range of motion part of the 3 basic questions
Is it a problem if the thicker fleshy part under the thumb touches the side of my mouse? It FEELS like it impedes my movement and sometimes feels "sticky" but I don't know if it's normal and what parts should and shouldn't touch the mouse.
I haven’t really benchmarked in 4-6 months, got plat complete with a couple diamond scores, every time I try to get into it I get bored. The s4 release kinda killed the concept. They ruined the benchmarks, and the s3s lost their appeal when they became unofficial.
I can't grip my mouse without feeling uncomfortable and every time my grip feels different cuz of this I can't even focus on games. I tried every grip and nothing feel right no matter what.
My grip seems to change when I am at my desktop and then depending on which game I am playing. That has always struck me as being weird. The more intense the game, the more I palm the mouse.
What if my mouse is bigger than yours? Where its seems more ideal to be center palm? I have a Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed. And I feel like my bottom palm that I use to to stabilize along with my wrist stops me from looking up or directly down really fast, especially when its hot.
Here we see a youtuber trying to convince you that finger tip grip is better than the other grips and try to confuse people. Let people feel what they like bro. Trying to gaslight people into thinking that their grip is bad is really just worsening their aim. Disliked your video. Your entire reasoning behind a lot of vertical fingers movement needed has such limited use case scenarios that it is laughable. Its only good for recoil control at larger ranges where games have little recoil in their guns and small vertical micro adjustment in tac shooters. In most scenarios you would need bigger adjustments from your shoulder. Also honestly by your logic one would say wrist aiming is better than elbow aiming because the wrist is more 'controllable'. Sure it can be. But with low enough sens and practise those wider muscle movements too can be remembered and recognised, maybe even better than small wrist movements. Same goes with fingers and shoulders. People find their way to hold the mouse through experience and playtime. You can try to show your view point where you think a certain style of grip might have advantages and can ask people to try out but not just call all other grip styles dogshit outright.
I am trying to switch to a better grip. Before is used palm grip. But everytime i do the valorant playlist on kovaaks my fingers just slide down from my mouse if you know what i mean someone help
30 years as a palm gripper until I came across this video. Thanks for the great content, I've caught a few live sessions as well and found them very helpful. I don't aim train, tracking is so-so, but flicking at under 11" / 360 is so much fun and I'm hitting a lot more vertical flicks. Cheers!

Love to see that somebody had some great results for a game that I often play.
Finding a grip that works is much more important than using "the specific grip the pros use"
Same with dpi/cpi actually, there isn't the perfect mouse sens, some are more focused on precise aim, some more on fast turns, some are inbetween.
@@xThunderMelonx you sound knowledgable, i was master on controller and ive been on mnk for abt 2 months and im decent do you have any routines?

as a person who got VT diamond with palm grip
wanting to swap to fingertip doing the mouse grip scenarios - This is what i found helped the most incorporating the use of my fingers
once you find your natural grip I really recommend jumping into B180T Voltaic Regen and bind your fire to your shift or spacebar and i just focusing on using your fingers to track the bouncing bots. as they regen quick youll need to stay on target but if youre trying to get out of palm grip i recommend this massively.
you noo
I love how you record at a low framerate so the gameplay looks snappier
i did not change my mouse grip at all, but this video helped me to see and work in-some weakness in my grip and in my aim, great video
i recently stopped using a mm720 after my arm lost all its muscle memory that i had for aiming, i had to use a palm grip to feel comfortable and i felt weird, after getting a g305 it felt a lot better but i still felt like something was missing and normal fingertip wasnt the answer, this vid helped me because its so different than the usual valorant guides of "HERE IS 100% WAY TO GET BETTER IN-DEPTH GUIDE ON HOW TO GET BETTER" and its just a guy saying hit your shots and train or xyz pro player does this grip, this vid genuenly made me get all of my muscle memory back and remind myself dont use templates other people have made because its usually just copied from someone else so that people will get ego. If anyone is having a similar issue try to make a formula for yourself like what your arm does when you aim, for me i had to picture it as my arm just moving my hand so that my finger/wrist can do the precision aiming, and from then on it was just getting them to work together again.
i realised i was always a fingertip player this month and i was always transitioning onto claw and palm grips due to low sens addiction or just copying other pro grips.
also my shakiness went away with this grip, funny how its fingertip grip thats making the shaky aim go away
now i am at peace with my 0.36@800DPI with fingertip grip
My conscious mind just totally went to subscribe
Thanks!
Man, you're content is just crazy thx for your insane job !
Bro I subscribe. Your videos are the most logical thing out there.
I'm gonna try using my middle finger to left click, to see if that makes my mouse point more straight instead of slightly to the left
@@actosium thanks friend
It’s less abt what you try to learn more abt how you learn it.
you are absolutely right
i've been holding my mouse firmly ingame sort of claw grip (i think to compensate for my double higher sens than what pros use), it feels tight, but whatever settings i use i can't be good vertically
i noticed that while browsing i relax my grip and use only fingertip and my god i always am so precise while closing tabs etc, im gonna try this grip ingame, for some reason i used a different grip ingame
i noticed this for some time now, i think it might work good will report back
lmao same thing, i recently realized that i can't use my gaming grip while i'm browsing like at all. Did you change the grip in the end?
@@kukazyamra7191i didn't haha, stayed with the same grip, there is a reason to use different grips depending on the situation, browsing is relaxed, but ingame I need stability so I just hold it how I want and watch my posture
@@ruleset I see, thx for the answer
@@kukazyamra7191no problem, the best thing to do actually is not to think about your grip, those terms like arm aiming, wrist aiming bla bla are all nonsense, you place your hand on the mouse how you like and depending on the situation you will naturally hold it differently :D it's good to try and see, but it's best to just play
Dropped a sub mate. Got a chuckle out of the “conscious mind” statement 😂
Great video by the way. I have recently discovered grips outside palm and I’m trying to learn a new one because I’ve noticed I lack micro adjustments to hit headshots in Warzone. I appreciate the relaxed and simple/natural approach you have.
The most important thing to have on mind is ergonomics, what good does it whatever grip you use if in a couple years you develop carpal tunnel?
using your fingers aswell makes sense, and I actually do feel like I need the sometimes, but I just can't use them, it totally ruins my aim whenever I try to... my aim is good anyway, so I don't know if I should actually try to fix my grip or not
I don't think we need to worry about which grips we should choose, but instead how effective you could perform with every grips you chose
should i touch my mouse pad with my fingers ?
When you mentioned stopping aches and pains I was stupidly like "eh, I don't mind the pain that much" and then you said "because you don't want to get carpel tunnel" and I was like "oh shit, right.
video goated i just gripped my mouse as naturally as i could and i felt like i was out my body🤣 really good vid for finding a grip
god you are so smart, wildly underrated channel
is mouse pad is an important part for aim?
Do you recommend to switch my grip fully, or just to learn to make the adjustment myself.
funnily enough, I was legit just trying to find a grip bc I just haven’t found one. nice vid bro
I wanna use fingertip so bad but it’s too straining on my wrist! Use a palm arched fingers so calm hybrid and I just can’t get good vertical motions and control spray in Val. Really shows. Great vid ty
I couldnt find the playlist in the spreadsheet you provided .WIll we have to search for it in kovacks itself?
You scrolled past it. It's higher in the description
Thanks!
I’d strongly recommend using your keyboard for any necessary action. I’m yet to experience a functional grip that allows a player to use side buttons.
I tend to map the side buttons with stuff that also is mapped on the keyboard for situations where you need that action, but can't spare a finger. (Like holding the interact key while keeping full movement control)
If the buttons aren't in the right spot for you, might always be worth looking into different mice. The general r/mousereviews shape comes with many mice, with the buttons at somewhat different positions.
Would you go ahead and jump in game like this straight away. Or grind it on aim labs first?
Great video man❤ Helped a lot
I use palm grip but my hands are elevated, do you recommend that the little finger has contact with the mousepad for greater flick control?
For flicking a lot of people like it
i dont like fingertip not b/c its uncomfortable, but b/c it feels unstable trying to lift the mouse up and then down. Thats why i think claw is good 99% of the time for tac fps. You can still micro adjust to head with fingers, while you still feel stable when lifting mouse up and down
Totally agree whenever I tried fingertip I felt my aim was super good but I just couldn't get used to the feeling of my mouse being so unstable
hi thanks for this my old mouse grip was starting to feel uncomfortable and not that good still feels kinda weird to me but ill get used to my new mouse grip
would like to know does having my pinky finger sticking out and not touching the mouse have an effect in my aiming ability? (think of NRG's Ethos and how he holds it)
it does check all 3 criteria you listed earlier
great video.
If claw feels off and fingertip lacks control, leave categories behind and find something inbetween that gives you the best of both.
There’s plenty of people who’ve gotten plenty far on palm. If you have to use it, you can still be one of them
Beautifull kovaak's mousepad
Get a zilotes C-18 ergonomic mouse with do it yourself weight reduction, work's for me
should the bottom of your palm be making contact with the bottom part of your mouse?
Is it possible or is it even a good idea to use finger tip grip on heavy mouse like a G402?
ngl i did the grip thingy and my score went from 84k to 101k in aim labs lol but i used to be 110k+ back in my days but diff mice. Gonna keep on testing on this because that was kinda sick tbh
Nice

I have a question regarding comfort
I have already developed carpal tunnel (or at least soreness) for quite a while now.
This is so in depth it's insane.
I also squeeze my mouse pretty hard when in an intense gunfight which already led to broken mice
i use fingertip and when i aim i lose the grip in gun fights should i change grip but i have heard finger tip is best grip for aim
Does this mean extending your fingers is bad while holding your mouse?
No matter what grip I use I always feel a bit of fatigue, mainly if I'm focusing on my hand and not fully distracted. Don't know what to do. Don't know if this is relevant but I also stretch my hand A LOT I feel an urge to like every 30 seconds I'm at the computer. It's especially worrying because this compulsion to stretch has gone from just when I'm playing to when I'm purely typing, like right now for instance, or sometimes just randomly day to day. My left hand never has this kind of problem.
Mouse?
G pro . Hands are about 21 x 9 cm.
maybe those measurements are worng actually but yeah
@@WestProter @West Proter I measured from my wrist to middle finger tip and then the normal width
@@TheNegationist if you're including your thumb in that measurement then the gpro might be too wide for you. I'd recommend a skinnier mouse.
Ya mice do effect grip.
i mean a fair point to make is that with correct technique no fingers at all can still be good, like in the case of Tenz. He has said he doesn't use any finger movement which could be wrong?
Just watch new video on this channel, this guy already use arm aiming when vertical , so funny right?
I just started M&K a few weeks ago and my aim was 10x better than on controller as soon as I started. I didin’t even know about mouse grips but I guess just got lucky with a good natural grip. I naturally started playing claw and I love it.
I mean it's not really a matter of luck as it's very easy to change your natural mouse grip. It's not natural in the sense that your born with it, rather natural in the sense that you learned it with natural learning.

With zowie I use something between relaxed fingertip and claw depending on vertical adjustment with one finger moving to edge a bit over RMB because front is much lower.
mouse and hand size are very important.
I have viper mini and small hand what grip should i try my aim is terrible unstable recoil cantrol is shit
I'd say palm grip is pretty terrible, and a waste of everyones time, yes. Experiment in kvks for a few months and see what happens

Well it is as simple as shroud puts it, "Just pick up your mouse and hold it. That's your mouse grip".
Is it a problem if the thicker fleshy part under the thumb touches the side of my mouse? It FEELS like it impedes my movement and sometimes feels "sticky" but I don't know if it's normal and what parts should and shouldn't touch the mouse.
