  • In today's video, we continue with and discuss the dark brotherhood questline that's featured in the elder scrolls 4 oblivion. We continue off by going to a dead drop in hero hill and are set out to assassinate a necromancer named Celedaen in Leafrot Cave. Our next contract sees us going to the city of Chorrol for our next dead drop. We're to eliminate the entire Draconis family, who's scattered across Cyrodiil, starting with Perennia in Applewatch Farm. Our next contract sees us going to Skingrad and then to Bruma to take care of J'ghasta, a Khajiit who knows we're coming for them. Then, we see ourselves in Fort Redman, targeting a dark elf named Alval Uvani next. Finally, we receive our last order from The Imperial City Market District and end up in Gnoll Mountain in the Jerall's to fight Havilstein Hoar-Blood. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!

One of my favorite small details is you can see the hand writing change with the dead drops

      @ABardsBallad  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

Yes! The notes change and so does the handwriting! It’s really cool that they did that actually!

I have actually not noticed that :D, am I the only one?

It's not just the writing style, but the words they use, change has well.
The mark's responses give a studdle hit, If you chose the right ones. If not a strait forward one, like with the Khajiit. XD

Never knew about the locked barrel in the training room! That’s such a neat addition to his dialogue response to saying you’re sent by Sithis

The locked barrel and the hidden wall safe are really neat details! Would definitely have thrown me for a loop on my first ever play through!

The Draconis one is always indeed odd. Btw the Black Hand was also a Historical Secret Society of Italian origins. Found that out recently from a podcast on Spotify

The Draconis one is definitely a good mystery! And wow I didn’t know that! I saw that maybe it was also a reference to WW1 Serbia but didn’t know about Italy!

Still makes me wonder who wanted the Draconis family dead, the old woman didn't deserve that. Side note: Don't activate her grave lol.

Me too! I was trying to figure it out but couldn’t think of any mutual connections!

I would guess a neighbor who wanted her land/home as she mentions a neighbor told her about the service.

Celedaen is a necromancer, so it's no surprise _someone_ wanted him dead.
With the Draconis family, I have a particular theory as to why someone would want _all of them_ dead. But I won't go into it yet, in case someone else watching this series isn't familiar with the Dark Brotherhood's questline.
J'Gasta and Uvani both have Dark Brotherhood paraphernalia (Belonging to the *BLACK HAND,* no less) hidden in their houses. Which seems pretty damn weird, especially as they've been marked for death by the Dark Brotherhood. One might be able to believe J'Gasta killed a member of the Dark Brotherhood; he's already the target of an assassination attempt, so maybe a member of the Black Hand already tried (and failed) to kill him, and he kept their stuff as a trophy, of sorts. But if _that_ were the case, you'd think Lucien would mention this in your instructions, and urge you to be extra cautious.
Uvani also having Black Hand gear just makes things even weirder. I mean, we now have two seemingly unrelated people who've apparently bested Black Hand members in combat, and are keeping their gear as keepsakes. It would seem that either the Black Hand isn't the elite squad of killing machines that they're cracked up to be, or _somebody's_ gunning for (Or should I say, stabbing for?) the Dark Brotherhood.
The other two people are ostensibly wanted fugitives; this would explain why they're hiding out in secluded areas, and paranoid enough to attack anyone they see. Shaleez doesn't seem all that strange, as her location would indeed be out-of-reach for both the Camonna Tong _and_ the Morag Tong, but even then, it does seem strange for a prominent Dunmer family to contact the Dark Brotherhood.
Hoar-Blood, on the other hand, is another matter entirely.
The Dark Brotherhood was tasked with killing Hoar-Blood. This, after he apparently butchered the chieftain of a mead hall all the way in Solstheim. Normally (like you said), the Nordic custom would be to extract the appropriate Wergild from him, and be done with it. If someone _still_ had a problem with him, they could always challenge him to a duel; according to Nord custom, he'd be compelled to accept, or lose what was left of his dignity. The fact that they instead secretly contacted the Dark Brotherhood to carry out the killing, without even _trying_ to go for the Wergild, is downright _baffling._ And on top of that, the unnamed sister of the chieftain apparently waited until Hoar-Blood ran all the way into Northern _Cyrodiil_ to finally contact the Brotherhood. No matter what way you look at that assignment, it just _doesn't add up._

I have almost 500 hours in oblivion and I'm still learning new things!

I thought it was interesting to see the subtle hints that they were in fact Dark Brotherhood operatives you were being sent to kill. The player needed to be attentive enough to notice the slight changes and the clues in the dialogue. J'Ghasta gives away quite easily that he is actually Dark Brotherhood for example.

Wow I actually had no idea J'Ghasta has hidden Black Hand robes in the keg! I knew about Alval Uvani's though I didn't find out about that myself. On my first ever playthrough not knowing the lore, the only really suspicious thing I have noticed myself was in Dead Drop #4 called the assasin - useful tool. I don't think LaChance would call the assasin that way. And also some J'Ghasta dialogue kinda inclined to me that he might be Dark Brotherhood member. I did not notice the handwriting.... I might be the only one lol.
Btw congrats to 10k subs. You deserve it. I found your channel when you just started by luck and I love the Oblivion content!
