About her dad. It would be sad if her dad would pay attention to the gifts from the emperor first, when his daughter came back alive. First of all he was glad she was okay, no matter if she brings honour to the family or not. He wanted her to know that Dad didn't ignore her achievements, he was rethinking how he was treating her, and his values. He realized he cares about her well being more, than about honour. He only knew that she was risking her life, no matter how not honorable she was seen in his eyes. He just changes through the movie too, I think.
The animated Mulan is one of the BEST Disney Heroines. She worked hard to achieve her goals despite struggling, her personality is great, and she has the most badass moments! Current "strong female characters" don't hold a candle to her!

I think the ending scene with the father is when he realizes that Mulan is a wonderful woman (she really is), regardless of her achievements, and she could've died before they reconciled, not giving him the chance to say how much she means to him. Maybe because he was a warrior, and he has been trained to remain stoic. So, it's kind of nice that he breaks down and shows his vulnerability in that scene. But yeah, I agree with you that he should have acknowledged her achievements too.
The point was in comparison to almost losing her, honor didn't mean anything and that this whole time he was putting value in the wrong thing. Dude (video creator) missed the whole point.

I do admit that it would've been nice to see the father acknowledge her achievements and say he was wrong since she brought him honor of the highest prestige or smthn. but that wasn't what the scene was about. for all the father knew he shamed her and treated her badly her whole life due to a stupid honor system, and in return she throws her life away in a war for him. Especially considering how she was a woman and the attitudes at the time, he probably thought she was basically dead and never got to know how much he loved her since the last thing she hears from her family is how she brings shame to them. It's a great scene that shows how he finally learnt from his mistakes when it was seemingly too late.
