I'm half Japanese and half Philippine, and when I was in school in Japan, I was bullied and ostracized by my classmates because I was different. Every time I passed by, my classmates would treat me like a germ and start playing tag with the hands that touched me. The teacher also treated me like I was the problem child, as if I was in the wrong. That was the problem, so I went to the Philippines to change my environment, but even at school in the Philippines, I faced the same bullying, being different from the others, and even the label that Japanese people are rich for some reason, and so on. I went back to Japan when I was in middle school, but it was still terrible. My high school wasn't as discriminatory, so it wasn't the worst. But my high school was the worst, except for my friends. They say things have changed, but no matter what kind of discrimination there is, it never goes away. Even Asians are discriminated against, and everyone wants to distinguish between them.
I am sorry that you had to deal with that. I've had a rather lucky childhood, so I can't really relate but still. I hope that you are doing better, and that you'll be safe. Also, generally people are jerks, especially children who have no impulse control, sympathy that is almost non-existant, and a general lack of understanding that makes them like little demons.
@ Thank you so much. Recently I have been subjected to a from another country racists and mixed-race racists, but I think I should try not to worry about it and just focus on my own happiness.
Ah yes as an Asian, this is very accurate. I get the eye mocking or whatever they call it. 💀🙏 I'm South Asian ( India, Pakistan etc. ) so people kept saying to me I'm not Asian since I don't look East Asian or South East ( Vietnam, Thailand, China, Japan etc). 😭 Edit: I checked the replies sorry I made a mistake I meant, East and South East Asian.
As an Australian of Chinese descent, this video was a very painful kind of relatable. I used to be the butt of "jokes" about my eyes, the dog stereotype and how I supposedly couldn't drive because of my background. It was the worst at the start of the pandemic when my classmates would harass me for supposedly carrying the virus. Great video, Jyuna. Also, your artstyle is honestly adorable!
I’m a Scottie so whenever I talk, someone always says “oi my queen, would you like to drink tea and split crumpets, then we can go out into the garden and play croquet?”
I'm asian and a southeast Asian. Other kids will assume me as chinese or other asians. Some kids will say I'm Mexican just because I have round eyes but other Mexican kids doesn't consider me as one of them since they know what thire people look like.
Relateeeeeeee I’m half Indian, half Australian, and the REASON I don’t want to transfer to an Indian school is because I will be treated as the “GdAy mAtE aUsSiE wEsTeRn KiD.” I’m already the only Indian in my class at school, and get treated at “the Indian kid”, and whenever I try to make like a joke about Asian parents, my friends will say I’m “not a real Asian”. Like huh?! So yeah, thanks SO MUCH for this video. Edit: bruh how did I get like 230 likes in FIVE DAYS????
Indian people are not big on racism since there's like the south and north so people look pretty different from each other even though it's the same country they are from.
Culturally Asia can't tied unlike Europe, Austronesia or Oceania. In Asia, There are not only Eastern culture but also Central-Western Asian culture, and some of EuropeanㆍAustronesianㆍAfroAsian culture. Same to Africa and America. European view needs to get fixed about Asia, Africa and America. Classification of continents is only for Topographic and has nothing to do with political, economical, cultural and radical classification.

It's more complicated than that but that's the simplest explanation

im Vietnamese and Laotion and the kids are always “can you speak Chinese? Do you watch anime? Do you like sushi?” i dont like sushi, i dont watch anime, and i cant speak chinese.
When Vietnamese people go to another country, they will also receive questions like "Doesn't your country have TV?" or something like "Our country is North Korea and extremely underdeveloped." In fact, even we Asians still have a lot of misunderstandings and contempt for each other for many reasons that are really quite sad.

True I’m half Asian I am Chinese Filipino and Puerto Rican but people are always like wait did you eat dogs or asks why my eyes are like that and asks about if I’m a human eater this is getting out of hand
Nah, its the people stereotyping us Asians that is getting out of HAND! Also, normalise the N word because we know most black people jokes sht about Asians anyways lmao
These kids can get away with it because they are underage. If they are uni students in US, they will be declined for admission or expelled from university or got other corresponding consequences. I think kids are surrounded by racist things on the Internet and they should be taught more probably and teachers cannot let these happen. Kids should have a little bit more consequences. But school and parents just let these happen because they only give a f about African American but not Asian American
honestly every ethnicity has stereotypes ive mostly seen Asian and American stereotypes tho like Japan, China, and Korea arent the only Asian countries but not all Americans think they are- not all Americans are dumb 🙏
This is honestly so real as an Asian growing outside of an Asian country. I used to always get my eyes made of and people would be talking about the political issues between China and the US and sometimes called me a Chinese spy.
I'm fully Korean and have something that sounds like the C slur in my middle and last name, and yes. People have made fun of me for that, but never took it seriously, and never will.
I’m half chinese and I used to always get asked things like “Do you eat dogs in china??” and since covid I had people asking me if I “Ate bats” since I’m not fully chinese and only half I’ve even had some people say to me that I “Don’t look Asian enough 💀” which is kind of stupid, I’ve also been criticised by people for not being fluent in mandarin yet I speak fluently in a dialect that my family in china speak, its all quite annoying and people are just so judgy and stereotypical, I’ve had some kids asking me why I my eyes were big since I’m meant to be “Asian” even though I’m only half
i am asian and this is pretty relatable, and the crazy part is they somehow manage to be sexist, homophobic, racist, and ableist at the same time in one sentance also when ur "asian" to them it really means korean, chinese, or japanese, i know this one kid that wasnt from the 3 countries and everyone just said that he WASNT ASIAN
I'm Brazilian, and what she said is the pure truth. I'm not that kind of person, thank goodness, but my relatives are like that when I talk about Asia. It must have been really annoying to hear that. Eu amo seu canal ❤❤
@@GustavoPereira-eb2fb No when I was a kid I believed practically everything on TV so I thinked very stereotypically and I'm not proud of it. I didn't think out loud and didn't talk about it, but still.
Lol this brought back memories, back in my middle school some other Asian students and I got teased with Asian stereotypes, but we came together and made it our own joke. We were basically doing the Asian parent jokes as kids, (like Steven He jokes), shouting at each other that, "we have to be doctor" and "you need A+ blood type" and all. Fun memories. Also I feel like and old man because the start of that sentence was a few words off "back in my day."
As a Japanese girl who moved to Canada when I was little, I'm so glad i found this video. I'm also the "asian kid" in my school, and it feels like nobody takes my struggles seriously. I mean I guess it's because most of the things people say to me are so stupid theres no way its serious... Right?? Anyways, I'm glad to find someone who understands!! Keep up the great videos! (Also Brazilian miku mentioned at 6:35)
You didn't move to Vancouver, I suppose. Cause you wouldn't be "the Asian" kid but one of the many Asian kids in school 😅. But seriously, do not worry about what people say that shouldn't define your life and future. Stay strong 💪!!
I'm Singaporean Chinese and though living in a racially-predominantly-Chinese country spared me from such absurd occasions irl, I can really relate to this vid when it comes to the internet. I have many overseas online friends who ask me with genuine curiousity if Chinese people all think Taiwan is a part of them (bro I was born and raised in Singapore...) while there's also some who intentionally make jokes like "hey bing bong how's dog meat like?" I never really got much offended but the stupidest, most absurd one ever, till date, comes from a literal adult on the internet, who upon knowing I'm Singaporean Chinese, immediately doubted it and said stuff along the lines of "that is so weird, how can you be part Singaporean and part Chinese? How is mixed-racial births even biologically possible?" "Singapore and China are so far apart!" "It's just like it will be impossible for a Greek and a Korean to be together! It's just absurd, you never hear of them!" Like BRO, I won't even deny, I was literally appalled by the sheer ignorance from a fellow ADULT😭🙏 God bless all the other mixed-race people out there that find themselves having trouble to fit in at times though, though I myself was spared from such kind of misfortune I really do relate how hard it may be for you guys at times. I've read many online blogs about Asian Americans being seen as outcasts both in America and in Asia, struggling to find their true self and even subjected to racism at times. Hope the best for you all and remember to love & appreciate who you are xdxd (P.S If you're reading this, Jyuna, I love your artstyle man)
I'm also a Singaporean Chinese! And some ppl are like that to me as well. I heard some of my bffs being asked like "how does dog or cat taste like?" Or the "ching chong" joke.
im full singaporean ethnically chinese, and i was raised in japan. however i molded myself into japan and removed my singaporean identity. this was very twisted, and now i cant speak singlish. dont try and fit in, identity is important
In Australia my class knows me as the asian kid and in Thailand literally no one gives a damn that you're a mix race or shorter or too tall, everyone is so kind in Thailand, (I'm born in Thailand btw) I'm half Thai and half Italian.
Yup, when i came to Portugal i was the "Brazilian kid", when i went back to Brasil i was the "Portuguese kid". Like wtf? I am Brazilian! I was literally born in this city! And now that i moved to Portugal again i am the Brazilian guy once more... Who am I at this point???
not weird, and here’s why: when Japan was opened by Commodore Perry, Japanese people felt the need to westernize, become more powerful, and establish themselves as a world power. at that time, most countries did not want immigrants. meanwhile, in brazil, after king Pedro the Second (who was an abolitionist) was away in Europe to be treated due to severe illness, had abolished slavery, one of the most peaceful coups by slave owners, furious about losing free labor, took charge of Brazil. Now that slavery was abolished, they had to look for cheap labor; and where better than the newly opened Japan? Japan immediately began to send people to Brazil to learn and make money, though they were paid extremely poor wages, and were hated by Brazilians because they would do the job for much cheaper. The rest of the history, I leave to you to learn about, but that’s basically why Brazil has the highest Japanese population outside of Japan
@@YawndereXOthe weird part is the fact that even though Asians are pretty prevalent in the country they are still made fun of. Aren't they supposed to be a bit more tolerant at least since the Brazilians are more exposed to the Japanese in daily lives?
I'm half American and half Sri Lankan (an Asian country off the coast of India) and I have lived all my life in Sri Lanka. I went to a Colombo school and things were fine, until my mom wanted me to change schools to Horizon College International (search it up, its real) all the kids there had never seen anyone from (or half from) another country before and they thought I was Chinese (aka Japanese, aka Korean) because I am a little lighter skinned than them, and they were asking me questions like "What was it like escaping from North Korea?" and people who I didn't even know were calling me 'ching chong' or 'Chinese woman'. Because of this, my mom changed me back to the Colombo school (CIS) which had more foreign kids and a foreign principal so it was a better enviroment for me, and that's where I am now but during tennis club here, some boys think I'm Chinese and tell me to stop lying about my nationality and admit I'm Chinese. Because of this, the coaches for a joke, call me cheena girl (yes, cheena) and that still annoys me lol Congrats if u read to the end:)
just 2 of your videos and im laughing like i havent done in like... 2 months or so keep up the good work, i can relate with some of this and i feel you sis
Currently, I'm in middle school, with "modern" teenagers and tweens. There's this whole stereotype about either being a "smart asian" or just "not being asian" even if you're actual asian. As for me, I classify as a "smart asian", or in common language, a nerd. But like I get SOOOO many comments on like "Oh, you got an 110, you're such a smart asian," or "Oh, I didn't know that, I'm definitely NOT a smart asian" and, like BROOOOO. WHY?!
How can people be this mean 🥲 I'm more concerned over the fact that the parents are teaching their kids these stereotypes. I love the way you draw expressions btw xD
Itsnt the parents, its the tv/midia. And, tbh, school is a savage jungle, mainly in Brazil, where a kid is mocked by being called by Charizard (His father died burning)
As someone who actually eats nasty af things as cultural dishes (bugs, pig hearts, cow stomachs) people always go around and offend the people who actually don’t eat those things. So glad I live in an Asian majority school. But I’ve also been called insults like “yellow” or “dog-eater”, but I think Asian-Americans have it harder.
Love the art style raaaaaahh The middle schooler jokes about asian kids is so true even kids who actually aren't asian get teased 🗿 (my condolences though 😔 support from a Brazilian here)
Had this "experience" all through widdle school. I still have problems with how teachers did nothing as students openly make huge racist remarks against asian kids back in my childhood.
I love your character's design. This video is really good; I am 100% Indian ethnicity, but I do not look like the stereotypical one on television; and for that I got asked so much dumb and shallow assumptions. That not only happened when I lived internationally but also in India !!! I am gifted though, so one stereotype checked. :') I remember watching this channel long ago about the original concept of the movie "Wish" and I am so glad that you are uploading frequently with some cool storytime videos. 🥰 Also, you are Japanese-Brazilian ? *Himitsu Da Yo*.
Kind of. I am mostly south Indian but I do have some probable East and definitely North (Himalayan) ancestary. For South Indian stereotypes, I am too fair. For North Indian stereotypes, my hair is different. For East Indian stereotypes, I don't have longer eyelids.
@@eatingnemo9582 North east inidans account for about 1% of inida's population. There's a difference between those who simply live there and those who actually have EA/SEA ancestry. North East indians suffered from racism by the majority desi population in india (desi in english: dating back ancestry from india, pakistan, bangladesh) due to their EA/SEA ancestry. This has been aknowledged by the NLM (National Library of Medecine) Many inidans in modern days might think they have EA/SEA ancestry out of biases due to the rise of softpower from EA. I did encounter indians who claim they look like EA/SEA but totally don't.
@@galaxy1057T What ? LOL !!! I was in Europe for a while; and I think the language-speaking class was the only place where people actually knew I was Indian. I did not say a word and all the students there (none from India; mostly Arab, Turkish, Filipino, Central-African or Afghan) just immediately guessed that I was the only Indian. Also, the Indian diaspora is the largest in the world, especially in Australia. How did they think of Mexico ?!?!?!
there's a brazilian video focused for outside people explaining things that brazilian people hate, and there are some obvious things like: you have to speak PORTUGUESE not SPANISH or don't think brazilian women will like to date you or smtg like that, it was unbelievable
Im not gonna lie this is soo relatable to me as i was the "Asian kid" in school and they used to tell the same "jokes" like do you eat dogs? Open your eyes lmaoo!!! 6:21 fun fact: in some regions of Brazil, have many small monkeys that are so common like pigeons in France. Many ppl put fruits in their windows for them to eat. So... Many times they eat with monkeys (search for mico, sagui or soin, they're basically the same) I remember when i was a kid that i was eating a lollipop and i got distracted by the TV, then i notice that the monkey got into the place that i was, came next to me (probably by the smell of the lollipop) and was licking the lollipop while hanging in the wall! I got so upset, but that was so cute, i got the candy back bc it would be bad for him and throwed into the trash

If someone makes fun of someone eye shape etc. I'll say their eyes are better adapted against snow glare & cold weather, a trait from their Siberian ancestors.
Where I'm from, Asian Americans can be found like plastic bottles in the pacific ocean, me included. This was a real *eye-opening* experience for me, lol.
I am Puerto Rican-American, and I heavily relate to the thing about always being treated as a foreigner. In the U.S. (in the south nonetheless) I was always made fun of for being hispanic, and they even called me “illegal” even though I was born in South Carolina. I was even made fun of by other Latinos for being pale. In Puerto Rico on the other hand, I was known as the American kid with who could barely speak Spanish, and “barely even Puerto Rican.” So while I may not be Asian, I understand the struggle.
While i myself don't much care for identity in terms of nationality or ethnicity belonging, i can nonetheless see that the feeling of belonging to nowhere sucks big time.
3:59 yea that's like me when I go to korea.... and since I'm bilingual I get even more attention, but in a good way I guess? But I'm at least thankful that I never got racist comments from people

Yes of course friend. People all over are like that, it’s more of a general “human” thing. It’s very hard to ignore but sending warm hugs your way

Children and teens are generally rude, even barbaric, if without proper education.

It's just absurd, you never hear of them!" Like BRO, I won't even deny, I was literally appalled by the sheer ignorance from a fellow ADULT😭🙏
God bless all the other mixed-race people out there that find themselves having trouble to fit in at times though, though I myself was spared from such kind of misfortune I really do relate how hard it may be for you guys at times. This whole video had me thinking about how weird it is brazil has the highest Japanese population out of japan
not weird, and here’s why:
when Japan was opened by Commodore Perry, Japanese people felt the need to westernize, become more powerful, and establish themselves as a world power. at that time, most countries did not want immigrants.
meanwhile, in brazil, after king Pedro the Second (who was an abolitionist) was away in Europe to be treated due to severe illness, had abolished slavery, one of the most peaceful coups by slave owners, furious about losing free labor, took charge of Brazil.
There's a very informative video about it by Moon Channel.
@@YawndereXOthe weird part is the fact that even though Asians are pretty prevalent in the country they are still made fun of. Aren't they supposed to be a bit more tolerant at least since the Brazilians are more exposed to the Japanese in daily lives?

Because of this, my mom changed me back to the Colombo school (CIS) which had more foreign kids and a foreign principal so it was a better enviroment for me, and that's where I am now but during tennis club here, some boys think I'm Chinese and tell me to stop lying about my nationality and admit I'm Chinese. 2:53 what she thought her "death stare" was was probably just her looking at people so weirdly they instinctively had to turn away.

As a Chinese kid who spent one year in Arizona and one in Oregon, the middle school part was too relatable
there is NOTHING wrong with being asian. plus asians' eyes are nothing to laugh at, thats just how they were born. if i had an asian friend i'd defend them at school from any bullying. btw nice vid, i'm subbed
Don’t worry, she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with being Asian. 🙂
@@KyreynaRamirez-Relleno-ct8tw(other than the bullying, yep.)
But school and parents just let these happen because they only give a f about African American but not Asian American
asian yes are kinda common, even in non asian countries like sometimes in the middle east, Europe etc
If someone makes fun of someone eye shape etc. I'll say their eyes are better adapted against snow glare & cold weather, a trait from their Siberian ancestors.
At my school nobody makes fun of Asian culture more than the Asians themselves. One time one of em said “Great Wall of China” when lining up in gym.
1:28 "why the fuck would I wanna eat your dog" KILLED ME
3:14 Sent shivers down my spine
As an Asian, this is unbelievably relatable💀💀😭😭😭
arent you russian
4:25 thank you very much for using a map with the Asian side of Russia correctly cut off thank you very much have a great day, jyuna
Thank you too 😂 have a great day
I mean Russia is a Eurasian country.
The end made me laugh so much lmao
Keep it up ur vdos r so great, love from France ❤️
your voice is so calming to listen to :)))
A kid at my school calls me Mr. Rice 💀
Hi Mr. Rice 🦖
“mr. rice”
mfs acting like they don’t eat rice 💀
My friends name sounds like the word rice and he's white so those are the reasons I call my friend rice
Welcome to the rice fields motherfucker.
@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoa maybe we should start calling Americans Mr. Burger or better yet, Mr. Processed Meats
3:59 yea that's like me when I go to korea.... and since I'm bilingual I get even more attention, but in a good way I guess? But I'm at least thankful that I never got racist comments from people
