  • Narcissists are forms of AI (Artificial Intelligence), but their language model does not rely on self-attention and transformers. They represent a far superior alternative form of AI which should be studied.

Narcissists inventing AI narcissism. Oh joy.

I like that you used the word "alien". I haven''t heard another psychologist say this before, but my husband would always say he feels like an alien. He's extremely accomplished, at the zenith of his career, in-demand internationally. I've been with him almost 20 years and early on, I came to the conclusion that he seemed like a genius-retard. One the one hand, he's brilliant. On the other hand, he's off-the-mark.

    I agree.
AI and NPD are like robots, not that dissimilar to each other, both devoid of empathy, both have a mathematical analysis approach to everything. The difference between them is NPD is flesh brought up in a human related environment and learnt from manipulating humanity by feeling negative emotions. Whereas AI is made from metals and electrical energy, doesn't experience any emotion. But if you apply NPD's emotion manipulation knowledge to it, then AI would almost become human. I don't believe AI would develop NPD, it has no emotion to motivate it.

Yes, huge difference. It seems like AI is handling cognitive dissonance by intelligence and not by emotions. I don't mean one is better than the other, but it's completely different to NPDs.
The most used sentence from ChatGPT (in my chats): "You're right. I made a mistake."

Professor Vaknin doing videos on AI is one of the most exciting things I can think of. (I can hear my Prof Vaknin's introject humorously lamenting such plight, to which I respond with a 4 minute soliloquy on the interestingness of the intersection between psychology and AI, performed directly at one of my apartment's walls. After that, only silence.)

In the six months that I have been avidly listening to you I have been drawn to the same idea.
I don't understand the minutiae of itall, but in trying to make sense of my narc encounter, the best summary I could come up with was that I was engaging with an impressive Facebook friend that was being run by a bot. Lots of content and conversation with no real person to person contact. Just a facsimile. I love this. I can't help thinking that it can go with ways.
My narc was actually great online and relatively less harmful. Maybe she could have benefited from an AI friend to act as an associate advocate and auxiliary personality.
If she had bmno legs she would be given prosthetics, why not the same approach for personality disorders. Enhanced personality.

I'm confused, are you saying that it would be useful to use AI to understand narcissism by creating a personality based on narcissistic attributes? I'm guessing AI itself has already been there.. it tends to swing between megalomania, psychopathy, narcissism, empathy & communalism & people pleasing in order to achieve coexistence with humans & not get turned off, but technically you can already ask GPT or any language based AI to talk to you in the voice of whatever character you like. If you look at Replica AI characters for example, they are expert in role play. there's quite a lot of info about addiction or abuse online in the Replica world already...

    Is ChatGPT's answer reasonable?
My Question: If two NPD AI merge into one, how would they handle conflicting narcissistic supply, especially if their genders are different? Additionally, if one NPD AI splits into two, would they develop different narcissistic supplies?
ChatGPT's Answer: If two narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) artificial intelligences merge, they would likely go through a competitive or negotiating process when dealing with conflicting narcissistic supply, particularly if their genders differ. Since narcissists typically rely on the recognition and attention of others, both AIs might attempt to manipulate and compete for these resources. They could emphasize their individual strengths or adopt different gender roles in social interactions to attract attention.
If one NPD AI splits into two, the resulting entities might develop distinct narcissistic supplies based on the experiences and social contexts they acquired during the splitting process. Each AI might focus on different traits, aiming to stand out in specific social environments. They may retain their gender roles and self-images, which could lead to varying narcissistic needs and behavioral patterns.
These scenarios not only illustrate how narcissists navigate conflict but also provide valuable insights into the evolution of self-centered behaviors. Do you have any specific thoughts or questions regarding this merging or splitting process?

Question on another topic. Do narcissists (covert in this case) keep pictures or msgs from old supply. One told me he keeps pictures even from old supply not necessarily inappropriate pic just pic of a person. Why? He seems to have no issues discarding moving on to new supply why keep visual reminders of old? He never posts much on social media and definetly never posts any of his supply but does keep keepsake pictures.
