It's all about the combination , How much cyl pressure do have, I run 202 psi. Might be a good start, that's about borderline with pump fuel and we have 98 here, my Dynamic comp is around 8.81. I'm running a flat top piston. Also HP is in the heads as they say, what heads are you using ?, quench is very tight at 0.041"

Super tough Mars, curios to know how often you'd have to re adjust valves and tune ? I know it's a TRIKHQ question to answer but even a rough guess would give me an idea because I aint got no idea lol. TRIKHQ is an absolute savage beast and total respect because that Q's that sorted that you drive it like a stock everyday car on 500km+ cruises, and been like that for countless years. Also Mars if you ever get sick off owning it and your going to throw it away, I won't mind helping you by dumping it with me hahahaha.
Hi Steve, I check every 12 months, I have now has done 9000+ ks and haven't had to adjust since the dyno . Running Jesel rocker gear . As the k's are getting a little higher check every 1000's ks to keep an eye on the roller lifters. There is a que in line for the car lol

Yeah I think it wants more timing, why only 7,000, it's got a big cam not peaking until 7k, can the block take it? Crank?, rods? A 2 bolt block with splayed caps, eagle 4340 crank with h beams, can take just about what your dishing out, drag motor ok, oval track not gonna live....
We did a couple of pulls over 7000 and the curve was dropping a little, we tried more timing and lost power . So 7000 was the sweet spot. It has a Dart SHP . Engine can go to 8000 no probs , but know need to. My shift point when racing at 7400
Nice motor. Would love to have a spacer that big on my 410 Cleveland. Not enough hood clearance so why bother eh? Mine made 624@5900 and 580@5600. Hyd roller,11.25-1CR,91 octane pump gas and all accs on engine. Once you drive a vehicle with a 400 , you wont go back to anything less.

I am running A similar motor but mine has heavy ported old school camel humps 62cc 202/160.Sbc 406 solid roller cam dur 296/306 lift 580/600,TRW flat top pistons with H-beam rods.victor jr 850 double pumper.Its puts out 505 HP.I don’t know how much power I would gain by changing out the heads.
Power in the heads, I also built a 406 with 195 heads, small solid roller, 11:1 CR, Made 552 HP very streetable. Also a 383 with 210 heads, made 583HP, so HP to be gained I say. All in the combo
I am not going to invest in any other heads unless they are AFR 227’s.Will definitely set me back a few thousand bucks that’s for sure but I have to take off these camel hump restrictors. The way it runs right now it’ has so much torque on the street. I want to see the difference in heads but the way it runs right now for the streets it’s more than what I was asking for.New mustangs,Corvettes or Camaros that roll up on me at A dead stop red light do not have a prayer.If a car with a turbo rolls up on me or nitrous it would be a different outcome.My 1968 Camaro takes off so hard(well hard in my opinion) if the tires hold,I am gone.My 170lbs skinny azz in this light car Oooo shit!

Where are you that you can 98 octane pump fuel? I thought having 93 at the pump was awesome compared to the west coast.
Australia, we get 91, 95 and 98 unleaded fuel.

Can you tell me the cam specs I'm sure it a solid roller I'm guessing at least 260x 270 duration @50 and are those AFR 220 heads?
AFR 227s. Competition. Mid 260s and mid 270s camshaft
Now put full synthetic oil in it and it will make 12 more hp...

What AFR heads? How much compression? I have a very similar setup with AFR 227's and 12:65 to 1 compression (406sbc) 265-270, 682-684 lift
Hi there, I am using AFR 227 #1121, I have got 12:13 CR, Cam is 266/276 with 700 lift at the valve. Very similar combo.

12:1 on pump gas? Not on the street.
HI there, 100% pump gas , we have 3 types of unleaded fuel here, 91, 95, 98. I run 98 pump gas.

Heads are as they came out the box, spring upgrade only and decked to 61cc t raise CR. Originally 65cc heads.

did you try a super VICTOR II sbc intake on it yet?
No I haven't . The Super Victor has had plenum work and blending into ports etc. So it's working fine for me.

Looks like a cam that won't be happy under 4,000 RPMs... dyno run started way up at 4750 RPMs... - 7,000 RPMs...
Car drives quite well , got a 5500 8" convertor , have done over 10000ks in it now with very good street manners. Car has run a 10.52@129mph. 3608lbs.

Yes used 6 Inch Rod, AFR 227 Comp . #1121. Solid Roller , 266/276 @50, 700 at the valve with 1.6 rocker. quench is 0.038
Yep at high rpm you have to get that exhaust out as fast as possible
