I want to thank you for taking the time and actually trying out what a lot of us have been wondering if it can be done now I know it works and I'll be trying it on my next project. Awesome job😎
Thank You for this one. I am painting my Jeep and my 1953 Massey Harris Ferguson (MFH-50) Tractor. Looks like Rust-Oleum with a good clear coat for the tractor. I am going to have one shiny tractor now. Thanks again for doing this video.
What I like about it is that you try it using the something we normal people have in ours garages. Thanks man greatly appreciated for that great videooooo ...

Don't sleep on Rustoleum bro. I've painted two of my own cars and another dozen of my friends cars with rattle cans. We buff it and add ceramic coating for a cheap job. 2k clear and it lasts for years.
Spraying the Rustoleum with a gun instead of rattle can and add some “tractor paint hardener” and you won’t have to deal with chasing the clock to keep the paint from lifting. After it dries, you can paint the next coat right away or “sleep on it”, it won’t care either way.
Sprayed my Izsus npr with white rustoleum out of a can. Waited a couple hours and 2k clear out of a can. I got solvent pop. Sanded it and cleared after a couple weeks again. 8 years ago and it’s fine. I gave the rustoleum on the rest of the truck a couple of weeks, zero problem. The factory didn’t clear so mine looks way better.
I need to paint my Freightliner flc120 semi truck aluminum cab and fiberglass hood. White with a 2k clear hardened uv clear over top. Is this what you did? What do I need to do avoid the issue that you had? Thanks
Rustoleum had a FAQ on using their 2k clear on their products, with a chart for different products /different 2k. Could you maybe try sometime, rustoleum spray paint and their aerosol clearcoat?
You sir have got the chemistry perfected because my 💩 didn't look nothing like yours did! Mine looked like I fed my dog laxatives then squeezed him to paint and finished it off spraying it down with my old super soaker full of acetone! Can't believe that old paint worked either man! Awesome job man!
U boys beat me to the punch at least I know now that it works I know that you can put clear over acrylic enamel but u showed the world that it also works over oil based enamel sweet
Thanks for the comment man I believe the answer is the 2k hardener to flash dry that paint and to make it hard instead of the typical soft oil base paint
Any one who tries this is in a whole lot of trouble. The rustoleum is still degassing and will continue for a very long time while the 2k is a thermoset reaction. Thus there will be cracking of the paint. I have experience here so good luck.
Did you let the RUSTOLEUM Enamel paint dry/air out? Take a look over time on that paint as oil based paints require longer to dry out than Urethane based (your 2k products normally). "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" - A good neighbor :)
If you don't add the catalyst to the Rust-Oleum it won't work for it will be a typical soft Rust-Oleum paint this paint as of right now is holding to all the plastics 10times better than normal ppg paint this was something I've been messing with for a while and just finally hit the chemical right 🤙 I appreciate the comment bud
We did a color sand on ours to get rid of some of the imperfections underneath so you can either follow up with the clear after color or color sand in-between hope this helps
The Rust-Oleum hardener they put in the paint is very slow and gives a soft finish when putting a 2k clear over it you need the base coat to be pretty solid for it not to react to it
I got a buddy with a youtube channel "moore motorsports" he built his channel on doing rustoleum paint jobs and has sprayed 2k clear over the top several times.his latest car he did a rustoleum turquoise/ teal and spray max 2k over it.
Really could use some help here. I rattle can rustoleum 2x painters over my golf cart, black on bottom grey on top with red pinstripe. Used spraymax 2k clear matte about four days after my last coat of grey. Burnt through wet sanding the following day. (Now i know, to soon....) Went to respray the grey and used blue scotch painters tape to mask. The tape lifted the clearcoat when removed. Starting over now. Should i wait a week or two after the last coat of rustoleum before applying spraymax? Do i need to apply spraymax while the paint is still fresh (like 45 min fresh) if i dont spray 2k clear right away do i need to wet sand the rustoleum before applying the 2k clear. Im using rustoleum satin and 2k spraymax gloss glamour this time.
@@derekshane8786 I haven't done alot with the rattle can paint mostly because of that issue Rust-Oleum is soft and it needs something to really make it flash and harder is the reason I buy the quarts and gallons and mix it myself it cost more but you get a better product either wich way if you don't clear on tack yes color sand using a red scotch Brite will be more than enough
Thank you for getting back to me. I've been trying to get a clear answer and most people don't seem to understand the question. Seems logical to either clear coat in a tacky window or light sand and then clear outside of that window. Maybe I'm just paranoid because I screwed it up once already and being a perfectionist makes doing anything take 10 times longer than the normal. Would you say an average tack time would be a few hours after last coat?
@@derekshane8786 I think on the rattle can stuff an hour roughly when mixing the way I do is back to back it dries extremely fast and you get a harder shell
@@ronyoutu hey man thanks for the comment you know no I haven't tried that one outside of the clear that they make spray can wise do they sell gallons of paint in the krylon ?

I'm not sure how it would react as far as spray can goes but I will say that I have seen and heard a lot of people doing just that so it might be worth a try
