I never really leave comments but I wanted to say I love your videos so much, they are so refreshing and relaxing after long stressful days. Oblivion often feels so forgotten out of all the Bethesda releases but a scuffed diamond will always be a diamond!
I appreciate the little touch the developers added when the character returns to the Draconis Graves, I felt it adds an unexpected turn, especially when every other victim of the dark brotherhood doesn’t get a grave
Definitely still my favorite questline in the game. Took us on an emotional ride that I wish would come back again. Thank you for your video! It's amazing!
And at last, we learn the truth. The reason Lucien kept sending us on those weird missions to assassinate people who are in possession of Black Hand gear, is because Lucien *WASN'T* sending us on those missions. In the video where you took out the Draconis family, I mentioned I had a theory relating to them, that I wouldn't mention until later. Well, in the "Read More" section, later is now. I think Perennia Draconis was the one who hired the Dark Brotherhood to kill Bellamont's mother. Seeing as Bellamont eventually rose to the position of Speaker, I think he would be able to look through the records and find out she was behind his mother's death. Outraged, he would orchestrate for her to be executed (maybe he paid someone to do the ritual; like say, if they paid around 1,000 gold, he gave them around 2,000, that sort of thing); and then, just to twist the knife even further, he ordered the deaths of _her entire family_ as well. If there's anyone who back up the old "Kill your whole family" threat, it's the Dark Brotherhood. Considering how he personally witnessed Lucien decapitate his mom as a child, it stands to reason he'd have one _Hell_ of a grudge against the Dark Brotherhood in general, and against Lachance in particular. Considering how many people the Brotherhood's killed over the decades (possibly even centuries), I'm surprised it took as long as it did for one of those targets to have relatives who were so embittered and vengeful that they'd resort to drastic measures to see justice done. Maybe when Bellamont first started his crusade against the Brotherhood, he was more lucid and sane, but over the years, he became increasingly unhinged. He even says as much in his journal, when he admits that the Brotherhood is now a part of him, just as much as he's a part of it; whether he likes it, or not. On a surface level, Bellamont appears to have failed his mission. I mean, the Brotherhood's still around, and the Night Mother isn't so much as scratched. But fast-forward around 200 years or so, until the events of Skyrim take place. During this time, it's revealed that after the lion's share of the Black Hand was wiped out, the Brotherhood was in utter _disarray._ Your character likely relocated to the Shivering Isles, to permanently take on the role of Sheogorath, which once again deprived the Brotherhood of a worthy listener. This led to catastrophic infighting, and just when it seemed like the worst of it was over, and the Brotherhood might make a comeback... A little something called "The Great War" happened. During which, a number of the Brotherhood's Sanctuaries were stormed and sacked, by both the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion. And from there, things just went from bad to worse. The Dominion's invasion of Hammerfell bogged down and devolved into a protracted, bloody stalemate; during that time, the Brotherhood's Hammerfell chapter suffered such crippling losses, that it basically fell apart, and the Brotherhood was forced to abandon the province entirely. This, combined with them getting virtually wiped out in the Summerset Isles, Valenwood, _and_ Elsweyr, resulted in what was left of the Brotherhood withdrawing to protect the crucial Cyrodiilic core of Sanctuaries. Things eventually got so bad that the Shadowscale training facility in Black Marsh, once one of the Brotherhood's most sacred places, was all but abandoned. And yet, despite all of those losses, the Brotherhood's remaining members were _still_ squabbling and fighting one another; it also didn't help that the Night Mother seemingly refused to name another Listener. It eventually got to the point where the Cyrodiilic branch of the Brotherhood consisted entirely of Cicero and another unnamed member. This other member eventually deserted, leaving Cicero with little choice but to flee to Skyrim, with the Night Mother's coffin in tow. By that time, the Brotherhood had pretty much abandoned the teachings of Sithis and the Five Tenets, and had been reduced to being a bunch of glorified mercenaries. And depending on what the Dragonborn does, the Brotherhood can be finally finished off, or regain some semblance of its former glory. So, in a roundabout way, Bellamont's scheme to destroy the Dark Brotherhood ultimately succeeded, albeit not in the way he envisioned it. P.S: I can't say with 100% certainty if this was intentional, but the Black Hand share a name with the real-life Black Hand, who were a Serbian Nationalist group; the real-life Black Hand are believed to have been behind the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, which ultimately kickstarted World War 1, which (in turn) eventually led to World War 2, which led to the Cold War, etc. Edit: Fixed some typos.
Very well said! And yes! I actually have a short based around the Easter egg of the black hand and their shared name with the Serbian organization! I’d believe that it’s a direct reference!
I wish I could send more, but I just wanted to send something to express you’re truly one of my favorite channels, and will always find an adoring fan in me.
I don’t really understand why you can’t show anyone the traitor’s diary to prove the traitor is still around after Lachance was killed. Particularly it would make sense to show Arquen, since you know she is not the traitor. I’m sure the quest would just proceed the same way anyway, since you’d still contact the Night Mother so the traitor would reveal himself, it just seems weird that it isn’t even an option.
i play your videos while i'm cleaning/cooking i've played oblivion over and over and it never gets old and now i've subscribed and added to my other oblivion content
wait… can you skip out on the weekly interaction with the night mother after the quest end or must you complete it every week? does it cause any downside other than missing out on some money? the game make it sounds like you must do it but that doesn’t seem right
Greetings! Im a fellow skyrim player been playing for a year and i saw some oblivion vids and it looks Way better than skyrim especially the magic What videos should i consult for advice on oblivion? Platform is PC
This questline is so overrated. The quests are just kill this guy in one or two ways rinse and repeat. The party was the exception not the rule. It is an example of how great this could have been. The questline completely s*** the bed as soon as your told to kill the entire sanctuary members. Why kill them all when all you need to do is find the traitor? The only way that makes any goddamn sense is if Lucien was the traitor tricking dumb players who for whatever don't question him on that bizarre concept. The traitor plot then gets forgotten about until all of suddenly its important again. The dead drops change after the second one and smart players would notice the change in the handwriting but you cannot go back to Lucien he just vanishes because Bethesda wants you to play the fool. The reveal is rather obvious because of it. The irritating lack of choice gets wirse when you cannot save Lucien or mention the evidence of the true traitor. No again we're supposed to play the fool. Hell it happens again when the traitor kills two members right in fromt of us before we're finally allowed to do something. The Nightmother says she predicted this outcome but she wanted Lucien to stay alive so that makes no sense. Honestly I think Skyrim's dark brotherhood is better. That doesn't hold your hand and treat like an idiot.
Child me was blown away by the twist, and I couldnt believe what happened to lucien! Astrid's fate in skyrim was also pretty brutal as well
That’s a good parallel actually! I had a similar reaction to Astrid’s fate as I did to Lucien’s!

I really appreciate the support my friend! :) it feels good to give oblivion the love it deserves! I hope I continue to do it justice!

Yeah I really like it too! A nice attention to detail and it’s awesome when Perennia’s ghost appears!
Definitely still my favorite questline in the game. Took us on an emotional ride that I wish would come back again. Thank you for your video! It's amazing!

I hate what they do to Lucien 😭, I always wish there was a way to save him
I hear you! It always sucks that we’re too late lol
the questline is so good in this game. sad that Skyrim's isn't as good. ESO's is pretty cool. worried about the future tbh
I second that! Loved this one! Skyrim’s had its moments, haven’t tried ESO’s yet! Probably a banger! Your right though TES 6 might be worrisome
I wish I could send more, but I just wanted to send something to express you’re truly one of my favorite channels, and will always find an adoring fan in me.
That’s too kind of you my friend! You really didn’t have to!! I really appreciate it and I hope I continue to deliver the content that you enjoy! :)

You’re right, it’s strange that we can’t exonerate Lucien after his death, it would’ve been cool to see him get that justice right away
I’ve been playing Oblivion for years and years and I never knew or even thought about dropping the head in front of Bellamont. Incredible video!
loved this quest. felt really bad for our boy lucien. It feels great getting to summon him daily in skyrim!
Yeah even though Lucien himself wasn’t a stand up guy, was still shocking to see that happen to him 😂
*Hits Lucians corpse with the Mother's head* 😂
😂 I guess they’re in the same anyway!
Is that a- a head..?
Everyone else: Nope we didn't see anything.
My character:
Yeah it’s interesting that no one else mentions anything about it but I guess they’re used to seeing severed heads 😂
i play your videos while i'm cleaning/cooking
i've played oblivion over and over and it never gets old
and now i've subscribed and added to my other oblivion content
Love your videos, can’t wait for the next game
I appreciate the support! Which faction should I take on next?
i fall asleep to these videos bro. your voice is like listening to relaxing rain sounds
I’m glad to hear it! I hope you’ve been enjoying and that it continues to help you fall asleep!
I like how they used the same voice actress as Arquen for the night mother but just pitched her voice really high and added a "ghost" filter
love it! what are u gonna do next?
I appreciate it! :) I’m not sure 🤔 any suggestions? I have a poll coming out later today on which questline we should tackle next!
Yes
I hope you enjoyed it!
wait… can you skip out on the weekly interaction with the night mother after the quest end or must you complete it every week? does it cause any downside other than missing out on some money?
the game make it sounds like you must do it but that doesn’t seem right
you can do it whenever you want
They should have made it that there is a way to save lucian.. would rather him live than cisero in Skyrim
Greetings!

Mine 😉 jk, there’s a lot of good videos out there, if you’re looking for builds Fudgemuppet is a good one!
@@ABardsBallad ah fudgemuppet made oblivion builds? Hmm interesting
Will check it out next week or 2 as i will be getting oblivion by that time
I just noticed that you have pretty loud inhales before pronouncing your sentences, and now I cannot unhear it.
Deeeep breaths my friend

you're overrated
@@madjack1748 I wasn't sure I was being rated. God people are so ridiculous whenever someone just agree.
