    I adore these! This set and the Ohuhu water based skintone set are excellent. I'm too cheap to shell out for a ton of Tombows. I have a few but I save them for my own art. But I have the 100 set of Arteza Twimarkers, the 96 set of Real Brush pens, the 96 set of the Kingart dual brush pens, this Nihau set and the Ohuhu water based brush markers skintone set. And I have never once felt like I was missing out on anything... quality or colors. I think these sets were an awesome and welcome addition to Ohuhu's higher quality line of water based markers (versus the cheap ones that come in the huge sets).
    Awesome review. Thank you so much!!

      Hi Rachel! Oooo Waterbased Skin Tone set?!? I must look that up! I must admit, I didn't hold out much hope for these being as good as Tombows, but they are! Colour Me Surprised! I think I have all the sets you mentioned... can never have too many pens... can you? :D

    Fab review, thanks a million. I think I might get those and if I need more dark colours, I get those from Tombow.

      Thanks Sonya! I wouldn’t be surprised if they expand the set with a ‘deep’ shades set and a ‘skin tones’ set. They can’t think the range is complete with no browns!

    I’ve been too cheap to buy the Tombows but have wanted them forever. The Ohuhus looks great but I agree there is a lack of colors. Maybe they’ll add more without bringing the price for the set up to the price of Tombows.

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I took *years* to build up my Tombow set. Buying a few here and there and finally completing the set when Cult Pens did a 3 for 2 offer.
      I have a feeling Ohuhu will bring out more colours, maybe a ‘deep’ set. They can’t think the range is complete with no browns! That would be such an oversight. Unless they’re saving them for a ‘skin tone’ set. Wouldn’t surprise me!

      @@ArtJourneyUK good idea about buying the smaller Tombow sets. I want to wait until they have a sale I can’t refuse but I haven’t been watching that closely so not sure if it’s already happened or not.

      @@SubourbonMom the best I ever saw on the Full Set of Tombows was £175 for the 108 in the storage box. That’s still expensive though! When Cult Pens do the 3 for 2 it’s a decent deal.

    • @SubourbonMom
      @SubourbonMom 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtJourneyUK I’m in the US and I think the best deal I’ve seen is $165ish. Tombow is actually having a BOGO deal right now but I’m too lazy to figure out if that’s a good deal or not (to make the full set). 🤦‍♀️ I’ve never ordered from Cult Pens.

      @@SubourbonMom haha I know what you mean, drove me mad working out per pen prices and if I had certain colours. $165 was a good price... but still expensive for a set of colouring pens!

    Hello, I’m curious what paper are you using here to swatch all the pens? They look nice

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a page from an A4 Winsor & Newton watercolour pad. I always use watercolour paper when swatching pens that say they are blendable.

      @@ArtJourneyUK Thank you, is it hot press do you know? Maybe cold press would be yoo rough on the brushes?

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@judithf9297 Yes, it's hot pressed. Smooth. I have tried more textured paper before but it doesn't go through the printer as well and the brush pens are more hardwork to use with the heavier texture. 😊

    • @judithf9297
      @judithf9297 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtJourneyUK Yes that's what I thought, hot press. It so happens W&N is my favorite because it's really smooth, they raised the price on it quite a bit over the last couple of years. Also Bockingford is pretty good, I'm not sure if it's 100% cotton, it's populate in the UK, I got it first at Jackson's, I think now it's on Amazon also. Maybe a little cheaper than W&N, depending where you buy it. Thank you again 😊

    I have the original 100 and they pilled the paper a lot…hoping these are better…nice colours…They did acrylic pens in thin barrels but they were awful and disappeared very quickly 🤣🥰

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooo do you mean the original 100 with the white bodies and coloured caps?
      These are better quality than the £20/80 set I had previously but are more expensive and they still pill the paper! The main improvement is in the brush tip quality and the solubility of the ink... in my opinion anyway ☺️

    Hello 🤍
    Nice review. It would’ve been nice tho (or advisable), to compare one end of the markers colour with the other end. I bought two packs and in both were 8+ markers where the colours didn’t match at all - like pale reddish pink on one end and apricot on the other or grey/amethyst aso. I was so sad bc I LOVE the brush nibs.

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Claudia! Are you saying that the ink in one pen came out differently depending what end of the pen you used? 😲
      I would never have thought of comparing two sides of the same pen because surely there is just one core inside that feeds both tips? I’ve quite a few double-ended pens and have never experienced something this so it wouldn’t occur to me to check!
      I’m going to revisit the pens to check this! Thanks for the information ☺️

    • @claudiafreudenberger4645
      @claudiafreudenberger4645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello @@ArtJourneyUK 🤍
      Yes, thats exactly what I’m saying. They came like that. Maybe the mixed in pigments separated due to vertical storage, and sadly I couldn’t reverse it by flipping the pens upside down for a couple of days or laying them on their sides.
      I wouldn’t check either, I just swatched both sides to see the difference in width and if both sides worked.
      The colour difference was more severe with some than others but since I wanted to colour in with them, and Ohuhu couldn’t provide replacements atm due to the global madness, I sent them back for now.
      But I gotta say, I really liked the Ohuhu brush nips better than the Tombows, they seemed way sturdier and better to handle imo.
      Anyways, I hope yours are all working as they are supposed to! 😘
